good day folks and welcome back to the channel so let's talk about the face this face is not Indian it's Cambodian I found a photo that I had taken and this is from Cambodia okay okay and so you can see it's just a perfect kind of replication pretty much identical almost yes pretty much identical so so you know I'm going to have to say it was a replication done in Cambodia and it's probably like around maybe 75 to 150 years old somewhere in there they they did this statue what's something like this go for ,200 to maybe like $2,200 on the upside would be what you're looking at today we'll show you the horrible replicas on Pawn Stars absara dancer statue in another memorable moment on Pawn Stars Ray brought in a Sandstone statue of an ancient absara dancer claiming a data back to the 10th Century I have something very very unique that you've probably never seen before I've worked here 25 years dude okay this is ancient aspar dancer statue from the 10th Century made out of sandstone okay and where in the hell did you get this it's been in our family forever since the 10th century you said this has been in the family forever do you know how someone got it originally um not from a couple Generations back it came from India we've had it sitting out there for a long time and okay so you had an ancestor who was lived in India or visited there or I'm from India myself okay if this is from the 10th Century it's Uber cool because this is a real piece of art and it's an amazing condition and that's the part that scares the hell out of me okay okay cuz so these are things I need to look into India was a really popular tourist spot for the past 150 160 years and when you have tourists you have people who want to sell them stuff there was a lot of fakes made but there was also a lot of people grabbing every old Temple and everything they could find to sell it to the British tourists cuz they had hard currency so I need to know if it's real I'm assuming you want to sell it yes yes and how much do you want for it I was asking $5,000 for it I would really like someone to check this out I'm going to call it my friend Phineas he's a strange cat but he really knows what he's talking about okay Rick was suspicious of the statue's excellent condition and called in Phineas an expert in Indian art to examine the piece for authenticity and value unfortunately Fine's determined that the statue was not authentic but a replica I'm so glad you call me in to look at a piece like this and I know some interior decorators would probably spring for that right now you know like I put it on their shelf so RI what are your your personal concerns about it well well first off he says from India and the 10th Century which means it's like 1,100 years old it's in really good shape okay looking at the Exquisite way that it's been preserved and the Aging signs If This Were sandstone a thousand years old it would be pitted terribly um they we never get them in museums that look like this so you're calling this an absara right an absara is a Sky Angel to indicate absara you want to see it flying and it usually has feet that are kind of crossed or going up like this you know as if it's flying out of the sky this piece is missing the feet which is very interesting to me so let's talk about the face this face is not Indian it's Cambodian I found a photo that I had taken and this is from Cambodia okay okay and so you can see it's just a perfect kind of replication pretty much identical almost yes pretty much identical so you know I'm going to have to say it was a replication done in Cambodia and it's probably like around maybe 75 to 150 years old somewhere in there they they did this statue what's something like this go for 1,200 to maybe like $2,200 on the upside would be what you're looking at just by knowing it was fake brick offered $800 which Ray accepted are you still stuck on five grand like not anymore okay so what are you willing to take for it 18 I'll give you 800 bucks 900 no no 850 no I'll do it okay sweet cool man I'm going to meet you right up front and you even get to keep your box the fake Statue was a wakeup call for Rick and his team this shocked everyone Rick and the crew decided to be more careful with antiques in the future bab Ruth baseball card the excitement fizzled when Derrick brought in what he claimed was a 1915 bab Ruth baseball card only to have it declared a fake Rick was eager to buy it considering it a rare find I have a bab Ruth basebar card did you say bab Ruth candy bar really was hungry where did you get this I found it in our shed in our backyard you just found it in a shed it was in a lot box it was my grandfather's you know this is Babe Ruth when he was still with the Red Sox some people consider the best baseball player ever I mean if he wasn't a pitcher at the beginning of his career he would have probably hit over a th000 home runs wow no one knew him as a pitcher yeah most people don't realize he started off as a pitcher and most people don't realize what a great pitcher he was I mean literally one year of pitching his Ra was 1 75 wow what happened with Babe Ruth I believe is he kept on telling the owner of the Red Sox I want to be a hitter full-time I don't want to pitch I don't want to pitch and it eventually ended up going to the Yankees this got to be the dumbest tra