How Fast can you Beat Pokemon Red/Blue with a Machamp?

hey everyone how's it going the champ has a lot of attack that's really what it has going for it it's speed it's move set okay the move set's all right I mean it learned some really good physical attacking moves but the speed of 55 that's gonna hold it back early in the run it's gonna be fine but as it goes further and further it's going to be a problem actually one thing that's already annoying is because it only has 55 base speed karate chop which is usually an automatic critical hit for most pokemon is only an 86 chance to be a critical hit that's annoying thankfully we start with low kick which completely demolishes Brock low kick in Generation 1 is not based on weight it's based on well it's base 50 power so it's 90 accurate 50 base power because it is a physical attack it's gonna take more than one hit to knock out Geodude and Onyx but it's really not going to be too big a deal and we can easily make our way to Cerulean City very quickly now against rival 2 we can use karate chop and we get a critical hit and then we can go for low kick it says not very effective but that's a lie that's just gen one's weird man anyway we one shot both Abra and Rattata and it's a tuakeo on Charmander I've talked about this before but someone always asks in generation one when you're super effective against one type normal and not very effective against the other flying there's a priority list that will let you know what message you will get but you will either get it super effective or not very effective message but the damage is still neutral so just keep that in mind anytime we use a fighting move on a flying Pokemon and that's not gonna happen too much to be honest with you there's really not much to talk about here so let's skip ahead to when I battle misty misty leads with Staryu we can go for low kick we miss it is 90 accurate but when we hit we one shot the Staryu and then karate chop would be a two a KO if we get two crits and we do 86 percent is pretty good the X defend is ignored by karate chop so that's two easy gym badges so far this is one of the fastest runs but it is going to start to slow down eventually as that 55 base speed becomes comparatively worse and worse rival 3 shouldn't be too big a deal we actually have body slam now and we're going to use that it does just a little bit more than low kick to Pidgeotto for radicate we're gonna go for low kick Kadabra does out speed and this is going to be a problem going forward but we do out speed Charmeleon and one shot I mean we have exceptional attack so when we do hit we're going to be dealing a ton of damage the problem is sometimes we might not even get the chance to hit especially against the later game psychic Pokemon Lieutenant's surge though doesn't have later game psychic Pokemon he has pretty not great early game electric Pokemon he leads with Voltorb which you actually can't catch yet but you will in a second be able to anyway it out speeds we one shot with body slam Pikachu out speeds we on shot with body slam Raichu goes for Thunderbolts but even though our special isn't great we get a crit which is kind of Lucky but I think we might have one shot anyways who cares so very quickly we're gonna make our way to Rock Tunnel there is nothing within Rock Tunnel the Slowpoke they're too slow and confusion isn't nearly powerful enough for it to be a concern and so we can make our way all the way to Celadon City now for Pokemon this good it is faster to battle Erica first because it's on the way to the rocket Hideout so you only have to make one trip unfortunately it's likely oh Victory Bell did not out speed rap only hit twice unfortunately tangelo will probably be yeah we don't get the crit there it's gonna be a two oh we got the grit there we get a genuine Miss no are you kidding me well that was dumb we really shouldn't have lost there alright well let's just try that again this time around it's gonna go better obviously body slam doesn't one shot Razor Leaf is always a Critic head so we're at half HP that's not great tangler goes for bind and now we just have to absorb a single pedal dance and we should be fine I actually go for dig it's gonna do more than body slam and that should uh oh it's not a two shot oh we might actually lose Mega drain okay well maybe I could have gone to Rocket Hideout first but we did win and now we have some potions so we can not heal which is good and we can walk straight to Rocket Hideout which is going to be very very easy for a Machamp all of Giovanni's Pokemon are weak to fighting moves so we can use low kick it's a one shot on onyx we level up low kicks a one shot on right horn crit doesn't matter and Kangaskhan does out speed we do get the unfortunate Miss and uh oh we don't one shot bite oh oh come on what is with the luck today oh and I didn't beat the Rockets all right just give me a sec I'll just get back this is why I don't use real time by the way it's ridiculous I also use oh it's not a one shot okay whatever it's why I don't use real time though because that's not fair Machamp didn't do anything wrong we got a 10 oh come on all right sorry that was just getting on my nerve all right we win we can now go to the Pokemon we can buy