Jean boleya who we know today as his stage name Hulk Hogan Hulk Hogan always had an interest in wrestling but he spent his early days as a musician playing bass guitar in various rock bands around the Tampa Bay Florida area in the late 70s Hulk was performing with his band at a bar and a couple of wrestlers noticed the man on stage had a physical stature perfect for wrestling after that he was recruited into the professional wrestling world and by 1983 Hulk Hogan was signing with the WWF which is now the WWE as their quote show peace attraction he is the World Wrestling Federation heavyweight champion oh oh yeah [Applause] if you know what all the media is all about the train and the prayer of the vitamins you should have known that the holster would never sell out brother 1983 was a big year for Hulk as he also married his long-distance girlfriend of two years Linda Hogan after five years of marriage in 1988 they had their daughter Brooke Hogan and shortly after in 1990 they had their son Nick Hogan everything in the 90s was seemingly perfect for the Hogan Family Hulk had cemented himself as a worldwide wrestling Legend and took that star power to the big screen acting in various movies throughout the 90s such as suburban Commando Mr Nanny three ninjas Thunder in Paradise one two and three just to name a few who could always envisioned that as his kids would get older they would want to join in the family business and become professional wrestlers or join the professional wrestling world but Brooke Hogan had entirely different plans when Brooke was around the age of 12 or 13 years old a long time family friend Bubba notice that Brooke could really sing Bubba also known is Bubba the Love Sponge was a long time radio personality with his own radio show and due to that he was able to get Brooke connected with Lou Pearlman now this is back in the very early 2000s and at the time Lou Pearlman was huge in the music industry since he was the one behind boy bands such as Backstreet Boys and NSYNC so for Brooke this was a massive opportunity well so they thought in 2002 when Brooke was around 14 years old she was signed to Lou pearlman's record label transcontinental records and began developing an album Brook's brother Hulk was by her side every step of the way not only supporting broke but really protecting her and advocating for her wants you can really see this in the 2004 VH1 special Inside Out Hulk Hogan stage dad which Chronicles Brooke releasing her first single working with Lou Pearlman jet setting around with Aaron Carter and all under the watchful eye of her father Hulk Hogan I gotta watch my little girl Steph out the nest you know into the music business right now we are at Lou pearlman's house and I am just blown away at the very beginning is the hit smash I think that getting these big songwriters in the beginning to write songs for us and to hear what they have I think that's the most important thing this is definitely a really good song called everything to me and I think what we have to do is is tailor it to you so I just have to go in there and sing what they tell me yeah this is your song Brooke's first single Everything To Me released in July of 2004 and charted at 97 on the Billboard Hot 100. the VH1 special was being used as a promotional tool for Brooke's upcoming album titled Brooke Hogan The Voice which was set to release in September of 2004 but unfortunately the album would never see the light of day Lou Perlman was running a 300 million dollar Ponzi scheme which was one of the largest in U.S history and he was scamming the artist signed onto his label to continue this very steam Lou perlman's social misconduct and allegations of being a partner would also come out years later Lou allegedly had secret cameras hidden in his home one from the group innocence said he had a tanning bed in his house I didn't know it at the time but you take your clothes off to get into the tanning bed he was recording the whole thing this article is from 2019 and it mirrors a radio interview Brooke Hogan did in 2009 with Bubba the Love Sponge where she said that Lou Perlman had nude photographs of her in a file and keep in mind she would have been underage at that time Hulk alleged that Lou had hidden camera stashed and that they didn't find this out until after Lou was arrested now we could do a whole Deep dive on the Lou Perlman Ponzi scheme but in a nutshell he was arrested in 2007 sentenced to 25 years in prison and died in 2016 from Cardiac Arrest I was actually with Lou Pearlman in Orlando Florida when I was like 13 years old and like that was the boy band era right and we had made a whole album a really good album too and when he went to jail and all of his stuff got seized I mean back in the day it was like physical hard drives looked like VHS tapes and you know plastic CDs and just everything got seized and auctioned off so this album that I was going to come out with this label that I was signed to just like went poof Into Thin Air it was probably very devastating for a 16 