since time immemorium i had to practice that to get the pronunciation right uh for a long long time uh human beings have been fascinated with telekinesis the ability or the idea to move objects just with the power of your mind and today we're going to do a deep deep deep dive uh into bending a coin bending an ordinary coin it can be borrowed it can be out of your own pocket i'm gonna really drill into this and show you a whole bunch of different handlings i've used over the years you're gonna learn how to bend a coin just with the power of your mind and absolutely astound friends and family there's stuff that's super easy there's stuff that's more complicated their stuff is even more complicated okay i'm going to show you how to bend a coin with one finger i'm going to show you how to bend a coin with one hand i'm going to show you how to bend a coin with two hands i'm going to show you how to bend a coin with a wrench i'm even going to show you a method where you can bend two coins okay a little routine where you bend two coins you do it twice the amazing thing and i'm going to show you a way you can bend a coin not even touching the coin it happens in the spectator's hand okay so this is all shocking stuff it's all direct stuff it's all stuff that is pure magic you're going to really enjoy it on the video we're also going to give away a prize what are we going to do i'm going to announce the winners of last week's uh oh yeah the grand opening my grand opening trick all the winners i hope you won this week got announced that plus do a brand new contest for a chance to win one of my five cards stunned which is a really cool card trick involving a bunch of card changes and the cards grow and grow impossibly so this is all happening on today's video right here right now i'm not sure why i'm crossing my arms but the fact is i am crossing my arms let me show you how i bend a coin lots of ways to physically bend a coin to prepare a special coin for this uh shockings or reputation making illusion but let me just suggest a couple of quick things here first i'm just using a couple of wrenches standard wrenches okay no big deal there my one piece of advice for you though is to wrap whatever coin you're about to bend wrap it in paper or thin cardboard because it doesn't take any more time or nothing to wrap it in a piece of paper before you do the bend but what it does it means there are no wrench marks no the teeth the telltale when someone looks at it okay can rule the whole illusion now if it took an extra hour that's one thing but since all i do is take a piece of paper fold it tightly around the coin okay hold it like this and fold it like this okay now i've been experimenting with this stuff for a long time because you guys know all too well i have no life so i've bent the q so i bent the coin and so i folded up the coin a piece of paper now i've played around with coins that are bent in different ways subtly different bends but today i'm just going to focus on the simplest the down and dirty and i think the most magical which is you're going to grab a quarter okay um on the very not in the middle don't grab the quarter in the middle you want to go on the edge okay because what i'm after is a really nice even bend i want a sharp bend right in the middle of the coin not to one side or one one side or the other okay so you'll find if you take a coin okay and a couple of wrenches and you hold at the very edges opposite each other the very edge of the coin and don't start one or the other start simultaneously with it okay so that hopefully has burst did you say birth or burst birth burst as in hopefully that has birthed my actions have birthed a coin that is let's see uh yeah that'll do that'll do okay there it is so there's the coin nicely bent you have a quarter examined you show your left hand undeniably empty then with just one finger okay one finger they see press down on the quarter and of course your right hand is undeniably empty and they can closely examine the quarter now that is about as direct a bend as you can get and there's so much i like about it as simple as it is if you're familiar with magic that didn't fool you and that's fine because on this channel i'm not just about fooling my fans i'm also about teaching and really i'm gonna in a moment show you a bunch of different handling different things but there's something so perfect about this basic handling all right this is using the spell band moves die vernon spellbound move where you're switching one object for another under natural actions while siamesely well simultaneously because it two different time travels happen well simultaneously double moment while simultaneously showing your left hand and your right hand empty with your sleeves up test conditions okay i love the clarity of this now i have my bent coin and i'm holding my bent coin out in what's called a clip it between my two right fingers okay and notice the bend uh direction the bend is going it's bending sort of up towards my thumb like that i don't want it bending down i want it bending up and the nice thing about a clip is it's not like a finger palm or classic palm the hands really relaxed and you can still very naturally handle the coin okay there's no stress there's no tension you can if you want separate the fingers a little bit to let the hand breathe a bit so it's very organic very easy to hand the coin out have someone take a