okay so I straighted my hair for the first time in three months this [Music] morning and I definitely feel like there's progress happening this dead hair needs to go still but that'll grow out but like once everything else grows out I mean what's up everyone today we are coming to you live from my couch Rocky is making an appearance today who is currently dead asleep so can we just take a second and look at this big giant sweater I'm wearing this because it was 75° outside last week and today it's 40° outside which is freezing to me and that is why Springtime is and forever will be my least favorite season but we're not talking about the weather today we're talking about how I kicked the absolute out of hair loss in one and in order to do that we have to take a little walk down memory lane back to 2019 a time that I like to refer to as my flop era as you can see we have a lot going on here first of all this is pren no's job second of all we have a nice crispy blonde highlight happening and some extensions that do not match we also have a very puffy face from drowning and white claw and we have no Botox no lip filler no good skincare regimen and no therapist so we are just really crushing it here in this picture but that's why it's called a flop era for a reason as you can see this is probably four or five videos worth of content alone but for the sake of this video we are talking about hair today so let's just knock all that stuff out of the way and start talking about it I did a lot of stuff to achieve the hair that I have in my head now and it is still by no means like perfect or thick I'm no stranger to a good clip and extension from time to time let's be honest but it isn't a much better situation now than it was back then so I figured I would just talk about how I got it here and hopefully I can maybe help someone else out there who's going through something similar to what I went through so I created a list I hope that that's the best way to give contact to this whole story in general but if you have any questions after this video please feel free to leave a comment down below I'm an open book when it comes to this kind of stuff and I will gladly answer any question that you have all right so with all that out of the way let's get into it item number one is doctors now I knew my hair was thinning for quite some time before that photo was taken I mean like hence the extensions obviously but it wasn't for lack of trying to figure out what was going on because before I found the hair specialist that I will talk about here in 2 seconds I went to I'm not even kidding you five different doctors trying to figure out what was wrong with my scalp I went to my primary I went to two different dermatologists I went to an endocrinologist and I also went to my gyno because like maybe it was a hormone issue you know and all of them gave me basically the same answers which was things like stress or have you tried biotin which was so annoying because obviously I'm there for a reason like clearly I've tried biotin or my favorite one was I don't know what's wrong come back in 6 months and we'll try and figure it out then so obviously like when you see five doctors in a row over the course of however many years you get a little bit discouraged so I was basically like in ignore mode at that point and I was just trying to cover up the problem with a Band-Aid and my Band-Aid of choice was extensions at the time I eventually found out about this hair specialist that I ended up seeing through a nurse practitioner that gave me my annual women's exam she told me about this hair specialist that her friend went to go see so this wasn't even like a medical referral this is just like a woman tooman referral type of situation which is so annoying because is when I finally went to go make an appointment with the hair specialist there was a caveat obviously I mean there always is right there's always a catch so it turns out that there's a lot of people I guess in my area or just in general that are also being ignored by their doctors when it comes to hair loss because it was a 7 month waight to get in for an appointment with this doctor I will revisit how the specialist helped me later on in the video but for now for the sake of context and having everything Mak sense I needed to move on to the second thing in my story which is the Great extension Purge of 2021 so this is a short one basically I knew that if I wanted to give my head a fighting chance to ever grow hair back again and actually receive an answer to my problems I knew that the extensions that I had in my hair had to GTFO so I removed those sticky little they were tapin and I mean honestly at that point it wasn't that hard they were basically all falling out anyway because I had almost no hair on my head to keep them in in the first place I had all of those taken out and then I was left with something like this and if you see all of that hair underneath yeah when that was gathered into a ponytail in the back of my head it was literally I'm not even kingue the size of a Sharpie or less it might have been the size of a pencil so I had a pretty bad situation happening on my head at for the most part if you can tell so the next thing I did was have my hair stylist just chop all of that off and I was left with something like this which leads me to item number three which is medication so here's where the specialist came back into play finally my appointment came in January 2021 and wouldn't you know she is the first doctor out of five that actually gave me a proper exam and she's the first one that actually took a look at my scalp which is a lot more than I can say for the other five doctors I could go into a whole video talking about that but she also took scans to assess the damage and actually took the time to explain what she thought was going on which was huge so it turns out I had a major case of dermatitis happening on my scalp which is causing a lot of hair loss and she also suspected that I had androgenetic alopecia which is basically female or male pattern of hair loss so at this point she ended up prescribing me a topical to help the dermatitis on my scalp and then she also prescribed to 2.5 mg of oral minoxidil which is real gain for the people in the back but it's in a pill form which is basically the same size as a growth control pill so that was easy to do way better than having to do a foam she also is a huge fan of neutral so I been taking the neutral and the 2.5 Mig of minoxidil ever since that appointment and I sincerely feel like it has helped a ton now in the past four or 5 months I want to say I also put myself on spironolactone that I was able to get my hands on through a website called mule.com not a sponsor I literally only have 19 subscribers that's just a tip for me to you that I wish that I had back then when I was going through all this hair loss stuff because I think that it would have helped me a ton but if you are someone who maybe doesn't have a hair specialist to go see in your area or you don't have access to go see a hair Specialist or you're being dismissed by a bunch of doctors like I did definitely give music a try because you're able to do a hair loss consultation I guess with a tella Health Doctor they're able to also prescribe things like minoxidil and other hair growth solutions so definitely check that out for sure that leads me to item number four on my list wigs so back then I was so uncomfortable in my own skin that I could not bear the thought of people I know seeing me with such a drastic change on my head I know that's so stupid but that's just how I felt back then you really do change over the years you know I mean I know for fact that I wasn't fooling