hi guys welcome to another video and as you guessed from a title today we are talking about how much money do you need to travel for one year as you know guys we've been on the roads for more than one year actually so we thought we're gonna share all the expenses and perhaps a little tips and tricks on how to save money so stay tuned all the way to the end because this is gonna be super interesting we will be talking from our own experience guys so uh yeah prices will be as per a couple if you are solo traveler traveler just split that exactly uh by half and also we need to say it's definitely not going to apply for all of you guys but you will get a lot of useful info today right so let's get into it and if you would ask us on the street jay alina how much money do i need to travel for a one year i wish there was a universal answer for that that is not and what would we say is it really depends on a few factors yes we're gonna go through each factor and we're going to give you uh our personal experience how did we do it in that particular case yeah so first important factor is which countries do you want to travel to correct as a beginner traveler we would suggest you to travel or to do a research on a cost of living in each countries and perhaps choose the cheaper countries yeah make a list for yourself other countries where would you like to go yeah our budget was limited we will talk about our budget in the end of the video uh and we decided we want to start with the countries which are more affordable so we went to latvia we went poland we went slovakia hungary ended up in albania turkey that's where we lived for a bit and then here valley yeah another very important factor is where actually do you want to stay yeah type of recommendation do you prefer to stay in a hotel hostel airbnb guest house or plenty of options plenty of options here we would suggest you to uh start with perhaps even hostel oh yeah we were very skeptical uh at the beginning yeah but in the end it ended up uh to be our best decision we made we found or we met one of the nicest the most amazing people we we are friends with them uh until today while in a hotel or in airbnb yeah even you have a more privacy but you rarely meet anyone and it costs much more and you don't have a shared kitchen or any kitchen at all very often so definitely suggest you to go for a cheaper cheaper alternative yeah in here it's very important to mention we always have the same budget no matter where we are that's our strategy no matter what country or city we always have one particular budget and we work around the budget and we will reveal it in the end of the video again another important factor has something to do with the previous factor and that is how much time do you actually give yourself at each location yeah because very often as longer as you stay in a place as cheaper it is for you for example we had it uh in a turkey yeah we wanted to stay in one place in antalya for like two weeks yeah and we found out that staying there for a month is even cheaper and in bali as well yeah and in albania as well so pretty much everywhere exactly so if you sign up for a longer term let's say one month they're gonna give you even half price uh so you're gonna get better deals and also that will allow you to explore local cuisine local uh culture much more you don't have to rush that much and you will actually save money so that's slow travel definitely better option guys now another factor and by our opinion uh one of the best skills you can have and that is can you actually cook yeah do you have a cooking skills yes uh if you don't just quickly call your mom and ask her to give you a small basic tips and tricks on how to book cook basic meals it will definitely help you 100 we save tons of money just because we both can cook a little obviously way better well still yeah yeah but we can shop in a local groceries that allows us to cook our own meals the way we like them for a very cheap product the same in turkey it was a pure example that groceries in the shops were very very cheap so yeah so it was even eating out was affordable but cooking in house was even more cheaper so we decided to cook as much as we can inside in-house and i'll tell you the reason why if you cook two meals a day uh by yourself for a very affordable price then you can allow yourself to go and eat out even to more expensive restaurant and that was our particular case so our strategy always cooked two meals at home yeah try to save money on that cook nice and tasty and on the weekends we could go out even every meal yeah and even to any expensive restaurant because we felt like we saved a lot of money we can afford that while think about that guys if you eat three times a day somewhere the last thing you want to do is to go for an expensive dinner if you already paid for two meals out yeah if you cook it by yourself you feel like okay i can spend any money like you deserved it and it's much more enjoyable to eat out once in a while rather than non-stop then that loses kind of this magic of eating out yeah however if you don't cook at all and that option doesn't work for you and you have to uh eat out all the time we highly suggest you eating in the local places exactly one of the best experiences we had again turkey albania even hungary super affordable but local restaurants yeah we always try to see the places which looks local and if we see there are many local people eating it means that it's a place for us exactly it means that food will be fresh there because there are high turnover yes a lot of people coming yeah while now guys we live in uh really weird times uh and many western restaurants are actually cooking a frozen food just because they don't have enough of uh foreigners or tourists to come and eat at the restaurants and nobody eats or locals don't eat at the western restaurant that's why that is fresh you will pay in the western restaurant you'll pay much more for a way lower quality food so always go for a local it's going to be the best food you will ever try [Music] and the last point is uh do you use public transport or taxi or you rent a car or use uber exactly and here again you might guess already we suggest you to use public transport as often as possible i have an example exactly from albania we wanted to go from tirana to florida yeah a little small town yeah it's like a two-hour journey and taxi wanted us to pay like 90 to 100 euros unbelievable yeah and we went for a local bus which costed two euros a person so that's four per four euros per couple 86 euros and we had a blast guys oh yeah music was playing loud people were chatting to each other they were sharing even food we were like wow it's not just a transport it's like a proper entertainment it's like experience and the the best way how to experience local this is why we all travel guys we want to meet new people we want to explore different uh good not cuisines but cultures yes so uh always aim for a local transport now guys we bet you cannot wait until we reveal this magical number how much does it actually cost or costed us to travel uh over past one year but before we do that we wanted to say big thank you to sponsor of today's video which is a skillshare skillshare is easily our favorite online learning click on it will get a one month of uh skillshare for free and now drums please how much did we spend as per couple traveling over last one year the answer is per month we spent thousand two thousand two hundred british pounds that is thousand three hundred two thousand six hundred usd that means per year we spent twelve to fourteen thousand british pounds again per couple and that is around 16 to 20 000 usd dollars now we're going to explain what's our strategy over here yeah so basically 300 pounds is for accommodation so it doesn't matter in which country we are we always try to pick the place which is within our budget yeah so we always work around the sum yeah the next is food which is around four to five hundred pounds so we always obviously try to keep it lower but as depending on the country in some countries yeah in some countries food is a bit more expensive in some countries a bit more affordable yeah and the rest which is around 200 pounds yeah is for everything else which is like entertainment and transport and everything else yeah and remember guys when we said thousand two thousand two hundred pounds so actually when we spent somewhere around thousand two hundred pounds that is the month or the week when we have to travel and we have to buy a flight tickets etc a quick little tip over here guys uh try to use vpn we will leave a link in the description of a vpn service we use it always helps you not always but it can help you yeah it can help you to save money on your flight tickets yeah so you use vpn you choose different location because flight tickets the same flight tickets are a different price for customers from different countries so if you are a uk customer and for example polish customer will have a different price to uk customer use vpn link in the description so guys just to wrap it up we basically set our monthly budget which is thousand two thousand two hundred of the three hundred accommodation no matter what four to five hundred for a foot no matter what we take that four five hundred and we split it by four so we have a approximate budget for a week for a week and then we count how much money can we actually spend for a food per day again if you are good at cooking you will save a lot of money there so guys we hope that helped let us know did you expect this kind of budget or does it seem too little or too high let us know