look at the coin both hands marrying each other relaxing at your side whatever or you can start by showing the coin very carefully right handing that right out to somebody and while they're looking at that casually you know slip your hands in your pockets and get the coin or maybe get the point where getting a lighter if you want them to light you're going to suggest you wave the coin to heat up and then do the bend so it's up to you to decide whether you want to be holding out the coin um in the in this clip okay holding up the coin the clip um to start with all right or go into your pockets okay it's really up to you now this is so clear though they just examined the coin okay now um uh there's lots of little details i'm gonna share along the way about the psychology the the presentation do you borrow coin do you not let me mention right now that i don't often do a bend with a borrowed coin because you never know what you're gonna get here in canada uh our coins are pretty uniform but we're getting more and more new different coins so you never know what you're gonna get and people when they hand you a quarter they might notice the head or the tail and if you're in the u.s where so many of my fans are there's some each state has a quarter year so so you know i had to decide at one point do i do i stop doing this trick or do i just use my own coins and do my own coin so i always make a point of having a whole bunch of quarters around i'll go off to a gig how four or five and because at home i probably got 100 quarters all i do is make sure the dates all match when i grab four or five coins off to a gig they're all 1992 they're all 2006 whatever as long as the date match because i have been busted i've had someone hand out a quarter and they'll look at the coin examine it notice the date and if the date changes it'll ruin the trick right so that's sort of my thinking around same dates the importance of it and whether or not to borrow coin or not if you can borrow a quarter it is great there are ways to do it you can have someone have a whole bunch of change who's got change get a whole bunch of change on the table five or six different coins and then reach and pretend to take a quarter out okay that way no one knows or you can take out a real cord and do your switch nobody knows the dates and that kind of thing that's a great way to go let's look into this bend i want to teach you all these cool different ways to bend now okay so uh i'm here i've got the coin clipped i'm gonna do spellbound showing the left hand absolutely empty putting the coin right there for a second is this totally natural no but is what a wonderful way or theatrical way to display the coin so all can see the miracle that's about to happen left hand is empty very fairly right there like this now i'm going to come over and i'm going to cover just for a beat the coin and as i cover the coin here i'm going to let it fall back down into the hand okay while i leave this coin at the finger tips and thumb in the same position and press down all right now i like the idea first you don't just want to go look a benton please this is a perfect example of where theater and acting is needed you can go right over the top you can do as a whole grunting thing like you haven't had enough bran all week you can do your whole incredible bulk hulk whatever you want okay hulk smash hulk bend uh or uh you can do more casual right but here i'm gonna come over like i said let this fall put this in its spot and roll this finger now you can show the left right hand is empty we know that you've done this and you can show imply the uh the left-hand empty side you can imply the right hand is empty and then come away or in the rolling you can actually show the right hand empty which is nice because then they've seen both hands simultaneous or uh they've seen one after the other empty hands then you're pulling away then they see this and you can either hand this to them or having done this take it away let this hand fall to your side and move forward and people look at that i think that's the best misdirection is to take this off left this here and you come forward when you take a coin okay when you have a coin and you say to a specter would you help me out here would you hold my wrist for a second and they hold your wrist and you're still able to make the coin vanish under test conditions it's a very sneaky and beautiful vanish and what that is it's it's a roll steel and i used to use it a lot i haven't used it for years but it's still one of these things i practice and play around with the coin is there you close your hand not too tight the coin is going to fall out of the hand as this hand comes over it falls into the finger uh sort of down with the waiting fingers here while the hand continues under the wrist okay like that so it's coin so you start they can see the coin can you do me a favor and you're deliberately you want to have already have a bit of a fluid going with the hands can you help me out here the hands are moving can you help me can you do me a favor can you and so you're gonna turn from this okay it gets dropped off to this this is the cover action here of you stealing the coin and the perfect motivation of course because you need it here is why is he putting his hand here well because he's demonstrating where the spectator is going to hold so they're holding your wrist and still they're going benches