things that our youth ministry is doing that our young people are doing from the nursery the king's kids the teens the college students all the way up through the young adults there have been awesome things going on in this season from vacation bible school to having the key the teens come out and serve with kingdom cares i want to take a moment to remind you all that communion sunday is coming up and so pickup will be taking place this saturday august the 28th from 12 p.m to 3 p.m and now i want to pause for a moment and lift up our families that have experienced loss in this season i want to start with dr john davies cole who passed away as well as brother kyle johnson and sister monica brown as well as sister tracy collins who lost her stepfather and barry morton and sister dolores tyler as well as mrs annie t randall the mother of sister laura crandon and i want us to join together with them and pray mighty god we are reminded in this moment that your word tells us that you are near the brokenhearted and that you save those who are crushed in spirit and now god as we intercede on behalf of our kingdom family members who have experienced loss we pray that you would show up in their lives that you would give them strength that you would walk them through their healing process god that you would comfort them and that when it is they feel weak when it is that they feel the burden and the weight of that loss god that they might find comfort and strength in you this is our prayer and we offer it in the master's name of jesus christ our savior amen um and now guys even in the midst of loss it's important to remember that god is still up to something and it's important for us to be able to contribute to what god is still able to do in this season we have some awesome things that kingdom fellowship is up to the kingdom building ministry the kingdom cares ministry god is up to some great things and now is the time to contribute to give to pour in to the god and to the kingdom that is consistently pouring into you so take some time now and reach out or do it in one of the ways that are below on the screen and give in the way that god is calling to you the way that god has placed it on your heart to give and now let's pray mighty god we thank you for the opportunity to contribute to the kingdom building that you are still doing god we thank you for the fact that you have given us the opportunity to serve in this way and we pray god that you add an extra blessing to our offering an extra blessing to our tithes such that it can impact the kingdom in the way that you desire it to impact the kingdom this is our prayer and we offer it in jesus name with thanksgiving amen and now let's hear a few words from our pastor kingdom focused well this is the day the lord has made i'm broadcasting from martha's vineyard the family came out and i came up to have some reconnection and refresh time apparently also to see half of the kingdom fellowship congregation because kingdom has taken over the island we up in here but we're excited to be here and to be refreshed and grateful for the opportunity to do so listen i want to share with you some information obviously we know that we're in the midst of the delta variant surge and it is having a terrible effect all over our country and certainly in the dmv region and as a consequence while we had planned to return to in-person sunday worship in september obviously it doesn't make sense to do that at this moment at some point we'll have to learn to live with uh this covet reality because it's not going to be over in november or december or even january but in the meantime we do want to make sure that we act with precaution and care and so our advisors are telling us we should just hold off a little while longer and so we will continue to provide the opportunity for you to come and be a part of our worship tapings when uh the praise team is ministering in song and i minister the word we do that on thursday night since you're more than welcome to be a part of that we are however increasing our safety protocol so from now on you will continue to register in advance to be socially distanced to wear your mask but now we're also requiring proof of vaccination now this standard is something that we're doing for we've already required for our leaders and our contractors as well uh as our staff and so it's appropriate that those who are in attendance uh comply with that same safety standard as we're seeing our government and private sector as well and so that goes not only for our thursday tables but unfortunately we have a number of homegoing services that we're going to conduct in person at the church those who will attend there they will also have to follow the same protocol in terms of registration proof vaccination and like we want to make sure that everyone is safe and we also want to make sure that we are doing everything to the glory and honor of god i want to thank you for your cooperation and your support and this effort certainly we're excited because god continues to bless us this day that we're celebrating our youth and our young people we're excited about what god is doing in their lives and in this season of their lives as a consequence so glad to have in the house brother richard talbot jr who is allowing god to use him in the ministry of the gospel through music and so grateful that he was able to come and be a blessing with us today but also so glad that we have a preacher in the house and the person of reverend marissa farrow who is a good friend of our congregation she's like my little sister i'm so proud and pleased with what god is doing in her life and ministry if you've never heard her before she is preaching somebody now that she has insight into the textbooks with equality and power and i'm grateful that with all that