kanye west's yeezus is one of the most pulverizing records of the 2010s abrasive lyrics painful instrumentals and egotism are the main elements that make ea's 2013 release stand out in his already diverse discography with kanye's six studio record being bold on just so many grounds many wondered how exactly kanye was going to follow up the record today we study kanye's musical happenings from 2013 to 2016 and see how a yeezus sequel evolved into the life of pablo now because the timeline following jesus all the way to the life of pablo is just so complicated i'm going to separate this into three sections section one jesus ii one of the biggest aspects about yeezus is the album's length before kanye would hop on the seven track train in 2018 a 40-minute album was considered very short for kanye the minimalistic artwork on the album's cover would reflect the record story only needing 10 tracks to tell a rebellious tale of heartbreak however the 40-minute run time wasn't the original plan a few weeks before the release of jesus kanye would call rick rubin to get some guidance on his upcoming release with ruben's influence six tracks would be removed from the album in an effort to make the project more concise and to the point in an interview with newsweek in june of 2013 reuben would go on to explain that kanye originally had jesus at 16 songs long rubin recommended that kanye cut down the track list to make the album more concise and that potentially this 16 track jesus wasn't one album but rather two the way that ruben explains this cut basically insinuates that the first 10 tracks on jesus is part one of the story ruben would go on to say that there was a lot of content on yeezus that us fans never got to hear with the official release be that long instrumentals or different refrains and bridges on songs and while yes jesus ii potentially could have been part two to the jesus story it most likely was an alternative version of yeezus it's known that after the release of jesus kanye would go back in the studio to work on some already released tracks in august of 2013 kanye would meet up with miley cyrus at the vmas after party to work on a black skinhead remix featuring not only miley but also travis scott while the six tracks cut from jesus are not exactly public knowledge it's likely that one of those tracks was a song titled awesome this is a track in which kanye basically proposes his love to then wife kim kardashian and it would be played on keeping up with kardashians in fall of 2013. in november of 2013 kanye interestingly enough would play two unreleased songs at a party being special and when i see it we'll talk about those tracks later it's also important to note that various unreleased songs were heard on the jesus tour one of my favorites being i am not home which is like an alternate intro and kind of like an intro to the tour and while i don't exactly think that you know most of them were for jesus too it's just interesting to have a little insight on what else was cut from yeezus in december frequent yea collaborator q-tip would go on to explain that he and rick rubin were the executive producers for kanye west's next project planned to be eight tracks long in late 2013 a picture would surface of an apparent yeezus 2 track list during the good music mexico sessions songs featured in the image are man up tom cruise depiction of the devil never lose no model after you can't get over me nobody and haiti's dog in january of 2014 joe perez would make artwork and web designs for kanye's upcoming album while at this point in time it seemed like whatever kanye was working on was an alternative yeezus we're gonna see that basically when getting in the studio and making this album it kind of evolved into something more grand while kanye has never officially stated that he planned on making a yeezus sequel kanye's musical collaborator sai hai the prince would be the result of a giant breakthrough in the unreleased kanye realm in 2017. while stumbling upon syhai's spotify account they would see on his profile a very interesting playlist titled ypm which stands for your prayers matter this playlist would have six songs all tied to an album jesus ii now the public couldn't exactly play this playlist or even get access to yeezus to the album on saihai's account however we do know that while this was discovered in 2017 it was believed to be made in early 2014. now as you guys remember the original yeezus had six tracks cut from it and sci-high's playlist is six tracks these tracks would be 3-3-3 m-m-w-i-s-i-w-o-o and a-y now the titles for these tracks are believed to be abbreviations 0-0 is likely only one a song eventually released as a single in 2014. w-i-s-i is likely when i see it this was originally a kanye track and kanye would even upload his version to soundcloud in october of 2015. w is potentially wolves with kanye revealing on the breakfast club that the wolves song actually came after a conversation with drake about a potential collab album in 2013. adding to this theory the wolves instrumental can be heard in a vine posted by a dj associated with kanye dj cashmere cat however many leakers in the kanye community believe this w song to be waves which isn't the waves off the life of pablo but rather the unreleased track can you be as for the other three songs yet to be mentioned we kind of know their identity simply due to leaked tracks that we have access to now ay is most likely the leaked track after you 333 is believed to be fallout of heaven simply due to the fact that it's a religious number and that also fall out of heaven has a version