if I'm able to do something creative and put it out that's the best thing in life you would give Danny a dare in exchange for a shout out on your videos I knew like if we kept going I would get rich one day and it worked how did the Adidas deal come about exchange emails they started sending me shoes now how much was the contract I've been missing out on all this money yeah we'll give you 10K to do this you were doing it for free basically I was like pissed you could have toned it down a little bit and not say it like that come on dude what's the most amount of money you made come on dude get answer the question um [Music] I remember so it was a while ago we were sitting in an Olive Garden Chris wanted to uh take me to dinner and he paid for the dinner and uh I remember sitting I remember it so vividly like literally like it was last night and I had nothing completely nothing no money I I remember I think I still had like you know like a a baggie of like like a l like a ziplock bag with like cash like it was like that long ago still homeless whatever but um I remember sitting at the Olive Garden and I looked and I like looked him in the eyes not you know not like that paused but um and I was like I was so serious cuz we were supped so hungry at this time you know like you obviously wanted it too like and I was like man I want to be so [ __ ] famous that like people are coming up to me when I'm eating and it's like pissing me off like I want to be that F cuz I was so broke too like I had nothing and I was like I knew like if we kept going I would get rich one day yeah it's kind of crazy like walking around with you or going to places everything in life has pros and cons so I try to accept it but it's like when someone does do something wrong like come to your house it's like they don't understand that they're in the wrong I like I really don't get that do you remember the first message you got from Chris on Facebook cuz I I actually pulled it up here I found it I went back through it I'm like this was the start of like uh I'd say one of the biggest romances on YouTube at the time and uh before Facebook Messenger I know there was just Facebook maybe we could put this on the screen but like Chris you messaged Danny like hey Danny I just saw your strength and conditioning page which Danny had at the time and I think it's awesome that you're working with skers very proper uh messeng here I have a small and growing skating YouTube channel Chris said and I think it would be sick to collaborate with you and make some creative SL educational videos uh we can increase their performance and Longevity wow this is the most formal message he's good with like the big words and Pras and [ __ ] I'm like so I'm so fried dude cuz I didn't like I just assumed like you were I don't know like in your picture your like call shirt he's like a scientist or something like I got to sound smart till I Danny had a collar shirt on his we got the picture yeah we got to put the picture is funny as [ __ ] was this the Danny Duncan PT page or like wow he's must have scrubbed that all from the internet man no it's there it's there I'm not I'm not ashamed of it I think it's funny I think it's cool like if you if you comment and find this link please uh drop it down below but Danny Duncan in a college Shir that's not Instagram oh wow dig down yeah yeah we basic I basically reached out to do like a fitness I was doing Kines I was a Kinesiology major and I was into skating you were working with athletes and you were into skating and I basically wanted to do some sort of like science or physical education skating like kind of content but then ended up just [ __ ] around and joking dude it's so funny no we did do we did a couple oh no we did an exercise we did like a 10 uh we might have done like 10 ab exercise like just quick ones you could do like if you want I mean they are good exercis it was like a good video but for skaters but yeah for skaters and then um and then yeah we would just [ __ ] around like as friends and I was like this is way better but what's crazy is you saw that in Danny like he wasn't even doing pranks at the time you're like this guy has potential and he was making his educational training videos mhm well I okay the biggest thing I tell other people this all the time too is like he would just talk to everybody and so I I thought that was so cool cuz I'm pretty introverted and so I just thought damn like he's just able to talk to anyone and and with like the just like as if he'd known them for so long and I felt like that like that's such a a good trait for YouTube especially you know I feel like now everyone thinks I'm like an [ __ ] to be honest they just think like people say it to me all the time like I'm actually pretty nice you know [ __ ] Danny yeah yeah but it's weird dude no so many people say like I thought you were going to be an [ __ ] like [ __ ] like that I think maybe because I make so many jokes as if I'm like that's why it's a joke because I'm not like that you know what I mean like when I'm acting around like like [ __ ] off like being mean or like kidding but it's like yeah I I genuinely like talking to people I think you can learn a lot from everyone like no matter the rich poor whatever they do like everyone can like teach you something like yeah I can't remember like a time that we haven't gone to a Starbucks where you haven't started chatting up somebody in line like that K-Pop group that was there and oh yeah that was dude yeah that was funny um and I feel like Danny probably for the Creator to your size you're one of the people who most respond to comments and DMS really you that absolutely I mean like name another Creator who's on I don't know LinkedIn and responding to comments I told Chris you need to get on LinkedIn yeah I have a LinkedIn now yeah you need to get on that I remember you were talking about in one of your videos that you would give Danny a dare in exchange for a shout out on your videos dude I was like joh I remember like flipping off like random on the concrete too and I'm not good at doing front flips like I'm just eating [ __ ] he's like I'll buy you in and out if you do this or if you get this girl's number I'll the out like just random [ __ ] what's the craziest thing Danny did for a shout out the first thing that comes I remember the front flip it was a front flip right off of leg bunch of random [ __ ] remember I remember the front FP for for a shout out and then um I mean he his channel started blowing up dude he was like yeah your [ __ ] was like popping off wasn't it not right when we met I yeah no no no he did uh he beat Chris Cole in a game of skate I want to make sure shit's good he beat Chris Cole in a game of skate at the barracks which skateboarding is pretty big and then um I mean you started [ __ ] just taking off he had momentum there and just kept going I think I want to say that I remember I remember you messaging me after that yeah cuz I I remember dude I remember where I was