It's been raining a lot lately and I have covered the mill to prevent it from rusting. I have not entirely completed the build yet. But today I want to test it on some logs for the first time. I'm checking if the belt stays on the tensioner while spinning. I am using a bottle jack to tension the blade. Tightening these bolts will prevent the blade from getting loose. I noticed a misalignment in the wheels so I had to readjust their position slightly. Here I'm checking the tracking of the blade. In my efforts to align the wheels, I did not notice I'd put the blade in the opposite direction. Luckily I noticed that later and turned it around just before starting to cut. I have not made a lifting system yet so I'll have to do it by hand for now. The log is not as heavy as it may appear. The only problem is it is trying to roll down while I'm lifting it. So I wedged one side with a smaller log. What I'm milling today is a Paulownia trunk, cut down a few days ago. If you like the video please consider subscribing. I am going slow and keeping an eye on the blade as it moves forward. It cuts through the wood nice and smooth. I will be uploading a separate video going through the parts I've used and how I built the mill. I will be rebuilding the house extension you see behind me this summer. I will be using the wood I'm milling for the roof. If you have any questions about the sawmill, please leave a comment.
