hi guys welcome back today's video is gonna be a little bit different we're gonna take a stroll down memory lane and I'm gonna do half of my makeup how I used to do eye makeup so that could be from high school to college to even just like a year ago so anywhere from like 2012 to like 2019 and then the other half of my face is gonna be how I did my makeup now present day of 2020 so I was watching some of my old videos cringing dying inside I don't know how people watched those videos some of them were such a hot mess that's why a lot of them are private 'add but i was watching some of those just to see old techniques that i used to do and it's crazy because i really don't do a lot of things that I used to do even just like two years ago now so I thought it would be fun to see kind of how my makeup has evolved throughout the years and I'm not a professional makeup artist I'm not perfect I'm sure in a couple years I'll look and feel like girl what were you thinking because I feel like every year we just evolved and we grow more and makeup changes and that's just how life works but yeah that is we're gonna be doing today I hope you guys enjoy this video of course don't forget to grab a snack and let's get started oh okay so first things first brows so I'm gonna do my right side which is gonna be your left how I used to do my makeup and then the left side is going to be how I do a makeup now I'm gonna use the makeup revolution burl pencil this one is like their angled one this is actually the kind of pencil that I used to use just about two years ago when I was a senior in college my brows were just way too thick and they looked very unnatural and I know a lot of people think that about my brows now and I don't think my brows are as bad now as they used to be even just two years ago I feel like they were just a very unflattering they were just a little too big for my face because naturally I don't have super thick full eyebrows you know so that's not the look that I feel like is very flattering on me so I used to just take this and just extend the brow way too much make them way too thick it just didn't really look good like when I look at pictures especially I'm like girl that looks terrible thing with me is this brow pencil from makeup revolution I believe wet-and-wild has one this is like the a BH brow definer like it's like that thicker angled brow pencil I feel like pencils like this are good if you already have full thick eyebrows because it is a thicker brow pencil if you're trying to be really precise this probably isn't the best thing to do that with because it's a little too thick and big for getting in there and being really precise with your brow I am gonna use a pomade I've been using a pomade for a very long time actually and I still enjoy using the pomade because I just don't have really full eyebrows so I like to give myself a little bit of thickness back to the brows I just feel like back then it was just a little too much because they were just a little too thick they might not even look as thick as I used to do them before because I did just do my eyebrows a few days ago but they were just too thick and like I just don't love like that box look I just feel like it was too much it might be a little bit difficult to see on camera today in comparison to before but like when I look at pictures I'm like now present day I still basically do the same technique I just kind of do it a little bit less harshly so I'm gonna use my colour-pop brow pencil and I do like to outline my eyebrows but I feel like I'm a little bit thinner when I do it like and just a little bit softer I don't like to extend my brow tail too far out I feel like that's also very unflattering on me personally you still follow along with my natural brow shape and I know a lot of people don't like my eyebrows and that's okay because they're my eyebrows they're not your self I'm gonna use the same pomade this isn't my good brow anyway so it probably doesn't even look that different from the other one but we're gonna clean it up I'm gonna clean up my eyebrows this one looks terrible still so it's not really the best comparison but that's fine and I'm gonna use the NYX full coverage concealer still did this with my eyebrows I've been actually cleaning up my eyebrows since like 2015 so it's been a very long time so honestly not a big difference as far as like technique and everything I just feel like now my brows are a little bit thinner a little bit softer versus before like I do have days where they are a little bit more harsh than others like that's going to happen because my makeups never gonna look the same every single day but I don't feel like they're as harsh as they used to be personally I still like a good old sculpted brow but I just feel like back then they were just a little too like I have to emphasize the box because they were definitely super boxy I feel like now they're more of like a toned down version of this now to prime my lathe I'm going to use the same concealer that I was just using to clean up the brows on this side I actually used concealer for a very long period of time to prime I believe up until like last year I started using an eyeshadow primer I like concealer I think it's great because it does cancel everything out but sometimes I've noticed like ever since I started using eye primer it doesn't make your eyeshadows pop as much as using an eyeshadow primer so that's why I personally prefer to use an eye primer something else that I used to do also is set to my concealer I still actually