at dude I was at in ingood Florida I was at the gym there was like this 24-hour gym I was in the gym and I remember seeing it on like Instagram something I was like no way dude he's like he you got into battle of the barracks I seen that it was Pros vers Joe's and I was like oh that's sick that's the kid that I talk to about and I was like oh that's cool and then yeah and I think we had been talking after that and then I think we were already talking when you beat Chris Cole and I was like dude that's crazy and then you [ __ ] that [ __ ] just blew up a big deal man [ __ ] crazy I I was I had to like skip a college uh presentation I was in college at the time and none of us were [ __ ] though at this time I was going to say such a big deal just retracing the steps yeah so like you did this Danny was back in Englewood probably mowing some [ __ ] Lawns exactly I was still doing training in landscaping at this time like [ __ ] we used to FaceTime when he was doing his Landscaping chopping down the weeds cuz like you were just bored and I would just talk to you you had the headphones I hated Landscaping man and I just talk to you yeah what what happened after that Pros versus Joe's video um so I remember okay so I I won and I remember it came out and like a week later I went to the skate park MH and one kid came up to me I was like hey can you can you sign my my skateboard or my helmet or something I was like oh [ __ ] this is crazy this like my first time signing something for myself because one time I signed something because I was with someone who was kind of famous but that was another time this kid asked me to sign something I was like taking my time I was like w who this is crazy and then I looked up like give me the board dude and then I look up and then there's like a bunch of kids who are coming like swarming me at the skateboard like and I was like holy [ __ ] like this is crazy wow this is wow yeah and um that's that was when I realized like okay this is this is real now cuz it's all online you know all the videos and everything but like it transferred over into real life yeah all the comments and everything when you know you guys met one of the big moments that sticks out like is you bought Danny's first car tell us about that story like yeah you tell you tell the story man that was lit oh that was crazy cuz I think there's only two times I've ever seen Danny cry on camera one is talking about that in a video and one is during our podcast and it just seems likeing about my mom it was like my mom was going through stuff in the moment though but I mean wouldn't have cried normally not the fo on I love seeing those those uh the shorts yeah they just if you typ in Danny dunan it was like Danny dunan crying it's like the first I was like all right dude bother at all but it's funny no it's cool it's [ __ ] hilar it's like just short short there's just so many Tik toks it I'm like all right dude but tell us about that Chris yeah um [ __ ] uh yeah I mean yeah I just remember him saying like [ __ ] man like he was just struggling basically just saying like ah like I felt like you were running like you felt like you're running out of time or like you wanted like you were thinking about going back home right and yeah yeah it's [ __ ] Florida cuz cuz you were staying in a lot of other people's houses and you're like tired of that or something right well yeah it feels it's like I feel bad kind of you know like you don't want to like overstay and you're welcome and then it's like you only I didn't know that many people it's like people I met through you like I met Andrew Hales through you you know all these people really mostly was through you and then yeah you don't want to like you just never want to overstay your well it sucks being in somewhere where you're not like wanted you know where they like even if they like you and they just kind of wish you weren't there I want to dip you were staying with the guy for three months at that point right that that was the when I first went to LA for something that was O but he was cool he he wasn't he didn't make me feel like that at all yeah that was very but um after that you know then I mean I had went back and forth so many times and we were just like you know I'd go stay at Chris's house sometimes and you know random places and then then there was a moment where I didn't have place to stay where I was like the bus the train or I would like sleep on the train dude and then it would stop running and then I would wait for I think a few hours and then I'd have to do the bus but I would just take the bus as far as it goes and then it would go back and then that that that I think it was the 200 was that the one damn you remember the yeah so I would I would get from from MacArthur Park to you was like the 200 so I would just hop on the 200 and let it just take me until it stopped going and then I would act like I um was just sleeping and then the bus would have to come back so I would just ride the bus again on the way back holy crap so then I would just keep sleeping and then they I get off and then I would kind of wait I remember a few times I would wait till he would wake up and then we'd hang out wow you know what I mean but like just it just sucks so a car was like you could keep everything in it your toothbrush cuz I like to shower in the morning every sing single morning I can't not shower like keep all your clothes in there you don't you can sleep in the car so it's like a car is so helpful but I was like I wasn't begging him I was just like expressing like I didn't think that would even happen I wasn't like asking for [ __ ] but and then he did yeah generosity you know it's big heart so then that happened that was insane yeah Chris I mean at that time like I I was I was doing my research I saw like you gave him this IOU uh piece of paper that maybe we could put on screen it said uh voucher for Danny [ __ ] Duncan it's sick that that you still have that photo the voucher I don't know where the voucher is at though that's the car dude that's the car in the background had to get the smog thing sick oh you took that photo yeah I took that photo and S you sick dude I would frame this man I want the [ __ ] voucher I have it somewhere dude I I can't find it Chris you got to you got to maybe create another one but what does it say in the small print there it says do you remember what it said over there oh I remember what did it say I think it's something with AdSense maybe no no it said like limit 3,000 or I forget yeah something like that I don't know what why I mean Chris I mean you you were still like figuring out yourself to like spend $3,000 I I remember I remember you saying like basically you just needed a car and and that would like help a lot and I remember like that one that was when I just started making like decent money like I just got like a hefty like nice little chump of uh chunk of money and uh I remember thinking like damn like like I could help him a lot and it's like