why do i also put my hair back with a makeup brush but you know that's what makes me rare is it where where is it infused why not no i think that was a mistake i think it was a mistake oh my god heaven hallowed be hey guys today is probably the most excited i've been to film a makeup video in a long while i could not wait to play with this whole entire collection today is all about the new brand from selena gomez called rare beauty if you have not heard of rare beauty i'm surprised because this has sort of blown up in the makeup world at first it was getting some negative reactions because people were like oh my god another celebrity makeup brand and i sort of felt similar in that it just does sometimes feel like so many are launching and it's every other day it's like this person's new brand this person's new brand but at the same time if it's gonna be good i don't really care rare beauty feels different in that it feels like a more natural focused everyday not so glam but more like that soft natural ethereal beauty that i feel like a lot of people are gearing towards so i feel like this is launching at the right time and because it's not called selena gomez beauty i think that was a really good choice on their part you know i mean to keep it as its own brand it's rare beauty and i really like the name i like the way the branding looks so far i have the entire collection right here i received the pr kit which i was really excited about i have not watched any videos on this yet i haven't watched any reviews i have seen a lot of positive things about it though on just like twitter and stuff and scrolling around people were really liking it and they did launch with a ton of different products so i'm just gonna jump in see what's in here i haven't opened this box yet and we're gonna play with some makeup together i'm so excited so if you guys are excited for this video give it a thumbs up subscribe to my youtube channel and let's play with rare beauty i think the thing that intrigues me the most about this collection so far from what i have seen about it on the internet is that it's very very cream focused it seems like most if not all of the products are a cream based formula or liquid which i think is really unique for a brand to launch with just like mostly cream liquid products i feel like most brands gear towards powders because they're way more common but i feel like we are in that sort of time where people are shifting away from powders and wanting that more natural cream look i.e like the glossier vibe or like now morphe 2 which i got that would you guys be interested in seeing a review on morphe 2 i didn't know how anyone felt about it morphe is one of those like very widely loved and or hated brands okay so here is the little booklet that came with it she looks absolutely beautiful welcome to rare beauty it takes courage to put yourself out there as a creator it's constantly being vulnerable and i admire that the rare beauty community is full of unique voices lives and stories i created rare beauty to break down unrealistic standards of perfection i strongly believe that you are not meant to look like everyone else and that is what makes you rare whether you enjoy putting on a full face or just want to play around and feel creative or wear barely any makeup at all this is makeup made to feel good in without hiding what makes you unique i can't wait to see how everyone uses these products make sure to tag rare routine so we can repost your looks a quote from selena i get it all day every day beautiful please do not forget that even when it gets hard we've got a liquid touch weightless foundation which i have heard nothing but good things about and it comes in 48 shades launching with 48 shades is a huge huge win it's amazing when i see brands do this and for her to do this was a very very smart move launching with like 12 shades is automatically setting you up for criticism and failure and rightfully so so i'm really glad to see that it's a nice balanced shade range and very many shades to launch with which is awesome liquid touch brightening concealer the foundation's 29 liquid touch brightening concealer is 19. always an optimus illuminating primer 26. i will be using the primer today always an optimist four in one mist 24. blot and glow touch-up kit 26. that's like a blotting powder i've never really used blotting powder before perfect strokes matte liquid liner 19. brow harmony pencil and gel 22 dollars wow there's like a full full full face in here with gratitude dewy lip balm 16 positive light liquid luminizer 22 soft pinch liquid blush twenty dollars lip souffle matte lip cream twenty dollars liquid touch foundation brush 28 liquid touch multitasking sponge 14 liquid touch concealer brush 16. wow they really really did it i mean this is a huge big big big launch so i'm really impressed with this let's look and see what we've got it pulled some of the sponge off it was like glued into the kit and so when you pull it off there's like a hole in the sponge now i like the vibe of the brand it feels very very 20 20 to me i don't know if you guys are great so the sponge got pretty big i will say if you look at the sponge i don't know if you can tell but it's very porous it's not one of those that like is a soft looking like not microfiber but like beauty blender-esque sponge like it's kind of more textured all right so i'm going to start off with the primer i'm going to pull my hair back so i know it drives half of you if not 75 of you absolutely nuts when i don't why do i also put my hair back with a makeup brush but you know that's what makes me rare is it so i'm going to start off with the primer and this is the illuminating primer base i typically don't use primers i usually just do like a good moisturizer but i want to you know test out