Homemade air conditioner DIY - Awesome Air Cooler! - EASY Instructions - can be solar powered!

hey there this is just quick video to show you another one of these ice based solar-powered air coolers I set up [Applause] real simple to make I'll show you how to do it [Applause] all right now we just got to cut them [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] perfect [Applause] all right I got to fire it up now you can see the airflow right there so fans running off the solar panel right outside here it's a 15 water [Applause] and here it is to a small 12-volt battery bypassing a solar panel for now you want to switch it over to the solar panel from the battery just hook it straight to the solar panel like this now it's on solar let's crank this thing on awesome airflow quiet fan even got the switch hooked up here and of course that's optional but use something like that for the best cooling I just freeze it in a big plastic pail [Applause] [Applause] it does work better if the ice is unenclosed but of course it's easier if you use on the plastic bottles just to throw some gallon jugs [Applause] okay that's what's left after about five hours not too much [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause]

Thing is, air cooling will never replace air conditioning. That is putting humidity into the house as it is cooling the air. Using the evaporation of ice or water has been used to cool houses since the ancient egyptians. I don't live in the south, but in dryer climates they use large scale coolers like this for buildings.

Honestly, if he is using his refrigerator in his house to make that ice, he is most likely heating up his house in the long run.

But that is one the easier designs I've seen to make and operate.

Is it lost on everyone that this is where the industry started? Why do you think a "ton" of cooling got its name?

Obviously this is a silly approach for circumstances where an air conditioner would work, but for circumstances like, say, camping in a place with no power hookups but which DOES have free/cheap ice readily available this would be a godsend.

That's awesome. Going back to the roots of air cooling. One moving part. So much better than 16 seer extreme modulation. How much would you charge to install this in my house?