and I have I can afford it you know what I mean and so I just remember thinking like damn this is like I can I can afford to like do something like to surprise him and I was excited too cuz I just I don't know like I felt like you were [ __ ] you were so you were so motivated and so driven and and you're just struggling and [ __ ] so I was like it would it didn't like it wouldn't like [ __ ] me up like totally like it's not like you know I had the money I could afford it but for you it would like it could be the biggest [ __ ] difference so I remember thinking that like like the conversion is a good like you know what I mean it's like not much for me really you know dude it was like a movie scene I swear it was literally didn't seem real I was like well D I couldn't even like comprehend what was happening it was losing my mind back then dude La was like the place to be if you wanted to be an influencer nowadays you know like it's better for me if I'm in Florida you know what I mean it's like I get way more [ __ ] done in Florida which is which is what I wanted I'm glad it's like that but like back then you was like [ __ ] would come here and just try to get [ __ ] done and try to make it like everyone was here so it's like I wanted to stay in La back then you know do my pranks at the college campuses film with other you know people did pranks and Chris and all these other people so I want I didn't want to have to keep going back and forth and [ __ ] doing landscaping so it was like yeah it made it so like I I was good I could just stay here until I get rich yeah and it worked speaking of which I mean what happened four years later oh when I gave him a car yeah this guy's funny dude he's like trying to code it storytelling I I don't want to say oh and then tell me about the time you guys bought in a car I'm trying to give you the [ __ ] stage I'm giv you the you I know I know I feel like you were good at like writing essays SCH I was not this too smart um but yeah what happened four years after yeah yeah so then eventually man I was making so much money I was like dude actually dude when I bought you that car I remember like I cuz I had bought other [ __ ] like houses and stuff so I was like I was like [ __ ] man I need and and I knew you were you obviously had money you know what I mean it's like you weren't broke and I was trying to I Knew like that the chance could come where you were going to buy a Tesla for yourself and I knew that was like your dream car you wanted a Tesla and I was talking to Andrew Gary about I was like I was like dude I got to like figure this [ __ ] out like I need to get this money and get this car cuz like if I wait too long I I think I wanted to do it for your birthday but it wasn't your birthday when I gave you right it was just random M yeah I think I wanted to do it for your birthday but I was like I don't want to wait that long and then um I was like if I wait too long he's going to just buy it himself and like it wasn't cuz you didn't you didn't need it you know you didn't need it for me but I was like I wanted a surprise you with it but yeah then um then last time Danny burped on our podcast we muted it and everybody thought it was a [ __ ] moan like Daddy chill everybody M it yeah just leave it in yeah no but uh yeah so then I obviously got you the Tesla that [ __ ] was sick too that was [ __ ] crazy yeah that was insane it felt like to and yeah cuz we were going to go to a virtual reality uh oh yeah I like you and [ __ ] yeah yeah yeah I actually I had no [ __ ] idea so it hit like hard it was insane yeah I couldn't believe it God damn wh what what did that mean for you Chris that seems like such a full circle moment my investment paid off you put $330,000 a Daddy I got him that car no 3,000 that car was like 52 I think or 50 give a little I this day would come turn man yeah this episode is brought to you by prize piics enjoy fantasy sports visit prize picks a unique still driving that shitty Honda Fit with no mirror the only reason I got the Tesla and I actually got the Tesla for myself because I out of safety I was like getting a little worried I was like d I'm making good money now I don't want to [ __ ] die getting a car and die and I had no mirors I also was making a lot of money I had no mirrors I was like I don't funny reason to buy a car no honestly I I knew the Tesla safety rating was pretty good and it was a cheaper car like it only for what it is it's like a really nice car for only like 50 I was like it's pretty solid like cars nowadays are like 60 70 like um so I I uh I got the Tesla because of that and I didn't want to like get in an accident get sued because of the mirrors no mirror or something I didn't know I was maybe I'm wrong but I was like [ __ ] so I got the Tesla and I threw horns on it because I didn't want them to be like oh you've changed you know I was like and I thought it was funny I thought it was funny too you got to like deface it you got to deface it so I like I like back then Teslas were more rare kind of took away it like luxur exactly I wanted like I wanted to [ __ ] drill holes in that [ __ ] cuz I don't care at all about materialistic things like like yeah I want a Ferrari and [ __ ] you know I would I would love to go I like going fast I like nice [ __ ] but like I don't care it does it's not going to upset me if I break the mirror on the Tesla I mean clear have a [ __ ] arrow through my like I don't care about anything but you're the same way like he he had this like Toyota Toyota Camry right yeah and he was making a [ __ ] ton of money I mean you had an Adidas contract you're still driving the shitty Toyota Camry and like I feel like we're we're the we're the we're the same way there it's like it doesn't matter you know like everyone wants nice [ __ ] but like there's certain people where it like matters to them like it's going to upset them if they put a dent in their car like that's definitely one thing that we had in common I think when we met yeah I think we just same like similar values or morals what yeah exactly which which same with like a marriage or like a really good friendship like you got to have like the same like we wanted to spend money on like going to [ __ ] play dodgeball or something that's the best yeah like a nice dinner or something yeah but yeah it was cool to dude that Toyota Camry wasn't it breaking and [ __ ] though too uh yeah I think that's I think that might have been my motive too is like I think I remember hearing it was breaking you told me that my [ __ ] AC was like no yeah that too and I was like scared he was going to buy his own Tesla and I was like I got to hurry the [ __ ] up Wasing I was like not I was like prospecting I was like okay how much is this going to be and know so that's amazing so even better timeing because it's like not just like a car that you kind of have two of it's a better one to like the your car was breaking down oh that car sucked dude that car was worse than my Honda Fit yeah I mean