Every Kanye West Collab Album That Never Released

one of my favorite aspects of hip hop is the art of features so many songs in the rap game flourish simply based off of a guest star's verse the combination of two artists on one track can truly make for an iconic mix in recent years features such as drake on sicko mode kendrick lamar on goosebumps and lil uzi vert on shuda come to mind as features that really took a song just to another level however in order for two rappers to properly flow together on a song their personalities have to mix just right and perhaps no one in the music industry has a more pulverizing personality than kanye west which makes his collaboration efforts in music just so damn interesting now it's no secret to any kanye fan that he has scrapped multiple albums in the past but today we are going to recap all of kanye's planned collaboration albums that would never see an official release now before i get into the official list i just want to clear this up before someone goes in the comments thinking they're smarter than me i am not including child rebel soldier on this list simply based off the fact that yes the group released two songs and yes they featured on one together as a group but kanye specifically himself has never spoke on the album i know in interviews it has been said that you know they were they're thinking about it but i'm not going to include it on this video just for time's sake but without further ado let's get into our official list here featuring wolves cruel winter watch the throne 2 job well done and kids see ghosts too now the first album we're going to be talking about is wolves a planned collaboration record between drake and kanye west this would kind of mimic the student teacher vibe of watch the throne but be infused with and kanye's shaky relationship now it's no secret that 808 and heartbreak heavily inspired drake's earlier work specifically his first studio album so far gone he would even get to work with kanye a man he cited as one of his greatest inspirations on his second record on thank me later kanye would produce the track find your love and also direct the music video for best i ever had the first spark of any potential beef between the two would occur in september of 2010 when drake would be seen with kanye's ex amber rose just a month or two after the two had split now we don't exactly know if kanye was really rubbed the wrong way by this but it is important that drake recorded a verse that was thought to be had on all of the lights but when the single was dropped his verse would be gone after being seen with amber rose so i'm kind of drawing the conclusion that kanye was rubbed the wrong way by this and the two would kind of cut off communications whether that's naturally or because of this incident you can decide in about 2011 to 2012 drake would make some pretty odd comments about kanye that kanye wouldn't even kind of respond to the first one would be basically him trying to take credit for watch the throne as if him and little wayne were the first people ever to make a collaboration album in music drake would continue to kind of poke the bear and put gas on the fire between himself and connie's relationship with comments like you know i want to be a bigger star than my mentor kanye and stuff like that just wanting to kind of surpass his greatest role model and this would even be reflected in some of his verses at the time saying stuff like you know i'm not only watching the throne i'm gonna take it and stuff like that so his goal really was to surpass kanye his greatest inspiration like i said kanye wouldn't really respond to any of these little subtle jabs and the two would actually meet at ovo fest in 2013. as early 2015 rolled around the two were pretty big stars in the music game drake had his own sound now he was a big talent that was on the radio constantly kanye as always was doing his own thing and went on the breakfast club in february of 2015 kanye would kind of allude to the idea that him and drake were basically teaming up for a collaboration endeavor i'm just going to say it and and because maybe this will promote it happening the wolf song came from a conversation that me and drake had where we was gonna do album together and the album is called wolves we know now that the two did work together in late 2015 to early 2016. there's a version of wolves out there with drake singing the hook of course this would be changed when the life of pablo would officially be released but something not changed would be the writing credits for 30 hours in which drake would be credited kanye would show up at ovo fest in 2016 hyping up the crowd and he would even say are you guys ready for this record and everyone was thinking okay he's talking about the life of pablo or you know drake's recent release views but he clarified he wasn't talking about those two and what my brother was asking before was are you ready if we make the album that's what he was asking following that tease a billboard would be seen in august of 2016 with good music and ovo's logos side by side with the phrase calabasas is the new abu dhabi right above the images on the saint pablo tour in the summer kanye would play pop style i think this is pretty important as a wrinkle in the whole wolves story because famously kanye would uh have a verse on the single release to hype up drake's 2016 album views born the album came out and pop style was on it kanye's verse was taken off so this one showed that there was no heat between the two for this change and two this whole collaboration endeavor that the two had been teasing was still alive as kanye would again make the comment are you guys ready for this album drake would do his own little teasing on his instagram posting a picture of himself and yay saying there goes the neighborhood this record would really heavily speak on the whole concept of kanye and drake living so close to each other despite being great rivals they both lived in calabasas literally down the street and it's funny how the world works these two big artists that are kind of