this is queen victoria i've reconstructed her faces to show how she looked throughout her life thanks for watching subscribe for more historical recreations and let me know in the comments who you like to see in real life queen victoria's reign was britain's longest reign of a monarch it spans 63 years and it was only surpassed by the current queen elizabeth ii during a reign britain saw a period of industrial political scientific and military growth but it all wasn't roses and daisies before victoria was born britain was a constitutional monarchy and headed by king george iii he was victoria's grandfather by 1817 george iii was 79 had only one legitimate grandchild the daughter to his eldest son she died in 1817 and this led to a succession crisis though george iii had many children by this time his daughters were past childbearing years and his sons were either estranged from their wives or not married the unmarried sons soon rushed to find a wife victoria's father was the fourth son of the king the third son had produced two children but they died in infancy so when victoria was born she would succeed the throne after her older uncles victoria was born may 24 1819 but less than a year later her father died in 1820 then king george iii died three weeks later the eldest son became king was george iv seven years later the second son died in 1827 and then king george iv died in 1830. the third son william was the last surviving older uncle before victoria and he became king william he wanted to live until victoria became 18 because according to the rules her mother the dutches of kent would become regent if victoria assumed the throne before 18. [Music] the king did not like the duchess and did not find her fit for the role the duchess was extremely protective of victoria she created this strict set of rules called the kensington system that basically suffocated victoria therefore victoria had a very sheltered childhood she wasn't allowed to play with many children her age who the duchess did not like victoria rarely or never met and so the princess spent her day studying and playing with her dolls when victoria was a teenager she along with her mother's supposed lover sir john conroy and victoria's mom went on a set of tours william did not like this and it tired victoria out her mother dismissed the king's complaints and continued with the tours the duchess constantly pressured victoria to make conroy a part of victoria's staff but victoria didn't like the men so she said no in 1836 victoria was about 17 years old and at this time her maternal uncle king leopold of belgium hoped to marry her to his nephew albert king william preferred her mary into the dutch royal family so victoria became the bachelorette and met a bunch of single guys but once she saw albert she knew he was the one victoria got the throne after her 18th birthday in 1837 king william's wish came true and he died after a regency became void by now victoria was at the right age to get married but she didn't want to rush into it with albert as an unmarried woman social protocol stated she had to live with her mother so she put her mother into a suite in the far corners of buckingham palace and refused to see her when she got married to albert in 1840 she couldn't wait to get rid of her mom and so she did and she evicted her this marked the turning point in victoria's life from child to adult and the rest of her adult life was nothing short of events [Music] during the 40s victoria had a few assassination attempts and each time her popularity rose because of her survival her first assassination attempt was in 1840 when she was pregnant with her first child twice in 1842 once in 1849 and she was assaulted in 1850. during the 50s victoria led a relatively normal monarcho life despite having nine children victoria hated being pregnant she thought newborn babies were ugly and she despised breastfeeding but as monarchs victoria and albert were discouraged from using contraception [Music] the 60s were tough in 1861 victoria's mother died reading her diaries victoria realized her mother loved her deeply and blamed conroy for poisoning their relationship at this time albert tried to comfort victoria but was unwell more so their heir prince edward involved himself with an actress while off at university this was scandalous and father went to visit sun in cambridge but albert died the same year from typhoid victoria was devastated and blamed her husband's death on worry over her son's philandering she wore black for the remainder of her life and rarely went out for public appearances though she did carry out her duties the self-imposed isolation diminished the popularity of the monarchy her companion john brown comforted her and he helped her through the rest of the 60s and 70s the 70s were met with more stress she was threatened by a gun in 1872 but at the time she needed the popularity boost and that gave her it then in 1878 her daughter died the same day as prince albert victoria noted the coincidence of dates as almost incredible and most mysterious the 80s started on a sour note it began with her last assassination attempt in 1882 her popularity rising again after that she got plagued with rheumatism then both john brown and her youngest son died but it turned around in 1887 when she celebrated her golden jubilee she was 68 years old this marked 50 years on the throne 50 kings and princes were invited and it was a big party by now victoria was extremely popular and then she met abdul kareem she would soon promote him as munchie and he would teach her urdu and would occupy a similar role as john brown did her biggest moment in the 90s was her diamond jubilee in 1897 having been the only british monarch at the time to celebrate 60 years on the throne queen victoria lived a very eventful life and earned her time to rest on january 22nd 1901 at the age of 81. she reigned for 63 years her son would succeed her as king edward who would begin the edwardian age at her funeral she wore a white dress with her wedding veil albert's dressing gown was beside her with a plaster of his hand and then in her left was a lock of john brown's hair and a picture of him [Music] you