I had air in my Honda Fit and an ox cord um Chris to go into your career like you mentioned you were starting to make a lot on YouTube like what's the most made in a month and and then I want to talk about the Adidas steal because Danny and I were talking about this before I think that's one of the first times a big brand is sponsoring a YouTube skateboarder uh I mean when I started I remember it took a while to make any money and I remember think cuz it the monetization program was open to everyone and I remember trying going for it and I I was on it for like maybe a month or two months and I remember not seeing any money and thinking what the [ __ ] like what am I doing you know what am I doing wrong and then I saw 28 cents and that's when I was like oh my God I made I [ __ ] made money out of nothing you know like like I create I created money you know as weird so then uh I went full at it and then it just started you know the battle of the barracks happened um started creating all these different series um and then I remember starting to make like 500 to a th000 and to me that was like a lot you know at the time and is the dream at this point you want to be a professional skateboarder or you want to be a professional YouTuber I think you no YouTuber for sure yeah I still had an interest in skating to to progress on my own but at that point I really like progress daily love I really I was trying to progress daily but at that point I was trying to become a a YouTuber cuz I loved YouTubers like I I think grew up watching it like in high school and stuff yeah so that was like so cool to me I wanted to be in that World come on dude what's the most amount of money you made yeah yeah the question the question I think my I think it was around 207 28,000 on YouTube AdSense a month wow yeah something like that must be nice wow that [ __ ] not using copyright music I bad but that was like a good month I had like a viral video you know I had a viral video go off um I made this video about returning a pencil 14 years I knew that was I swear I'm not not to say I'm always right you know but seriously I saw that video it didn't have any views yet like you just post maybe a few hours I was like that's a good title I I knew that was going to I swear to you I didn't know it was going to go that Viral but I knew it was going to go it did it probably did like 10 million right uh I think more yeah it did good and I was like dude I and I remember I saw it I was like I [ __ ] knew that [ __ ] was going to go viral cuz it kind of flopped in the first week I was like it didn't have many views it only it probably had less than 10K views when I seen it what was the premise uh Chris for people who didn't see it uh so basically in third grade um I brought a pencil a lead pencil mechanical pencil from a friend and I remember just keeping this pencil in my memory box oh and I just kept it and I was going to like oh maybe I should it' be funny if I return it in high school and I just we it never happened and then oh maybe college and I just kept it and kept it um and yeah around I forget is it 12 or 14 years later something like that 15 years later R returning a pencil 15 years later 11 million views yeah 11 million that's crazy we put the link in the description it was in elementary school we were like best friends and then uh yeah we hung out and I I gave him the pencil back um how did the Adidas deal come about so I was at this uh skateboarding convention and I like I don't know I wiggled my way in it was called trade show tra agenda agenda tra show and I was in the Adidas booth and I like walked into their back area and I wasn't supposed to be in there apparently um so cuz it's only for people they have accounts with they're trying to sell to like shops and they're talking to other zies I don't yeah they're talking to people and so so one of the ladies from Adidas came up to me and say hey like sorry like are you like do you have an account with us and I was like oh no sorry I just my first time here like sorry you're going to have to leave cuz like this is only for people that have an account with us you so was like escorting me out and then some other guy came up and asked me oh well what do you do let me see your name tag I end up talking to this guy for like an hour he turned out to be like the vice president of action sports or something [ __ ] dude I love that [ __ ] and then uh yeah exchange emails they started sending me shoes and then maybe about a year later um ended up having a contract with them whoa that's sick yeah now how much was the contract it was uh was pretty good it's funny out fil people don't won't talk about it why is that why what's the reason because because I got in [ __ ] trouble well you did for sharing for what because I oh had NDA no I just I was telling my friends and then I think it got back to Adidas and then and then like they were defin they were just like they were just bummed that you had just said it but not like an act there wasn't like was there an NDA where you weren't allowed to speak about it probably in the contract for sure I wonder so what was but it was six figures but it was six figures and not more than this um but but but a lot had to happen in between that I mean like you like you going to that convention is like creating luck for yourself that's sick you know what I mean so did you pit yourself like like it wasn't that easy like that's that's like take us deeper with no yeah so I had met someone who was freelancing with them that same day yeah and he connected me with an agent that was my first agency which that was the biggest game changer of my life Brooks yeah werman and so they was Agency for like skateboarders creators they were a sports agency and working with social media creators was like new I think it was new for them I mean it was new for everyone it's still 2015 2016 and um he the guy gave me advice he was like you should you should find an agent and then kind of like maybe talk to them because they can get you more you know so I um so then he introduced me to someone and then I kind of like I they were sending me shoes for a while I was putting out content and I was like doing unboxing videos for them and stuff like it was doing good views for them um and I sent them my my street part which is like a resume of my best skating like a compilation of my best clips and everything um I you know I had a relationship over time they were really cool I went out to to their headquarters in in Portland M um and yeah eventually we were able to work out a deal and that was like two or three years they went on for and I remember them saying um this is like this is like their first uh like hybrid kind of deal with like an athlete social media person wow because they they sponsored athletes skaters obviously like they had people on contract for their adidas Team but not like a social media person I guess Chris did you try to negotiate and because one thing I think of a lot of people listening like