okay they see it here okay you can put it up here if you want but i like to get my get a little closer to the side of the hand fist here can you do me a favor can you come on over and hold my wrist they do your hand comes away you haven't done the magic yet i mean if you were to go to your pocket for a magic wand or invisible magic wand a q-tip a a wriggling worm with of course the all-important warm sound effect because worms are frustrated you do this in advantage great so i was playing around with this i realized what a great switch you can use this for a switch and the motivation is you're going to make a quarter bend by using the force of two hands you need two hands all right so for this you just have your bent coin in the left hand finger palm show your hand here now there's something called the uh ramsey or caps i think it's caps subtlety in this case damn it maybe it's ramsay it's ramsey where you can show your hand and this is great for camera but even live you can see the coin here but if i curl my fingers now it looks like a totally empty hand you can see all the palm and everything so you can pl you don't have to do that for this you can just sort of keep it casual or you can sort of show the hand and you don't want to wait too long okay so it's coin right hand empty left hand apparently empty this like this closed hand can you help help me out and as opposed to saying can you help me out here what you're going to do is bring the hand down steal the coin out from the bottom and with both hands right under the spectator's face and then you get to slowly open that hand and show boom while right hand falls to your side so the visuals and this is what magic is about creating a series of images if you go back to the history of film okay uh late 1800s early 1900s all this kind of thing even in the mid 1850s 60s the the the explo or early aspiration of film uh was often done by people who are also interested in magic okay very strong overlap the history of magic in the history of film and it's about presenting images and so as a magician you want to present images that make people curious and shocked and surprised but how they totaled up these images so here i have this image of a coin going into the hand maybe they see it on the hand it's flat right then they see me come over and with both hands press okay and i open and where the coin was exactly now it's bent so super fair staging right hand drops away they just saw the right hand empty they saw the empty right hand put the coin in the hand okay so there's no heat there boom like this all focus is going to be on the coin and again you can extend that to someone like that question of the week it's time for the question of the week this is your chance to win one of my five cards stunned five cards done check it out at sankeymagic.com it is a very cool card trick where you actually reveal the identity to several cards by waving your hand and as you wave the card they see first expands it gets bigger and bigger until it's like 10 by 17. crazy way to close the show great for family shows great on the socials etc and really visual five different cards four or five probably five given that it's called five cards stun i'm gonna guess it's five cards okay you can check it out sankeymatic.com for your chance to win to uh uh i'm gonna give away 12 of them like i do every week 12. uh and your chance i just want you to leave a comment down below please and this is the i want you to answer this question which of these bends do you like most okay i'm gonna give them casual names as i go along here so just leave a comment and tell me which of the many techniques or bends i'm teaching you today do you like the most when you leave a comment like that you're automatically entered in the contest to win a free five card stun is it four card maybe three card is it two cards every time i do this trick people always say can you do it again okay so i'm gonna do it twice okay just to get in front of that right away you got a quarter people exam you got a card case people can look inside you take the quarter you put it inside you isolate the quarter right there on top of a card case or in someone's hand whatever you say remember i said i was going to do it twice i'm going to do it with that quarter but i've got another quarter here down in my pocket and we're going to use that quarter to here you show a second chord and again the quarter if people want the chord can be examined okay you say watch just like that you can say with the power of your mind if you want or physical strength you open your hand and they see the just exam and quarter is now impossibly bent okay and you say well with that one that was physical strength okay the question is can i do it just with mental so watch just over here we go just like that the spectator lifts the case they open up and they spill out the second quarter is already bent boom so that's got a really nice flow to it i like first the presentation here's something so amazing people always ask to see see it again so we'll do it twice right i mean it speaks to what people think it already plays out the power of the trick and then you do it also but i mean the great thing about many of the tricks we as magicians repeat coins across or ambitious card or whatever is each time we do it is more amazing it's more incredible it's like oh my god because people have this idea that we'll do it again they