the Kansas City Chiefs did a really really good job not only containing quarterback Lamar Jackson but they basically shut this guy down minus two drives towards the end of the game La Jackson really didn't have that good of a game and it's a big reason why the Ravens ultimately only ended up with 10 points on the offensive side the Ravens coming into this game were one of the most explosive offenses we had seen this season and of course the Chiefs did something that I think teams should do as they kind of continue to play a Lamar Jackson in this Baltimore Ravens style of offense today of course we're going to analyze the tape let's just get right into it all right you guys let's go ahead and just get into this film breakdown we're going to look at this 30 yard touchdown pass that Lamar Jackson had to Z flowers this was probably the best play I saw from Jackson against the Chiefs really really nice shot now obviously Lamar Jackson is one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL I think everybody agrees with that at this point but the way the Chiefs actually attack on this play right here is kind of Hal the Chiefs attacked over the course of this game uh you'll see a couple of things within this play and we'll go ahead and point it out here in a second but Lamar Jackson Man the guy's a phenomenal quarterback and I just got to state that before we fully get into this because Lamar Jackson is a really really good quarterback and I don't think there's anybody that disagrees with that and I definitely don't disagree with it but here's an interesting thing thing that I think a lot of people are not going to notice so first and foremost the Chiefs are going to end up bringing Five Guys across the board and they're going to drop back one of their defensive tackles you got a linebacker that's going to come off the edge then you got another guy out here and I think this is one of the things that you have to do if you're going to beat Lamar Jack you got to contain him within the pocket you got to make sure that he's not allowed to get out of the pocket because that is where Lamar Jackson is is by far the most deadly player I want to point two things out within this play so just backing this up here notice how the cornerback here that's on Rodney Stanley isn't even really pass ringa he's more so just keeping his eyes into the back field he's more so just looking at Lamar and he's more so going to make sure Lamar is not able to get to his left so when you see Lamar break this tackle right here notice how Lamar is going to start taking steps to his left side and look at how the safety is goingon to make sure to overplay that the safety is not going to allow Lamar Jackson to roll out there and get over to the left side so with that Lamar is being contained so that's a great job to make sure Lamar Jackson stays within the pocket now the other thing you're going to notice is as Lamar isn't able to get over here to the left he's actually going to look with his eyes over here to the right and he's going to want to get out of here towards the right but watch what this linebacker does here to make sure that doesn't happen he makes sure to contain Lamar Jackson to the right side even if he doesn't get Lamar Jackson even if he doesn't actually tackle him and bring him down for a sack he's going to just make sure Lamar isn't able to get out of there to the right you'll also see a another defensive tackle here lined up over the right tackle if you keep an eye on him he's not going to really pass rush at a certain point he's going to just get his eyes in the back field and then look at him overplay this to the right here to make sure Lamar Jackson is not able to roll that way he's going to run all the way around the right tackle here to make sure Lamar isn't able to get out of the pocket so this is how you got to play Lamar Jackson contain him within the pocket and force him to make passes on this one Lamar Jackson obviously won because he was able to complete this 30 yards say a flowers but trust me when I say this he wasn't always able to win take this play right here as an example so you're going to get a cover one man-to-man defense across the board and uh you're going to also get a blitz so the Kansas City Chiefs are basically going to end up blitzing one extra guy and when they Blitz they're going to once again contain Lamar Jackson they're going to make sure Jackson's not going to be able to get back the pocket so once again you're going to bring a blitz and once again you're going to contain this so as these guys are going to Blitz you'll see two guys within this place specifically they're going to take containment so you're going to get the defensive end here who is going to take containment first uh you can see him take a very wide pass rush and then on the other end you'll see Nick Bolton number 32 also come off the right Edge he's also going to end up taking a a wide angle to the right he's going to make sure to not let Lamar Jackson get out of the pocket again this is exactly what the Chiefs did over the course of this game they blitzed Lamar Jackson they forced him to stay within the pocket and then the interior guys got it done you know Chris Jones got a little bit of pressure as you'll see right here on this second and nine play Jones is going to line up over left guard John Simpson who I think is a pretty good guard but Chris Jones is argu the best defense tackle in the NFL and he crushes Simpson on this one so much where Lamar Jackson almost throws an interception so this be a great job right here but one of the things note within this play is once again the Kansas City Chiefs as they're going to Blitz Lamar Jackson with number 32 Nick Bolton off the right Edge they're also going to end up bringing a cornerback who also comes off with the slot here and once again they're going to box in Lamar Jackson they're not going to let him get out of there and they're going to let their guys on the inside win they're going to once again Force Lamar Jackson to have to throw the football I talked about this in my video last week where I broke down the uh Baltimore Ravens offensive line and one of the things this offensive line does a lot is they go out there with a true fiveman protection and what that means is you're basically going to get five offensive linemen up against four defensive linemen and of course the running back will come in and he'll pick up any sort of Blitz before he releases but this is a true five on four situation so what ends up happening is when the Chiefs bring one or two extra guys there's just not enough people to ultimately pick up every single person so with that obviously the Kansas City Chiefs did a great job attacking that fiveman protection and when you're going to go one-on-one Chris Jones against whoever it is often times Chris Jones is going to end up winning right and these are the type of things that over the course of game really impacted Lamar Jackson and kept him from having the type of game we've seen him have multiple times over the past couple of Seasons now I want to go ahead and point this play out right here you're going to actually get a three yard sack this is the fumble where the defensive end got to Lamar Jackson and I want to point this play out because you can see Lamar Jackson almost threw the football and you also see that as he play action this which he does here