these products today and give you guys a full run through of everything so i'll let you know packaging is really nice it feels very nice and sturdy it's not anything too much it feels very clean very fresh here's what the illuminating primer looks like when i spray it on my hand it does look like it's going to be shiny like it has a pearl finish to it so i don't know if that's something you're interested in but i will put it on and see what it does i would say completely unscented i don't feel like i smell any scent in this at all it doesn't seem like it has an artificial fragrance added which i appreciate does seem illuminating it's like putting one pump of the huda beauty like body shimmer face shimmer stuff into a bunch of moisturizer so it does have that pearlized finish but also does feel moisturizing it doesn't feel like you're just putting a face shimmer on it feels nice and hydrating kind of tacky and then i'm gonna look at the foundation shades and see what we've got going on here they sent three w that's a warm this one is 200c i'm going to say that's going to be a little too dark and then this one here is 180w by the way this is what the packaging looks like here i really like it it's very simplistic unscented as well just awesome i like this kind of applicator as well [Music] i don't know what to do i think i'm gonna go with 190w because i am a little bit self-tanned i'm gonna use that second one if it looks bad though i'll switch back and i'm gonna use the sponge [Music] i don't know if is this supposed to be full coverage let me see oh made in canada let me see what this says as far as the foundation is concerned a foundation elixir that feels barely there while building coverage and boosting your natural glow okay oh it says shake before use which i did not do oh got a little shaky in there i will try it with the foundation sponge but i will also try it with a brush just for anybody that typically uses a brush which i'm gonna say i'm about 50 50. i'll do the right side of my face with a sponge so you guys can see since i already started here i can say off the bat right putting it on i kind of like the finish of it it looks kind of natural and skin like it doesn't look too full coverage but it definitely has a good level of coverage i would call this like a solid high medium know if i like the feeling of this sponge if i'm being honest it's a little bit icky feeling to me because it almost feels like um dry crunchy i i can't really explain it but because it's not that soft beauty blender feeling it doesn't have like a luxurious feeling to me on my skin it almost feels like using a washcloth or something i can't really explain it although it's performing nicely you know let's try a brush on the other side and see what that's like i'm gonna use my ecotools base buffer brush i've been liking this lately and by the way i did end up using the shade 190. i feel like it's a tad bit yellowy for me but everything they sent is a warm let's try that amount there yeah the foundation smells like just the ingredients mixed together it doesn't have any sort of artificial scent [Music] whatsoever i like the way this foundation is looking on the skin it's a little fuller coverage than i was almost expecting so you may just want to use a little bit less of it but it is really looking nice i don't know if this color match was absolutely right for me or not but you know you just just work with what you have and typically when you get down to the end of a full face you don't even notice i think the one thing missing from this collection to make it a full face would be bronzer from what i'm seeing here hmm yeah i do feel like that's the one thing so maybe a liquid bronzer in the future would be really cool all right let's see the comparison between the brush and the sponge i'm gonna say either works i feel like i got a little weirdly lighter coverage with the brush side maybe i just used a little less product i'm just going to take my sponge and kind of go over it just to make sure that both sides are looking similar but i feel like it evened everything out really nicely we'll see how it wears throughout the day turn the lights down so you can see but you can still see like skin coming through i feel like it looks nice and like hydrated it doesn't look super dry but it doesn't also look too dewy which i can have with some foundations i think specifically the fenty uh hydrating foundation is so dewy on me that it's too dewy which it's hard for me to even admit that because that's like never the case but it just is so dewy same with the anastasia beverly hills like illuminating foundation or whatever it was called way too way too dewy i feel like this looks pretty good i could use a little more right there my nose crack is always a little baby back bit all right so that's the skin and i feel like right now i like the way that it looks i don't have any issues with it i also have three different concealers to choose from these are the shades right here i've got 180w 200c and 190w i think i'm going to match it and go with 190w because that's the foundation that i went with and the bottle of the concealer the packaging instead of being like a perfectly round guy it's kind of more m m shaped looks cute i'm not going to overdo it with concealer either i'm just going to do a little dot here here this does have a point on it so you definitely can get in yeah this sponge is a no for me i'm going to just say it i feel like it could be better my nose is looking a little bit dry i don't think it's the foundation but it's almost like i didn't moisturize good enough which i probably didn't because i just used the primer having a hard time finding words and so i didn't maybe moisturize my face as good as i could i did exfoliate this morning so that should be okay but i do feel