they might try to like foll your footsteps like become a Creator and I find like a lot of times that initial contract that you get is like so like you're so blown away that like you know I'm just going to sign whatever comes my way but then realize you're getting bigger like like did you try to negotiate did you just take the first offer like what what advice would you give your younger self now looking at contracts and deals with big brands that you admire that maybe you didn't realize back in the day um I mean I definitely read everything or have someone read read everything cuz that is scary that world can be scary um I remember okay so I remember finding I had an email connected to my YouTube account this is a little off related but I had an email oh yeah I remember this I had an email connected to my YouTube account this is before I did any brand deals yeah and I remember I never checked it it was like kind of like my old email like my Yahoo email and I remember seeing like and this is after you know I got to whatever 100,000 or more subs and I remember seeing all these Brands reaching out loot box remember loot box was in there I remember there was like you're like what the [ __ ] missing out on all this money holy [ __ ] dude tons of brands are like yeah we'll give you 10K to do this and it was like you were doing it for free basically like pissed there was and then the first the first one I ever did I think was Verizon from when I first looked through that email and that was to just myself I didn't have an agent at that time yeah Chris is brand friendly man yeah I walked in Till's actually and uh when we first got our stuff in we walked in Till's and I seen this big poster and it was Chris really he's done some modeling like here and there you know for fun and like it was just a big poster of him like with I think you had some jeans on or something I was like dude that's sick we're both in yeah it was cool dude I remember being like holy [ __ ] that's crazy this [ __ ] is getting paid from Adidas especially back then I was like I'd be so stoked with some free shoes oh dude even now it's incredible six figures from a company you know that you like yeah it's like yep it's crazy so so what was it like when they were just like [ __ ] off um like honestly was it just like bummed as [ __ ] or what um I don't remember I mean yeah I just definitely was like not stoked to not continue the contract because it was so nice like I I didn't have to do much and it was like it's just a cool Association I feel um but I mean at the time I think I was doing like okay for myself and so I wasn't like relying on it so I wasn't like oh [ __ ] like what am I going to do like financially but um I don't know I definitely felt like it sucks cuz it was a lot I don't know you know it definitely sucked but I think it what was like the reasoning did they have like a reasoning not really no I mean it was all through my agent and stuff so honestly I think it happens when like you have a good relationship at a brand and then that person changes 100% we we deal with that same [ __ ] all the time yeah it's insane yeah it's I don't want to like not to discredit them either like I don't want to discredit anyone working at these companies but it is it's weird not sad but like it's just interesting that it might sound ins we might not be able to put this in but it it's crazy like some dude or girl like making like 50k a year can oh yeah dep can can uh those huge decision can yeah change whether I make [ __ ] an extra five million or like you know I mean it sound insane obviously it's like there's people that make like 30k a year and like they struggle but like I mean I struggle too so I get it but you know I take care of a lot of people so it's like you know an extra million here and there it does help cuz I mean we got a [ __ ] ton of mouths to feed so um but yeah I mean it's crazy like like someone that makes 30k 40K 60k like can completely decide whether you get paid or like a lot of money or [ __ ] nothing like literally they I mean it could lose me Millions just from one person making a decision it's like at the end of the day all these uh Brands and and all the everything is like ran by human beings with emotions yeah exactly you know and it's like emot it's a human to human connection at the end of the day like do they [ __ ] with you or not I know and it's like and it's dude it's ins it's so insane and then there's also like creative difference you know like I could understand why of course a brand wouldn't want to work with what I do if that's not their Creative Vision of what they're going for or sometimes on the flip side like just coming from like the like having worked on the inside like somebody's budget changes campaigns changes like maybe we don't want to like prioritize like working with all these like YouTube skateboarders you know maybe they're just putting their money in a different direction it's not even personal at all true um I'm curious like Chris like do you have at at any time like following up on Danny's question when ad is like all right it was great we're going to go our separate ways say I'm gonna make my own shoe I'm gonna make my own merch because I think one thing that's interesting is like Danny has built a lot of equity in the brands that he started did any of that rub off on you where you're like I want to start something that um could Outlast and could even rival some of these brands that were offering you brand deals or Partnerships at the time uh not not shoes but clothing yeah I started doing my own clothing at some point and that did really well um but now not not shoes I mean at some point I think I asked for like a uh like a shopping cart so I could buy just like their clothes like just a little you know but they just said like they were not down wait what do you mean what do you mean sh like a credit like a card to just buy like Adidas clothes like store credit they give they give a lot a lot actually a lot of athletes I think get uh and I I correct me if I'm wrong I could be wrong I think a lot of like NFL like baseball players like some of these like companies like Nike indas don't even pay them they just give them like a fat like a card with like a bunch of money on it I could be but I think that's what happens but I know Juju too definitely gets a card cuz like we went to Adidas once and he had like he just like Dro like 10 grand at like an Adidas you know and like bought everyone's shoes like fans and whoever he was just like he's probably getting a check though too but um yeah when is Virginia Rock signing an athlete huh ah [ __ ] man I'm going to do the energy shot yeah get the energy shot I'm I'm gon to sign Chris no I I did want to like when you were saying how it's like that crazy story how you randomly met that guy from Adidas like when you walked in and he happened to be some big executive Stefan actually I was talking to Vans because Stefan found this kid on Instagram his story is so random dude