HORNADY LEVEREVOLUTION 45-70: 325gr. FTX vs. 250gr Monoflex

today we're going to be doing some penetration testing with the 4570 round [Music] hello folks this is clayton mark sure the adventure cowboy channel we're gonna be doing some penetration testing today with the 4570 round i'm going to be shooting the Cimarron 1874 sharps and the ammo we're using is from quantity the lever evolution I'm going to be shooting the 325 green which everybody kind of knows as the standard round and I'm also going to be shooting the 250 grain mono flex bullet the mono flex bullet is hornaday's gmx bullet which stands for gilding metal expanding which is their answer for the non-lead bullet market they both shoot about the same speed so it'll be interesting to see what the difference is when we hit the water with them first up will be the Hornady lever evolution 325 grain bullets okay let's see what the damage is here we got one two three you can see a little bit of shrapnel there Force one's blown up pretty good five and I can see a bullet there's a bullet in the bottom let's dump that out okay now this is actually fairly common for the lever revolution 325 grain bullet the core and the jacket will separate now my experience on game has been very very good with this round even if there is some Jacket separation there's still a heck of a lot of lead moving forward the beautiful mushroom and the jacket has a lot of weight to it as well and of course some jagged edges so still a very devastating round even though you have jacket separation so the 325 grain lever evolution bullet went through one two three four and ended in the fifth jug this will be the second shot 325 grain bullets we got one two three four five and the bullet is again in the fifth jug [Music] now we're going to be shooting the Hornady lever evolution 250 green mana flex bullet okay so the 250 grain lever evolution mana flex bullet one two three four all the bullets sitting on the table right here broke off a couple petals still quite a bit of bullet there and it penetrated through five and dented six we do one more of those just to make sure this will be the second shot with the Hornady lever evolution 250 grain model flex that second shot with the mana flex to go one two three four and penetrated three five and our bullet is right here between five and six so this second 250 green lever evolution penetrated through five jugs and bounced off the six we've found both of these in between the fifth and six jugs so they have penetrated a little bit farther than the 325 grain jacketed lead bullets so for our penetration testing on the 4570 Hornady lever evolution ammo we've come up with a couple conclusions these are the 325 grain FTX bullets both of those penetrated into the fifth jug of water your one gallon jugs we had core and jacket separation on one round the other one was just fine on the 250 grain mono flex bullets these penetrated all the way through the fifth jug and came out between the fifth and sixth there's still some pretty good weight to these but they did lose a couple petals it's kind of hard to say those petals would be pretty lethal going through something even if they broke off I'm kind of impressed that the 250 grain bullet actually penetrated farther than the 325 grain bullet [Music] [Applause] [Music]