proteins obviously actually we could buy carbos if we really really want to the thing is there is a point of diminishing return to the carbos just because we're not gonna out speed Alakazam We're Not Gonna out speed Gengar so if we do go for carbos it'll help us in the short term but not necessarily in the long term uh you know what fine I think it's worth it we'll buy four carbos it'll probably make some things in the mid game a little easier but we might sacrifice some damage ranges the other thing we should note is that we can buy rockslide which is a super great physical attacking move because Pokemon like Gyarados which are flying we can now hit for super effective damage and that's good because right now we don't have a good move against Pokemon like Gyarados okay so we're gonna go battle rival four I don't have a musical number this time planned for you guys I'm just gonna go for rock slide one shot I'm gonna go for ooh body slam probably makes the most sense yeah I'm gonna go for rock slide I don't think rock slide can Flinch in this generation by the way we do out speed cadabra carbos may have helped and rock slide one shots Charmeleon so I didn't mean to mispronounce Charmeleon I also did want to say there is a 10 chance that it too can miss so it's not great having two moves with a 90 accuracy and in 4 fortunately Generation 1 the strongest fighting move is submission which really sucks it is only 80 base accuracy and it deals recoil damage it is a move you could buy from the Pokemon I'm not sure if we're even gonna use it it might not be worthwhile which stinks it would be nice to use the same type move but I just don't think because it's 80 base accuracy it makes a whole lot of sense I'll think about that for now I gotta think of where I want to go next the answer is self-company but I don't think I'm gonna beat rival 5 all on the 10th floor I do have to battle an extra trainer with a Machoke so I'm Machamp versus Machoke pretty cool but I can get another carbos a rare candy but more importantly the TM for earthquake this should speed up ah darn it I guess I'll just battle this guy a little bit of extra experience points but this should speed up the battle versus Koga because I don't have to use dig which while the same base power is a two turn attack so that makes sense to me now I could try battling rival 50 since I'm here but it's probably gonna go badly in which case we will just dig back to fuchsia and battle Koga with earthquake which should go much much better since we have very high base defense okay so he leads with Pidgeot we're gonna go for rock slide wing attack does decent damage we don't one shot with rock slide we can knock out Pidgeot do we knock out execute no even with the crit so that's bad Gyarados I'm gonna go for rock slide we almost knock it out Hydra pump knocks me out and I don't think this makes any sense I'm just gonna dig beat Koga that's gonna give me a speed boost and we have to gain a few levels just by beating the jugglers so let's go do that and I'll skip ahead and battle Koga now I messed up I should have had a potion here so I'm not at full HP so if we lose that's why earthquake does one shot coughing but it does in one shot muck and then we get a gen 1 Miss and then we're poisoned so we're gonna lose unless we somehow get some critical hit on wheezing oh no oh no we're out yes he still went oh my God so to recap oh and I did have a full restore I just missed it oh my God but to recap that we ran out of earthquakes weren't at full HP got a generation one one in 256 Miss and still won okay I'm good I'm happy that's awesome hopefully the good times continue against rival five oh I don't know we're level 40 now rockslide does one shot execute it's gonna be a two AKO reflect is fine okay it's gonna keep using reflect because it's psychic move we knock it out Gyarados oh we come so close but Dragon rage is fine that's fine we knock it out will we outspeed Alakazam no and PSY beam knocks us out that wasn't a crit okay so maybe if I weren't hit by Dragon rage we could have tanked that let's try again one shot Pidgeot execute seems to only be able to go out when for potion this time so that's fine please one shot no Lear is fine that's actually gonna boost my speed but we level up so it doesn't matter Psy beam okay all right that's perfect and then Charizard even though it gets a crit it's automatically gonna get a crit because it doesn't have base 55 speed but we have rock slide and by the way there's a hyper potion up here pretty cool but yeah we have rock slide and with rockslide we're able to one shot Charizard easily I don't know why we're not even watching the battle anymore but yeah pretty good stuff this Cubone has been really annoying lately so we're gonna defeat it and now we have well I don't think that big an issue it would be faster if we battled Sabrina sure but battling Sabrina right now makes just zero sense battling Blaine first will give us a boost in special and we'll be at a higher level which we're gonna need I don't think we're gonna use badge boost glitch I think we just need to tank some attacks and out speed Kadabra and Mr mime and I don't think oh another gen 1 Miss what is going on but yeah I I don't have words anyway