Stefan was on Instagram found this kid or no you found the guy right first all right Stefan's on Instagram finds this guy who's high up in Vans somehow finds this kid is a fan of me and follows my account and my Gary win account so Stefan tells me to hit this kid up so I hit the kid up I'm like yo what's up like and I don't ask people for [ __ ] like I think and if you're a fan of me you know I'm not like I don't try to use people but I was like straight up with the kid I was like yo I'm not trying to be weird whatever like yo is there any way you can link us with your dad like I told him what I'm trying to do like I wanted to get a shoe with Vans you know this is like 2020 or 2019 2019 yeah and uh I think we're in Zoomies already or no yeah yeah we're in Zoomies right now killing it like top selling like killing it so I told this kid he links me with his Dad we talked to the dad dad's super cool we're like yo we're trying to get a shoe the dad's what what position is he vice president yeah like vice president of like high as [ __ ] in the thing I can do whatever he wants probably um so he links us with the people they're all stoked they're like hell yeah like they want to give me a shoe so we're going to do a shoe with Vans I I even have like a recording for my documentary because I thought we were going to get a shoe so all because of him finding some kid and the kid's a fan and I mean then then we're definitely getting a shoe and then Co hits and they're like NOP [ __ ] off I'm like godamn it I was so dude I was so stoked cuz I was skating a lot more too you know I was like and especially during Co I like Vans you know I think like just the slipons are cool like you can't really hate on them they're just like a nice clean simple shoe and like I like Vans you know I like the slipon J nais you know but I really I wear slides a lot but when I skate I would wear Vans and I was like oh this is perfect it's on brand you know it's like I'm stoked I'd make money fans are going to be really stoked and then they're just like uh sorry [ __ ] off like dude come on and they were so down dude they were so down to do it but it's crazy how you can just meet someone random just like that another prime example it's like it's just humans DM the kid yeah yeah and he was cool he was cool he linked us right with his dad the dad was super nice like I was like no way and then yeah oh well pretty funny though yeah did you try that do that I know Danny you recently went to a convention in Vegas that was like licensing convention where you're trying to do that as well like just meet folks and I was honestly just trying to meet girls you were at a licensing convention I'm just kidding licing imagine uh we're just it's the same thing it's like his example when he meets that guy to I was honestly just going to go like I mean if I go and I meet one [ __ ] person and one thing happens good like that could lead to something I mean we've had so many scenarios where like I was so sick at one time I went to this I had to do this meet and greet in Vegas and I was so sick dude I should not have been there and I did it and then we ended up meeting somebody at Hooters and then that led to like this big hooters collab and then that led to us meeting someone else and then it's just like yeah it just keeps going and then I mean I mean that's how I even met Papa John was all through that because of that one night of me going when I probably should have just been in bed but I just pushed myself cuz fans are going to be bummed bro if you don't like it's not I didn't have covid or something I just get these sinus infections but it's like fans are going to be bummed if you say you're going to be here and then you don't show up and then I mean some people take off work they travel they you know what I mean for a lot of these people it's just like normal life like for them to travel it's like a big deal so I ended up going yeah and then we met somebody and met someone else and then I mean now I'm you know yeah wait Papa John was just in line or you said you met him I met I met the Hooters guy that ended up becoming a Hooters clab I got now I got a Hooters car for free food I mean like all because of that one night with Sam naaran dude it's like it's just so random and we don't use people like it just happened we just happen to connect with certain people and other people we don't but and then yeah be because of the Hooters people I playing pickleball with the Hooters guy uh Tom and uh at his house he plays pick ball and then Papa John was there playing pickleball and then me and him were on the same team and then now I'm friends with him and he I mean they're all like super nice people and like I feel like we all have similar interests like you know we're all active we care about our health we want to make money we want to do good things so it's like easy to connect with a lot of these people so and I feel like since you like talk to everyone that's like the biggest networking and I can tell like by default you know if I talk to someone I can just tell they're just like fake or just weird or like I don't you know want no fake you know you know how people are like I don't know how to extra it but you get what I'm saying like we're all like authentic people like there's just certain people I don't want to be around really and like when I start talking I can tell it's like that I'm like eh are you glad you got a college degree H um I mean I had fun in college but I didn't do anything with my degree you you don't need it right no and you know it's funny when people say like oh well if anything happens with like YouTube or whatever you can always fall back on your degree like [ __ ] no I can't what am I going to do I'd have no idea what I'd do in that you know like I'd have to go to like way more school probably and like I don't know I mean like I could but gosh always a job for you here man there you go but but forget fallback like what what as you look ahead Chris are you like that's what your dream is this is what you want to do like to become a kinesiologist no no for real like what what I mean you've done so many things like I feel like these next few years in your career on YouTube or skateboarding could take a lot of different direction what what does it look like if your ideal uh man that's a great question I have no [ __ ] idea what to do in life tell the truth man I have no idea like I go back and forth like just like creative crisis and just trying to figure out what to do I there just I I have a lot of things I want to do yeah I'm working on like a clothing thing right now um I'm working on like a pitch to this luggage company right now oh really can you tell us about it um yeah so basically um I had a friend friend who was staying at my house and um a lot of friends stay at your house like this isn't actually this is in Barcelona I was just in Barcelona for a little bit yeah and he actually just got a job at this uh luggage company he was like doing the interviews