Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I love how proud he is at the end!
I love onngi technique, one of oldest pot making techniques forming with coils done to perfection in large form.
Heβs also a super funny and generous guy! I got to hang out with him for a day at his studio, make some Onggi, and have a few drinks. At the end he gave me some of his tools to bring home. Amazing guy, he makes it look so easy!
A lot of potters get posted here and they're generally well-received. I get it - pottery is hard but it looks cool. I was a professional potter once, but I get rather annoyed when some 3rd rate potter gets featured, explaining their "techniques" while making some crappy, wet, off-centered, over-trimmed piece from store bought materials that they know nothing about.
I can say that this guy is easily one of the best potters I've ever seen. The skill and knowledge in this video is better quality than pretty much any potter that has been posted on this sub before.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Thank you for posting it.
Thank you!
itβs a bummer they had to wait 10,000 years for the soil to settle before making these pots
Now all I need is some grandma's secret kimchi recipie.
This is awesome and that dudes calves could probably snap all our necks just by getting too close to them.