like my nose is looking a little extra dry so that's something to keep in mind there's a brush on this side i'm gonna say i like the the finish of a sponge better but i'm not gonna recommend this sponge i would recommend like the flower beauty sponge the colourpop sponges are nice beauty blender in general is nice this one i don't like the texture of i wouldn't reach for it again but i will say that the finish of the sponge side is just looking a little bit nicer but overall still looks good after the foundation is sitting on my skin for a minute and maybe i just applied too much it's looking a little bit cakey i'm gonna turn the lights down a little bit so you can see what i'm talking about oh wrong way turn them down good so before it's just looking a little bit makeupy it's not bad but it's not my favorite and once the rest of the faces on it's probably gonna get better so i'm gonna move on to the other products that we have in here so we've got four different blushes and i'm gonna show you what we've got here so these are all of the blush colors i am naturally gearing towards this one immediately which is the shade bliss that is so pretty uh this one is also extremely beautiful this is joy i always gravitate towards more peachy blushes we've got two pink ones as well this one right here is grace and then we've got this one which is happy i think i'm gonna do like a little combo of these two but this is the one i'm gearing most towards again that's bliss so i'm gonna open that this has the same exact applicator as the concealer whoa it's whippier than i thought it's like thicker let me try spongy with this guy [Music] did i apply too much yes i can remedy that though i think like that it's more pigmented than i thought i thought that it was going to be a little more sheer add a little bit of that to the tip of my nose just to add some color in maybe a little up here so i was gonna go in with this blush but i feel like for me that's just gonna be a little too vibrant i feel like this is plenty of blush for my face but it is cool because i feel like these will work on a variety of skin tones this is really more pigmented than i initially thought it was going to be oh i forgot there was brushes whoops so then we have liquid highlighters as well and these are really beautiful i think i'll swatch all of these i think you guys would probably really want to see that here are the four liquid highlighters and i will swatch them all on my arm for you this is the shade enlighten [Music] that's really pretty it's probably gonna be the one that i kind of go in with this is the shade enchant whoa this one's beautiful this is mesmerized wow these are really pretty they're thin too they don't feel like at all sort of like that chunky thick whipped feeling they're nice and thin i feel like they'll blend out really nice this is the shade out shine oh that really pretty gold all right i feel like i'm feeling out shine mixed with a little bit of that initial shade which was enlightened mix them a little bit i think i'll try starting with just this one so we can see what it looks like alone okay i took this a little bit too high up into my eye bag arena it's very minimal it's not as much as i thought it was going to be i do this one with my finger just to see what it looks like okay i feel like i prefer the application with my finger better because i didn't take it up too high but it is very subtle i don't know if you can tell very very very subtle even though it looks kind of like intense when you just first put it on i think i'm gonna mix a little bit of this gold in with it so that i can get a little less iciness and a little more like warmth [Music] okay so here's what we're looking at as far as the illuminator is concerned i feel like it's pretty very subtle not too shimmery at all so if you're wanting more of that like natural pearlescent lip from within style that doesn't look overkill you might really like this for me it's not that i don't it's that i typically like a little more oomph i think i'm gonna mix those shades on the back of my hand since i just have them there already i'm just gonna kind of do a little over over spray i feel like it's a very very very very natural finish and it is really pretty i'm not like blown away but i like how much easier this is to work with than something like the cover fx drops which sometimes can like kind of create like a little bit of a stripe where you're like oh you feel like you have to work really fast and they can sometimes disturb the foundation underneath i really don't feel like this is disturbing that at all so i feel like it is pretty let me turn the lights down a little bit see [Music] i want to do a little bit of it on my nose like i typically would do highlighter oh i the lights are still turning down okay my thoughts on this aren't as they're not as i'm gonna give it a little bit more time i'm putting so much highlighter on my nose because i feel like i need to match the colors that i put on my face and i just use that one i will say i typically put highlighter on my nose but it's definitely disturbing the foundation on my nose so that's something to keep in mind and i don't know if this is something that i should have like is this something i should have kept more just towards the cheeks and then use like my other highlighter on the on my nose you know probably okay i'm gonna do my brows real quick so that i can look human i feel like right now i'm looking a little okay so they sent the shade warm brown and this is the brow harmony oh i typically don't really like pencils like this you have to judge if you like them they're more like the brow definer from anastasia i like mine to be that like really fine tip like the brow wiz or like the covergirl pencil or the nyx pencil this one's a lot more wide of a