How Scot Schmidt Impressed Warren Miller | Outlook

you know I'd worked with a couple of photographers and got a picture in pattern magazine and then the next year Gary Nate Warren Miller's film crew shows up in Valley you'd seen the tracks that we've been leading through the off the Palisades and off the Eagles Mastan the marketing department gotta shoot the ski school guys and he goes no I want to shoot the guys they're leaving the tracks who are these at Rat Pack abused and yeah however we were parted a loose Rat Pack and all the guys had their passes bolts we were doing neon while having long hair and being rowdy and knocking stuff over and you know guys and Gary came out with us and he just was floored we went up k22 to the Eagles Nest and Scott hikes up to top and I look up there and I say hey this is great and I'm filming away and I'm going Scott act like you're gonna ski that this is really a great shot as I pulling out somebody whisper in my ear he is gonna skid so Warren sees the footage then obviously he reached out to you so talk about that that interaction that must have meant a lot to you at that point I mean you're so young yeah I you know I was kind of falling out of the racing thing I didn't know what to do next McGary maid had left Valley I you know I didn't think too much about it and a couple of weeks later I get a letter from Warren Miller the man you have you still have this letter I have the original copy Oh written on his original old typewriter you know the old things so I showed it to him the other day he was thrilled he remembers writing it it changed my life forever and what did it say it said you know basically dear Scott the footage of you leaping through space and Valley was the most spectacular footage it's ever coming to my office if you want unsafe my next time my crews go to foreign country to film a segment would you be interested signed Warren Miller
