How Much Does It Cost To Travel Full Time?

hey everybody hello steven jess here we've realized that with all our traveling that we do sometimes we just never just sit down and chat to you and we want to do more of that where we just chat about anything or just keep you guys updated and we thought the perfect ways to do a q a so we like reached out to you guys last week i think it was on facebook instagram and you blew us with all the questions so we do apologize if we don't get to your question this time also if you're just watching this go grab yourself a tea go grab yourself a coffee because i don't know how long this q a is going to go for because we haven't done one of these in a long time since christmas it was a christmas yeah yes so i also realized i gave stephen the most girliest coffee cup that's right because it holds the coffee also do you like my new t-shirt i never get new t-shirts gotta point it out because i'm such an oddly shaped person that i never get shirts that fit he was very excited that he found this brand he's already been going online trying to find more that fit him yeah cause a small in one store is not a small in another store so finding one like yes i just need to buy your entire wardrobe steven like can't shop online because he's just too little like well it's because at the moment there's a trend where all the guys t-shirts are like dresses i call them the kanye west trend yeah and he puts them on and they are literally down to his knees anyway interesting fun facts there also in this video we're going to tell you like where our next trip is as well so you have to stay tuned for that yes alrighty so the first question is from elora and she says what country do you guys want to visit the most and what country do you recommend your viewers should visit the most oh good yes with this question i thought we would give our five places that we really want to go to and then five places we've been that we recommend you guys should go to that sounds good okay so the five places that we are desperate to get to actually just sprung these questions on the other hand yeah we haven't that was your instagram i'm guessing yes we haven't actually thought about it so i think the five countries that we really want to go to because steve and i are quite similar with our taste so i feel like one would definitely be iceland definitely iceland and while we're there in that region walter mitty convinced me to go to greenland oh yeah i really want to go to greenville i haven't seen many people go there no because i think it's super duper expensive yeah the same as norway that's why we haven't been there yet wait did i say norway iceland it's norway iceland greenland such like that area already probably finland oh god it's the scandinavian i know well let's just group them together then because that's not fair uh india yeah i was gonna say that india's been on top of our bucket list for so long and we just need to get out there and while we're in that region as well sri lanka some friends of ours went there saw their videos and i was like i really want to go there philippines has just been on the bucket list for so long that we just need to get it out of the way um so philippines is up there as well and then our fifth one what one do we talk about a lot i really want to visit russia russia and do the trans-siberian train is that in russia that's in russia yeah okay russia then that's that's something that's up there and because we're super thankful in how much we travel so we're definitely looking for like different experiences some unique countries that we haven't seen too many people go to you were even mentioning pakistan the other day yeah pakistan as well and really opening up to baltics and like bosnia and those countries like i think when we visited slovenia we're like hey there's other countries in this region of europe that we want to get to i think we've listed about 10 countries so sorry our bucket list is very long five countries that i recommend that you guys have go to that we've been to number one south africa oh okay interesting i think so like japan is on every aussie buck but you have to go like if you're going on another trip like if you're planning a trip my number one top tip is japan also we'll i card these series up some yeah we have some really fun series especially our japan series we'll put south africa in there yeah definitely south africa is a place you have to visit it's so cheap and it's just amazing i mean i'm south african so i think you'll be interested that's how i was going to say your advice but cape town amazing i really enjoyed peru recently out of the countries that we visited in south america it wasn't much it was like four five four five peru was just dripping with culture highly recommend you guys go there am i being biased by saying greece greece is good greece is very special for us but i also think it's like an amazing like kind of romantic holiday getaway so if you're looking for that romantic holiday greece and then the fifth one we can't say canada we say canada every time i really enjoyed visiting israel because a lot of people said don't go to israel to us and we've done plenty of videos on the subject but it's really interesting to visit places that the media just rips to shreds like we visited jordan to see the lost city of petra one of the top bucket lists there was like 200 people there because the media can ruin tourism for a place that's why also i really want to go to turkey yes because a lot of people are now a bit nervous to go to turkey but i really want to go yeah okay you guys will also have to give us your five places that you want to go to and also five places you recommend people go to leave it in the comments because i want to check them out to see if there's anything we've missed yeah okay so nikki on instagram asked when you left on your first year traveling how much did you save and how long did it last you oh that's a really good question yeah that's a really good question because i'm the finance people you should but if you're new around here and you don't know three three and a half years ago stephen and i left for a year of travel worked as much as we could saved as much as we could and yeah left to try and travel for a whole year and we did succeed we lasted the whole year 365 days been on you can we also vlogged every single day that entire year so if you have a lot of time on your hands you can binge watch that series but anyway so stephen what was the fine art so before we left we did pre-books and things so we had pre-booked our flights which cost us quite cheap about seven hundred dollars and then we'd