do that sometimes to this day I will set my primer it just depends I feel like makeup is so personal preference like we all have our own methods of doing things some people tell you don't do that your eyeshadows aren't gonna pop other people say well I need to do it I have really oily eyelids you know so it's just like do whatever works for you at the end of the day you know your skin and your face best but this is what I used to do a lot now honestly I don't mind the natural color of my eyelids actually really liked it especially when I'm not wearing any eyeshadow so I don't mind if it like peeks through so I'm using my NYX proof it eyes shadow primer the thing with this primer is you do have to kind of let it sit for like a few seconds because it is a little tacky at first so back in the day when I was in high school cool tones were my favorite like I loved me a good cool tone eyeshadow palette I don't know why I liked the Urban Decay Naked basics palette that was my jam I look at that palette now and I'm so uninspired like it doesn't intrigue me whatsoever but for some reason I just loved that palette back in the day so I was looking through my collection and I was having honestly a very hard time finding industry of Colton palette I don't really have any so these are the only two that I have that have cool tones in them so these are both from ELF the new classics palette and then the opposites attract palette right here on the bottom so I'm going to use the cool tones in here basically just like the blacks and the silvers because those are like my types of tones and then on the other side I'm going to use the warm tone palette because that is what I'm most attracted to these days so I'm gonna use the la girl pro mastery eyeshadow palette on the 20/20 side so I'm gonna start off with the opposites attract palette and I'm gonna take this shade right here which is just like a cool tone soft brown and I'm gonna take that and just put that right in my crease cool that is pigmented I forgot how pigmented this palette was you know I just realized I could actually just use these same palettes for the other eye just use the warm tones so when I'm talking cool tones I'm talking high school like this was my go-to look in high school I don't know how I put so much effort into my makeup in high school to be honest because now I can't be bothered to do my makeup unless I'm filming and then when I got to college that was such a different story as well like I did not ever barely do my makeup like it was just like a rare occasion if I did my makeup I'm gonna go into the black shade in this palette right here I'm gonna put that on the outer V of my eye when I was in college when I told people that I made videos they looked at me like I had ten heads because when I tell you guys I looked a mess when I would go to class like I really did look a mess they're like really and I'm like yeah I usually don't look like this on camera but yes and I didn't take this much time blending honestly when I was in high school I'll try to find pictures and I'll insert them but I kind of had this sort of idea going on but I didn't blend it out this well I don't thought I was doing a good job lending but I wasn't then I'm gonna take the white shade right here from the elf palette called belong and I'm gonna put that all over my lid I didn't really spray my brush or anything I think I started spraying my brush and look 2015 but that was something that in high school I just I never even used setting spray I think I started using setting spray when I was going to college like at the very end of my senior year of high school and I was mac fix+ this was basically what I did this was like my go-to look in high school obviously not this blended but basically like this which this is actually a really cute look I just now I can't imagine doing this every single day I just I'm such a warm toned gal so I'm actually just kidding I'm not going to use that la girl palette because I can just use these two palettes right here to do the warm tone smokey eye so I'm gonna use this color right here for the other side oh my gosh look at that pigment okay I'm gonna go back into this pallet right here I'm going to take cheeky I still really like a like really light lid shave so I'm gonna take the color Cosmo in the palette which is like a really light champagne now what I like to do is I like to dip my brush and I like to spray it with some sort of setting spray I just feel like it really makes a shot of the pop and then add more of cheeky these to warm tones let's do a little bit of this color saucy all the Sun I'm gonna go into at the shade right here which is called warm now I'm gonna do my winged liner so winged liner is something that I was doing religiously also in high school I think my senior year I kind of took a break from it for a little bit but then I started it back up again in like 2015 2016 2017 like that was like my go-to staple in my makeup routine so today I'm gonna use the NYX epic ink liner the thing with me and my wouldn'ta liner is I've always struggled with it but I've always made it just way too thick not elongated it a little bit too much and it just didn't look flattering on my eyes personally oh my gosh I'm so glad that this turned out like this because this is exactly how I did my liner in high school and like for a long period of time I couldn't get it to look straight because I was like trooping my eyeliner upwards and I feel like it just wasn't flattering on my eyes and I did definitely extend this like