That have said they are covering it, they didnt get sent an early code because of the day one patch.

uh???

They said they are covering it. John just said he wasn't gonna cover it himself, because in his own words, he is biased against the series...so he doesn't think he'd be fair.

This is not my video. I just wanted to share a Digital Foundry like video to optimize the game. It has chapters and he did a great job.

Canโ€™t wait until DF exposes this shit. Thereโ€™s no way WB as a publisher or portkey canโ€™t put out a single statement acknowledging ANY issues. Thereโ€™s no way it hasnโ€™t come directly to their attention, and theyโ€™re a POS publisher so itโ€™s tough to give benefit of doubt.

RT is straight up broken in this game

Here's the DF coverage: https://youtu.be/l3FZqJXCuWQ

Not sure where you got your story about them refusing to cover it from.

foreign [Music] Legacy the open world action adventure RPG and one of the most anticipated games of this year is finally here and for all the Harry Potter fans Hogwarts Legacy represents a dream game created by Avalon software using aerial engine 4. the team managed to take full advantage of this engine and deliver one of the most gorgeous open world games but just like most other recent releases on PC this game is not perfect and there are some problems so today as usual we'll discuss these problems and we will examine each graphic session performance and visual impact so without any further Ado let's get going foreign [Music] this game suffers from fortunately the game pre-compiled its shaders which is great normally this step should only occur the first time you run the game but for whatever reason every time you run Hogwarts Legacy you'll see this step it doesn't take as long as the first time but it's still annoying in my opinion also the game does not have a true full screen mode there is only a windowed full screen which is borderless and windowed mode and this makes change in the resolution from the in-game menu impossible because the game rendered at whatever resolution your desktop is running as so in order to change the resolution you should close the game go to your desktop change the resolution of your desktop and then run the game again which is annoying and the biggest problem is the performance drops and staturing playing with a steady FPS is so hard and almost impossible the game does not check full advantage of the GPU as you can see here the GPU usage goes down to 66 percent and frequently the game out of nowhere drop FPA is so low to 15 or 20 FPS and after a while the performance recovers again there are other issues when it comes to the implementation of dlss FSR and race racing but we'll discuss those later during the upscale and RG section in the video now let's take a look at the graphics menu starting with NG aliasing the game offers three options TAA low taai and dlaa here GAA low exhibit goods and problems unlike gaai or dlaa [Music] an overall dlia looks cleaner even though all options have some shimmering problems performance was gone from GAA low to GA High drop FPS by eight percent and dlaa performs similarly to gai so here if you want to play at your native resolution I recommend dlia if you can use it and if not stick with GAA high for better motion clarity the game offers a lot of upscale Solutions like dlss FSR and xcss and even if it's R1 and NIS here I'll only focus on fsr2 and dlss because both fsr1 and NIS looks blurry and bad in general and I couldn't test xcss because they crashed the game every time I try to use it now as I said before the implementation of FSR and dlss is not great first fsr2 exhibits a lot of aliasing as you can see here with quality mode and dlss even though looks cleaner it also makes this some foliage looks flickery as you can see here if you have the choice go for the LSS but if you don't try xcss or fsr2 and don't use fsr1 or NIS [Music] next we have diptu field as usual you'll see this effect mostly during cutscenes and conversations here enabling depth to field costs around four percent so if you like this effect don't worry about performance and keep it on moving on to effects quality This One controls the density and quality of particles as you can see here and it also affects screen space Reflections when using Ultra where for some reason SSR looks worse than I now when using higher options during combat attack and produce a lot of particles and looks better but of course that comes with some performance impact because going from larger medium doesn't cost much around one or two percent to high five percent and to ultra up to 18 here I recommend medium or high material quality is next these stitching are just the Shader quality of some object surfaces like here with this statue and from what I've seen it doesn't cost anything so you can keep this one on Ultra [Music] four quality controls the quality of volumetric effects like here with these light shafts where low and medium looks unstable unlike the higher options