in baseball history you know what that's why they didn't win the World Series for a very long time it was the curse of the Bambino Babe Ruth is one of the guys who made baseball America's favorite pastime his record of 60 homers in a season took over 30 years to break and his lifetime home run record took even longer baseball cards like this uh were generally sold in cigarette packs back in the day major Stars used to endorse cigarettes nowadays they don't do that now this one I find it a little weird that it's got a newspaper advertisement on the back of it do you have an idea what you wanted for it $65,000 this is the big thing with a bab Ruth baseball card they've been faking these things since the' 40s and the ' 50s they've always been worth money so they've always been faked so I'm not going to say it's real until I have someone else look at that sounds awesome to me it's extremely rare for authentic Babe Ruth member Bia to walk into the store this could be an absolute jackpot but 65 Grand is way too much to risk without getting it checked out first however Rick wanted to ensure its authenticity so he called in an expert Jeremy both Rick and Jeremy were excited to see the card but their excitement quickly faded as Jeremy declared it a copy with no value what do we have the Great Bambino we got an old Babe Ruth car man you got to be kidding this is just awesome in baseball there's no name bigger than Babe Ruth by the time he was 19 he signed a minor league contract the problem was since he wasn't 21 the uh owner of the minor league organization had to take custody of him so he could sign the contract then his teammates kind of tease him saying hey that's Jack's newest babe and that's how the name Babe Ruth came to be that's cool Babe Ruth items especially from his playing days these are pretty much one of the only guarantees in sports memorabilia that always go up what you have here it's one of Ruth's earliest cards and it's the very first ever feature him in his major league uniform this is a top five must have for any serious collector what this is the sporting news that basically had two 200 card sets that were distributed in their Publications every week on this one we have the tribute and advertisement which of the two babe ruths this one's the more preferred one last time I checked there might have been maybe 40 or 50 of these known to exist the highest graded example of this I saw so for over $200,000 not too long ago let's start with Condition it's not mint but it's not bad the corners and the edges are actually quite nice and what's amazing about it the centering is almost dead on what we're looking for is we need to analyze the Paper Stock and just overall feel and texture now as far as value on this nothing what we have here is not a real card the whole texture is off the coating on the surface and especially the printing even though the technology was pretty weak back then it was a lot more clear than what it appears on the Babe Ruth card here so this is without a doubt a [Music] reprint yeah fortunately you don't uh have a winning lottery ticket here man it is what it is yeah sorry man Derek's dream of selling the card for 65 Grand crashed the disappointment was evident on both Derrick and Rick's faces as Derrik left without a deal well it's a bad day now sorry man well have a good one though you to $65,000 that close but no cigar you know I'm just disappointed in the end everyone was shocked and disappointed by this discovery Pegasus statue check out this wild incident on Pawn Stars where a fake item will shock you Raphael came to the shop with an 1880 bronze statue by lis Bard depicting Pegasus and percus how you doing gentlemen oh pretty good I have a bron statue I like to sell do you know much about it I don't know what to tell you about that this is a statue called Pegasus and this is Perseus Perseus was the mythological figure that killed Medusa if this is a genuine peal we're talking thousands of dollars his sculptures are highly collectible but in the art world there's just millions of fakes so you have to be really careful I decided to come to the pwn shop today to sell a limited edition 8 1988 Bron statue by Luis picot I want to sell my statue for about $6,000 but you know if the I can take 55 but I won't take less he aimed to sell it for $6,000 however Rick had doubts about its authenticity thinking it might be a 1950s recast rather than an original from the 1800s the patina looks right what doesn't look right is there's some pic right here and that crack right there is from when they casted it it didn't happen later if it's an original the casting will all be right is I don't know how to respond I believe this was recast probably around 40 50 years ago long after Pall died why would they do that you have collection France says made in USA below it this was not made in 1888 the original was made in 1888 I don't believe you okay I mean I just don't see 1800s here what you've seen and what you can prove is two different story it's not as old as this date says it is I don't care what you say but I know you're full of you know it's all right Antoine I got it I got it Raphael grew in increasingly frustrated insisting it was genuine while Rick remained skeptical eventually Rick decided not to purchase it unwilling to take the risk of buying