year old Brooke Hogan to have the album she worked so hard on wind up being entirely scrapped but everything was about to turn around for not just Brooke but the entire Hogan family that one hour VH1 special Brooke did with her dad in 2004 was so successful that VH1 they wanted to give the Hogans their very own reality TV series and we know that Series today as Hogan knows best Hogan knows best primarily followed Brooke and Hulk Hogan but did Chronicle the entire Hogan Family the first episode opened up on Brooke wanting to go on a date with a 22 year old man when she was just 17 years old and Hulk Hogan WWE Superstar intimidating the men who wanted to date Brooke in one episode Hulk would even put like tracking devices in Brook's car they're just riding up stop it Mom oh my God no they're shorts hate to be the total hero of the house but once you're looking thin so you need to get a hold of your breath for 24 hours did you like the outfit that I had on in my bathroom that looked great as long as your stomach's not full of a Burger King if you're too fat if you're too skinny they notice everything meanwhile Nick Hogan the younger sibling had pretty much free reign to do whatever he wanted both Nick and Brooke would even drop out of high school in order to film for Hogan knows best and eventually would get their geds Hoku knows best premiered in 2005 and at the time was the highest rated Series in VH1's history some jabroni just asked my daughter on a date that would be awesome do you remember Adam no she's not going out with it not as long as my name's Hulk Hogan some cocky college kid he's 22 and you're a child that's against the law I want to talk to him yeah Brook's not ready have you had like an ace test yeah negative I got the GPS up and running what is this we're tracking books off are you kidding me [Music] the success of the show helped Brooke to continue on her path of becoming a pop star in 2006 she was signed on with Sobe entertainment and she began working on an entirely new album at the Hit Factory in Miami Linda and Hulk they wanted nothing more than to help their daughter achieve her goal of stardom they would invest millions of their own money into their daughter and they were very Hands-On even helping to manage her career but Linda and Holt would begin to butt heads over Brooke's career Hulk wanted to give more freedom to Brooke to choose her single and things like that and Linda was seemingly more controlling which caused these arguments the stress of Fame managing Brooke and having cameras in their home was causing some major stress on their marriage in 2006. there is a Howard Stern interview from this time which was pretty disgusting just due to the way Brooke was spoken to about her body you are you are turning into quite the young lady thank you and you still claim you're a virgin yes oh please what good luck with a body like that honey it's that you're you're a young lady who's built for I'm sorry Hulk I've been performing from Howard Stern right now let me tell you your future husband that's right performing in front of the president I would love to take your virginity she's the right height but also this interview really showcased how bad things had gotten between Hulk and Linda and even predicted what was to come next for the Hogans I'm way attracted to Linda right she is not a problem mean is a snake to me I feel there's going to be a divorce Linda doesn't care you just when you're stuffed in a house all week with your family and you work with your family and you're in the house all together with cameras and then on the weekends we do everything together like nobody really gets their space so especially so you're the one who wants out of the matter forget the show oh no yes you do maybe you want to go out and bang something no I don't know that Julie is not really in my heart despite the family turmoil that was brewing behind the scenes Brooke was able to Premiere her new single titled about us which featured Paul Wall on the season two finale of Hogan knows best the battles was played all over the radio reaching 33 on the Billboard Hot 100 Brooks debut album titled undiscovered released in October of 2006 and did decently well charting at number 28 and number one on the independent album chart [Music] when daddy's humming you the baddest [Music] [Music] [Music] check out okay laughs the third season of Poconos best would also begin airing in October of 2006. the very first episode of season three would show the Hogan family all moving from Clearwater Florida to Miami in support of Brooke's music career however the initial Buzz around Brooke's debut album began to fizzle out and stop being played on the radio Brooke also wasn't very happy with the album overall she didn't fully feel like it showcased her as an artist she even considered splitting with record label Sobe entertainment and said she felt controlled by producer Scott Storage [Music] Hearts now Scott Storage has produced for massive artists such as Beyonce 50 Cent and Dr Dre so you would