[Music] [Music] hello good day to y'all how's it going i'm sean david welcome back to the show let's talk some old school nba in today's episode i want to talk about michael jordan again yes michael jordan but since he's my favorite player of all time what can he do the thing that always separated michael jordan from many other players was that he not only did perform on the highest level against some average players but he also had incredible games against some of the biggest superstars in nba history so in this video i will talk about michael jordan destroying some of the greatest players of all time but before we get to that i want to give a quick shout out to my patreons thanks a lot you guys for supporting the show it's really appreciated and i would say enough said let's dig right into today's episode [Music] now the first player that i'm going to talk about is clyde draxler back in the late 1980s and early 1990s there was a serious debate going on on who was the better shooting guard michael jordan or clyde draxler and if you know michael jordan then you know that he didn't like those comparisons as he will see in the following story clyde the glide says we're the two best in the game but i'm not getting into a war of words with mike clyde was a threat you know i'm not saying he wasn't a threat but me being compared to him i took offense to that i'm working for nbc i'm covering the finals so the night before game one we had michael's house playing cards and he said you know what's gonna happen tomorrow i'm gonna give it to this dude portland and chicago it was almost inevitable they were the favorites in november and now they meet in june we're all ready for this game and the noise level here at the stadium will soon be earth-shattering it will be the great michael jordan and the chicago bulls going against clyde rexler and the rest of the portland trailblazers everybody wanted this series now it's here it's a match made in heaven what time is it do you have any questions at all just play the game we'll referee have a good game [Applause] robinson 18. and they match up once again here's joy to the fade away 20 for jordan jordan that's his fourth three-point field goal [Applause] jordan from three yes that is an nba finals record five three-pointers [Applause] [Applause] yes [Applause] with 35 points has set an nba record most points and a half and an and the next player that i'm going to talk about is reggie killer miller now we all know that he was no choir boy and it was also known to be a great trash talker but there are certain players that you don't trash talk to and michael jordan as we all know is exactly that kind of a player when reggie miller was a rookie and had an exhibition game against michael jordan you would think that he would be quiet and just play his game but that was not reggie miller i'm not the biggest of guys i may be tall but i'm only when i came into the league i was only 175 180 pounds so i wasn't the biggest or strongest guys i needed to have a little bit of an edge my mouth was my edge my rookie year we were playing the chicago bulls and this is michael jordan's third or fourth year in okay and we're playing the next exhibition game in some obscure place and most veterans do not like to play in exhibition games they want to get to the real thing i'm a wide-eyed energetic rookie and we're playing this exhibition game and michael's going through the motion and chuck person who's on my team who's a trash trucker as well is like can you believe michael jordan the guy everyone's talking about who's supposed to be able to walk on water you're out here killing them ranch this is in the first half it's like you should be talking to him he's like you know you're right michael who do you think you are the great michael jordan that's right there's a new kid on town right he kind of looks at me and starts shaking his head so at half i have 10 and he has four points right i'm doing all this talking he's like okay into this into the game in the second half he ended up with 44. and i ended up with 12. as he's walking off he's like be sure and be careful you never talk to black jesus like that and the next player on my list is joe dumars if you are an old school nba fan then you know that joe dumas is probably one of the best defenders of all time and even michael jordan said that nobody guarded him as well as joe dumas did but of course that didn't stop michael jordan from dropping like 60 points on joe you can be loose and you can have fun while you're here and it's great being here but when it's time to step on the floor it's all business and it's not fun and games anymore it's a walk this competitive thing uh clicked in that you know you look for all the weaknesses of the defense that's playing you and you look uh to break him down somehow mentally physically it doesn't make a difference i'm looking to destroy my defensive man here's jordan left baseline every time he's on the floor uh you become consumed by michael jordan you become consumed that he's out there in the middle of the center when you make a mistake it's not even a question whether or not you're going to get married you're burnt already 95 percent of the plays are for michael jordan and the other five percent end up in this hand anyway well you kind of blocked that out really you know everybody knows you can fall that's a known fact if you know that everybody's gonna try to keep you from getting involved and you go extra hard to try to get the ball if someone's gonna try to keep you from shooting you do whatever it takes to get the shot off or get it to open man so that you get the basket when i get the ball i have total confidence that he can't guard me so i have that edge another edge is that i know where i want to go he doesn't so he can only guess being a defensive player when you're out there by yourself and there's no help and it's just you and that guy it really gives you a charge then because you know it's just you and him and somebody's going to win somebody's going to lose it's not going to be any in between the most challenging moment for me is when they've isolated and my man has spawned it's just he and i out front but he and i on the wing what happens is uh it's almost scary because you almost know the moves before the guys come the door you anticipate and uh the guy is there and you trapped him or whatever you stopped him uh you can definitely get on a defensive road as well as often now as you can hear joe dumas took those battles super serious and his mentality is exactly what made him such a great defender of course he also had the help of his teammates and the design defense which was called the jordan rules and they were able to stop mike jordan every once in a while but still mj had games where he would drop 50 or 60 points on the detroit batboy pistons and on joe dumars and the next player on my list is larry berg and the entire boston celtics roster now larry brad was a solid defender not the greatest but a solid