that's basically nine minutes long and is also linked to another religious song from this era in time new angels and then according to leakers mm is an unreleased track titled my mind by winter of 2014 kanye's creative direction had evolved from a yeezus sequel to its very own project this project would carry on the dark theme scene in yeezus and inherit some religious themes as well introducing section 2 so help me god in july of 2014 kanye west would participate in an interview with gq magazine to speak on his recent music works in an article titled a brand new yay kanye would cite his current work musically as beautiful set to show off his pure talent and abilities as an artist when approached about when fans can expect this new music kanye hinted at a fall release date for a single more on that later as the summer of 2014 raged on we would hear more and more kanye snippets from whatever he was working on at this point in time first off in his interview with gq he would cite some lyrics to a track soon to be released titled all day the first actual snippet of a unreleased kanye track that we would hear would come in may with kanye's song god level being featured in an adidas soccer commercial also a then kanye track titled grave would be played at a london club by yeh himself featuring travis scott this of course would later be given to travis scott and be placed on his debut album rodeo travis would do very little to no alterations to kanye's version hence why when you hear piss on your grave illa just sounds like kanye just took over the song in his feature another fun detail about this track is that travis actually received it to kanye in exchange for a track we would later know as fml in december of 2014 kanye releases only one as a single as 2014 begins kanye is featured on a rihanna track alongside paul mccartney titled 4-5 seconds we would later learn that this was originally a kanye track planned to be on whatever album he was working on at this point in time but he would give it to rihanna in february kanye hosts his yeezy season 1 fashion show during the event kanye would preview the first track on his upcoming record wolves man am i happy i get to talk about wolves again i just i know the youtube comments section loves the way i pronounce it the following month in march kanye would officially give a title to his upcoming record that being so help me god and alongside releasing the artwork for this upcoming seventh studio album he would also release the single all day right before the summer of 2015 a picture is captured of kanye with a whiteboard visible in the background although kanye's head covers up some of the full track names we can visibly see a list of songs planned to be on kanye's upcoming record the tracks listed are nina chop god level wolves two tracks we can't entirely decipher uh one starting with a t h and then the other starting with an ho and then all day only one sensational and tell your friends two months after announcing his upcoming record to be called so help me god kanye changes the title to swish around this point in time a song expected to be on swish called feedback is played by dj windows 98 in a nightclub in june kanye performs at the glastonbury festival alongside an amazing performance three unreleased tracks would be played backstage i feel like that can you be and might as touch as kanye works on his upcoming record a private screening is held for a double feature music video while we have yet to see the all-day music video we do have a full hd leak of the vertical i feel like that music video which also means we have the full track which is confirmed to be at least the version in the music video 100 finished in september kanye hosts his yeezy season 2 fashion event at the show he plays two more unreleased songs don't jump in an early rendition of fade which is simply an instrumental don't jump would never see an official release and the version played at this fashion event it was very very early on in the tracks developing stages we would later get a leaked version featuring kendrick lamar but of course like i said this track would never see an official release kanye would oddly get really active on soundcloud at this point in time kanye would upload his version of tell your friends to the streaming platform this track of course would be given to the weekend by kanye still produced by mr west but when released on the weekend's beauty behind the madness album the kanye vocals and the features heard on this version that kanye uploaded would not be present on the official release continuing on in kanye's soundcloud adventure of 2015 he would upload a very early rendition of the song facts to soundcloud and that would receive a lot of negative feedback kanye would also drop real friends on soundcloud and then release nomore parties in la featuring kendrick lamar in january as kanye continues to work and alter tracks for this upcoming record a snapchat video captures a shot at the track list for swish at this point in time now this footage is really grainy and all we got under the swish title is wolves and real friends however in a leaked recording of kanye west and taylor swift's infamous famous phone call a more thorough track list for swish is visible the track list was hood famous wolves real friends no more parties in la 30 hours highlights f right now fade i feel like that only one father stretch my hands feedback and fml as kanye previewed early versions of songs and received feedback from listeners the public's reaction to his new music and fashion would mold his creative process as he worked on swish