also hawaii to hawaii and we'd also pre-booked four months accommodation already to the equivalent of maybe four or five thousand dollars but we saw those first bit as kind of like a holiday yeah we weren't exactly looking for the cheapest place so just say we had spent already five grand we left with 14 grand australian australian dollars and that kept us going for the full year however we did win that awesome competition which gave us like an eight thousand ten thousand dollar travel voucher which kept us going so we used that we ended up using that for six months worth of flights so that helped a lot so i guess you need to put that into account which would be another eight thousand yes and also i was kind of running an online marketing business maybe making four or five hundred dollars a month like payouts but it was like for food i feel like we spent a lot more than we should have in that year we we aren't the best at we splurge easily like if we get a bit excited sometimes we'll splurge so i feel like in that whole year we spent 30 000 i think so i think i i'll have to maybe look into my finances but that's a pretty good that's for two people that's for a couple yeah and that's for someone that's not that bad then i feel i'm just thinking we didn't hit up asia at all that year you know asia and live in like bali that's true we did canada america europe and africa during that year everything else was super expensive okay so yeah we spent 30 000 in that year so the next question is from tropic anna and she asked two questions cool she asks cheeky is it your goal of yours to visit every country in the world and if you were to live abroad again where would you want to live i don't know if i necessarily need to see every country in the world no we definitely don't country count or anything like that i mean if we if we got into a position where we could go and see each country in like a reasonable manner like if we could go a week in every country in the world that would be cool but we've never like thought about doing that it's more we just want to we've personally over the last three years checked off a lot of huge bucket lists now we're kind of looking for places that we didn't think of or we just came across or places you guys recommend i'll die happy if we don't see every country in the world it's not a big thing for us no we just need to see places we want to visit but we definitely haven't lost the travel bug so we definitely want to keep traveling the next question was about living abroad where would you want to live abroad if you could live abroad again i would love to base ourselves in europe because you could then see a lot of countries in europe um it would be so bad but i'd love to just base myself out of like london but i feel like that's just that it'd be big city vibe couldn't afford that but then we could see more of europe we love the idea of living in london or new york it's like always that kind of dream but we know it's like unrealistic sometimes because it is quite pricey so i feel like if you were to do that and you didn't have the money then it could stop traveling yes definitely yeah so i would love to do it but it's not in our immediate plans to do another live abroad yet so the next question is from eugena and they ask what is the worst food you've ever tried you can go first i really dislike durian sorry for all the malaysians out there because we did do a video we tried durian and i said i didn't like it and a lot of people got upset but a lot of people it's just like a lot of asians don't like blue cheese right and that's like why is that the thing to represent because it's like the weird western thing that western has eaten blue cheese but it also stinks and smells like vomit i don't like blue cheese and i don't like durian so there we go yeah i think it's durian it it's sorry even though you've tried weird things like raw jellyfish and sea urchins that was fine that had some flavor some texture to it you can't put a texture on it i'm sorry all right the next question is whose idea was it to start a youtube channel and when did you guys decide to pursue it as a career interesting whose idea do you think it was for youtube i think youtube was definitely my idea yeah i think the blog was your idea yeah yeah which is good because now i kind of run the blog and stephen runs the youtube channel and that works out well the youtube channel is a team effort i just edit the videos he does a lot of work for the channel also i would say that the reason that i never was that keen on youtube at the beginning is because i was so nervous to film myself on camera when we filmed our first ever video you're getting triggered right now because this we've never filmed in this room as a sit down video since that first video oh yeah the first ever video we filmed i think we filmed it a couple of times halfway through i started crying because in my head i was like oh my gosh i can't even sit down and do this video and i'm expected to film a video every single day and i remember my heart used to race and i used to feel really sweaty and i'd like mumble on my words but now like i don't even feel anything that's good i know you've come a long way bro yeah and i get a lot of questions being asked like how do you vlog and stuff because i'm scared to film myself but it's literally just just practice every single day and then it becomes normal because before i could never talk to a camera yeah i think it was like the two-year mark where we started feeling comfortable vlogging it took a long time so are you vlogging like enthusiasts out there just keep going and it wasn't more like we started feeling comfortable it's like it took two years before we could we felt like we were just ourselves on camera yes because you know when a camera's on you you change oh honey you become another person but after the two years i think we started realizing when we're turning the camera on and off nothing changed which is nice so you guys are kind of seeing us yeah as we are now oh and when did you guys start to pursue youtube as a career i whenever we chat like business with youtube which is always a little bit strange i feel like chatting on camera with you guys but that's because we never started as a business no we've been doing it for we keep saying three and a half years we literally only started seeing it as business six months ago yeah so it was like three years of us doing it as just like we were just doing it to to kind of travel because it gave us opportunities yeah it let us go around the world but then we never saw it as like our career like this is what we're gonna do forever and like it