we remember him I I'm just so glad that I was one of the generations that got to experience him firsthand his mark will be left on this place forever as long as the Grand Ole Opry and as long as this building is here his memory is intact he really was as important as anyone has ever been to this hey it's Leslie hanging out here outside the Grand Ole Opry celebrating the life of little Jimmy Dickens who passed away on January 2nd and we'll have more footage plus some fan interviews coming up right here at the Nashville Country Club tell us your name Lena I'm aguar I'm a Quincy McGuire awesome so what are you guys here to do like what is this today this is a celebrating life of one of the biggest opera stars of all time little Jimmy Dickens and we're just here to honor his memory and celebrate his life along with everybody else and just remember what he represented what he was the Grand Ole Opry and to country music itself did you get to see him at the Opera before he passed away yes ma'am I sure has how was that experience it was a great experience I may only know Jimmy from you know my parents were from a much older generation so I got to know some of his music but mainly what he did with Brad Paisley and other artists over the years is what really made me like him become a fan of him Brad Paisley said Rick when he has something for to do in a lock in the video or a couple crews like that that somebody else won't do he calls me cuz he knows I'll do it and and that was a joy for me I want to thank mr. Paisley for the nice things he's done for me in his videos in severe the first thing that I'm gonna do is spread my wings and fly I'm gonna land sideline I run my fingers through is me there I'm not fine Jimmy had so many great musicians played with him as a fellow musician we always marveled at the great bands that Jimmy had those great twin guitar players in the earliest band when he first got here he played with two great guitar players Grady Martin and a fellow named Jambo Arrington and jabo unfortunately passed away as a young man and crushed Jimmy and 60 years later I get a phone call from a family that I don't know and they said we're the Arrington family and our one of our family members jabo played with Jimmy back in the day when he first came to the Opry was in his band and we have his old guitar and we wondered if you would be interested in it and I said absolutely they were kind enough to come to Nashville let me see the guitar let me play it and and I said I would I would be honored beyond belief to have this purchased the guitar and they said our only dream is that that guitar be played on the Opry one more time I said I can do that we'll do it tonight and I went to Jimmy and I said I don't know if you recognize this but this was Jabba's guitar that he used to play with you and could I come out and play one song with you tonight so the last time I got to play on this stage with Jimmy I played this guitar I thought how appropriate to take an instrument that back in the late 40s that was used to support such a great man that when we send him home that that very same instrument sent him home don't you could know the pain were free the fangs the devil you were no stranger to me coolest I saw you all of his done go to Shannon we'll take it from here little buddy everyone come back out and this tradition that he began will continue with all of us and we owe it to his memory to keep this place alive and going for forever I was standing by my window on a cold and cloudy day when I saw that there's come rolling in my mother will the circle be unbroken by by oh there