defender and the boston celtics with their front and back court were always considered to be one of the better defensive teams but when michael jordan had something to prove there was no stopping him not even larry bird i think it's going to be more of a five-man game and we really have to play a complete basketball game i i don't think one man could beat the boston chelsea taking the tempo away from the celtics trying to michael jordan right now what a great shot and a basket and a foul you talk about birds sheer determination at certain points of the game michael jordan has those same long range jordan hits it 56 for jordan and that times the chicago bulls all-time leader bob love jordan goes up to the shot and hits it and has 61 points to tie elgin baylor all single game play-off record jordan 63 points and you're looking at an all-time record and the next player on my list is john starks now john starks to me was always a special player i always used to call him a 100 percent hard player what i mean by that is he was never the most talented guy on the floor but he really left his heart on the floor and he really took the challenge when he played against michael jordan and in some guys he really did a good job but of course there was no stopping michael jordan in every single game so he also had to pay the price for taking the challenge 55 points by michael jordan there's a lot of hoopla going on right about now but once i'm on the basketball court the rest of stuff doesn't make a difference to me you know because i'm in my dream life against the knicks at madison's madison square garden the chicago bulls and the new york knicks it's the magical mystical jordan road tour 1995. the bulls are two and two since his return and one of the most asked questions in america is is he as good now as he was before we're still trying to find ourselves and they're a much better team than we are right now and i think we get to see what kind of work we need to work on down the stretch to even give this team a challenge somewhere in the future oh my michael is back we'll have to tip off [Music] for north carolina number 45 michael jordan all right michael jordan i guess a nice round of applause a long time nemesis of the knicks and there is number 45 in case you haven't heard it already jordan wore that number at junior high wore it as he went to baseball for 18 months so michael comes back to new york city he loves playing in this gym jordan 15 footer [Music] look out yes michael [Music] my whole attitude was just relax let the game come to you [Music] [Applause] for two to start this game i could tell in the first quarter i really had something going on they're going to keep going to the well double team prior to his premature retirement nobody guarded michael jordan straight up better than josh stark the knicks still plan to have him go one on one michael jordan he's on fire a lot of times i come in here you won't do so well here you get a little tense all the games i've seen jordan play i've never seen him go like this those are very happy positive butterflies but they are in his stomach it's 20 first quarter points for michael jordan there are eight players in this bulls roster who never played with michael jordan before he came over the huddle like this like his hand was steaming on fire they were laughing and they said stay hot [Music] i had low expectations for myself really just to try to fit in get chemistry get a rhythm you know let things the story in this first half number 45 michael jordan has returned to madison square garden his fifth game back michael jordan 20 points in the first quarter 15 in the second quarter he already has a new season high now of 35 but after 24 minutes the bull's trailer and be fulfilled and that's what's happened with jordan 42 for [Music] as much as i would have practiced there's no way i would have gotten ready for game time i needed to play games [Applause] well i mean you know man i'm a very aggressive guy i'd be lying if i said i came out to pass the ball you know i came out here to score and i was gonna make him stop me from scoring this is mj's night and he is delivering in a very big way and michael jordan with 51 points and michael jordan continues to roll jordan with 53. wow jordan played very well by stalks starts using his forearm to neutralize whiteboard got him in the air he had to work for that and that is a high for the nba this season the next call for time tied at 11. 14.6 to go if you're the knick do you allow him to hold the ball melt the clock without double teaming him now you see they're taking it at the full length of the floor let's set a pick for jordan and let's let's have him make the winning shot i would imagine i would think this is a one-shot deal for them the worst that happens is they have overtime oh stocks lost to be part of this [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] michael jordan 55 points in this ball game the bulls beat the dick 113 111 let's go to craig sager well if you're going to make a comeback you better come back as good or better than you have before you surprised people all over the world 55 points but nice assist at the end hey don't count me shoot it every time i can pass okay back to you bob thank you craig it's his 34th career 50-plus point game for michael he also broke his own madison square garden record for most points ever scored by an opponent against the new york knicks can you do it again i don't know i think that's that's that's the fun thing about it is that tomorrow you don't know what i can do [Music] and next on my list i have kobe bryant now as we all know kobe was the closest to michael jordan that he will ever find he idolized mj and wanted to learn as much as possible and once the two stepped on the same floor jordan made sure that kobe could learn first hand [Music] tip off just around the corner but quickly everybody's talking about kobe bryant and michael jordan this is the matchup that everybody's been waiting to see here in los angeles you've got the teacher versus the student kobe's trying to steal his knowledge little advice from the master right bambi education he's having a post-graduate course guarded by brian takes him inside and banks at home little jordan sticking out of his tongue right there michael is trying to teach kobe a lesson trying to give him the experience of the youth to the wisdom that what he once had some of the other clubs out west now michael [Applause] michael's got a good shooting rhythm going he's shooting the ball extremely well and he's matched up against kobe now he wants the challenge of guard kobe it's rested away from him though by mario bennett bennett to bryant into a crowd and off the glass la on a 13-2 run michael from 20 fouled as he let it go all right you guys that was it for today's episode i hope you enjoyed this video do me a favor if you enjoyed this video please like the video and also subscribe to the channel thanks a lot and you guys you all be healthy take care
