[Music] [Music] [Music] what's up guys welcome back today we are gonna build a daybed for the camper for this space specifically check it out we want this to be a guest bed a really nice couch that we can lounge on so we searched YouTube the internet and then we found something at IKEA that actually slides out goes from a twin bed to a queen-size bed so when you do have it in a sofa it's really really comfortable but you can pull it out two and two people can actually sleep on it so this is the first time building furniture for us and maybe it's your first time building furniture so let us make the mistakes it'll make it easier for you so we're gonna try to walk you through step by step so let's get started wish us luck [Music] for our frame we use two by twos so the first thing we did was cut four pieces for the width four for the height and four for the depth giving us a total of twelve pieces of wood we use three inch wood screws to connect our frame and as you can see we went ahead and built the front and back frame first try and have an extra set of hands for this makes things a lot easier and leaves less room for mistakes [Music] to connect the two frames we use metal angle brackets as you can see here you can pick them up at Home Depot Lowe's anywhere like that for under $1 apiece [Music] after completing the frame we went ahead and added two braces on each side just for some extra support [Music] next we measured the depth even though we already know it it never hurts to double-check this measurement will give us the length we need to cut the one by three braces for the bed to lay off [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] the braces we will be cutting now will be screwed down on both sides of the frame and will only be half the amount of braces used for the entire bed I know it sounds confusing but it'll make sense soon since these braces will only be half the amount we need to space them out of quarter feet what we found easiest was to use one of the braces in a two by two to add space in between each piece that way your braces won't be right up against each other we marked it with a pencil and then repeated the process all the way to the other side [Music] you [Music] after making our marks we then spaced out each piece of brace to make sure that you will skip every other one because that space is for the pullout braces once again I know it seems confusing but you'll know what I mean very soon [Music] [Applause] [Music] after seeing everything fit we went ahead and screwed them down very important to pre-drill your holes we learn the hard way and split a few [Music] all right we're getting close next we'll measure the width and height so we can build a small frame for the other planks to sit on when you pull the bed out [Music] [Applause] [Music] make sure then to measure from the back of the bed to the front of the new frame to get the measurement for your other braces these will be a little longer than the braces that are already on the bed once the new braces are cut only screw these plates into the new front frame the back of the braces should be loose sitting on the back frame [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] once that is done flip over the bed so we can add a 1 by 6 piece of wood to the back braces so all the pieces can say somewhat together make sure only to screw into the loose braces [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] on the other side of the bed you will add another 1 by 6 but this one will be elevated up off the braces and screwed into the front piece of the frame not the frame that pulls out though this piece will act as a lock for when you pull the bed out [Music] [Music] [Music] finally flip it over and check it out we got ourselves a daybed folks [Music] I would recommend sanding down the sides of the braces that push back into the bed this will make it an easier transition for when you close the bed [Music] well we hope this video helped you out thanks for watching and remember to Like and subscribe so you won't miss a moment [Music] [Applause] [Music] you [Music]