think Brooke's album had a shot of being a massive success considering the team around her and the promotion from VH1 this week on Hogan knows best Brooke goes all out to promote her music Brooke Hogan is in the house this is a really big show for you yes it is which pushes everyone into overdrive I'm not going to beg you anymore I don't care but can there be such a thing as too much exposure Dad they offered me the cover in an eight-page spread but that just didn't happen the record label even considered re-releasing the album but by summer of 2007 Brook Hogan had parted ways with Scott Storch in an interview Scott Storch opened up about producing Brooke's album undiscovered and said he felt pressured to work with Brooke because of Hulk Hogan he also said at the time of making Brook's album he was struggling with substance abuse saying quote I love Brooke but I did that because her father was putting all sorts of pressure on me sure it was fun but the thing is I didn't make one good bit of music when I was high on not one bit at this point Brooke was ready to start completely over and redeem herself with a new album that would fully reflect who she was but she would run into another roadblock her family life started to spiral out of control right in the public eye season four of Hogan knows best started airing in July of 2007 and pretty much opened up on Hulk and Linda seriously considering divorce well you wouldn't be how do you know because he's the love of your life some arguments have been so intense that Linda has verbally suggested maybe we should go our separate ways or maybe you should get a lawyer and maybe we should just be divorced just one month later on August 26 2007 Nick Hogan who was 17 at the time was spotted racing his yellow Toyota Supra in Clearwater Florida when he lost control of his vehicle slamming straight into a palm tree police are investigating a horrific car accident Clearwater Florida involving pro wrestler Hulk Hogan's son seventeen-year-old Nick Hogan released from the hospital today police say Hogan was driving at a high rate of speed before the crash in both he and a passenger had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital the passenger remains in critical condition the big question about this car accident was racing involved it's no secret that Nick Hogan whose legal name is Nick boleya is into drag racing there are dozens of videos on YouTube of the 17 year old drifting on tracks in souped-up cars now BJ from BJ investigates and I fully covered car accident the subsequent lawsuits and how it even was a catalyst and murder For Hire case on our new channel study break so be sure to check that one out for all of the details sales now remember Nick Hogan was virtually allowed to do whatever he wanted without consequence leading up to this accident he had been caught driving recklessly more than once and was ticketed numerous times for speeding well above the speed limits but despite all of that he still had access to Hulk's luxury Vehicles this accident made headlines everywhere as the passenger Nick's car John Graziano he suffered a severe brain injury requiring him to need 24 7 care for the rest of his life Nick was inevitably charged with reckless driving involving bodily injury and was sentenced to eight months in Pinellas County Jail five years probation and his license was suspended for three years the Hogans would get an even more hot water when tapes of Nick's jail conversations with his father Hulk were released to the public the tapes were pretty terrible and showed Nick trying to get a reality show right out of jail and both Hulk and Nick displaying very little empathy for John Graziano who suffered the most from the accident well I don't know what type of person John was or what he did to get himself the situation I know he was pretty aggressive and used to yell at people and used to do stuff for some for some reason man God made some heavy a kid man I don't know what he was into a pretty good in person he was what he was a negative person will you work on that real ality deal yep for me get that thing lined up so the minute I walk out of wherever I walk out of there soon can you do a lawyer on probation yeah of course the new Nick we'd call it the new Nick or something [Music] how I'm getting back on my feet and uh I'm recovering after this celebrity out of jail today is the big day Sean Graziano was released this morning from the James a Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa father this day did happen against what everybody thought right now he's high-end minimally conscious moving towards emerging so with a lot more Rehabilitation and all the new things that are coming out that are available we'll just see how far he goes life has changed dramatically I am you know I think cautiously about every decision I make now you know that's because in the sad decision friend 9 [Music] accidents yeah it just it was race then they were racing it was too far as drag racing the car was was completely out of control it