at my house and stuff and uh basically he's he was talking he was telling me like yeah they they they're interested and um maybe you just got to show some initiatives like come up with some ideas you know so I don't know I was thinking about like doing like a funny presentation or something like with like a PowerPoint maybe and like create like a deck or something I actually hired a kid because he did that oh really he made a some Alex uh in Orlando he made something bro was so funny and I was like dude this guy's hilarious what what was it for dude I don't even remember this was like years ago but it was just like he had been hitting me up a lot to do [ __ ] and then he made some sort of PowerPoint bro it was so good and I was like [ __ ] yeah and then uh you can just tell he was funny and smart at the same time you know like intelligent and then uh like useful like you he could get [ __ ] done like certain certain things that I don't do I guess um I don't remember it fully but yeah I mean it definitely worked the PowerPoint was was a good play M you you should try it dude tell them the real story dude you helped your friend tell tell me about how you helped your friend I don't know if I can say that that's the thing cuz they're not going to see it dude huh they're not going to see this okay yeah so B probably not even get 50k views goes viral calp [ __ ] they don't know what you're talking about so basically I yeah I basically made I made the I helped my friend with his presentation so he had to create a presentation for the Brand This was his final interview for the brand for the luggage company yeah to run the skateboarding division for the brand and I basically created the entire presentation for him and he got the job Ian toned it down a little bit not say it like that imagine um and so I was just it was just like fun cuz I haven't it felt like a school project you I haven't done anything like that in since like School basically and it it felt good because I've been doing you know social media for a while and so to do something it made me feel like oh may I could get a job if I tried maybe I actually talked with uh Ezra you know Ezra um Reed from Knight yeah Knight okay so they're like you know Vis he's a guy he created maker right and sold it and he's created um those uh whatever those multi things one of those but not not that one well he created like those things like they're big in business like really smart people and I was telling him I was like dude I'm telling you like if you just cut me out of like YouTube whatever I could kill these jobs like these like agent type jobs it'd be so [ __ ] easy dude like no disrespect to agents but like I do think I'm talented and like same with YouTube I think if you took away my channel like I could just do it again you'd be an insane agent dude I would get so much [ __ ] done [ __ ] you pay me no honestly I would get so much [ __ ] done I don't think it'd be like he's not doing less than 100K yeah I I just like feel like anything I do I try to put everything into it and I feel like a lot of people don't do that which is fine because like people want to get married have kids like they have other things in life like I just like want to work and do [ __ ] and I try to make my work like things I want to do competitive uh mindset yeah I guess so yeah I mean I think I would kill it in outside jobs I think you could too I don't think it'd be that difficult like anything in this industry that we're already doing where the we hire people to kind of do [ __ ] for us I think we could easily do and we know the whole industry I think it would be fun to do that for like a week but you need more time than that unfortunately wouldn't it be cool if you could see if you did a different job where You' be at right now if you could just see it real quick like a video like a Multiverse dude I wish so sick to like see like if I did this like what would happen you know if you only focus on skateboarding licensing or something yeah right that would suck yeah that that would definitely suck I mean Chris it seems like a Common Thread like you helping out and doing favors for folks not expecting anything and then it comes back full circle like Danny in the car and now the relationship you have this the guy interviewing you helped them out now may lead to your own brand deal and brand line like with the luggage company yeah it would be cool yeah it would be cool i' be yeah saw video like to like just want to work with more Brands and [ __ ] more money at least you're clean dude you don't unlike me they're like no there was one thing I saw the other day though it said um like you're saying with him like doing good things for people it was I don't know if this is even true but it was like some guy asked a billionaire he's like well was one thing that uh made you you think a billionaire rather than a millionaire like the one thing he said is it's all about relationships with people that's what he saying like just good relationships with people like I think is what helped me you know get to the next level so maybe maybe he'll be a billionaire one day [ __ ] blowing it yeah come on better relationships I do have a story actually yeah there we go okay we did this video Back in the Day skate chicks for a kiss and we went on a double date wait wait tell people the context of the video like what was the format um so basically like we went to strangers and we're like hey uh it's girls and we're like it's kind of cringey now to talk about but back then it was like more normal I guess but the concept was like Hey I'm going to do a skate trick and if I land it then I so cringy got cut this part no it's fine okay got a kiss on the cheek but that's not the point of the story the point of the story is that we the point of the story is if they kiss you on the cheek and you get the clip the [ __ ] video is definitely going viral and you're going to gain subscribers yeah it was it was like the hustle [ __ ] move back in the day but anyways that's not the point of the point of the story is that we went on this double date with these two girls and I felt like the one girl was like you were having a definite thing with the girl like you like she liked you you liked her and I felt like I was kind of like I was talking to her the other girl the friend but I felt like she was just doing it to help out her friend dude I even gave I even gave Chris a hotter girl dude trying to help him out she I was like damn dude then he didn't do anything I was like I was like what the [ __ ] so basically like imagine you you get like you like cheeseburgers a lot right yeah and you have like a taco and a cheeseburger and you don't really like tacos that much so you take the taco and you give your friend the cheeseburger cuz it's really good and cuz you love your friend yeah yeah yeah and then he doesn't eat the cheeseburger but I just felt like she wasn't into me so like or I was I mean I don't know looking back I don't know she was definitely