ask because they think if you did it a second time there's you'd get caught right do it again uh so that's what's so strong strong about this the structure's super simple right what's the structure here okay so what do we have and again i am sitting down here i should be standing for this i apologize is i've got two of the bent quarters and uh unbent and hopefully all the dates are matching right and a card case so simple so clean so how do i start i start but i've got one bent quarter in my pocket okay now this is again something really nice that you can walk around with you can have all this in your pocket and just by going in you can feel which ones are straight which ones are bent it's easy right got a bent quarter in right hand finger palm very casual right and then i've got this and this this is and notice too you can start by saying here's a coin take a look at that along with that i'm going to get my card case and as you go into your pockets to get uh your card case you just fingerprint one of the bent coins right so they start with this beautiful image of an empty hand okay you can hand out that if you want to now uh you take back the quarter uh and then you take back this and it looks and sounds to all the world like you just slipped the card case of the coin inside but i've switched to two coins very simply i just use an old style thumb palm i had this here i roll my finger in towards curl in towards the the what's called the crotch of the thumb i kid you not that's what's called crotch into there and i hold it in the crotch it's a very old style thumb palm okay and it's done on the offbeat the focus is here maybe i'm looking up in here and down here when no one's looking at this hand i just curl it in thumb palm and i get the bent one to the fingertips drop it inside close it up like this everybody sees it everyone hears it looks very straightforward right uh we'll get back to that one in a moment so you got this delayed one here and then you go to your pocket as i go to my pocket all i'm gonna do is move uh the coin uh first thing i'm gonna do in my pocket is get the bent coin into thumb palm which is there okay it's in thumb pump then i'm gonna move this to thumb and finger all while coming out and showing this one right so they see the coin if you want you can have that examined again whatever and then boom and it bends and the reason it's bent now is i did a second switch i used a very old move called the bobo i kid you not b-o-b-o because everything in magic is classy and impressive it's called bobo uh and one of the fathers of modern coin magic is a guy whose name is j b his initial jb bobo i don't know uh knowing if he was a magician chances are the jb literally stands for just bobo bobo what's your name it's jb bobo what does jb stand for just bobo it's in round and round we go who's on first who's on last at this point who's what i want to know so you're here uh so the switch is i show it once i toss it in then i'm just gonna pull the i'm let this fly out it flies out as i literally just kind of push this into finger palm and relax the fingers okay it seems with and you know you're throwing it and the hands curling towards you slightly it's the curling that hides the last little moment of the fingers so they see the quarter here you throw it in you literally switch so it's this in live and live performance speed this pulling it in this you're kind of pulling it in just at the same time it's going out almost identical speed okay so they see the coin though throw that in there right now boom like this or snap your fingers or bend it with the power of your mind somehow uh they're like that and then they see you maybe start to weep bloody tears because you really care about your audience i love my audience i love my audience they see the bed boom you can hand that out if you want but very nice to take this and again it's a little awkward because i'm sitting but put that in your pocket and make sure the two don't click huh but now you're so far ahead they saw you handle stuff the hands ramped you bent a coin very impressive but what about this one over here that they examined beforehand now it's crazy time you can have a spectator try to bend the corner you want to see the coin try to bend it i like using this hand i think this is really cool to bend and use this and visualize what's happening to the coin in there while i do this okay you could try to tap into the power of an ancient norse woodland elk god imagery where you do one of these okay you tell your audience you'll amaze them with something involving two coins okay one coin is a quarter and the other coin is also quarter then you say don't just watch listen they're upset they look just like that see both coins weirdly warped so this is a funky use of the gallow pitch g-a-l-l-o just a brilliant technique so much you can do with it i realized i could do a double bend with this in stereo if you will and you shall uh this coin is bent in left finger palm okay then you hold this basically here like that it's like this you got two coins here nothing in this hand the way you'd get into this situation as you go down your hand but you'd say you're on hey here's something with a couple of coins and this right hand will go in your pocket this left hand will go in your pocket and while you're down there you come up with nothing here and while you're in that pocket you just sort of got this and think