While there is a run demonstrating a shotgun, many of these are "double rifles". Most all double rifles are works of art as they have a large heritage in the wealthy and the old big game hunters. They also require fine hand-fitting to align the barrels. Here they make perfect fits by hand using candle soot to mark high points in the fit, similar to what marking blue is to a machinist.

Why are they so prominent among the most finely fitted guns? Their design is simple and reliable while allowing quick followups using large cartridges that simply aren't as feasible in semi-auto firearms. For example, the 600 Nitro Express, which is quite a handful even if you can afford ammunition which can run $180 per 5 round box.

Though there are larger caliber double rifles it is a choice caliber for hunting extremely large dangerous game.
