[Music] guys pick up all the dead animals this is seriously a thing where people are farming nate'll and well every once in a while they lose an animal and with that happens there is someone that comes around in a large like a straight truck like a tandem axle out of a large truck it looks like it has a large roll off dumpster on it type thing and these guys come around and actually pick up your dead animal and we saw a couple finds this summer when we were down in southern Minnesota spring you can probably imagine it it's horrendous hey expel the guy from five miles away cuz he wants to roll it all that that stuff but I'm like man how do you how do you get a job like that how do you get into that anyways I get asked I got it to this so I was going to school for aviation technology to be a pilot and I was working at the local airport out in Utah and how was the guy the ramp I would park airplanes and I fuel airplanes and do all that stuff just the ramp dude and this guy flew it one day in a giant I'm insome biggest tail dragger airplane I'd ever seen into it by the tail dragger happy what I blind so on the front of the airplane you have to bait gears and then instead of having a wheel on the nose to make it three you actually the third wheel is on the tail of the airplane so when it sits on the ground that knows its high that's what I mean by tail dragger and this guy flew I did one is ginormous I mean to punch this spinner on the prop to touch the center of the prop it was like a bump I had a dog like man you could barely touch this thing it's so tall and it was this red and white airplane I could tell it was a fire airplane so if you guys are from the West or anywhere where they have forest fires you see these and it was a firefighting aircraft and as guy jumps out and how in the world do you get a job doing this this looks insane and he said well you know these aircraft they're used in that's really the only way to get the experience to get into one of these is to go and spring and that's something I never thought about and will just go to school I knew that I did not want to go to the airlines or corporate or anything like that hi I thought I'd be a backcountry pilot that's kind of you know Callie and I love the mountains that's where we spent the winters this Colorado we just love them and so that's kind of what I had always thought but then I saw this dot and that looks fun so at that moment I was like well I guess I'm gonna be a crop duster for a little while it said I'm gonna move into what they're called sink airplanes piss-face Blewett that means a single-engine airtanker because it's just a single-engine that they considered an air tanker those have eight hundred gallon hoppers on they could hold a hundred gallons fire retardant or water or whatever it is well I struggled to get into this industry I didn't know when you want and I didn't really know how to go about it there's not a lot of it in Utah as you can imagine is where the farming is and that's the majority of it is it West but there's plenty of this newellton Arizona California Colorado so you can find it out there it's just that in the Midwest that's where the most prompted I'd say that's where the most aircraft are and I wasn't there so I made a lot of phone calls I made over a hundred phone calls I was sitting at my sister's house just out of college and trying to figure out how do I get a job at this and I just really didn't have much luck and what really did it for me is that there is an organization called the head triple-a that stands for national agricultural aviation Association and every year they have a convention and I found out about that and so I said well to go to the convention because that's where a lot of these people should be hanging out I could be to face-to-face it so that's what I did and when I went to that convention that is where I've met the person who gave me that chance and put me in an aircraft it took two years for what I decided yeah this weapon to do up and start trying to get into it it basically took me two years to find that job and actually get into that aircraft and spray my first field so it'd take me a little while but each state has their own invention besides the national convention that that they put on each state does have its own convention so you can find those online as well if you just wanted to you meet people from that state but the national convention is the route that I went and I've been doing it now for 10 years and the firefighting thing it still does pique my interest I I do think it would be really fun I know some people that do it I'm always asking him questions about it I think it would be a blast but I also do enjoy this you know it's you can't do fault well I guess you could if you both but I don't want to work here around I do I work in the summertime and there's pros and cons to each and I won't go over those or anything but this has been working really well I I do enjoy this and it works like as that just works well for ourselves it's what I've been doing but you know who knows what the future holds it'll be doing some completely different kudos but for right now I have enjoyed this so that's the story on how I got into crop dusting if you guys have any questions about how maybe you could get into crop dusting or why would you want to do this get up leave in the comment section below but it is a heck of a lot of fun hey thanks again for watching guys if you have again any questions or comments just leave below and we'll get back to you also if