was like six months ago where we were like i think this could be our job we're loving it so much our plans for the future with this channel is that this can support a family so that's kind of our goal moving forward with getting potential sponsored videos and posts and all those type of things that's our main goal is to get it to a point where we have enough money savings and all that that we can have a family because of course our kind of job at the moment is very unpredictable if you are a entrepreneur that freelances you know like a paycheck can come one week and then three weeks zero so that's why you guys supporting us helping telling your friends getting more subscribers more eyes on these views is gonna help us grow family and that's definitely our next goal so thank you so much but i'm not president by the way and we are not having a kid this year because i was like if i kept getting comments on my videos saying jess looks pregnant she's gonna die of it i will cry so trust me no kids are happening this year like we have a lot of other plans instead so don't ask me that question if you want about this much but i love watching youtube whenever i go on flights i get really anxious on flights and the thing that makes me not anxious is i'll literally just watch youtube videos and pretend i'm not on my planet tell them how because there's no internet in the plane oh so what we use is youtube red which is uh we so we don't subscribe to netflix or anything instead we subscribe to like the youtube version of netflix which is called youtube red and you can download youtube videos offline for free which is amazing so literally before my flight i just look at my subscriptions and then just download a bunch of videos that will last me like the six hour flight and i'll just binge watch youtube the whole time and it makes the flights go so fast but there's some people i like would be for like the travel people i really like watching the bucket list family because i love watching i live vicariously through them because i don't want a baby now but i love to watch families that travel so the buckley's family i've been pretty good they're good i've been really getting into sailing la vega bond which is a couple they're from australia and they've been sailing around the world which i find very unique so i've been loving watching them so those are two my probably my two favorite travel people and then just the ones that like you know you're you just lie back and just enjoy and you don't care what they put on but you just watch all the videos i've been really getting into sprinkle of glitter heidi got me into her i've never watched her before she's like a uk mum well i've watched a lot of like mummy vlogs this is bad i know this is bad and there's another one called sorry i'll just say my four so it's sprinkler glitter which is like a really random channel but i really like it and my other one again is another like family channel and they're called our tiny tribe okay so she has a vlog and it's her and her husband and they've just had a baby and live in the uk and are really enjoying that as well steve steven and i have like completely different tastes on youtube i love watching vloggers family vloggers home vloggers and i think that's mainly because we travel so much that i don't have that normality and i don't have that home life so i live through them and that's my taste of being a home person and a mom oh i'd shane dawson i'm sorry i forgot him yeah shane's pretty good he's that one person on youtube where if his video comes up i have to watch it no matter where i am i'm like steve sorry i have to sit down and watch this 30 minute video because they've been so long lately his videos are awesome he's been doing series love him love him i think he's my favorite youtuber well speaking of shame bobby burns has also been pretty good he like has because he's like a filmmaker vlogger so i really liked watching him for inspiration he liked his style hey yeah i like his style like he captures moments he's good with his friends see stephen watches to see like how they film and stuff and then if someone films like an hour vlog at home on a phone i'm happy i'll watch it so i'm pretty basic when it comes to my youtube i'm a giant nerd so i love watching like game theory and film theory but then if we're talking about vloggers i do enjoy watching casey and peter mckinnon but also a youtube channel i've been really into at the moment we take we're testing their products they've sent it out to us but it's moment lenses there's two dudes there that run the channel and the way that they film it like it's all to sell their lenses but the way that they vlog and integrate the products into it i've been watching them go check them out absolutely awesome in terms of content you need to watch them like okay they're really fun and it's really interesting because it's just all branded content for what they sell but the content they make is really well it's really it's done really well okay i know this vlog is going to be long if i've almost finished that's what i was thinking i've always finished my coffee and my coffee's going a bit cold another fun fact i love my coffees boiling hot to the point that they're burning my tongue and once they turn any like lukewarm i can't drink it anymore and then stephen finishes it for me she's like those annoying old people are going to coffee shops and like can you burn it yeah i was like make it hot make it extra hot make it so hot it'll burn my tongue and then they do it and they're like here's your burnt disgusting coffee and i'm like yay thanks the more it burns my tongue the better okay the next question is from kirsten and she says what vlogging cameras are you guys currently using now we get this question a lot and um we use so many cameras that i don't think it's a good time to like just say more there's a link below link or like our favorite kit or something and just click that if you're ever interested in what we use because we use a lot of gear and um that is like probably our most last question so i just thought we'll pop that in there just so you guys could um know what we use alrighty so the next question is we love watching you guys and your travels thank you so much what do you think is the hardest thing about traveling as a couple well we get this question a lot and i feel like we might have a little bit of experience on this yeah if you guys want like a full video on this discussing a lot more into depth let us know below and we can do one but in terms of like the brief notes version of it well i firstly think that as a couple before you even move in together you