kanye would continuously tweet out ever-changing track lists to twitter constantly switching up the order of songs and even adding and removing tracks his vision for the album at this point in time was ever changing and one thing that was for sure in this uncertain time about this seventh record was that his his vision for this album at this point in time was very much departed from the so help me god era although kanye contemplates returning to the so help me god title he inevitably enters the third and final section of this timeline waves kanye takes to twitter on the 27th of january to reveal the new name for his seventh studio record waves at the tail end of the month two chainz takes a video of kanye finishing up what seems to be father stretch my hands part one as kanye seemingly puts his finishing touches on this album he stops referring to this album as waves and talks about the project under the title t-l-o-p after a few weeks of this abbreviated name kanye would officially reveal what the letter stood for the final title of his seventh studio album would be the life of pablo alongside a track list which again by the way would be altered kanye would tweet out the cover art of the album yay would host a listening party streamed on title for his upcoming album at madison square garden on february 11th after fully playing through this rendition of the life of pablo alongside showing off his yeezy season 3 fashion line kanye would again hit the studio to edit the album finally on february 14th kanye west would release his seventh studio album the life of pablo even after officially releasing the album kanye would continue to edit the record adding tracks editing instrumentals and changing lyrics to perfect the project kanye himself described the record as a living breathing changing creative expression and after three years fans finally got their follow-up to jesus although it wasn't exactly yeezus 2 the life of pablo truly is a culture defining record while its influence has yet to be openly recognized i feel that over time more and more people will come to appreciate this record and realize that kanye's method behind the madness that is the life of pablo was truly iconic although we have brought this whole yeezus sequel full circle i think it's important to look at what contents could have made up the two unreleased records that we never got those of course being jesus too and so help me god so let's take a look into these leaks all right so of course we're going to start off with the earlier record here jesus 2. the way i basically cover leaks when talking about these unreleased records is i'll talk about the main songs and then i'll have a little section at the end about songs that have little to no information like down right to they were just on the track list and we have no leaks so starting off with the big songs here we got all day uh there's two versions meant for jesus too this would later be continued during the so help me god era but this was originally a french montana song version 2 has no beat change that we would later get to hear on the release version this was also this version the version 1 and version 2 were before the paul mccartney contributions so that's right no outro another big song awesome was going to be one of the main players of jesus 2. this was originally made three versions during the thank god for drugs era and then also continued on during the jesus era and then continued on obviously to jesus 2 where version 4 meant for this record uh features ty dolla sign and charlie wilson this would also be on the good music 2014 whiteboard along with the 2 track list one of the more interesting songs expected to be on yeezus 2 was the track ben trill now this is a kanye version of a song later to be known as 3500 this was originally on a virgil abloh ep uh but this this track would be taken off of all platforms uh as it got more developed and then later given to travis scott of course so basically the story goes kanye inherited the track from virgil version 1 is solo but version 2 features travis scott and then also drake like i already touched on here later it would be given to travis scott for rodeo with the kanye versus or the kanye hook whatever kanye's contributions to the song were being taken off the track after you has a really pulverizing instrumental in the background this was on the jesus 2 whiteboard and on scihi's playlist version 1 is basically a 5 minute freestyle by kanye the instrumental is basically sia's reaper and this track would later be given to push t with no kanye feature and renamed coming home one of my favorite leaks for this era is fall out of heaven this is also known as 333 as seen on scihai's playlist version one features some lyrics that were repurposed for fml and famous uh version two is the shorter version and this is the one that's on sci high's playlist version three is that i referred to it in the timeline section nine minutes this is a nine minute version of this song uh there's an unknown track that's just really random that we don't have a name to then it also has new angels in it which a lot of people confuse that's its own separate song during this era this is literally only included on this version of fallout of heaven and then also it has a guitar solo and a harp outro and this this track features kid cudi so i would love to get a full version of this this sounds chaotic yet awesome a track that a lot of fans loved today originally started and was planned for yeezus 2 that being fml like i said in the timeline section this was originally a travis scott song that was given to