performance wise this one doesn't cost much because going from low to medium costs nothing to high around three percent and to Ultra 5 and even in a scene with a lot of volumetric fog going from low to ultra costs 6 percent so here I recommend high or Ultra [Music] foreign determines the quality and visibility of volumetric clouds as you can see here when it comes to Performance going from low to medium costs almost nothing around one or two percent and to wire an ultra 8 here I recommend medium foliage quality does not affect long fall leaves like here but instead it changed the density of ground foliage and it's quite demanding when using higher options because going from low to medium costs three percent but too high 13 and to ultra 18 here I recommend medium but if you have enough performance to spare go for high next we have post processing This One controls more than one visual effect like Bloom as you can see here where higher options have brighter lights and it also affects the quality of screen space ambient occlusion ssao [Music] when it comes to the performance during Gameplay at this scene going from low to medium costs four percent to high nine percent and to ultra 13 here I recommend medium or high post processing foreign quality as usual controls the resolution and quality of Shadow Maps as you can see here and oddly enough shadows in this game don't cost much around five percent from low to ultra and I've checked this in different places and got the same gap between low and Ultra so here I recommend at least High Shadows [Music] here comparing the Gixxer quality options you can see that the difference between low and Ultra vrm wise is not huge so this one depends on your GPU vrm resolution and other settings and I can't recommend any options here but I think you should be fine using higher Ultra textures at 1440p with an 8 gigabyte GPU especially with dlss or FSR view distance quality controls the visibility and geometric details of distance objects as you can see here between low and Ultra when it comes to Performance going from low to medium can cost eight percent to high 10 percent but your Ultra 17 percent here I recommend medium or high and avoid low because using it can sometimes make close objects like this house here looks bad compared to medium population quality adjusts the quality and density of NPCs but here even at low the quality of characters looks good and similar to ultra and when it comes to the performance going from low to medium costs 2 percent so high would slightly increase the number of NPCs around four percent and to ultra nine percent here I recommend medium or high finally we have race racing let's start with the menu itself we have three forms of Rich racing with a chuckle on or off and we have only one options that controls all three forms of Rich racing at once which is weird and this is not the biggest problem let's see for example rage raised Reflections this one does not apply to rivers or bodies of water as you can see here it only appears on other reflexive surfaces like mirrors and here you can see the problem Archie Reflections looks pixelated on low res even on Ultra with Native resolution and performance wise going from SSR to just slow which looks worse costs 32 percent until Ultra which seal looks worse than SSR cost 42 percent on the RTX 3060gi Ray traced Shadows also exhibit similar problems here with low res and pixelated Shadows and going from regular Ultra Shadows to low RT Shadows costs almost nothing but still looks worse and to ultra-archy Shadow which looks more stable and complete costs 36 percent and the last one is Rage race ambient occlusion which does not work at all rtao similar to regular ssao have the same archifect as you can see here and there is no difference between Ultra post-processing which as we saw earlier controls ssao and rtao but performance wise using rcao cost 36 percent so in general for now I recommend turning off all form of Rage racing in this game now based on everything we saw so far these are my recommended settings let's do a quick comparison between optimized settings and Ultra preset without Ray tracing on both sides you can see here that optimized settings should give you around 66 percent more performance compared to ultra preset [Music] overall the game itself is not terrible at all what's in here gameplay story and design wise is great also visually the game looks spectacular the lighting system and GI here is one of the best I've seen in an Unreal Engine 4 title but the performance ruins the entire experience from old FPS drops to stature and issues and the bad implementation of FSR and dlss and race racing I sincerely hope that Avalanche will fix these issues in the next couple of updates and with that we arrive at the end thank you so much for watching and for your time if you enjoyed the video leave a like and if not leave a dislike don't forget to subscribe and hit the bell for any future videos and hopefully I'll see you at the next one foreign