she's doing not only is she a preacher but she's a creative she has several businesses that she's operating and of course she continues to serve faithfully and dutifully on staff at the greater allen cathedral amy church in jamaica queens here with all this sister's got going on i'm so grateful got victory i'll never be defeated greetings kingdom fellowship family this is the day that the lord has made and we have come this morning for no other reason than to rejoice and to be glad in it i'm super excited to have the opportunity to share with you today in this fourth sunday and we give honor and praise this morning to your pastor your first lady we thank god for the entire kingdom fellowship family and we're excited about what the lord shall do today psalm 34 1 tells us this i will bless the lord at all times and his praises shall continually be in my mouth this message today is simply on how to behave in a cave fathers once more again that we come before your holy and your righteous name god by first thanking you for this day and for the blessing of being in this place father i thank you for the opportunity that you've given us to share your word now father i pray that you would do it only you can do meet someone at the point of their situation i pray now father that you would in fact rise up in me that people will hear what you have to say and not what i have to say father i thank you even now for giving us a word that is precise and right in jesus name amen how to behave in a cave my brothers and sisters it was a man by the name of charles r swindle who made the suggestion and coining the phrase that life is ten percent about what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it i always find it interesting that swindle says that it is about how you respond rather than how you react as it is that we have discovered throughout the course of life that when you respond to a thing you're given the opportunity in which you have taken to logically consider the course of events that are going on around you but when you react to a thing we often act out of irrational thinking and out of a place of frustration swindle suggests to us that when troubles and trials come your way that it is in fact your responsibility to respond and not react his assertion to us will say this that life is not about what goes on around you but rather the power that you use to control what goes on within you in other words what he is suggesting to us that it really is not about what happens to you but rather what you do in response to what happens but at this very moment i believe today that i'm ministering to someone who is likely saying to me preacher that ratio must change when i'm in front of something that is insurmountable because if you look at my life right here right now life and what's happening to me seems much bigger than anything that i can handle or take many people are dealing with that moment where they feel like they are in a dark place a broken place and many of us feel like we can't fix this or face this because we're in front of a two-phone storm two-fold storm and that not only are we stuck in what feels like the pandemic of this world but many of us are still dealing with the pandemic of our personal predicaments if it's not enough to be dealing with the pandemic of this world from government governmental dysfunction to economic unrest to jobs being unsure to people still being lost to death and disease it's another thing when i have to deal with the darkness of my own situation when my home is upset and my marriage seems to be on the rocks when it seems like my educational dreams are dying right in front of me when it feels like i have no social connectivity when finances are interfering it feels like the pandemic of my own situation is more than i can handle but today what i've come with is a message of hope to encourage someone to understand that right now is not contingent upon if the struggle slacks up for you but rather how you respond to it in other words your victory is not tied to if your situation slows down slacks upward changes but rather your victory is tied to how you respond to it in fact the question that i want to raise to you today is how would you respond knowing that what you do will dictate the victory that you have in your situation what i have discovered in life much like the assertion that charles r swindle makes to us is that victory is in fact in our hands because our deliverance often starts with a decision when we make up in our minds that we have the power to control what we do in our situations it gives us the perspective of understanding that god is in fact in control of every situation around us no matter how big it may seem what i have discovered in life is that perspective in fact matters because if we look at where we are today it would be easy to carry a burden of devastation perspective matters because if we look at where we are today many of us would feel hopeless if we look at where we are today many of us would feel lifeless if we look at where we are today many of us may even feel breathless but perspective matters because when you have a perspective about your problem it will help you to have faith to anchor yourself in the midst of situations so you learn how to respond to life rather than react to life and the text today is tailored to tell us that there is a man who we find who is dealing with a similar situation in other words y'all this text is tailored to tell us that in the personification of this scripture there are others who are dealing with the very same things that we are facing today being in a position where you must learn how to respond to your situation rather than react for in the text today y'all we find a man by the name of david who is an anointed man in a vicarious position can i say that again