anyone with those extensions but at the same time in my head it just made sense for continuity I guess I don't know I don't I can't tell you what I was thinking but I decided that the best course of action for me in order to give my real hair a fighting chance to grow back with the new drugs that I was taking and everything else I'll talk about in the rest of this video I decided that I was going to basically just give my real hair arrest and wear a wig for an entire year I ended up with three wigs wigs all from John Renault all human hair all bought from eBay my dad got me the first one I got myself the next two all of them are blonde I mean obviously I'm a brunette now but I ended up with the John Renault Sienna this is the one that my dad got me and then this is the John Renault Blake and then I also have the John Renault Angie also if you ever want to give wigs a try I definitely suggest hitting up eBay first before you go to the retail road because you can usually find them a lot cheaper on eBay than you can going through buying through like any kind of like wig website and not only did I feel like the wigs really helped a ton with having me just be able to give my hair a break they were a ton of fun I had my hair stylist trim them up a little bit so they looked more real and I also ended up learning a ton about wigs in general and here's the cool thing about wigs is that you wash them style them and then they basically end up being good to go for like four or five wears sometimes longer and so the cool thing was I was able to do my makeup and then just like throw the wig on as like the last step of my getting ready routine and I was like out the door so that was cool something I really like enjoyed About Wigs I'm not going to lie I was pretty nervous at first that people were going to know but what I found out was that people really have no idea that you're wearing a wig unless you tell them like all my friends that knew were extremely supportive and they didn't care no one ever said anything to me about them like I went on dates with these wigs on like literally no one knew actually if you're someone that knows me and you didn't know that I was wearing a wig for an entire year uh surprise cuz I was but yeah honestly I loved it at the time I wasn't sure if my hair was going to grow back or not so I figured you know if it doesn't grow back then I will figure that out but for now I'm just going to give these wigs a shot and maybe I'll end up liking them and I really did there was also a time too where like I was very tempted to just like shave my head and start over but I'm going to be honest like I'm so glad I didn't because I truly feel like just giving my hair that time to reset with the wigs I would have been way further back in this process of growing this hair out had I had shaved it so I'm glad I didn't so if you're thinking about shaving your head for the same reason take a step back assess the options see what you can do before going down that route because like you know I for me personally I really am glad that I didn't shave my head there is so much more that I could talk about when it comes to this topic there's definitely enough that I could talk about in an entire video so if that's something you're interested in let me know in the comments down below because I will gladly Talk About Wigs until I'm blue in the face cuz I love them I think they're great but for the sake of this video let's move right along to item number five and that is treatments that I did now after looking up I think every single hair loss solution known to man I caved and finally broke down and bought the hair loss red light therapy helmet according to my hair specialist red light therapy can promote hair growth so at the time I really wanted to add it into my routine and I was pretty consistent with it at first like you're supposed to wear it every other day for 25 minutes but in my opinion like this helmet can get pretty uncomfortable to wear so it wasn't my favorite thing to do after a while I can't really say how comfortable the other models from this Iris store brand are or not because I just wanted to go with the cheapest option yeah I don't know I didn't love this I still wear it from time to time but I also think that like I can't just give this all the credit for my hair growing back because I was doing so many other things but I just wanted to mention in this video as another thing that I did the other treatment that I had done was four rounds of PRP Therapy and this is another thing that I can't really say helped a ton or not and I also can't AB ate for PRP Therapy in general just because I think that it was so expensive and given the fact that I was also taking the minoxidil and the other things that I've been taking over the years for hair growth I can't say that it necessarily helped me or hurt me and given the cost in general you have to keep doing it over time if you want to give it a shot go for it for me I'm probably not going to ever get it again just because of the cost and it's just like so unfair too because like not having hair is just so expensive because like these companies and people and treatments they all know that we're going to pay it cuz we want our hair back which sucks that leads me to the last thing on my list which is item number five and that is using only high quality salon products so I wanted to give my hair the best chance to succeed so I ditched every single drugstore product that was in my bathroom and I switched completely to Virtue labs and that is the only brand of hair products besides two volumizing ones that I still use to this day my favorite from them is the green recovery shampoo and I also love their hair oil and also the deep conditioner is amazing but yeah the science behind virt Labs is really cool they use this thing called Alpha Keratin Complex um I'll link them down below so you can check it out but they basically have this really cool science that only is in their hair products that really help rebuild the hair shaft and make your hair healthier over time and like my hair feels so much healthier and stronger now and the quality is so much better and I fully believe that my hair was able to grow out into this healthier situation because of the virtue Labs products all of them there's nothing on that website that I don't love and I will also do a full video on my whole hair care routine using virtue so stay tuned for that anyway if you are dealing with hair loss or thinning hair in general I just want to say like how proud I am for you for hanging in there because I know how hard it is I'm still struggling with it today but I remember when my hair was at Rock Bottom like I was going on YouTube and looking at different videos from other women talking about their hair loss journey and how they were able to grow their hair back so I could feel less alone I hope I was able to maybe pay it forward even if it was just a little bit by sharing my experience and as I mentioned before if you have any questions please do not hesitate at all to ask me down in the comments below it will absolutely brighten my day and where are you going what was I saying oh yeah please do not hesitate to leave a comment down below if you have any questions I am an open book like I said when it comes to this stuff and it will also make me feel like I'm not talking into the void here on YouTube and please be sure to time in 3 months this morning and I definitely feel like there's progress happening this dead hair needs to go still but that'll grow out but like once everything else grows out I mean my part looks thicker and the bottom looks healthy so yay let's keep going maybe one day I won't have to wear [Music] wigs