kanye in exchange for grave so version one is only travis with no kanye version two is the kanye version with a travis feature this was made during the mexico sessions and then the track would evolve from version 3 version 4 version 5 version 6 with a different instrumental featuring the weekend and then of course removing travis scott's contributions to the song speaking of my favorite leaks from this era the song god level oh my lord is this track awesome this was of course the one featured on the adidas commercial but if you guys have heard this leak oh my god the refrain is legendary and then that outro hits just so hard version one is really open and it has a lot less production than the later versions version two was the one that was edited for the adidas commercial and then version 3 is a tony williams reference for the refrain the track hades dog goes by a lot of names today version 1 is a demo of the song that was played very briefly at leonardo dicaprio's birthday party very odd circumstances there version 2 is when the track shifted over to when i see it featuring the weekend and then version 3 was when it was officially given to the weekend kanye's vocals were taken off although his production is still credited when the weekend did officially release it i mentioned it when talking about fml the track piss on your grave is another one of my favorites with that yeezus feel to it this track started out as a kanye song which is very interesting of course later to be given to travis scott version one has no travis scott feature it's just all kanye on the vocals version two has some kanye mumble and then like an empty space in the middle of the song with a beat switch that was obviously for a feature to happen version 3 has that travis feature and of course the kanye vocals fitting with it and would barely be touched up and placed on rodeo when travis uh put it on his debut album another song played at leonardo dicaprio's birthday party is special uh version one was played at the b day event i was only the hook of the song though version two has a mumble verse from kanye with different instrumental and then version three had an additional second verse but this song is really i would say rough has some potential there but it would never be followed up on finishing out the big players of yeezus 2 is the track waves version 1 is the w on scihi's spotify playlist this features kid cudi and is the first known version of the famous unreleased track can you be now onto the tracks that don't really have a lot of substance to have their own sections uh starting out with the track be that n-word version 1 and version 2 were worked on for jesus 2. they were previewed at a listening party in 2014 and that's really all we know about this song black skinhead of course talking about the remix already talked about this in the timeline made in 2013 at the vmas after party featuring miley cyrus and travis scott what it what a weird weird circumstances there 444 mts is the original saint pablo there's two versions of the instrumental scene here out there connie would later adapt these and work on them during the turbo graphics 16 sessions and later be inspired to put saint pablo as the final track for the life of pablo creep theme is just a snippet of a kanye verse over a really weird beat but in an odd way it's pretty cool man up is a song we'd later know for turbo graphics 16 but version 1 meant for jesus 2 has a young thug solo reference version 2 is a finished version with some kanye in there meant for yeezus 2. only one in its rendition here in this timeline has two mumble versions that exist version three of course of this song was the version that would be released and all of these versions had that paul mccartney touch to him continuing on to this long list we got the song no model this would be on the jesus 2 white board version 1 would be kanye song but later given to sci-high in version 2 of the track depiction of the devil we know nothing about this track other than the fact that it was on the yeezus2 whiteboard enya is known as the og waves we're not talking about can you be we're talking about the waves that would end up on the life of pablo thank you chance the rapper this was featuring theophilus london although he would be taken off it when eventually waves did get an official release the track feedback would get its roots here and the easiest two era live snippet would be played in 2014 version one was made during the easiest two sessions another track off the life of pablo originating in yeezus2 uh was the track highlights but the version for yeezus2 just had a little bit of kanye mumble the track my mind is another one on the track list the track never lose on the whiteboard the world is a really sick instrumental that was meant for jesus too and made during this period in time i always had a theory that this was potentially an intro to this album it's really cool it's awesome the track tom cruise also made during the jesus 2 era very roughly but then this would evolve into big sean's all year fault and then finally wolves would get its start in the jesus 2 era version 1 is featuring drake unfortunately we do not have a leaked version of this on that very unfortunate but this was allegedly planned and made for their collab album it wasn't really intended for jesus 2 but it was made during this point in time now on to the so help me god leaks so we're going to see some tracks from jesus 2 carried on here and i'll just give the details on their renditions during the so help me god era speaking of which starting off again with all day version