your palm and came that up here i wouldn't say here's something with two coins because the lack of a visual here is kind of weak somebody might want to flash a bit or just sort of say here's something with two coins uh this one now here's the gamut pitch watch it looks like i threw one coin out of that hand right and then the other coin out of that hand it's brilliant it's a variation on the classic hand pin chin what i'm doing is i'm gonna throw this and the key to remember is the the coin ideally you're not throwing in this direction back directly towards the other it's sort of out on an angle and out on an angle out on an angle out on an angle so this is going out on an angle then i come over i apparently picked this up but all i'm going to do is gesture with this hand while literally throwing this coin lightly that way okay and this now this shouldn't be as deceptive as it is but it's the macro the actions of the hands are so convincing you would swear i've got a coin there and a coin there it's amazing i love it okay so again yeah you're gently tossing this way and then as the hand is going in the second straight line creating this x in the middle you close the you're closing the fingers while gently letting that fall forward close it whoa almost rolled off like a donut here we go like that and you're opening that hand okay so now that you know the gallow pitch we're here two coins showing one quarter there one quarter there picking it up squeeze saying disturbing sounds okay that's the robot struggling with its dog side uh you're here you give a squeeze now you repeat your actions showing bent right gonna keep this in finger palm or you can put in classic palm to show even more of the hand okay and then as i pick this up showing this one bent two announcement times the grand opening winners from last week or the week before the week before that i never remember hear the i'm going to say your name right now it means you won a free grand opening grand opening you can always find this stuff at sankeymagic.com it's a gimmick it's a plastic printed kind of cool gimmick that allows you you hand it out and it looks like a it's printed so it looks like a folded card but it's just a piece of plastic but a second later you're actually able to un well everyone examined it you can unfold the image into a real playing card and low and behold it is the sign card kind of cool here are the winners tony reid lucky luke you are lucky a son of a gun daniel sorry man online uh lig only eulek eulick event is eulek glenn keroluk jax man jax man new superhero he throws jacks at people does nothing but people get pretty pissed off stephen wood fernando lola edgar gomez maximilian saunders thanks for swinging by the channel maximilian very impressive alive miller okay danielle danielle stan and pierre cooper okay you guys all won as usual if i said your name email my team at contact at sankeymagic.com let them know your your name maybe you got a youtube also they were all real names but if you got a sometimes people have a youtube name you know confusing but uh and your shipping address okay email my team give all that information and they will ship out to you one of the grand opening gimmicks congratulations you take some coins out of your pocket and say to a spectator go ahead point to one pick a coin any coin they point to one whichever one they point okay you take the coin out and they do get to have a 100 free choice of anyone you get rid of the coins you say look watch the coin very carefully i'm going to hold up my fingertips like this they see it you say with the power of the sound you snap your fingers and they visibly with no cover whatsoever saw the coin bend you even offered to give it away as a souvenir fairly putting it inside the card case and it's just handed to me wait a second would you like to see me use a magic wand just with a little magic wand movement i can straighten out that coin they say they sure would you go well here's my magic wand right here i hope you're impressed all i have to do is take this and i'll be at it straight now they think you're kidding and you put this on their hand and then you wave this over and they open up the card case so when they look inside all they find is the coin is impossibly unbend okay now this this is sort of a song and dance version it's got a couple different virtues to it this is called the tv bend and i created for a tv show many years ago because what i want to be able to do is hold a coin at my fingertips and have it visibly bend just by snap my fingers i want that sucker to bend in half and then without any switches because that's when the heat's on you don't have to switch this the second after you've pulled in everyone's focused oh my god i want to see that and then there's this there's something going on there's something going on i think he was a dove act i don't know what that was going on there like that so you don't want to have to switch then so so a couple of pointers here uh so what do we have here we got a few coins a few coins uh we've got a bent coin we've got two card cases yes a little switch action going on there other ways to do this and a pair of pliers i used to do this version table hopping uh and so i wanted the smallest pair of pliers i could get that and okay so the gag is i have a magic wand i'm going to use the magic wand to unbend the coin it's like oh that sounds intriguing then you