another thing that's kind of annoying that you guys might not notice but I do the times where a Pokemon other than Paris so here's my team for these I catch a Paris in Mount Moon it uses dig and cut I get the Lapras in silk company it uses Surf and strength and then I catch a Spiro or Pidgey on Route 3. it uses fly pretty simple very consistent but some runs I teach dig not to Paris but to the Pokemon like Machamp because it's helpful the only thing is I can't delete it until after I beat Sabrina because then it's slow also the water looks kind of interesting but it also there's muscle memory in me just going to Paris because I'm used to it all right so let's skip ahead to Blaine that was enough talking Blaine's growlith can't actually attack me not that it matters and I do mess up I'm just gonna go for rock slide I haven't healed in a long time which does save time we actually out speed Ponyta not Rapidash and it goes for growl as a result we don't knock it out but we are faster now so much so we both out speed Rapidash and our canine unfortunately even after the earthquake I still don't knock it out but I can just go for dig and oh it was a speed tie but that's okay I didn't think Blaine would be all that difficult it would have been nice if we had one shot the Rapidash because then it couldn't use growl but at least we got the speed boost and now we get a special boost will it be enough to knock out Sabrina's psychic Pokemon well well I go for earthquake and we outspeed both Kadabra and Mr mime and we're gonna one shot venomoth so now we just have to tank one attack sideway we're good that was much easier than I thought but there are still two more Alakazam to go and those are going to be much much much more difficult because they don't know sidewave so yeah we'll have to deal with that for now we only have to worry about Giovanni 3 who's going to be unbelievably easy we haven't forgotten any HMS we haven't forgotten any badges let's go and finish off the gym leaders he leads with Rhyhorn I go for earthquake and you can see those proteins would have helped we don't knock it out guard spec is fine I just go over body slam now I go for earthquake against Doug Trio guard specs so I knock it out earthquake does one shot Nido Queen meaning it will one shot Neato King defense isn't as good and it'll be a two shot yeah against Rydon so we're at level 47 and we might need to use rare candies before rival six just because of Alakazam now you might wonder jayros why did you give the Rival a Charizard that's arguably the best matchup for Machamp well the logic I've used throughout is that I give the Pokemon that I am weak to offensively that's how the game does it and flying is super effective but that is gonna help out because that means we have both Gyarados which is flying type and Charizard executor is bad I don't know maybe Blastoise would have been the scariest but then we have our canine and exeggutor is bad so I don't know I don't think any of them are that difficult if you want my honest opinion and this one felt like the one that made the most sense and was the most consistent with how I've been doing the runs but I knew some would ask so that's your answer okay so rival 6 leads with Pidgeot one in two chance it goes for agility it goes for agility but now it out speeds and hits with wing attack Rhyhorn we don't have anything to set up badge boost glitch although because it goes for tail whip we're actually going to be a little bit faster and we knock it out execute we have to go over body slam it goes for poison powder which is definitely not ideal but we do knock it out Gyarados we go for rock slide it goes for Lear that's going to further increase our speed and maybe it's enough no it's not enough to out speed Alakazam we're knocked out by psychic and as I predicted we're gonna have to use rare candies we're just not fast enough and our special isn't good enough our specials actually our worst stat I'm gonna delete dig for submission we no longer need dig it is redundant and having a same type move maybe will come in clutch If This Were a pre-evolved Pokemon I wouldn't do this right now but as a fully evolved the Elite Four shouldn't be too much a big deal so leveling up now shouldn't make too much difference but hopefully I'm right now rockslide one shots Pidgeot and earthquake one shots Rhyhorn but with a crit execute is still a 2 AKO lead sheet is arguably worse than poison powder we knock it out Gyarados I don't know if we're gonna one shot oh we do but I don't think we're going out speed reflect is bad at least it didn't attack us but we don't one shot psychic crits I think it's a one in three chance approximately for that to happen or probably close to like 27 percent so here's what I'm going to do right now I'm instead of using the rare candies I'm gonna head to the Pokemon which is always what I do first when things are bad now unfortunately this is gonna waste time but we can sell some useless items like toxic and we can sell not the calcium don't sell that but sell fire blast and instead we're gonna buy some proteins and hopefully that means we will not have to level up I also can get mimic because with mimic rival 6 will be easy we can delete dig instead of for our submission