three has different lyrics version four uh is mixed very poorly and it's longer so very fun listen there uh version five has that kendrick lamar feature that is leaked uh plus the outro was adapted here and then version six is a two chainz reference that would not be used uh the kendrick lamar verse would also be taken off in the tracks official release the released version version seven would of course feature theophilus london and allen kingdom the track waves would officially be renamed can you be during the so help me god era there's two versions existing in the still help me god timeline while version 2 holds on to that kid cuddy feature version three gets rid of it and version three is the one that actually leaked the track four or five seconds of course got its start in the so help me god era version one was just a kanye song without rihanna and it was a basically a sped up version of paul mccartney's original four or five seconds version two was titled three it had paul vocals on the bridge and an outro where paul mccartney is singing in sync with kanye version 3 had a tie dolla feature but he would be removed when the track would be officially released with version 4 given to rihanna here and released with kanye and paul as a feature the song midas touch would also get a start here uh version one and version two were a rihanna reference and not intended for kanye version three was given to kanye and this is the one that was heard backstage at that festival and then of course this would morph into fml heard on the life of pablo with kenyan christ getting no credit finally the song wolves would continue on to the so help me god era this was the intended first track for this album version one of course got its start in the easiest two era but version two would be heard at a cashmere cat concert with some added horns version three would be the one played at yeezy season one featuring sia and vic mensah and then version four would have that frank ocean feature and of course this song would be edited once officially released by kanye due to public flack lastly we got the tracks with little to no information we got piss on your grave version 4 made during this era has that finished travis scott verse and then version 5 was finished it was titled grave and it's even seen in that one vma commercial featuring the weekend so very interesting there that it was really close to being released the track never let me go as a leak of clear backing vocals that would be added to can you be it's basically kanye just saying get off me so it's not that interesting the track fade would get start here the og version is heard in the background of a twitter video and it's only the instrumental of the track uh the song i feel like that of course we got this only because of that high definition vertical video leak this one is a hundred percent finish like i said in the timeline section uh the track nina chop later to be renamed famous will get its start here version one has uh kanye and young thug on it uh this was actually meant for rihanna's auntie album version 2 has rihanna on the hook and she has her own verse too but it wouldn't be put on the final version it was of course later be turned into famous and added with those bomb bombs the track sensational has little to no information about it all we really know is that it is the sends on the whiteboard picture the track man up has four versions in this era version three has different production than the jesus ii uh version of this song version four is a tiger reference version five is a young thug ref and tyga has lyrics that would later be planned for kanye to recite those kanye's lyrics with tyga just kind of placing there as a placeholder version six uh is renamed rap tarantino has a totally different instrumental in lyrics superstard literally this is a leaked track it's very rough in lyrics but uh it's also known to a lot of people as we floating because that's like kanye's main flow on the song uh south side serenade this was also known as since you went away version one is completely unfinished version two is finished however it has not leaked so there's not much we know about this song the mall is one of the highlights of post malone and kanye's a little meetup and studio sessions it's basically a 12 minute post malone freestyle over a kanye instrumental and finally the track ultimate lie version 1 exists it's not leaked but version 2 has been played by shea pope on instagram i know that there's a lot of kanye fans in the kanye community that wish they lived in this alternate reality where a yeezus ii got an official release the prospects of a lost yeezus or even a continuation of the yeezus story told in kanye's sixth studio record it sounds amazing while of course a jesus sequel would never see an official release jesus's influence on kanye's discography post 2013 is very apparent i mean even passing the life of pablo we see it in yay and kids see ghosts in 2018. the ongoing story of jesus ii to so help me god to finally the life of pablo is just really fascinating while all three records have some of the same elements and even share some of the same tracks they all stand out and are totally different for separate reasons ultimately i think the life of pablo was the best result us kanye fans could have got for kanye 7's studio album rather than the dark themes planned to be featured on so help me god the life of pablo is a manic fusion of the dark elements of jesus and kanye's superstar status mixed in with a massive amount of self-awareness and intimacy as kanye grows as a father husband christian and a man