david is a man who is anointed by god but in a vicarious position the first thing that it indicates to us is that your position does not exempt you from peculiar placement i want to pause right there because i believe that there's somebody who's been wondering why you are placed where you are in this season i believe that there's somebody who's been raising questions to god asking him when are you going to pull me out of this when are you going to deliver me from this situation but perhaps today the perspective is that god may not pull you out of the situation because he's trying to teach you how to respond in it david is a man who is in fact anointed for the assignment because we know that when david was just a young man the anointing of god found him in a field where he was david in fact was anointed from last place because when samuel came to anoint the next king of israel we find that jesse had presented all of his sons except for david but in god's hands the anointing of god will find you wherever you are so the story is told that samuel then goes and anoints david out in the field but that is not enough y'all because when the anointing came upon his life he still had to get from anointing to authority don't you know that in life when you are in the journey between anointing and authority you're going to find yourself in some vicarious positions perhaps today the reason why you are where you are is because you are between anointing and authority but can i pause to tell you that there is nothing wrong with being on the journey between anointing and authority david yes david david is a man who is anointed for the assignment but between a thor anointing and authority he finds himself thrusted into the chase of his life because david is now serving under his then predecessor and finds himself thrown in the mix of the journey of a lifetime but this journey that he would be on unfortunately wasn't the one that i'm sure he imagined from who should have inevitably be inevitably been his mentor but he found himself dealing with being chasing by the man who should have been training him and in the midst of this chase in one of the occasions in which he was after david because of the jealousy found in the heart of saul he finds himself thrown into or rather running into a cave the text would have us to understand that just before david got to this cave he had to play insane in the presence of abimelech in order to escape the persecution that he was under isn't it interesting y'all that david is a man who is an anointed for an assignment finds himself in a vicarious position and is now stuck in a cave due to the persecution that he was under david is in a cave and he is now accompanied by other individuals and in that cave y'all he finds himself having to make a choice that do i choose to react in this moment or do i choose to respond but isn't it funny y'all that before we get to the place where david can decide whether he has to respond or react he is in this place because what he has been anointed for has thrusted him into a vicarious position don't you know that sometimes the very thing that you are anointed to do can cause you to be placed in some peculiar positions perhaps today the reason why you are where you are is because of the fact that you are anointed to do something greater david is a man who carries an anointed yet he is stuck in a cave which would help us to indicate that sometimes your promise and your placement don't always line up in other words there will be points in your journey and what you will find yourself wondering why where you are doesn't look like where you are going but the good news today the gospel the eugelion is that where i'm placed right now does not dictate to me the promise that is on my life persecution is a place of isolation desolation it is similar to the place in which david is physically located in a cave a cave a dark place a cave a place that can be cold a cave a place that can be considered isolation many of us right now find ourselves locked up in spiritual caves emotional caves we find ourselves locked up in financial caves and mental caves and we are trying to figure out what to do from a dark place but can i tell you that david teaches us something powerful david teaches us something magnificent david teaches us something that is so paramount to our victory in this season he teaches us how to behave in a cave because the good news y'all in this text today is that while david finds himself positioned in a very peculiar place he does not allow this place to dictate how he responds to his situation not only does he not allow it to dictate how he responds to his situation but he does not allow displacement to determine what he thinks about his promise how do you know how is that possible because as we read the text today we find that david's behaviors are indicative of a response rather than a reaction you can only find yourself in a place of victory you can only say that you have mastered your season when you are able to declare that i can respond to this rather than react to this and today i just wonder if i have somebody who is listening to this message who will make up in your mind today that i'm not going to react to this but i'm going to respond to this i know that i'm in a strange season but i'm going to respond to this i know that things don't feel like they're going my way but i'm going to respond to this i know that it feels like i'm in a heavy place right now but i'm going to respond to this why because when you respond to your situation you take a hold of your ability to do what you can do and then you put your faith in the hands of god to do what god does best that's what's happening with david in this text because david is in a vicarious position he's been anointed but he's in a peculiar place and