almost like touching my eyebrow tail like it was it was bad it was too much so now what I like to do I'll usually use my ELF eye tapes but just to show you when I do my wings I like to kind of extend them this way and make it a little bit more straight okay so now I still like my winged liner a little bit thick you know but I feel like it's not as thick I mean sometimes when I mess up it does turn out a little bit thicker than what I want it but typically when I'm doing my winged liner this is about how thick I like it and then I don't like to extend it out too far just because again I just don't feel like that's flattering for me even this looks a little bit too long I might make it a little bit shorter and if I do that I'll usually just do that with like a makeup light so this is just swooped up it's like about to go and fly away somewhere I don't know it's too much and it's too long and it's too thick but this is for real how it used to do it so now for mascara I actually used to be a mascara fiend I would do like two three different mascaras when I was doing my lashes but now honestly I don't love mascaras as much as I used to my favorite one is from colour-pop and I just do a quick coat of this and just prep my lashes for falsies now but back then I was like using an eyelash curler like blow drying my eyelashes trying to make them look really like long and voluminous so I'm gonna basically do that because I didn't start wearing dramatic falsies I don't think probably until like late 2015 2016 because when I first started getting into lashes I was wearing the demi wispies because I didn't really know how to apply them and those were super easy for me but then after that I started getting into the world of lashes and then now I can never go back okay so I just applied lashes for this I used the lily lashes these are the faux mink in the style Randy I really like these are super wispy and pretty now for the skin so I'm just gonna use my Smashbox primer Iser because I don't have any primers that I really used to use back in the day too much and I've been priming my skin for a very long time so does anybody remember the Monistat chafing relief powder gel oh my goodness like I was watching some of my old videos and like that was a big thing like everybody used to use that is crazy I don't use primers like that anymore because it is like a silicone based primer and I don't love those kind of primers on my skin I just feel like the silicone doesn't mesh well with my foundations and it just it doesn't really prolong my makeup and then I remembered nikkietutorials made the Nivea men post shave balm super popular I believe in like 2015 2016 so that was a really big trend as well I don't have that primer but that was pretty good that really major make a blast which I thought was great but yeah good time for a foundation today I'm just gonna use my fenty Pro filter hydrating foundation and on my right side I'm gonna actually use a brush that I used to use so this brush that I'm using is from Moda brushes and I used to use these like religiously every time I would do my foundation and these are actually really nice brushes they make your foundation look so soft and like full coverage I do like how big this is too because since it is so big it really like apply your foundation pretty instantly to be honest it doesn't take a long time I think for me now I'm just such a sponge kind of girl I just love the way the sponge looks but this is actually really pretty I just feel like I probably stopped using this because it is pretty difficult to wash there's so much foundation that gets built up in here because it's such a thick brush that it is a little bit more difficult versus too like a regular brush but it is really pretty on the skin you can see it does give you very great coverage and that was actually very easy to apply let's see which side looks better I feel like it looks a little bit darker on this side like it's so weird on this side it looks a little bit lighter now for concealer I'm gonna use the elf 16 our camo concealer this one is in this shade light beige it's way too light for me but that's the point so I'm gonna use this and I'm gonna do a triangle which is what I feel like all of the big og youtubers you used to do and I was like oh they're doing it I have to do it I did this for a very long time and for me personally I feel like this is unnecessary for me right now I don't feel like you need to use as much product if you want to get this highlighted look you don't need to use this much I mean again it's personal preference but I just I don't feel like it's necessary I'm gonna just use my sponge to blend this in I actually used to use a brush to blend out my concealer I don't have a brush that I used to use back in the day I personally just love the way that a sponge makes the concealer look I think it looks super flawless I also yeah used to use a concealer that was way too light like I'm all about a highlighted look look something bright but this is a little too light for me I prefer now something that is almost like the same color as my foundation maybe like a little bit lighter so on the other side I'm gonna use the same concealer but I'm gonna take the shade medium beige and I'm gonna mix it with the shade that I just used cuz this one's a little bit too so now I just pretty much do something right here and then I will blend out the product and then with any excess product that I have on my sponge I will take it and drag it down the high points of my face or like my t-zone