introduce the pliers as the magic one gets a good laugh okay one of those psych gags that gets good laughs so two card kits a pair of pliers a bunch of coins bitcoin um i have a unbent quarter in the card case now i used to do this if you're wearing a jacket and it's not a too tight fitting jacket like a traditional like a dress um jacket uh maybe from a suit or something then you can do this switch in the pockets but i typically would do it in my case off to the side here in like a stand-up show or like i said when i used to walk around then i'd be wearing a jacket not too in some um either pants pockets or ideally the side jacket pockets usually they're loose enough for this kind of switch all right so i've got the coin in the card case i've got this over here on the side like this i've got three coins so notice the virtue here is you get a chance to sort you have the best of all worlds you're not borrowing the coin with the issues that can have if they see the date but you've got this idea i've got some coins here go ahead and they're all quarters but go ahead pick one so there's this sense that it could have been any coin in the world okay and they do get to see they're all flat which is nice too they're all unbent i've got my bent coin here now they point to one whichever one they point to i just sort of start to close the fingers reach in and pretend to remove it okay it's just literally just reaching in this is at the fingertips pretend to remove it i'm there that's all i'm doing these go back into my pocket which again i was sitting down if i wasn't sitting down it would flow card cases someone's is hanging around on the table whatever now from this distance it doesn't i could be holding a coin like this should barely notice anything or like this but one you want to be able to hold this within inches of someone's face so this is the position when you either can do one-handed okay i can do it one-handed there i'm there or to be really careful you can adjust it and get ready for two hands this is the position you want let me show you here the coin is not really being held it's resting on the tip of the the the thumb the ball of the thumb is just against the edge of the coin the edge of the coin and it's just bent at those fingertips and i'm going to very quickly push the thumb down and when i push the thumb down it's going to move from that position to that position so it's finishes uh sort of bent backwards over the thumb now this is the final position but i want to start forward so i'm taking this shape here the end positions there and starting it there all right so that's basically resting there and when you have that four inches from someone's face okay and when you snap your fingers and they see something happen now it doesn't matter what happens as long as they can see that this stationary hand is holding a stationary coin and then some kind of action happens it shouts magic looks amazing everybody wants to see this quarter and everyone will swear that they just saw it bend at the magician's fingertips it's a freak fest okay this is just beautiful great bar trick you do that you leave that on the table you're not going to top that okay you can do card tricks and things from there but people are going to pick this up at the end and go how the hell did i mean his hands were empty the coin he only had the one coin okay so in even taking this out of your pocket note even if you didn't borrow it or switch it just take it out of your pocket having it bend at your fingertips dropping it into a glass with the audio on that and that they can examine it okay uh really very cool idea they're the td bend idea um not great you gotta watch your angles a bit that's all now as for the second phase uh you put drop this in a card case close it up say you probably like this is souvenir start suggestions but i'll tell you what i have a magic wand this confessional i have a magic wand right here i could use it we could unbend the coin watch they go magic wand okay so the key here is you have to go down and come up you don't want a lot of moving around okay in this situation since i've got a chair here i'm actually going to hold it here that's the easiest i'm going to go down okay i'm going to leave so this is front stage now it's backstage it's in the right hand leading i'm going to lean down and come back up and i'm going to lead with the pliers i'm going to leave down and come back up and lead with the pliers that's where my focus is that's where everything is and i've switched this for the other case okay as long as you do it real with real comps i've got this magic wand i'm going down i'm coming up i got this here like this now don't immediately do it you want to plant a time lapse now bit of time okay because people won't really remember you went down there with each passing second it fades right here hand to somebody else whatever your hands were empty they saw a bent coin maybe you even had it examined you dropped it into an empty card case they saw it was empty all the images are there this is here this is here at the very end you know they open it up they spill it out and they can keep the coin you know just really really powerful magic that's it the deep dive i told you i'd teach you guys a whole bunch of really cool different ways to bend so please practice this do it it's really fun also don't forget do not forget my friends leave a comment down below i want your
