How to Blackout Car Window Trim (DIY Chrome Delete)

all right so what we're going to do today is we're going to use this product here it's called a Purdue what it's called but basically what we're going to do is we're going to block out the chrome trim right here this tape is available on our website it's a a gloss black material that's a cut to a two inch with the two inch roll so basically allows you to wrap most vehicle window trims pretty easily so the first thing we're to do is actually something I've already done I wanted and masked off the whole area what this is going to do it's going to lower the tack of the vinyl actually sticking to the car and it would also protect the car from you know any you know the blade you're gonna be cutting close to the paint so you wanna make sure it's covered a little bit because as a precaution and obviously we went in and we cleaned it we use alcohol to wipe it down so we went in and cleaned it the last thing I'm going to do is I'm gonna use a tack cloth just to go over at one time pick up any dust any debris that may have fell down on this we just went to lunch so we came back and I want to make sure it's nice and clean so we'll start with this term right here so this term extends from here so right over here is where it breaks so there's actually a natural split there so we're going to use that to actually stop here and then we'll continue this Ethernet column so you want to get like a general idea of how long it is just cut that down what idea is that kind of threw the slack in the car just let's not dragging on the floor scratching up the materials actually sitting in the car then we'll release a good couple inches fold it back and you can want to start your leg so all these materials can air early vinyl is very easy to work with and want to put it in place actually right through and I kind of conformed it down being a 3m material super conformable so it was like really easy to defend it just with no heat just working it straight down and yeah so it's all late now next step we're going to do is we're just going to trim right here and get rid of the excess material you're gonna want to get a sharp blade these blades are available on our website as well as the tape itself but definitely get one of these what you're going to do is you're going to use the back of the term as a guide so basically how this is set up is there's a trim there's a rubber seal and there's the paint of the car so we're going to work against the trim staying away from the rubber trim and obviously staying away from the paint if you would like a segment you can live like a king didn't look up you gotta let my birthday man until then I'm a message from my latest Beijing I've got the first portion of it trimmed out right up top along this line it's very easy to do like I said the way that the term is set up it's really easy to work you are going to want to be very cautious of staying away from that rubber trim the tape actually helps keep you away from the paint you know so being that this tape is tucked down there you don't really have to worry too much about the paint obviously it's a definitely something to be cautious about but being taped up at a definitely helps out keep the blade off of the paint so the final tip that I have is to go down this way it gets a little more complex over here you have access to move your mirror around get it out of your way if you need to so in this case is okay but what I'm doing is I'm just lifting it around with my fingernail pushing it in and I'll use my blade - because out loud I'm dropping little gemstones to you universal it fits on most vehicles all you got to do is measure your window trim make sure it falls within the two inch range that this is so this comes in two inches wide if your window trims are over two inches you may need to look for another products that this covers most vehicles I think it looks very very good it's way better than that chrome and stainless that these BMWs come with already so to block it out it just gives it way more aggressive look or excited products very cool is easy to work with and I think it's gonna be suitable for a lot of vehicles grass green and they kind of ride you smoke them baked what's on a girl and you bad on my life I was thinking that impersonal another what I think is a good idea you can actually use this tape to mold it and send it right around this area possible for me I rather not have the stress and tension in this area and the ease of application what I would do is use a bigger sheet of material like this to actually cover this area what that does is allows you to just kind of lay them down there's going to be no stress no tension right here we're just going to ensure that it lasts you know long terms it's a lot easier in school so what I would do is actually order you know one yard of extra gloss black material 3m you know on our website if you go here you can actually purchase this tape if your window trim is very broken up to where it doesn't have an aggressive turn like this one does you could definitely get away with just using the tape but for something like this in addition I would order probably one one yard of gloss black and that's going to allow you to be able to do this as well the other side so we're going to do that is a lay it right on a critic it and I literally I'm focused on like every other rapper in the industry before to say that that would be as something like catastrophe annotation of the strategy I'm Jason after mess so keeping here with so much blasphemy remember when they left at me with so with this window term is very important actually top right behind it because there is a definitely a good amount of chrome showing right here so what I do is loosen up all the material around get it off the car and you want start right from the corner always going to start with the most aggressive Bend first and push that material in you get it tuck right up behind it you just want to continue this process all the way around this trim I have it all tucked up in there now what I can do is I can grab the blade and just run up against the back of the window trim so it's a very very sharp blade that I'm using here so just going to very easily cut the material so right here where the two pieces actually meet if you remember the OEM pieces have split here what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to cut this piece a little over so there's an overlap there that's just going to ensure long terms of durability there so you lightly want to cut on the trim and the vinyl this seam is very very very almost invisible unnoticeable this is also where it butts up and meets up so I'm going to go ahead and cut just a little bit over so before I actually cut this one what I want to do is kind of go in and add some relief here so it just nicely tucked in very easily so let's go here cut a little relief also cut a little bit more there and that just allowed to sit in place when you push it down I mean the file step 4 we trims I'm going to give it a little bit [Music] here's the product we use the 3m 1080 gloss black window trim delete kit because they want our website it was a very very easy install to do you know being that this is pre-cut it helps out a lot the products that we use I'll quickly go over it we did a alcohol wipe down we did a masking tape just to protect the paint and lower the tack of the vinyl and then I know we also use tap cloth to clean up clean up the trim so you need those three products and then just a little bit patience follow this guide you should easily be able to do this this will work for multiple types of vehicles in this case it was on a BMW 3-series so the glove helped out a lot so make sure you get one of these if you can the glove was what we use to actually push down the film very very rare occasion did we use any squeegee on this application I use the squeegee to go in and tuck behind here a little bit but for the most part it was all layers of gloves likewise the gram washing worldwide my style is premium everything you see me you switch the wraps up every season the hottest models on earth love behind the