should go on a trip together because i feel like as they say a holiday or a trip with someone like someone could um make or break a relationship i really feel like you find someone's true self when you travel with them even more so than like moving in together i don't know why i just feel like travel is a good test for a relationship i think because you put into situations that can be stressful yeah that's true money's involved there's a lot other things involved there's people's interests involved yes it's hard to answer because i think that we're lucky that we have very similar interests and we like we have the same travel style we like to walk everywhere for example we like to go do adventurous activities in terms of like countries we have very similar tastes so that all just meshes in actually i thought of something okay my number one advice would be to be able to compromise because i feel like if you're traveling with someone even as a friend not to someone in a relationship where you really want to do something and they really want to do something then you should try and find time to do both things you know you love that crazy adventure stuff and it helps because it pushes me to do it but if it was just me without you there i probably wouldn't i've done the adventure stuff i would have gone and done something different i know you want to do it so i'm like let's go do that and then you'll be like let's go eat because i want to go to nice restaurants my favorite thing i think is like going out and finding cool places to eat where stephen like doesn't really care where we would go and eat he's like a huge huge foodie yeah you let me choose you're like yeah let's go wherever i'm always up for something though yeah number one thing is compromise number two is if you're traveling full time with them you need to know that you need to give each other like alone time so you know there's some nights where stephen's like i can tell he just wants to like chill out play some video games for a couple of hours and like that's fine then i'll go do something so you're not always on top of each other you know what i mean like you've you've got your time away and then you come back together again yeah are those good yeah maybe we'll put something more together in a bigger video we're lucky because we don't fight too much and if we are having an argument we're very good at stepping away and going okay i know that we're having like an argument at the moment let's step away have our own time and then come back and talk about it i don't know this has now turned into couples there i hope that made sense but um if a girl wants to eat just go let her eat take her to that restaurant honestly hangry is the worst if someone starts getting hungry you go fix that that can ruin travel oh yeah go eat alex asks does the traveling life get a little too overwhelming sometimes or do you just yolo and have a pizza pasta party first of all full time travel so we full time traveled we keep repeating ourselves but we full-time traveled for a year there was some days where we felt overwhelmed but i think that wasn't the travel that was because we were daily vlogging yes that affected a lot and i feel like if we started this channel always uploading three days a week that that year would feel completely different because we did get really wiped out really tired because stephen was editing and uploading every single day while we were traveling it was like just thinking it's so hard to say because when we're traveling and vlogging this is work put aside that we do have the best job in the world but put that aside and just say you're at work seven days a week for 365 days that's what it felt like and we would travel all day and then he couldn't just come and just rest because traveling is tired tiring we just go explore a city a whole day then come back and then he has to edit for a couple of hours yeah and then have to be up so we can get more content for the next video so i feel like that is when we became really overwhelmed with travel and we were like oh my gosh are we able to keep doing this that's why this time we do three videos a week thing it changed everything it literally changed everything so we started appreciating the travel because it was gone to a point where we were like we need a vlog so we need more content so we need to go here and like we just kept trying to push and push and go further and further we're like no we need to just enjoy the moment i think it definitely helps that way so now we just yellow and have pizza pasta parties but i'm back in the day and um definitely back in the day we used to feel very overwhelmed with traveling so much but now especially now that we've been coming home for like a week and then going away that's also helped a lot we haven't even have we've been we've been home for 26 hours and we're excited for the next trip which we should probably be nice and tell them they've started someone actually asked that question where are you guys going next so we may as well answer that question so on monday monday so in like five days time we're going to bali yeah and it's really exciting because we're meeting up with some other youtube couple travel vloggers which i'm sure a lot of you watch first one is wayway who we met up with in canada uh second one is an endless adventure who we've never met no and third one is king in it who we've never met either so it's gonna be like all new people this is gonna be hanging out with them for a whole week traveling around bali i'm gonna have my birthday my birthday's next week oh yeah yes it seems to be really fun so it's only a short trip a week i think it's gonna be really fun yeah it's definitely two next and we really want to be traveling more with other people yeah that's one thing i feel like we've failed to do over the last three years so we definitely want make us pause the office just to binge watch that because that is such a funny show watch arrested development especially if you enjoy the office how long have you and stephen known each other for so if you're new around here we have known each other since we were 14. so you're gonna tell them you're eighteen yeah i'm about to turn 28. ready for the math 14 15 14. we've been knowing each other 14 years oh yeah you talked about it i do i'm really good at math all right so we've known each other for 14 years and we've been dating for 10 and a half years wow yeah oh and we've been married for almost a year oh one year anniversary and we just planned our trip of where we're gonna be for our one year anniversary and it's really cool that's it that's it that's all the questions i don't know