y'all as we read the text today we find david teaching us how to behave in a cave because what david first says to us is that i will y'all the interesting thing about this text is that as i was reading it i recognize that what dave is doing is teaching us the first step to behaving in a cave he's teaching us that you must introspectively take a look at yourself in order to master your spirit in the midst of your struggle david says i will what that is is an indication of the fact that i only have the ability to control myself in the manner david doesn't say you will david doesn't even say what saul is going to do david doesn't even speak to what the cave ought to do but david speaks to the fact that he's made up in his mind that he's going to do something really what i stopped by to tell somebody today is that too many of us have allowed the enemy to take our power over ourselves in other words we allow our circumstances to dictate to us what we can do but what david is teaching us about how to behave in a cave is that when you are in moments of isolation you have to look at yourself introspectively and decide what it is you're going to do in other words y'all i have made up in my mind that i am no longer allowing what's going on around me to dictate what's going on inside of me and today i've really come to preach to somebody who needs to get your power back i came to teach to somebody who needs to declare over yourself that i'm grabbing a hold of myself i came to really talk to somebody who is making up in your mind at this very moment that i am no longer allowing the temperature of my environment to control the temperature that is within me i'm no longer reacting to these things but i'm going to control me because me is all i can control and what david says when he says that i will is he puts in his hands what he's able to do but then he goes a step further to put in god's hands what he needs god to do and that's what you got to do sometimes you got to take it out of your hands only control what you can control and that's yourself and give the remainder to god you have to look at yourself introspectively that means that you in and of yourself sometimes have to use that moment of isolation you got to use that cave experience to look at all of you and evaluate what you can do see the problem that many of us have is that we're too busy trying to control everything around us when god has only told us to manage ourselves yo david says that i will he declares that i'm gonna take a hold of me and today as i declare this message to you i just wonder if you can declare with me i'm getting a hold of myself i'm no longer allowing what's happening around me to control me i am no longer becoming stressed and anxious over things that i cannot change because the word tells me to be anxious for nothing in other words y'all i have the power to control my temperature and today i'm taking off the anxiety the stress the worry the frustration the depression the spirit of low self-esteem the spirit of fear because i am telling myself that i am getting a hold of me yo david says that i will what he does is take responsibility over his ability he takes a hold of himself and sometimes y'all the way to get through what you're going through is to simply get a hold of yourself i wish you would in fact tag somebody in the comment section and tell them neighbor you got to get hold of yourself but then david tells us not only will i he says but i'm going to bless the lord y'all i thought this was interesting because first david teaches us that in order to know how to behave in a cave we have to look introspectively at ourselves in other words use your dark place as a place of development but then david says to us that i will bless the lord y'all i thought this was unique i thought this was interesting because how is it that david has been pushed to a place of complete isolation and desolation and still make up in his mind that praise is appropriate for his predicament god have mercy i feel like there's somebody who has been struggling somebody who's been going through and you have eliminated the position of praise because you didn't know that in a dark place praise is still appropriate for your predicament but david teaches us that if you're going to be in a cave if what you are dealing with has pushed you into a cave-like season that you gotta make up in your mind that praise is still appropriate but this is what he tells us i'm gonna bless the lord because i choose y'all this is the perspective to use my cave not as a place of complexity but rather a place of covering and can i just pause parenthetically here to prophesy over somebody that where you are right now is not designed to be a place of complexity but it is in fact designed to be a place of covering think about it now david is on the run he is running from his predecessor saul who is after him and david finds himself in the midst of this dark place and y'all we don't like the dark place we don't like dark seasons we can't stand being in the dark maybe not physically but figuratively david is in a dark place but what you must understand about the structure of the cave that he is in is that it is a hut like building it is a structure that has the ability to not only have darkness but that darkness has the power to hide you from the person that is after you can i just pause here to tell you perhaps you're in the space that you're in right now not because god wants to push you to a dark place but because he wants to cover you from the enemy that is after you that's why you got to learn how to bless him even from your cave that's why david finds that praise is appropriate even in peculiar predicaments because he understands that it is important to use your cave not as a place of complexity but a place of covering for in the time