for mimic mimic agility and then we are going to out speed the Alakazam and probably one shot with earthquake let's see if I'm right okay so now we're at level 47 again we're gonna use mimic on agility Pidgeot goes for agility that's good then it goes for wing attack we use agility I'm gonna use it you know what a few times uh unfortunately we only have four HP left so that's bad we knock out Pidgeot we knock out Rhyhorn please one shot no but poison powder as long as we one shot everything else isn't gonna actually affect us Gyarados we one shot Alakazam we won shot and as long as we hit we win let's go eight HP that's enough for me now in terms of what do I think is going to be difficult heading to the Elite Four Laura Lee a bit of a question dugong will be easy and if we use mimic it's gonna be actually easy the whole way through Bruno's always easy Agatha could be difficult but earthquake will one shot so there's really only the first Gengar we might even outspeed the Haunter if we're high enough level Lance only Aerodactyl and Gyarados can attack me and rock slide is super effective so it really all comes down to Alakazam can we get by Alakazam without losing honestly I can't tell you so let's just battle maybe something else was difficult I don't know I haven't done this yet and by this I mean record the voiceover anyway let's just go so Laura Lee leads with dugong I'm gonna go for rockslide and we quit it could only go for rest oh did I forget to heal I did and now I'm confused I mean I'm confused why I didn't heal but I'm also just confused thankfully slow bro oh come on all right I can actually explain why that one happened so I wasn't used to being confused there and it's muscle memory I know how many text boxes mimic has and so I was just mashing through it's like great I mimicked Amnesia not really even looking at the screen and I was mashing through the your confused text box anyway that's fine let's just battle again alright so this time we probably want one shot and it goes for rest that's okay I still didn't heal why anyway doesn't matter we use an elixir okay Spike Cannon is fine after the first we can use yes body slam paralysis that's what I was hoping for okay now we just mimic Amnesia and the battle should be over Slow Grow can do nothing but go for amnesia so earthquake it's gonna be a three hit KO that's fine I'll just go for body slam and earthquake mix it up a little bit earthquake on Jinx should be more than enough leveling up is fine that does mean we don't get an attack boost are you kidding me the next sentence I was going to say is at the very least the blizzard won't hurt us all right well I can just use rare candies now that might seem like a cop-out but just know if we want to keep our level lower sure not using the rare candies at all would help accomplish that but using them early is actually worse we gain more levels if we use them later sometimes we can gain two more Levels by holding back on using rare candies still the champion so by using them here it's just me wanting to make a little bit more progress because again it's Alakazam I'm concerned with alright so now we'll probably one shot dugong I'm going to use submission so we do one shot I can use submission against Cloister body slam isn't too necessary we can mimic Amnesia now with submission I know we won shot Lapras and oh I still didn't use you know what why don't I heal man anyway we're gonna rock slide the Jinx and then Lapras ah gosh okay finally very annoying battle I don't really have much to say about Bruno Bruno we use earthquake and we win are you guys ready are you sure all right let's do this he leads with Onyx we use earthquake and we win while we level up then we use oh well okay I was wrong it doesn't actually one shot the Hitmonchan submission then missed two Hitmonlee does one shot Hitmonchan is better defense and that means we're not gonna one shot the Machamp but submission doesn't actually do that much to me so okay it wasn't quite as easy as I thought it would be but it was easy enough now we can lose to Agatha because our Gengar does get a turn to attack but that might be the only Pokemon I'm worried about so Dream Eater misses okay now go back to me one shot with rock slide we outspeed and we one shot with rock slide we out speed like I predicted and now we outspeed Arbok this Gengar can just go freaking oh no never mind we don't hit ourselves in confusion we're fine alright so now we're gonna easily beat Lance I don't even know sometimes I change the music here because it's supposed to be a dramatic battle but like this isn't you know when I do music changes I spend a lot of time on that just like the color scheme I really think Machamp looks perfect I think the red really you know like what shade should I use because I don't want to just use two Shades of Gray I think it looked good anyway what I think is going to look good is how easy this battle is we're gonna go for rock slide we don't one shot Hydra bump does a lot oh come on no all right that should be fine no come on all right man 90 accuracy is not 100 accuracy I know that's like obviously true but it just it's so much worse now we can mimic agility so we will out speed Aerodactyl it's simply a matter of