seen as rivals to most people who you know consume music and they're right by each other it's just ironic i think wolves would have been like watch the throne but with more jabs thrown at the two participating artists i think it would have been like fun you know insults stuff like that and i think it would have been great and it would have been definitely a top charting record with drake and kanye being just so popular at the time however production on the collaboration album would be halted following kanye's hospitalization during the saint pablo tour now before kanye was hospitalized he of course infamously went on this rant and included in the rant was shots kind of a dj khaled and drake for just being on radio too much talent and drake and radio and doc at 92.3 and everybody is it just me but did you hear that song so many times you've seen one baby over and over and over and when i say that [ __ ] we love drake drake is great he's a great artist but frank motion is great too it's important to note that at this time kanye was in a really bad place he was exhausted he was tired he'd been dealing with his wife's recent robbery in paris and he's in another town away from his family all the time so this is where kanye would kind of be diagnosed with bipolar disorder and we saw some of those antics that he be known for now unfortunately being played out here following the comments and kanye's hospitalization drake would uh say basically in an interview that while he understands kanye was going through a lot at the time he didn't really appreciate how he went after himself and khalid and he would say that he doesn't really feel comfy working on a record with him and putting time into things when kanye's just so unpredictable the two would obviously never drop whatever album was halfway finished or worked on but they would get back to working together following kanye's comments in 2017 kanye would feature on drake's more life album on the track glow they would also work together in 2018 during the wyoming sessions communication between the two would officially be cut off with the spark of drake and pusha t's feud which is something i'd love to do a video on sometime in the future pusha t would make the ultimate diss track the story of adidon telling the world that drake had a son that he hadn't really told anyone about drake would assume that kanye told pusha t this information due to him talking to kanye in wyoming during those wyoming sessions personally about this whole you know adidon sun situation it would later be cleared up that kanye did not tell pusha t about it it was actually push's manager but that whole incident and drake's just immediate reaction of throwing shade towards kanye's way without clearing anything up that would really stop all of their musical endeavors together in the studio and to this day they really haven't worked on anything together since next up we're going to be talking about cruel winter this was basically a follow up to 2012's cruel summer and it was a collaboration effort by the members of good music's roster in september of 2012 good music would release cruel summer a collaboration album between the members of good music's roster that would top the charts with bangers like mercy click and more fast forward four years later to 2016 the music label had had new additions that could bring something cool to the table if they all you know worked on something together so the popularity of cruel summer was set to be capitalized on with a sequel from what we know the sessions for cruel winter would be had in the summer of 2016. kanye would team up with gucci mane big sean two chains travis scott yogati cuevo and designer for champions this track would be released on june 7th of 2016 and would be said by kanye himself to be the official single leading up to the release of cruel winter travis scott would be cited as the project's main producer um cool winner um i'm executive producing that album um it's coming very soon i want to say like the top of the next year i'm putting the press on everybody i'm saying february how many songs are done right now for cool winner um i would say i would say we have a lot of songs done how many songs we have picked i'll only say like a handful y'all like our illest friends and it's gonna be like one of the illest projects and one thing i can say about this project is gonna be very youthful and the record was planned to be put out in early 2017 but like we spoke on during the whole kanye drake wolves timeline kanye would be hospitalized in late 2016 in november so the finishing touches on the record or additions or recording sessions would be halted obviously kanye would take time off of music in general and the album would not be ready to be released at that point in time you have to understand that an album called cool winter it kinda has to come out in the winter so originally it was planned to come out in like january february or even probably i would imagine potentially early march of 2017 but with the project simply not being ready it was pushed back to a release date somewhere around you know late 2017 and would be worked on in the summer of that same year wouldn't get much news to be honest with you about this era but sai hi the prince would actually say that cool winter was coming and it was going to release after his record crew winter comes right after this it's um it's just a matter of me being the right insider good music i get together with trav that's the production sign we kind of like yo what we want to do how we want to finish this then we bring it to yay and then he adds his you know his swing to it and then it becomes a thing sigh high's no dope on sundays would come out on november 7th of 2000 2017 there would be no further follow-ups on the existence of cruel winter and obviously we would never get the album so there's some tracks that we know exist for this era and were planned to be on the album there was a intro track titled cruel winter a remix of kid cuddies too bad i have to destroy you now that was titled can't look in my eyes and this