between the brows so of course it's not as the light as this but that's kind of like the point I don't love that super light look I just feel like you can get like a really great coverage look without using like a ton of concealer but again do whatever you want whatever works for you so now for my under eye area when I was actually I think I did this for longer than just high school but for a long time I was using the Mac Pro powder in the shade emphasized and it was way too light it was almost like a white powder for my under-eye and so now I don't have that powder I'm going to use this really light one from covergirl to set my under eyes but I don't know why I just thought this really white look under here was flattering on me because it wasn't I didn't really understand the point of highlighting so I really used to use a lot of powder and I actually still like to set my under eyes with powder these days with a brush it just depends what kind of look I'm going for now to set my under eyes on the other side I'm going to use my collab ultrafine loose setting powder which you guys know it's one of my favorites I love loose powder to set and I like to set with my sponge so I'll take that powder and I'll really press it down under there I don't like to bake I know that was like a really big trend at one point I never really loved that trend I just felt like it was a little bit too drying for my skin so I wouldn't use a lot of powder because I do use a lot but I kind of like mesh it into the rest of my skin with my sponge and then I just set my face that way I'm gonna set my eyebrow because I used to never set my eyebrows in high school I believe I started to setting my eyebrows in 2015 2015 was like a prime year for me you know what I'm gonna set the other eyebrow just because I did set my eyebrows for longer than I didn't it makes a huge difference like it really does make your eyebrows last let's do bronzer now so for bronzer I'm just gonna use my physicians from a lot better bronzer which I love so back way back when I used to use an angled brush like this this one's actually from Sigma and I believe this is the same one that I use it's just like this is a newer version of it but this is their angled contour and I used to take my bronzer and I would just do this I would blend it out but I would just kind of place the bronzer in that spot and then do this I think brushes like this are great I actually really do like them but whenever I contour I like to bronze and and go in with a brush like this to really concentrate the product just so it looks a little bit more seamless but they can look really really harsh if you do it like that so I will take a powder brush this one is actually from forever 21 I get so many questions about it it's so random but I got it like a year and a half ago and I kind of like to stipple the product in to bronze the skin and then I'll take this down my neck as well now I typically like a brush like this it's a little bit more domed this one is from Alexi it's the five one two small contour brush take that bronzer I'm very lightly concentrate the product a little bit towards the hairline ish now for blush I'm gonna use this palette from ziwei and I like this because it has colors that I use now and colors that I used to use back in the day so these three colors are like my jam my peachy tones that I use like every single time I do my makeup these colors are like 2013-2014 Jasmine like this is what I used to use all the time in high school I am gonna take my brush and I'm gonna just stipple through these three colors which are like my go-to shades right now I just flick they complement my skin tone especially because I do a lot of warm tones I just feel like it looks really pretty and on the old side I'm gonna use these three colors cute it's actually a cute color but not really for every single day for me personally I just prefer like that peachy tone a little bit on the nose I've been doing that actually used to do that in high school and then I stopped and I started doing it again and I really like a little bit of blush on the nose I think it's pretty more highlight I am gonna use the coqui cosmetics strobing at palette today I'm gonna use this on both sides just to show you guys that it could be versatile so this is a very like intense highlighter it's very beautiful I'm gonna use these two colors right here on this side and I'm going to show you guys what I was doing even like just last year just like really really intense a little too much for sure so I would tape the highlight and just basically put a stripe on the face I was in denial I loved this look nobody could tell me otherwise I feel like highlighting became a really really big trend probably like 2015 2016 I believe when like champagne pop was released if that was when like highlighter blew up I would even take the highlighter did my brush in spray my brush and then two more highlighter like this is too much I love a good glow but I feel like this is just to the point where it's just like you can just tell it's just like very unnatural and like clearly this is a little bit exaggerated so I'm gonna blend it out a little bit but I definitely did you that or I would spray my face and then add more highlighter because that really makes it pop as well I mean if you're looking for something like that for like maybe more of a specific look and I think it's cute you know but like for an everyday basis for me I just don't like it anymore now other side I'm gonna do the same highlighter but I'm gonna