hitting if we hit we win we don't we lose we win there is nothing Dragonite can do even though he won't one shot it would either go for barrier actually if we ran out of rock slides and it used barrier we would lose because we'd have to go for submission I didn't think of that well didn't happen now this is what I'm worried most about will we out speed or will we survive a psychic let's find out Pidgeot we have to go for rock slide there's nothing to mimic it doesn't know agility it mirror moves rock slide which is fine we have to use another rock slide we knock it out now Moment of Truth sighting is good ah [Laughter] we got the side beam it got the cred now it's not automatic I make it back to the champion because hypnosis Nightshade and then another Nightshade and then another Nightshade and then Dream Eater so that can happen but like we should make it back to the champion and then finally I'm gonna heal I forgot to heal for such a long time anyway let's make it back to the champion I make it on my next attempt I mean Agatha isn't that hard it's just possible we lose so I miss with rock slide and that means Sky attack is gonna hit wonderful and it almost knocks me out so now the battle is just over beautiful what a great use of my time alright so next attempt we make it back to the champion somewhat unsurprising rock slide ooh we one shot I wasn't expecting that Psy beam come on what is with this another crit another crit I don't even know if we win if it doesn't get a crit but this is just ridiculous the last few runs like come on it weighs like four to five minutes each time I have to go through the elite four members like sure it's mostly trivial other than Agatha but man is this tedious we've made it back three times in a row but since you're seeing an AG of the battle you know what's about to happen Dream Eater beautiful just great what a wonderful fair game that really wasn't intended to be played this way so can I really get mad I'm more just angry about the two consecutive Critical Hits and of course the one battle where rocks lied a 90 accurate move Miss so let's try again all right can we get normal luck this time I go for rock slide it does in one shot Sky attack I go for body slam this time I didn't teach submission so I'm gonna go what Jen one miss what all right right on I'm gonna go for earthquake okay horn drills not gonna affect me we knock it out executor maybe I should mimic hypnosis just because it can be annoying yes it misses no I missed no all right turn when I'm asleep stomp turn to him asleep barrage turn through him asleep stomp crit turn form asleep barrage Miss turn five stomp crit okay we put it to sleep that's fine body slam all right so it is gonna be a 3ko so that's fine next comes out Gyarados we're at level 64. I need to put it to sleep now why did I mimic hypnosis that was dumb I mean I can see what I was going for but like come on was that no I just just attack try for the paralysis I do like having body slam because it is 100 accurate and so we don't have to double up on rockslide for flying Pokemon but man just nothing's going my way although that one was the first one that was kind of my fault all right let's try one more time and then I'm gonna level up for the record I still don't know how much a psychic or Psy beam would do we got a gen 1 Miss we lost a battle where we got a 1 and 256 chance so that's not a good sign all right so we know it's a range shanaka Pidgeot we go for rock slide oh goes for Sky attack is good okay full health Alakazam Psy beam okay so it does over half so we would survive psychic but now yeah executor is gonna destroy us unless it misses I go for body slam so here's the idea guys yes a hotness I want tail whip and Lear increase my speed increase my attack no or do nothing or do nothing or just waste my time right on okay well now I just need some good luck nope we get put to sleep all right stomp oh we woke up and barrage myth that actually has a chance to miss that so body slam hypnosis misses okay but I think Gyarados Hydro knocks us out rock slide clear wait we knock it out do we out speed oh that was that was was good I would have liked some badge boosting but yeah if Machamp learned Swords Dance this would be one of the best Pokemon of all time without that and it's bad speed Alakazam just had too easy a Time 322 is excellent level 64 is fine too but considering how much it struggled versus the champion it is gonna go at the bottom of the a tier I do want to say that the tiers I will make a video but basically the distinction between A and B is a is barely struggled at all at any point maybe one gym leader or Elite Four member provided some issues but overall smooth sailing B is a couple spots for problematic and everything below that there were a lot more trouble spots and obviously the time and levels speak to that so that's the logic of the tears I was thinking about splitting the a tier in two and while the rankings do make a degree of sense I think that fundamentally because of margins of error it just makes sense to have a pretty good against the whole game tier and then kinda good against the whole game but struggle a little bit more so that is the tier list justification thank you all for watching take care