remix featured a different beat taken from daft punk a michael jackson sample and of course a kanye verse this leaked track has infamously been misunderstood by a lot of kanye fans as something that was planned to be on turbo graphic 16 we do know that it was supposed to be on cruel winter there was a track called face down featuring 07-0 shake and designer and speaking of designer his song panda allegedly was going to get another effing remix that kanye would put out and would be on this record and then of course we can obviously assume that champions would be on the record as well now this is kind of a concept that could be picked up on in the future and done but time will tell i suppose our next album is watch the throne 2. this was supposed to be a sequel between kanye and jay-z's iconic 2011 album on august 8th of 2011 kanye west and jay-z would drop watch the throne an iconic collaboration between two of hip-hop's biggest artists featuring hits such as fellas in paris and otis although the record would do very well commercially kanye and jay-z's relationship would go through many odd twists and turns following 2011. so we all know that kanye would see jay-z kind of as a big brother they would work together on the college dropout and late registration and then of course kanye would release big brother on graduation as a tribute to jay the two would hit their peak as friends i would say in 2011 with the release of watch the throne and even go on tour straining from fall of 2011 till summer of 2012. but as we will kind of see the two adrift following the tour it's interesting to note that a sequel to watch the throne was talked about very early and perhaps a lot earlier than everyone's gonna think it was in this kanye and jay-z timeline legendary hip-hop producer mike dean would be quoted saying that he had signed up for a sequel to the record but no work had been done at that point in time well allegedly no work would really be done between the two in the studio following their tour for watch the throne and we go now to kanye's wedding to kim kardashian in 2014 in which jay-z and beyonce would not go to kanye would openly attack jay-z for not attending his wedding saying family doesn't just miss out on weddings he would also put him on blast following jay-z's lack of compassion uh following kim kardashian's paris incident allegedly jay would never contact kanye or the family to see how they're doing we're back talking about the saint pablo tour while on stage doing that infamous rant kanye would speak on jay-z and it's really just a sad look into kanye's manic state at that point in time hey i know you got killers please don't send them out my head just call me talk to me like a man following kanye's mental breakdown news would break from a source close to jay-z that jay allegedly thought kanye was crazy and he could only take him in small doses and he thought he was annoying the first time jay-z would even acknowledge kanye west in recent memory would be on his album 444 on the track kill jay-z we will get no updates on their relationship or musical endeavors and the only time we would really hear about kanye and jay-z in the same sentence would be when kanye pulled out of his title contract due to the company owing him money and of course jay-z would just be shifting into power at the point in time where kanye escaped his contract for the first time publicly in an interview post 2015 jay-z would actually speak on himself and kanye's relationship citing kanye as family as his brother on david letterman's netflix series my next guest needs no introduction kanye would randomly tweet out on september the 8th of 2018 throne 2 coming soon jay-z has yet to ever comment on watch the throne 2 and this tweet mike dean however would tease the record coming soon and even give a date of 2021 for an assumed release as kanye would get into politics and meet donald trump rumors would kind of circulate of jay-z wanting nothing to do with him but surprisingly jay-z would have a verse on meek mill's album championships on the track what's free that would kind of show that he wasn't totally disowning kanye following his endorsement of trump basically the verse would have some lyrics that meant you shouldn't just abandon family because of differences in politics and stuff like that watch the throne 2 has had no recording sessions from our knowledge and will likely never happen unfortunately whether we will ever get kanye and jay-z to be on a track together is probably unlikely but one can hope maybe that in the future they can team up again for at least just one more classic song our next album is job well done this was basically a revival of the scrapped kanye record good ass job with kanye collaborating with chance the rapper interestingly enough kanye mapped out his first four albums at the start of his career the first four records were set to tell the tale of growing up in a single-parent home in poverty and rising to superstardom through the education system then dropping out taking his own path and then you know graduating to the good life the follow-up to 2007's graduation was set to be good ass job as said by kanye himself in an interview with mtv and kanye would fulfill most of the promises that he said there hey mama would be on late registration graduation would follow late reg but unfortunately tragedy would come in the way of good ass job his heart was simply in a different place following the passing of his mother donda so he put his emotion into 808s and heartbreak kanye's whole plan of good ass job being the ultimate culmination of the four album narrative would be thrown out the window due to heartbreak while kanye planned on returning to the good ass job concept in 2009 the taylor swift vma incident would influence him to switch things around and eventually make the album that we know today as my beautiful dark twisted fantasy well fast forward to 2018 where kanye west is a fashion shoe and music icon in his recent discography a real hit was the opening track of the life of pablo ultra light beam featuring chance the