so do you want to learn how to vanish a coin like this well if you do stick around and i'm gonna show you so when i first started this channel i didn't want it to become like a tutorial channel on how to do just a slight of hand moves and stuff like that because there's plenty of other resources out there which would be able to teach it much better than i can but recently i was putting together an explanation for my cylinder and coins routine i was going to put up as a download for anyone that wants it and there's a vanish that i came to in there which i'd forgotten the name of so i did a quick bit of research found out what the name was and it turns out it's called the himber vanish it's a classic vanish in magic which kind of any good coin magician will know and i started looking at other people doing it and there were tutorials on youtube of how to do it and stuff but to me none of them really showed it all that well and since it's already out there and people know it i may as well try and do my best to teach it uh how i think it's the right way anyway again i might be wrong this might not be the right way to do it i might be a but if you like the way it's done go ahead take my tips and if you don't like it then you know do something else so without any further ado let's get straight into it so i forgot to put this in there but the hindu vanish was first put out by richard himba in 1976 and also like and subscribe so there's two ways to kind of do this vanish there's the normal way which is like this and then you can also add a retention in which looks like this so let me just show you what the actual vanish looks like from a different angle here actually uh quickly just before we start that's better so the key points to this i feel are to have as little movement of the fingers as possible i think that's one of the core things with most coin magic it is kind of difficult it's one of those intermediate sort of vanishes but i feel like after you've kind of got the hang of like the french drop sort of thing and everything like that um and you're ready for a new vanish this is kind of what i would move on to basically the mechanics of the vanish is i'm dropping the coin and then pulling it back in with my pinky so i'm dropping onto my pinky and then pulling it back into the hand like like that and when i've seen this done badly i think one of the things is people will kind of clench up and keep it very close when really it can be done as just quite an open feeling sort of vanish rather than this thing that's like very controlled i i don't know if controlled is the right word but maybe just tense i guess like any kind of vanish i think in coin magic it's good just to kind of get the motion of what it should feel like without the vanish in place anyway so if you're just going to drop the coin from one hand into the other it would look like that right so i mean that's something that you do to start off with and from that now it's like okay now i've got to steal the coin with as little movement of the fingers as possible one of the points of this i think is to have the coin the right hand the left hand is kind of pointing to your right of course you translate this all if you're left-handed i'm right right-handed so the coin comes in with the right hand i drop it as i drop that pinky comes out just a little bit it's just enough to catch the coin like this so it's tilted down down out of the hand if that makes sense um you don't need to catch it right on the pinky and you don't need to catch it you know perfectly on the pinky or anything like that it's i i think the main point is that it lands on the pinky slanted downwards like that so i do that i catch it and one of the things that helps is as i close the hand the fingers you'll see the fingers kind of help so the fingers close and pull that coin over to now where it's balanced on my pinky as that happens i close the pinky it closes into the hand and goes into this uh i think that's like a nowhere palm or something there so that's kind of the move so i'm here i drop the fingers closed it gets pulled in and i've got the vanish like that boom boom so a good drill to kind of practice with this is just getting the motion of learning how to drop that coin onto the pinky every time and i've done this to the point where it feels weird just to put it in my hand normally i'd much prefer just sticking out my pinky and catching it um it will take some practice and muscle memory just to get the hang of it and i think it's uh it's probably easier with a big coin this is a morgan dollar but um actually hang on let me see yeah so this is a half dollar um no it's i guess a little bit trickier with a smaller coin so you're probably going to want to use something a bit bigger um just because of the weight and stuff you've got to be a bit more careful with it i guess but um it's still the exact same sort of premise where you just want to learn to drop that coin just onto that pinky so now once you've got the hang of just dropping that and you kind of got the vanish together where you can drop it into the hand pull it back and then show it empty um you can add a little bit extra in in there so like people kind of say with the french drop when you add a retention into the french drop where as i come in i leave these fingers open so that when i close them at the last minute you get that little flash of the coin still being in the hand you can do the exact same thing with this vanish where when i drop it i'll drop it and then you can actually flash the coin before closing the hand and showing that it's gone right so if i do that again there i'll open the hand just a little bit as i come firstly the coin drops before i open it and this will take some practice but just kind of keep doing it until you get it i guess you can add the retention basically almost by leaving these fingers kind of open and as you drop you tilt your hand down just a little bit to get the uh to give the audience the flash of the coin being there and then close it in the normal manner right so basically here drop flash and it's there i'm i'm kind of exaggerating this a little bit um it would look like that in real life uh and you'll see in the performance that it's it's kind of you know it's not a massive you don't want to be like completely exposing the coin and everything it's just kind of one of those things that it gets a quick flash uh before it goes another little thing i just want to point out is uh after you've vanished after you've put the coin in your hand uh don't point pointing's a bad habit just in general is an unnatural movement it doesn't look good and it adds nothing to the effect just put the coin in the hand there's no reason to tell people where it is i mean pointing to any part of your body is a bit weird uh pointing only makes sense if you're pointing at something that's away from you really i guess but if you're pointing to your hand i don't know it's just weird it doesn't doesn't work don't do it here's something else that i kind of forgot about i came up with it a little while ago it's probably not mine it's probably been done somewhere else um but here's the idea anyway it's pretty much doing the hinder vanish after you've put the coin in your hand so it looks something like that i guess and so all that's happening here is i'm putting the coin in my hand as i close the hand that that pinky comes out and the coin is then flipped onto the finger as i then pull it back into the hand again it's something that i've never really done somebody else has probably come up with it before but i thought i'd just include it on here um anyway so they had my tips on the himba vanish i'm doing this on day nine i think of being in quarantine now i've just got to figure out what to do with the rest of my day i've been sitting here for a while uh i might sit over there a bit later um before moving over there and then i'll probably go to bed and that'll be it to be honest i'm kind of just sick of being at home i don't know is the um opposite of homesick still homesick and if you enjoyed this content feel free