you'll see him kind of take these steps over here to the right but he's going to actually look this way towards the left so you'll see that with his body position with the body angle he positions himself to the left so that's the way he wants to throw this and you'll see that he also loads up and is about to throw this pass as the pass gets stripped I'm going to take you guys to the all 22 angle of this play and you guys can see exactly where Lamar Jackson was going to throw this pass if this pass ultimately does get completed if Jack does have the time to get this ball out this may be a touchdown to the wide receiver running here the defensive back here ends up taking the wide receiver before he realizes that you got a receiver running deep here and Jackson was going to take his shot obviously the play ended up not working could have been a touchdown and maybe it wouldn't have been completed who knows maybe one of the safeties or Corners makes a play on the football maybe Lamar Jackson just overthrows it uh but the Ravens Drew this play up and the pressure actually got home uh so this is a great job by the defensive ENT to be able to bring down Lamar Jackson strip the ball and of course you see the other defensive EV ends up picking it up now all the plays you guys have seen up to this point have been from the first half of this game uh this play is also from the first half this was right before the uh the half ended so uh 2 minutes left in the second quarter this was third down and you're going to see Lamar Jackson's can actually miss his wide receiver one of the things you'll see with this play is the going to be six guys at the line of scrimmage and you'll end up seeing that the Chiefs are going to bring one extra guy off the left side number 32 Bolton's going to come off the left side he's going to once again contain Lamar Jackson now one of the interesting things with this play is when you back it up here the Chiefs are actually showing cover zero across the board uh you can see that the linebackers are clearly going to Blitz you can see the safeties and the corners are all in man-to-man coverage so Jackson already knows where he's going to go with the football on this play right priest snap he knows exactly where he's going to go so as the Chiefs bring the blitz they contain Jackson Jackson knows where he's going to go it is up to Jackson and the wide receiver to be able to complete this and they're not going to be able to so essentially what the Chiefs are doing is they're saying hey if you're going to go out there with five or six guys we're going to just bring an extra guy off the edge and we're going to make Lamar Jackson hit his passes and complete his passes and it obviously did not work in the first half but the Ravens actually did make one adjustment going into the second half I want to show you guys that adjustment right here that adjustment was the Raven started putting more guys on the line of scrimmage to ultimately chip and to help as the Ravens are going to ultimately throw the football on this one here obviously you see the fullback number 42 recard end up staying in chip like he does a really good job here helping the right tackle you'll also see on this play here as number 80's lined up here he's going to make sure that no one's able to Blitz off the edge no one ends up coming because he would end up chipping that guy before he releases now in this in inance he's going to just flat out run his route um and you're going to see the quarterbacks going to throw this hot to the running back but this was one of the adjustments that Ravens made in the second half and for a little bit it definitely worked here's an example of that here the Kansas City Chiefs are going to end up bringing these guys up to the line of scrimmage likely he's going to end up staying in to influence the defensive end make sure he's not able to take a speed rush and he's he's going to end up chipping on this play and on this one you're going to see the quarterbacks going to hit Z flowers for 54 yards on this one um so this is a great Jack great job right here by Lamar Jackson but as the Baltimore Ravens made their adjustment the Chiefs came out and went ahead and made an adjustment of their own which is in the fourth quarter they stopped blitzing uh they ended up blitzing Jackson Less in the fourth quarter than they did earlier in the game uh they still showed Blitz uh but they ended up not blitzing and uh I felt like that was one of the key things the Chiefs did in this in the fourth quarter that allowed them to have a little bit of success because what that allows you to do is when you're only bringing four guys that means you have more guys in coverage now so you only bring four guys and you get a bunch more guys in coverage and on this play here Lamar Jackson's going to throw it up and this one's going to get intercepted so really really nice shot right there by Bush to be able to intercept the pass uh but I like this adjustment from the Chiefs as well you know keep the containment on Lamar Jackson make him actually throw the pass and make him beat you through the air and obviously the Chiefs are able to have success because Lamar Jackson wasn't able to have that same success as he was really contained within the pocket we're going to look at two more plays uh this was third and five this was the final play that the chiefs were on the defensive side you're going to see the Chiefs once again drop back in the coverage and Lamar Jackson's not going to have anywhere to go with the ball and ultimately he's going up throwing the ball away so that's a good job right there by the Kansas City Chiefs defense to play coverage but at the same time contain Jackson and really not let him get out of the pocket you'll see that the pass rush from the defensive ends just really isn't there and I think that's all by Design so that's a great strategy to have to come up and and defend Lamar Jackson but I do want to point out one final play here because I do think this play right here flipped the entire game uh this was a second and eight the Kansas City Chiefs called The Blitz and uh the Ravens ran their Blitz beater which is just a straight up drag rout across the middle of the field and Superstar players make Superstar plays and in this one you're going to get sne to punch the ball out and I think this play right here flips the entire game because this was the fourth quarter uh if the Ravens score here it's a three possession game and just like that you flip the entire game you flip the entire script because now the Chiefs recover a football they're up by two possessions it's already the fourth quarter and I felt like this was just a really really nice heads up play by sne right just a really really good job to be able to punch the ball out and really think this one through right here right he knew as soon as Z flowers had the football probably at some moment right about here that I'm going to go and I'm going to try to swap the football out of his hands I'm going to try to punch the ball out and obviously that ended up working so that's a really really good job right there I hope you guys enjoyed this video I hope you guys learned something new congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs for making the Super Bowl if you guys enjoy this video do consider subscribing and I will see you guys next time with another video
