the whole thing was to do do the qur'an at a budget and keep it many cosmetic apart from the airbags and it was all going swimmingly well until um they've been on the road about a year an idiot ran a red light so i some nailed the brakes there's a big knock knock knock bang I've stuffed up and hadn't um threaded the air clean and that rod far enough into the into the Holley carburetor and the II clean had fallen off and the engine ate the air cleaning up and basically at a pledge to hole through number one bore and was toast sodium almost cost to the build of the car in another engine not a good look one day there are going toxic and click off while them I'd had my 36 sold it inside I want to get it like a mile custom would be to Paso Robles in the States in 2006 and sort of got a spider the whole you know sway metal flake thing that been going on and so I'm looking around she saw Thunderbird there that caught my eye same year and have been done in northern primer but it being shade looked pretty good and I thought something a bit of inspiration I figured that's what I do so I started looking pretty well as soon as I got there we found this one in Carlsbad guys in bunch of photos over here look at it look pretty good body looked good had a really nice and tear in it which was sort of a bit of a bonus and so Steve kill think you'll be shipping he when it look tired drove it for me was impressed with it and he he did the deal paid the money on my behalf and shoved a bag it's bit of an acquired taste a lot of people them don't don't do the t-bird things don't don't get it until I saw that Karen pastor I don't really think t-bird either and I saw the lines and it looks so much cleaner with you know all the rubbish shaved off it no door handles and all that sort of stuff and the stock form it really didn't do it for me at all but then I thought you know I could see what I visualized how it law and it was done and it was probably to get into it yet my cousin was always the plan parked in the shade got the grinder outstripped the chrome off and started grind away the holes and just found inches in inches of body filler and opens up turned out the body was not as good as its what it was going to be so the pain was really just raised up the holes or what up the holes um type to the painting and be cruising but it turned into I'm an 18-month mission driven pray get Kiwi beat heated some recipes in the rear quarters and he let me loose with a MIG welder I show you had a world up the trim holes probably got a transported pecked home and tilde the filling and blocking and prep and priming and one sort of thing here in the shed and it all the shiny green and then partway into the belt I thought why am I doing this I'm going to go suede so into Smits and they mixed up some littler to pack epoxy similar color to her had a merc and the green on the middle flight roof as the green was going to paint the whole car with some rough flake in it which cascade auto finish did I prep the car got it totally ready for paint final scene we wouldn't a John's booth and over a couple days John painted the um the suede green in the in the middle flake roof the bags are a big change but on the Thunderbird ear IDG doesn't cut for it supposed to be Bolton but like all Bolton's that wasn't a Bolton but it is pretty straight forward process Lee took the shocks and springs at the front put the shockwaves in and at the rear still got to leaf springs on it we're just air bags over the Leafs very straightforward setup and this are us gave us a hand with that we multiplied the breakers at the Front's the shock waves on foot so the shock waves mount down through the a arms to make it lower and at the back we beefed up the the cut and we added um control arms and up to a to tie the rear end and nice and tight so there's no spring wrap up we give it a welly people asked wasn't like begged and it rides didn't deadstock it and it handles well the shop based on that are adjustable so put heaps of miles on it South Island twice lots of happiness twice up north yeah been other place like a rash really get lots of miles customers I'd love to see more customers be mild or full customs and I think there is bit of a movement or customs know a couple of guys at the moment that are um ahead brought in or bringing in MOOCs to chop customs and the more custom here that a few more swayed cars with flake roofs running around and yeah the thing I really like to see happen more it's so it's a good gonna put it it's a nice easy affordable way to get into you know a cool car that's different and something the whole family can enjoy too you know my wife enjoys the car she'll jump on it and head out with me whereas my 36 Ford it wasn't really her thing it was noisy it rattled and you know wasn't they comfortable this is all about driving a lounge around and yeah she loves it so it's a bonus you know drive around t-bird and get Sharon comes along with me it's good you