was it was beyond anything that I could do to recover it Hogan crashed head on into a palm tree his famous dad just happened to drive by the crash site and recognized his son's car and the lesson got even harder when 36 hours of phone conversations between Hogan and his parents were released after a reporter made a public records request now this was all happening while the Hogan family had already began filming for their fifth season but VH1 was considering canceling the show due to all the bad press and legal troubles the Hogans were experiencing but Nick's accident was not the final nail in the reality show coffin during this round of filming for Hogan knows best Hulk Hogan began having an affair with Christian plant what makes it even more terrible is that Christiane worked directly with Brooke and was one of her closest friends Linda found out about the affair and after 24 years of marriage she secretly filed for divorce in November of 2007. Hulk Hogan found out his marriage was over with the rest of the world when the news broke and with that Hogan knows best was officially canceled and season five was scrapped in early 2008 Christian plant who was 33 years old she did an interview with the national choir basically stating that at the time Hulk and Linda were already privately separated but that she knows in the end it was wrong because she hurt Brooke Brooke responded to this interview on MySpace basically saying that she may find it in her heart to forgive her father and Christiane one day but she will never forget the hurt that they caused now if you think the Scandal stops here it doesn't this is quite literally just the beginning months after filing for divorce Linda who is 48 years old breaks headlines for dating a 19 year old named Charlie Hill Charlie quite literally went to the same high school with her kids and was even a grade under Brook Linda's new relationship moves pretty quickly and all of a sudden Charlie is living in the family home he's working out in Hulk's gym driving Hulk's cars all while Linda and Hulk are battling it out over assets in divorce court Charlie would even get involved by filing for a restraining order against Hulk Hogan which was denied by a Florida court and I would never ask her to pick anybody you know just because I love her I would never want her to pick you know her lover over her kids or whatever just because I wanted to be happy but you know when she really is like putting that before her children and before her family and why does she like Charlie Summers that she's blowing off her own kids I don't know if if Charlie was older you wouldn't have as much of a problem probably well no I couldn't even get past he was more mature more mature not even that I I mean I don't think it's right but I'm not you know nailing her to the Cross because of the age I'm pissed because he's trying to put my dad in jail no and he's just a user and a tool and I I'm mad at her because I can't believe she can't see through it why is he trying to how is he trying to put your dad in jail he was he was I don't even know if I'm supposed to talk about this but he was filing false emotions against my dad like saying oh Hulk's following me so then he'd file a motion or whatever so that if he even saw my dad down the street he could be like Hulk's following me again and then my dad get put in jail the saddest part of all of this was that Brooke was in the middle of a family who at the time were all making very poor decisions and all of this was impacting her she had to deal with the emotional turmoil of her family splitting up and her brother in jail but also this was destroying her career she had been working hard for years to make it in the music industry and her family's bad press got the very show that was promoting her music canceled but there was still some hope VH1 approached Brooke and offered her her very own spin-off show titled Brook knows best this new show would still Chronicle Brooke as she develops her album but this time she would be living it up on her own in a penthouse with two of her besties in South Beach Florida you would see her struggle with forgiving her mom meeting Hulk's new younger girlfriend and seeing her brother for the first time out of jail [Music] it's been a rough year for me Hulk is speaking out on his estranged wife's reported flick my family's been torn apart it's just sickening my mom's dating a 19 year old I have been busy starting this blossoming relationship the whole thing Charlie the summer of 2008 but as the first season was airing Hulk and Linda's divorce was becoming more and more bitter Hulk Hogan and uh Linda Hogan's uh divorce lawyer got into a little fight listen to me are you gonna wrestle with me here are you going to come across the cameras and be quiet be quiet be quiet be quiet you had your time to talk in early 2009 Hulk did a three-day long interview for a Rolling Stone magazine and about a week before the magazine hit stands a quote from the article began circulating where Hulk allegedly said I totally