and even now I have honestly really been into a more like natural highlighter like this highlighter is beautiful I'm gonna mix a little bit of the NYX high gloss finishing powder which gives you almost like that glow from within I just like a little bit now it's crazy because I really did used to love like an intense highlighter I just feel like it accentuates everything on your cheek area it doesn't look natural and it just it's too much let's finish up these lower lashes really quick I'm gonna take some of this highlighter and put that in the inner corners because I've been doing this for a very long time even like looking back at old videos I was like okay at least you did that because like inner corner highlight is always a good look kinda for the old side I'm gonna do a little bit of black from earlier and I'm gonna smudge that under there I honestly don't remember too much if like in high school I did lower lashes I know I did a lot of mascara and a lot of black eyeliner so I'm gonna just do a little bit today that's the eyeshadow did I just get black eyeshadow on me for as long as I can remember I loved black eyeliners so I'm just using the Koki eyeliner and then I'm going to take a little bit of mascara and I'm gonna just glop it on because that's what I used to do still do a lot of mascara on the lower lashes I like that look actually now on the other eye what I'm gonna do is basically use the same like transition colors that I used in my crease on the lower lashes now for the waterline I love me a good black eyeliners especially depending on the look that I'm doing but I love brown I think it's so beautiful so I'm using the NYX faux blacks eyeliner in the shade burnt sienna on the waterline on the other side and then I'm actually gonna use the same mascara but I'm gonna use the brown version which is in brownie points-- from colour-pop Brown mascara is so beautiful it is very just like smoky and sultry but it's not as harsh as black okay so now for it lips on the old side I'm actually just gonna do a really light pink nude I used a color like this for a very very long time like I probably got out of this phase and maybe like 20 end of 2015 2016 but I haven't used to luck pink lipsticks for some reason I don't know why because honestly I hate pink lipstick on me now I hate the way it looks makes my teeth look yellow and I just don't love it and I never used to line my lips I think I started lining my lips in 2015 2016 but I didn't do it properly I didn't follow along with my lip shape I didn't emphasize my Cupid's bow I just didn't really know what I was doing so I'm just gonna use covergirl lipstick in the shade 230 which is a really pretty light nude super nude peach I just feel like on its own it's a little too much I like it as a setter shade not so much all over the lips but that's all we're gonna do today least more really good look at that pigment now on the other side I'm gonna use some la girl perfect precision lipliner in the shade cafe I do over line my lips just a little bit but I really like to follow along with my natural shape and just to emphasize it and then I'm gonna do a little Smashbox liquid lipstick this one's any shade fair game this might be a little too nude right now no I really it's perfect still love nudes but I think now I just like something that's a little bit more beige more Brown tone nude and I love a good gloss now so I'm using Fenty gloss in sweet mouth which is one of their newer glosses here we have it I feel like two different people right now so this is 2012 okay lipstick in my teeth very cute this is a 2012 to 2019 me and this is me now 2020 what do we think I personally don't think there's anything wrong with this makeup I think I had the right idea I just didn't have the proper technique I was a little too heavy-handed I just really I think makeup is all about of course expressing yourself making yourself feel beautiful and confident but also accentuating your features and things that you already have going on and for me I kind of did the technique just wrong to my face and my shapes and everything you know what I mean but really at the end of the day there's no rules to makeup do whatever makes you happy if you love boxy brows super nude lips cool tones keep doing it just because it's not trendy doesn't mean that you don't have to not do it like don't let me or anybody influence your decisions with makeup because it's supposed to be fun and it's whatever makes you feel really good about yourself that's what it's all about when I did my makeup like this I felt really good like I felt the most confident especially in high school because I was so insecure so doing makeup like this it just made me feel really beautiful and I loved it that but it's really fun to see you know how far you've come as far as like growing with your makeup and just the beauty community in general I mean there's so many new products out the back then they didn't even exist so it's really fun to be able to just look back and see all the growth so yeah I hope you guys enjoyed this video let me know down below what trend you guys used to do back then that you just can't do anymore for me I would say it's definitely the super boxy brows and then also no false lashes like I cannot not wear false lashes like false lashes and me I gotta wear them so yeah thank you guys so much for hanging out with me today I hope you're doing well and that is that for today's video please subscribe if you have not already and I will see you very soon in medic's bye [Music] [Music]
