Zach Corbin sales and marketing manager with AWS air bar today we'll be going over the air bar and its features and benefits the AWS air bar and the high velocity air producers can benefit harvest by increasing net profit at the bottom line through a reduction in shot or loss and improve feeding you'll see an average increase of one to four bushels per acre the benefits of adding air can be seen across a variety of crops such as dry beans soy beans chickpeas lentils and many more the AWS air bar has been utilized across all makes and models of heads from traditional auger platforms all the way up to the 45 foot Draper's the air bar will ensure you get the most out of your field as crops are being cut loose or low-lying pods will naturally want to fall on a knife and back into the field the high velocity air supplied by the AWS air bar out front of the night pushes crops up towards the feeder house preventing Shatter loss this powerful stream of air also improves crop flow by preventing build-up or bunching behind the knife the improved feeding allows a we equipment operate at peak performance allowing for a faster more consistent ground speed while reducing fuel and operating costs adding an AWS air bar to your harvesting practices will ensure your equipment reaches maximum potential while also reducing wear and tear on equipment through better separation of material the AWS air bar employs a belt drive fan mounted to the back of the header which is powered by a PTO shaft connected to the feederhouse drive each fan assembly designed for specific header so not to affect balance and is geared to match the speed of the feederhouse to maximize power on this Mac Don F t1 for example the mounting brackets are connected to the adapter plate so not to hinder the active float system the belt drive fan assembly is ideal for air assist harvesting designed to be the most efficient fan on the market the belt and pulley configuration is a straight forward transfer of power capable of producing 200 mile an hour winds without creating excess heat or strain on equipment the belt and pulley configuration is also lightweight making it easier to install and service in addition the drive assembly is made up of common industry standard components readily available at most AG equipment dealers which is critical come harvest when up time is key the vertically mounted fan rotary screen draws in volumes of air using its aluminum impeller airflow can then be controlled using electronic butterfly valve connected to a self-contained fuse switch box in the cab of the combine the rotary Inlet screen is self-cleaning by design the cleaner of the screen the more air the fan can put out furthermore you take in less trash improving the life of the impeller while also reducing the risk of clogged nozzles the cleaner the screen the more efficient the operation from the belt drive fan the AWS air bar directs air through the transfer tube along the side of the header to the out front manifold with optimized ducting with minimal turns instructions reduces flow loss keeping the transfer too tight to the header there is no compromise to the overall width when it comes to combining near trees or fence rows mounted to the reel arm using custom mounting brackets the out front manifold is specifically designed for each model of header model specific nozzle spacing is designed to not interfere with the factory reel leaving fingers intact depending on header model the AWS air bar either uses a one or two manifold design headers designed with a single reel receive a one-piece manifold system this one-piece manifold is structurally stronger than a multi piece bolt together design on single 35-foot manifolds and longer a cable truss system is utilized to further reduce pipe deflection larger split reel headers utilize a two-piece manifold design with a flexible coupler in the center this allows each manifold to independently move with the reel both manifold designs utilize an internal baffle equalizing nozzle airflow across the length of the head a WS air bar utilizes a single nozzle light design across the length of the head either the 42 inch single bed nozzle or the longer 48 inch double bed nozzle this ensures the greatest effectiveness and that there's no dead spots of air across the length of the knife the incline of the cam is a more forward real position of a Draper head require unique solution to best place the air in front of the knife AWS air bars 48 inch double bend nozzles wrap the reel more efficiently effectively moving crop up and away from the knife positioning of the OUTFRONT manifold is done using the factory reels fore and aft settings with manifold tilt being controlled by an electronic actuator from a self-contained fuse box inside the cab in addition to the air bar AWS offers a number of products related to header loss the AWS drape brush gate assists in preserving canvas tension crop materials prevented from entering the rear of the canvas building up on the drive rollers and which ultimately leads to where an equipment failure a rigid metal deflector and fine bristle brush provide a seal reducing crop loss and header maintenance brush kits are available for all popular models of Draper's another product uses a loss management tool is this some saver a stiff bristle brush mounted behind the knife in front of the sump acts as a smooth transition for crops onto the infeed belt while still allowing rocks and heavy debris to fall in AWS some savers are available or John Deere and Mac Don heads AWS floor kits replace factory stone dams with a lower profile floor improving crop flow the improved profile these floors enhances the performance of the proven air bar system AWS floor kits are available for select John Deere case New Holland and clause heads during harvest there's no spare man in the day and minor errors can turn into critical time lost the AWS uptime kit will ensure you have parts on hand and keep your harvest on track the kit includes all standard wear parts which will ensure you have what you need and get you moving