of trouble what i have discovered is that god will in fact hide you and that's what david is dealing with right now he is not dealing with the god who's forgotten about him he's not dealing with a god who doesn't care for him but he is dealing with the god whose plans are so perfect for him that he has a strategy for his struggle god have mercy all i've really come to tell somebody at kingdom fellowship this morning is that god has a strategy for your struggle you ought to tag your best friend and tell them god has a strategy for my struggle i didn't know why he had me in a dark place i didn't know why it felt like i was in a place of isolation and desolation i don't know why i felt like i was at the end of my role but i have the faith enough to believe this morning that god is using this complex place to cover me perhaps where you are right now is covering you from a trap that is far bigger than the one that you see ahead of you david says i will bless the lord why because when you place your perspective in a position to understand that praise is appropriate from a peculiar place that would indicate that you have shifted your perspective to believe that no matter where you are god is still walking with you y'all the interesting thing about david is that he doesn't just tell us that he's going to look at himself introspectively i will get a hold of me he doesn't just tell us that he's going to praise from a peculiar place because praise is always appropriate but this is what he then says to us i will bless the lord at all times y'all what i love about the instructions that david has given us from this cave is that he is telling us that we are not ever allow our placement to determine our consistency god can i say it again david is teaching us that you are not ever allowed your placement to determine your consistency in fact you ought to just announce that over yourself because perhaps i'm there someone who is on this message this morning who has been inconsistent with god because you have been in a peculiar place but today david teaches us that you are not ever allowed your placement to determine your consistency why because your placement does not change your promise god have mercy david is anointed he is in a peculiar position but at the end of what he is dealing with david doesn't lose his anointing because of a problem he doesn't lose his power because of his position he doesn't lose his favor because of the frustration of where he is right now but at the end of the cave experience david still had a call over his life and when your perspective becomes fixed on the fact that what i'm in is not designed to kill me but increase me you can praise him from wherever you are whenever you are there when your perspective becomes fixed on the fact that you find yourself in peculiar positions but your response ought to be to still remain consistent with god who has remained consistent with you you then take on the mentality of the apostle paul who declared that in everything we ought to give thanks for this is the will of god in christ jesus which is concerning us whenever it is that you fix your perspective in the midst of your peculiar placement you would have mastered your ability to control yourself and respond to your situation that's when you have made up in your mind that at the end of my struggle he is still god and i still got a promise that at the end of my tears he is still god and i still have a promise at the end of my frustration he is still god and i still have a promise that's why i believe that david understood how to behave from a cave because david understood that the cave was not his final destination it is all a matter of how you look at your situation and today i've really come to tell somebody that you've got to change your perspective about your problem what you're in right now is not strong enough to cancel the anointing that is on your life if anybody knows what it is it is david who knows that the cave does not stop the palace promise the cave does not cancel out the promise that god has made for you your cave does not eliminate the fact that you are still called by god your peculiar placement right now does not dictate the destiny that is on your life and that's why david made this declaration from a strange place that i will bless the lord at all times and his praise shall continually be in my mouth and today i just wonder if there's anybody who from a dark place will make up in your mind that god is still worthy of your consistency i wonder if there's somebody who in an interesting place would just take an introspective look at yourself and determine what it is you need to do to realign yourself with the same consistency that god has with you i just wonder if there's anybody who can find victory from their dark place and can i tell you y'all that i recognize that sometimes the cave seems to be bigger than what you can handle i recognize that sometimes the cave can seem darker than what you are capable of dealing with i recognize that sometimes your position can feel more problematic than you feel like you are capable to handle but what i've come to tell you is that the cave is not designed to kill you but it is designed to develop you the cave is not designed to take you out but rather increase your capacity the cave is not designed to kill your dreams but increase your vision how do you know because whenever it is that you can master how to behave in a cave you will have been able to say that i have built a strength that is unmatched when you learn how to handle the temperature of your environment it would be a victory that nobody can take away from you and listen y'all today i'm standing in this place this place of covering this place of cave this place of darkness this place of isolation but i want you to understand that victory