rapper the duo worked pretty damn well together both in the studio and on official releases chance would cite kanye's first three records as his real inspiration to get into the music industry he's teased for a whole while now the idea of having a collaboration album with kanye and i think if he's teased that to the public before in interviews you damn well or sure he's had conversations with kanye about it but as fall of 2018 came around kanye's working on yandi and no one really expected that that was like way far gone no one was thinking about if kanye and chance were going to have a collab record together well on september 17th of 2018 chance is having his open mic event in chicago and out comes kanye west a surprise appearance and he gets on the mic and says this me and chance work on a new album [Applause] at this point kanye was stirring up political issues and teasing watch the throne 2 and of course his own record he was working on at this whole era in his life would ultimately be thrown out the window chance wanted to return to that classic kanye sound as heard on his first through records the very sound that inspired him as a young teen to get into making music thus the return of the good ass job title and likely the sounds and themes that were going to be heard on the record unfortunately that's really all we know about job well done we have reference tracks and freestyles from chicago sessions but ultimately the concept would never see the light of day this record likely could have put chance the rapper on the map as you know one of hip-hop's biggest stars he was real close he was right there but then he dropped the big day the less said about that record the better all right our final album to talk about today is kids see ghost 2. this is an expected follow-up record to kid cudi and kanye west's 2018 album kids seek ghosts cudi and yay's relationship strains back to 2008. cuddies a kid named cuddy mixtape would heavily inspire kanye's fourth studio record 808 and heartbreak and the two would work together very well following their inaugural collaboration on welcome to heartbreak gold was really struck with kanye and cudi in 2008 and their relationship would continue as the years went on in classics such as maker say gorgeous and father stretch my hands part one we jump now to 2018 where kanye is having his now famous wyoming sessions while they would work on kanye's record yay they would work on something a little more collaborative i guess you can say a collaboration album titled kids see ghosts with both facing a past of mental health issues and depression the project would basically be inspired by their past issues speaking to those kids who have demons you know those kids who see ghosts the seven track record would impress many with a raw sound and elements of rock the album would actually be self-titled as kanye and cuddy would officially make their group known as kids see ghosts kid cudi would speak on the potential of a kids sea ghost sequel in late 2019 saying that kanye had reached out about doing another album together and that there will be definitely more to come from the duo there will be more kissy ghost albums kanye has already told me that he will just start working on the second one interestingly enough in december of 2019 a fan would run into kid cuddy on december 22nd randomly on the streets in chicago they would ask him about kids see ghost too and kid cudi would basically tell him i was just working on it that would be the last time that kanye or kid cudi would mention kid see ghost 2 or its progress but kanye in a mass announcement titled west day ever in june of 2020 would announce a kid see ghosts animated show directed by takashi murakami the man responsible for the album's very striking cover art assuming that the show eventually does come out it's likely that the duo will want to drop some music to really hype up the show and potentially get the ratings up now i have this thought in my head and i could be blatantly wrong here but i want to include it just in case i i tried to do my research and find it but i thought i read somewhere that kid cudi had basically stated he did all his work for kids he goes to and he was really waiting on kanye to do his side of things i could be wrong i would like to be fact checked on this for once youtube comment section but i couldn't find the statement or the article or the reddit post so you know i don't want to say that it officially happened ultimately out of all five records we've talked about today i think this is the most likely to actually come out i'm not saying it's coming out tomorrow or even in a year or two years but in the future i think we will eventually get a kid see ghost too while for the time being production of the show has been halted as said by director takashi murakami i still think we could get the sequel even if we don't get the animated show just based off of the inaugural record's popularity ultimately it seems like it's up to kanye to kind of get on his grind and work on the second kidzi ghost record even if we don't get a kitsy ghost 2 we will definitely be seeing kid cudi and kanye working together sometime in the future with rumors of yay and cudi being in the green tile studio in late may of 2021. kanye for some reason just brings the best out of artists when he works with them be that jay-z chance the rapper or even kid cudi his collaboration endeavors on records like kids see ghosts watch the throne and cruel summer have been nothing short of legendary making the prospects of these never released collaboration albums just so fascinating because of the magic we have seen kanye create when working with other artists on a single record however his abrasive trait of just throwing projects totally out the window as a perfectionist has doomed us fans from hearing many albums that were supposed to be released in the past and i think we'll continue to do so in the future kanye is gold whether on his own or in a duo and let's just hope sometime in the future he gets the team up with someone else for another joint music venture