understand OJ I get it now this went completely viral at the time Linda's spokesperson said that Hulk's statement amounts to a death threat and her attorney is weighing all options necessary to protect his client hope did respond to the comment he made in a radio interview basically saying that the quote was taken out of context I thought it's possible I don't want to be a Nicole Simpson situation I don't know if he could go there or not are you violent outside of the ring at all no and not in the home no I'm not I mean when we were going through divorce and she was with her 18 year old boyfriend if I even was in the same town with her she would file charges and I looked at her the wrong way at a red light and one that had me put in jail so if I for 23 years why didn't we talk about this as divorce well all of a sudden is it coming out now when her books come out so it's the whole thing is just so crazy it would also be alleged during the divorce proceedings that Linda Hogan was taking part in various substances while headline after headline was being released about the divorce Brooke Hogan was embarking on promotion for the second season of Brook knows best and her upcoming album titled Redemption during an interview for the promotion of her album Brooke was asked if her mom is taking illicit substances well Brooke answered honestly stating that she didn't know and she had not personally seen her mom taking any drugs this interview with Brooke upset Linda Hogan so much so that she would issue escaping public statement to Perez Hilton now this is a longish statement but essentially Linda told Perez that if Brooke doesn't stop lying Linda's boyfriend Charlie will be forced to put aside his paramedic career path and release an album called Redemption which would easily surpass any of Brooke's record sales Linda then tried to expose her daughter for having breast implants and then told the entire world that Brooke was having intimate relations with her then boyfriend stack what's weird is your mom now attacked you I mean you never do that with a kid my whole childhood I was scared to death of lying of disappointing my parents I always did my homework I wasn't sleeping around I wasn't doing drugs I was a good kid like I never talked back scared to death you know so when she puts this out it really just was like why was I good all those years why why would she do this to me a mother isn't supposed to issue a press release that her daughter has fake breasts Brooke's album Redemption was quite literally set to come out within weeks and yet again her album was being completely overshadowed by the Hogan family drama right before Redemption was released Brooke dropped a mixtape called Judgment Day which had a song titled you're not that hot now this song was a diss track on the hill star Heidi Montag the song even opened up with a fake voicemail from Heidi hey Brooke what's up is wait for Spencer bye now I searched the internet to figure out why Heidi Montag and Brooke Hogan would be feuding back in 2009 but all I could find was a MySpace post made by Brooke saying check out my new disc record why because I can I'm so sick of people who use me and my family people with no Talent calling people out who work harder than them now Spencer Pratt Heidi's husband he did respond to MTV and all he said was is that the wrestler's daughter if so Spidey will be praying for her and her family the Redemption was released right after this but unfortunately the album pretty much tanked immediately it debuted at 144 on the billboard 200 but only sold 3 381 copies in its first week from this point everything would seemingly come crashing down Brooke was dropped from her record label and VH1 chose not to renew Brook knows best for a third season also around this time Hulk and Linda finally came to a settlement agreement in regard to the divorce Linda received 70 of the liquid assets so basically what was in the bank forty percent of Hulk's companies a three million dollar property settlement and quite a few of the luxury Vehicles Linda would also get engaged to her boyfriend Charlie while all of this was going down how are your finances now you're getting better yeah yeah I'm living in a rental house would you call yourself rich would you call yourself no no no no I'm I'm living in abundance so it's not like what it was no no no but I'm happy now so money can't buy you happiness it helps it helps get through the day it helps make things easier but it's got nothing to do with being happy fast forward to December of 2010 Hulk Hogan with girlfriend of two years Jennifer McDaniel and for once the Hogan family drama seemed to be calming down Brooke even joined in the wrestling family business which was something she said she would never do name in wrestling is about to make a brand new impact what you gonna do when I run wild on you entered legendary father as impact kicks off its live summer bash the drama for the Hogan family would ramp up again in 2012. Linda Hogan made headlines again for going on the reality