a fake sculpture that's just what I say we might be wrong we don't know we're in the business to make money but when we don't feel comfortable with something we're going to back off we really appreciate you bringing it in but it's not for us that's all I can tell you I'm glad he didn't want to buy this his loss not mine this left both of them disappointed and unable to reach an agreement so Raphael left disappointed still believing the statue was real despite Rick's doubts Jimmy Hendrick poetry Rick was curious about a seller who claimed to have poetry written by Jimmy Hendrick hey how can I help you so I have some poetry here written by Jamie Hendrick been carrying it never folded it since I've had it and cherished it you're saying Jimmy did this yes sir you really have to say more than Jimmy Hendricks you just don't know I mean people remember him for playing the star spangle Banner at woodst with his teeth but the other thing about him was he was a true artist he did things with a guitar that had never been done before he made a guitar sound different than anything before and when he died it was a crying shame most people consider Jimmy Hendrick the greatest rock guitar player of all time just about anything he owned signed or touched can be worth money but a Hendrick Lost poem this thing could worth a fortune he detailed a familiar link to Ricky Hendrick gain through extensive band promotion so how'd you get this I started working with a relative of Jimmy Ricky Hendrick here I spent a lot of money promoting these guys and I became part of the family with them and so they gave me this poetry my biggest concern is this is in awfully good shape I mean generally if he wrote something like this someone would have folded it up put it in their pocket do you have any paperwork or anything else saying that Jimmy did this there's a book coming out about lost poetry of Jimmy Hendricks a historian with a book emailed me about the Lost writing do you have anything specific to this saying that it's real no paperwork from being authenticated I'll tell you what I'll have someone check it out but I'm not going to even start talking price talking anything right until I have an idea that this is actually the real deal do you mind coming back when I got someone here that can look at it sounds good all right sounds great man wanting to verify its authenticity Rick sought an expert evaluation the expert reveal numerous concerns such as the use of a felt tip pen deferring from Hendrick's customary ballpoint style this is what we got it's supposed to be some poetry by Jimmy Hendrick well Rick if it's this authentic it's going to be very expensive there's no doubt about it let's see what it says here Jimmy Hendrick signature is one of the most diable rock and roll signatures there is he died at a very young age at 27 years old and he was actually only really famous for 4 years so there really is not a lot of them out there well this definitely sounds like the type of lyrics that he would write you know it's very esoteric in this the kind of thing we want to look for but we obviously got to take a look at all the little details okay well clearly we got a situation we're dealing with a uh a felt tip pen almost all the poems or lyrics I've seen of him has been done with a ballpoint pen another thing we have to look at is the letter structures the capital I has a very squiggly line for the top bar that's not something I've seen before it's usually block type lettering and the S are just slightly different than what I'm used to seeing how it hooks down and it hooks back up M that's not quite what I've seen before anomalies in letter formation notably the wavy line the capital I fuel skepticism signature size and style inconsistencies further raise doubts let's take a look at the signature itself the handwriting is about the same size as the signature in every case it's three four times larger much more flamboyant the last name seems to be you know printed type style he would always write incursive seen a lot of different problems with it and I can guarantee you that this is 100% not authentic I mean to hear something like that after seeing this and comparing it with other writings I have doubt your opinion well unfortunately uh I can only go by the evidence that's on the paper right I can't go by certain stories or precedence and what I can tell you right now there 100% certain this is not authentic I'm very sorry to tell you that thanks a lot D no problem thank you Rick for calling me in appreciate it all right I can understand the owner of the document being disappointed obviously it's worth a lot of money if it was AIC uh clearly it is not unfortunately I can only go by the evidence on the paper and it's just not there well I just happen to disagree I know what it's meant to me all these years and um the I'm sorry there's just nothing I can do with it okay well thanks for bringing it in man I appreciate it thank you guys you sir well we couldn't make a deal today with the guys it doesn't bother me about whether I sell it or not I've already had family look at it I've already had something more than what this expert has look at it I don't trust his opinion when I've lived it in the end the expert determined the item was fake due to significant irregularities this is where we'll end our
