what's up youtube jack armstrong with jack daddy customs coming at you today with a awesome install so this is a diy project i'm going to show you how you can make a concrete safe room [Applause] [Music] all right the first step is to lay out your room so ours is a 8x8 and of course we built this when we were building the house so we didn't have to uh you know tear out any walls or do any remodel this was just planned from the start so the first step is to lay out your block work where our room is we have eight to ten inches of concrete and rebar coming up into the walls uh where the walls are so once you've laid it out start mixing the mortar start setting the blocks start with the corners and then go from there [Music] here we got better as we went along the more we did the better we got this was our first time laying blocks so uh you know if you could see the outside of this you would definitely be able to tell like we got way better as we went home once we got it blocked to the right height we formed up our roof which is about six inches thick it's got rebar grid all the way throughout i think it worked out to about every eight inches we've got rebar all right it's real windy out here so i'm gonna try to talk loud maybe it won't be so bad on the mic but uh look at the inside of this thing you've got to form it up with something like that so i'll give you a more detailed look but you've got to have a bunch of uprights because concrete's stinking heavy so you make sure that when you form up your top with your plywood or decking or whatever you want to put make sure that you support it with a bunch of stuff up under here next you just pour it with the concrete you want to mix it a little wet so that it goes down all the blocks and this is where your strength comes in so if you just have blocks it wouldn't be very strong but when you've got rebar going the length of every block and then you've got concrete going all the way down in there you've got a really strong uh building and then once we got to this point the next step was just to finish the house uh we have finally got the house to like a finished state that we can start putting our doors in so we're freezing put the safe door in to our safe but you can see we've got it painted uh you come on you see we gotta paint it we've got a electrical run of course you remember we put a pipe in there we got our registers on these vents we decided not just to have vents but but to put conditioned air through there so uh in those pvc pipes we went ahead and insulated them uh and ran them into the ductwork so that way we've got uh our conditioned air coming in here that should help with humidity and stuff like that we're going to put rubber flooring down these are stall mats and we're going to put them down in the floor and it's all black just because black looks cooler it's real echo in here [Music] okay so this site door is where it was uh when it was delivered before we had walls so uh we took the tractor with the forks on it and set it inside the house and then we built the house without even moving this so this is where it's been the whole time fixing to open it and see how it goes [Music] [Music] [Applause] it's like maxwell's smart trying to get in this thing every time you open it there's something else moving now with this door it definitely helps to have some strong friends [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] once you get the door in position you just want to check for it to be level left and right you want it level so it swings right now we used a bunch of tap cons which are just blue concrete screws we used a bunch of them all the way up and down this thing you can use anchors as well it comes with some in the box those will work fine you gotta drill your holes put the anchors in but we have some good sized tapcons that we chose to use and you just screw on the lugs on the handle and you're ready to see the finished product all right now we built some shelves in here to put random things on uh of course we got a shelf down there so you can see like you know if your wife has some really nice mops and brooms and stuff you could put on there this right here is a gallow tape wall so gallowtech specializes in making like these types of things that you can move around and put them wherever you want to put them these are some little 45 degree holders of course we got these that just hold like one end of a mop handle or something you know like that but uh anyways gallo tech super sweet we like it it's good stuff uh of course we built these shelves ourselves this one i built myself and then we just screwed it onto the concrete wall this is the bottom i have some leftover rubber from when i did the rubber floor and i've got that on the shelves as well and over here in our other rack now this was my first time ever laying blocks so i just want to tell you like it turned out better than i expected and it's really good uh but i want you to know that like if you got any kind of common sense you can do it yourself like don't be intimidated if you've never laid block i just got on youtube and watched some youtube videos and i was able to lay this block and make it work so you can have a great safe room in your home you can do it yourself just like i did and you can be safe when the storm comes you can have your diamond rings and whatever in the safe not have to worry about it and you'll be good to go so um you know we've gotten this a couple times when storms are coming we'll let the kids sleep in here or whatever and it just gives you a little extra peace of mind to know that you can be safe and you can keep your stuff safe as well now by the way snap safe is not sponsoring this video they didn't send me this door for free or anything like that didn't even give me a discount on it but i am sure that a lot of you guys are going to go buy some snap safe doors because it works really good i'm really impressed with it it's a it's not like the heaviest door but it's definitely good enough quality and we like it it keeps everything that's not supposed to be in here out and it's an in-swing door that's always a good thing as well that way if you know you enter a storm and the walls fall and you can't get the door pushed out it's not a big deal because you got an in-swing door so you can swing it get out of the state yeah so snap safe didn't sponsor me but they're good doors i think you should check out snap safe i think you should build your own safe room and i think you should like and subscribe jack daddy customs jack daddy outdoors hope you enjoy see you next time [Music] [Applause] you