show couples therapy with fiance Charlie to try to salvage their relationship shortly after Hulk would then make headlines as an explicit tape of Hulk Hogan having relations with his best friend's wife would be leaked online by Gawker the best friend in question is a long time family friend Bubba the Love Sponge now upon the release of the tape it appeared that Hulk had cheated on his new wife Jennifer and had betrayed his best friend Bubba but that actually wasn't the case see this tape was actually filmed back in 2007. Polk had been staying with Bubba after Linda filed for divorce Hulk was mentally in a very bad space and had publicly stated he was very close to harming himself Bubba said he wanted to cheer Hulk up so he told his then wife Heather Clem to sleep with Hulk What hulk didn't know was that there was a security camera in the bedroom filming the entire encounter now this next part wasn't really in news articles this is all according to an interview with baba baba said he saved the footage on a DVD titled Hogan and put it in the top drawer of his desk and that's where the tape lived for years until one day an employee who was on their way out took that tape and tried shopping it around in Hollywood these types of tapes need consent forms contracts and there's just a lot that goes into being able to release them legally because there was no consent and Hulk didn't even know the tape existed this ex-employee of Baba could not find a buyer for the tape according to Bubba there was even a point where the FBI was involved but what they don't know is that Hogan and David Houston called the FBI and said we're being extorted they want a million dollars for the text tape that for Hogan to buy back so that it doesn't get out now that was true somebody did try to extort it for a million true it's and it's and it was an FBI sting that's been fully documented video they haven't like recorded him actually saying that yes also on this tape which makes Bubba look very bad after Hulk leaves the room Bubba comes in and he tells his then wife Heather quote if we ever did want to retire all we would have to do is use this footage Hulk was Furious he filed a lawsuit against Bubba the Love Sponge and another lawsuit against Gawker for invasion of privacy now Hulk did settle the lawsuit against Bubba after Bubba made a public apology to Hulk as Hulk was fighting the lawsuit with Gawker a transcript from the explicit tape would be published by a tabloid and it was of Hulk going on a tirade using racial slurs that were aimed towards Brooke Hogan's then boyfriend Stacks shortly after the WWE put out a statement saying they have terminated their relationship with Hulk out of everything that I've been through this one hit me probably the hardest and that's a heck of the thing to say is it fair to say that you inherited a racial bias I would say that is very fair but you can break the cycle and that's what everybody needs to know you can break this cycle and become a better person become who you're meant to be instead of who you're supposed to be even Hogan's daughter Brooke chimes in your daughter posted a beautiful poem on Facebook if you knew the dad I knew you'd know he raised me well he taught me folks are so much more than Shades could ever tell yeah and if anybody sure that the song it should have been her fast forward to 2016 Hulk Hogan would win his lawsuit against Gawker he was awarded a 115 million dollars in Damages now Gawker went bankrupt because of this shoe and they could not pay that amount however they were able to come to a settlement and Hulk still did receive 31 million dollars from the suit Hulk is getting money for a tape he made while you were married to him do you feel like you're entitled to some of that money I don't need that I've I ended up with an okay settlement and I'm fine I'm all right to have that kind of a windfall of cash for something that you did that was just so seedy um it's it's bothersome to me I wouldn't want to share any of that during all of this continued family turmoil Brooke Hogan would move to Nashville to start life completely over she decided that she didn't want to wallow in her misery so she got a job working at the JW Marriott as a waitress and cocktail server plus I always say everybody should work in this service industry because you don't realize that like you're going to dinner and you're treating your server snotty and they're like probably making more money than you are I want to know what people's reaction was like when you come over to serve them and they're like the hell is Brooke Hogan doing here again what are you doing here and I'm like I just am normal and past and will always be music Brooks pass music does have a cult following but she was never able to release albums without Hogan family drama getting in the way it's almost like a Hogan family curse at this point hopefully if Brooke ever decides to release me music she can break that curse and finally for once have the spotlight just on her does it take to get my heart [Music]