into him and so I remember just like here's what happened dude here's what happened we were sleeping over their house and like I slept next to the other girl because they slept in the room we were like sleeping in the living room there was like a bed couch bed or something it was Andrew hales's house actually and I remember like wanting to go to sleep cuz I was like this girl is definitely not interested in me she's like way too hot out of my league she was hot and so I was just about to go to sleep and then she starts talking to me and I'm like oh maybe she is interested so then I stay up with her I stay up to like 5 a.m. and I just [ __ ] hear Danny and in the other room clapping no no no sorry I [ __ ] up the story rewind a little bit rewind I [ __ ] up the story hold on I ended up [ __ ] talking to this girl to like 500 a.m. because I think she's might be interested and then I like kind of like go for a move I go for a kiss and then like nothing happens like she doesn't like I feel like she's not she wasn't like she wanted me to like maybe Advance more but I just like was like okay I'm just you were nervous dude I was nervous so like I just like I just like we went to sleep and it was already 5:00 a.m. and then I started hearing the clap and I [ __ ] stayed awake and she [ __ ] fell asleep and I stayed awake till like 10:00 a.m. like just hearing like Danny and like I was just like stressed out cuz like I felt embarrassed you make me sound insane you're making it sound like I was doing that for from 5:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. it was [ __ ] late it was not 5 hours and I remember maybe 4 hours and then at 10:00 a.m. you came out you were like all smiling and like yo what's up dude was it good I was like [ __ ] I'm going [ __ ] home bro I'm so I'm so bummed cuz I like didn't sleep I was bummed because I was like going to get my sleep I was going to sleep early but then I thought this girl was interested dude she was interested 100% what the [ __ ] we're going to call her next episode we're calling her we're going to find out I mean I did end up hanging out with that girl later like we went on a date and we kissed but that was like after like she like found out like she saw our social media pages and [ __ ] so it didn't count yeah sometimes it is it is crazy man one time Danny uh there was this really gorgeous girl that was just like in the water at the beach I think it was night wish I had her number man and I dared him I dared Danny to go get her number and he went like fully clothed in into the water like closer like first he got his his socks or his shoes wet and I it was probably the hardest I've ever laughed and um the waves are just coming crashing and yeah I think you got a number right yeah she was just in the water and you saw her and then you went at the beach she was by herself at the beach like in the water like just at the and I think was I fully clothed yes that's what made it funny but he went like but like it was a joke like like in the I was just thinking in the girl's eyes like this guy's just coming and like fully clothed he's not even aware there's water he's just going straight like Focus so what was your pickup like when you walked up I remember but she was like she was super nice and like it wasn't like at that point it doesn't even matter what your pickup line is you're just walking gave me a number yeah and I would like Tex I don't I don't even think I I never hung out with her I don't think to be honest so I must not have no game back then I guess to be honest but whatever I did text her for a bit so it was a real number it was like some dude texted me back like catfish I miss those days man I miss when the I miss when the world like it seemed a little bigger you know and like you know what I miss is like I kind of this sounds weird I can never be a nobody again cuz once you're already this big it's like for if I stop posting right now forever the rest of my life people are going to come up to me for pictures but like I miss when no one knew who the [ __ ] I was and I was just some kid like trying to make it you know I miss like that grind when we were all like hustling and like when people are asking you for autographs or pictures it's like cool like I I do miss I do missed that a lot like when we were I missed like us like sitting there filming a video of like our goals and what we want to do one day and like no one knows who we are and we're saying we're going to get big one day like I missed that we had a video of us talking but it got deleted dude that I wish we had that video what did you guys talk about in just all of our goals and like a dear feature video like it's like I'm GNA Be A Millionaire or I'm gonna dude and I had nothing during that video it's a sick video but we don't have it we were in San ped what did you guys talk about no and we had that one and that got deleted and we did that one because the one at VidCon got deleted both of them got this guy deleted both of them why wait oh you you VidCon like 2015 dude we did a video like dear future s or whatever like our goals and what we want to do and like I dude I only had like 20K then subscribers and we did this whole video and it got deleted somehow I think his memory got full my [ __ ] phone ran out of storage I was trying to transfer them but they were too long cuz they were like long dialogue basically and then we drove all the way to S Pedro on the Rocks dude to do another one one of those days where you're just like thinking really big about life and like all the goals and like we did another one and that one got delet and I'm like bro how you lose both of them I thought you uploaded that one no I did I did like a deer feature video but you're in that I haven't seen it cuz I'm supposed to open it in 10 years it's been like six or seven years or something so did you schedule it like Mr Beast does or scheduled it years in advance think I did no there was no scheduling back then so yeah how did he schedule that's fake dude no no I mean no the scheduling feature has been on YouTube for a while no crap he worked at YouTube how would you know I remember what all those features went live and what wasn't but he like said it I think he recorded them all at once and he's like had a hide me in one year hide me in 5 years hide me in 10 years that's pretty sick um that's an easy video for the week I should have done that yeah well as you get bigger it gets less novel you know cuz I'm sure like it's cool to see somebody who's like wow they're talking when they had when they had 10,000 and now they have 7 million I know no one no one cares anymore well dude it's it's amazing to see like all you've done and all the good stuff that you put on into the world and it's coming back full circle U Danny I don't know if you have any final thoughts but this was an amazing conversation I'm excited for the Future Let's Travel Let's Travel together I'm super down thanks for having me on guys pleasure man appreciate it