tip so i think it's definitely still usable no questions asked but this isn't the type of brow pencil that i typically gear towards i feel like they're a little thick for me you know sometimes i struggle a little bit i also naturally gear towards cooler tones for my eyebrows because sometimes i feel like they can look a little too warm man i will say i'm not downing on any of this right now but i did expect to like things a lot more than i am i feel like the things that i'm trying are good but they're not like great like they they are for a very specific number of people but for me i don't know if i'm one of those people i like certain of these products and i definitely want to continue trying them because the first impression is just that it's a first impression you're not going to get a full grasp on how you like things until you really give it another go how you see it prepared with other makeup that you like because the thing is is i am doing a full face of rare beauty right now but that's not typically how i would realistically do my makeup i would typically pair it with other products that i like to get the full face that i want and love you know what i mean so i would naturally use my hourglass bronzer with this and i think i still will right now as a full face i feel like the products together aren't giving me exactly what i like and need as far as a full face is concerned and not in like a bad way just in like a oh god see what i'm talking about it's just not really thin enough for me to feel like i can get precision lines i feel like i'm getting those huge chunky brows that aren't really my thing but i think you guys know what i mean like it's it's not that these products aren't good it's just that i wouldn't naturally just use all of these together and nothing else you know so this is the like brow gel that comes on the other side selena's brows look absolutely amazing in this promo photo oh it's too dark i like the way that this product is like separating out my brows but yeah i think we can see it's just too much pigment i it's like i [Applause] i wasn't expecting things to go in this way try to fix this somehow i'm having the issue of i need a spoolie and i can't find a spoolie my brows look like absolute dog hang on see it just like went on way too heavy i feel like it's pushing my brow hairs up a lot but it's looking like a lot on me this is not a color i would go with i would go with a way cooler tone i prefer like a clear brow gel i think because this is just a little too pigmented for me why am i having a hard time with this i've heard nothing but good things see and that's what makes me feel like sometimes i'm like doing it wrong or like i don't know these brows are horrifying i this one t-hideous okay let's take a little bit of that concealer on like a this brush actually that's in my hair i'll work for this take a little bit of the concealer on this brush and just like clean up my brows a little bit because right now they're looking very unkempt and i am not liking it at all this isn't a step that i typically need to take with my brows so this is actually more work for me if it's a thinner pencil and i have more control over it i feel like i don't have to go in with the second step of like cleaning up my brows with concealer so that's one thing to keep in mind for me i'm gonna already go on out to say that i would pass on the brow product for myself personally because it is not the type that i like but if you like those like brow definer-esque products you might like this there are no eyeshadows in this collection which i'm fine with because i have way too many eyeshadows i'm gonna set things a little bit with this blot oh it's blotting sheets is there no powder oh what wait is there no powder i'm confused powder infused puff a refillable compact containing oil absorbing papers and a radiant powder infused puff for each easy touch-ups on the go okay so i guess the puff is infused with powder how the hell does that work where where is it infused what no i like the packaging of it but infused it doesn't feel infused am i am i dumb okay i'm gonna use one of these brushes i'm gonna use this one right here for bronzer and everything because i'm going to use a little bit of bronzer i feel like my face is looking very drab and it needs a little bit more and so i'm going to use this one here rare beauty it doesn't have like a name on it it's kind of dense and short bristles very very soft i feel like i should go in with a cream product with it i think i'm going to use it with my fenty butter biscuit i'm going to dip into that since everything else is cream we might as well keep it cohesive i like that sort of removing the foundation or is that adding on top um this side looks like it's adding on top the other side looked like it was kind of picking up the product below and i can say that because it looks like my skin was getting kind of pinkish red instead of like adding on this bronzy top coat it's very dense brush like it's not flimsy at all there's no mascara in here so i think what i should do is keep my eyes natural the way that they are and throw a mascara on so i'm going to do that real quick but it's not going to be rare beauty so i'm just gonna throw on like my covergirl exhibitionist mascara um in the waterproof version and curl my lashes real quick and then we can move on to the lips which i feel like are the next steps so i will be right back okay so lashes are done and i feel like the face is looking more put together now i feel like it could even go for a little bit more blush weirdly um because i was saying earlier that i didn't want to so i'm going to take a little bit of this shade because i hadn't tried this one yet and it looks really pretty and this is the shade joy it's kind of this like orangey coraly shade i'm just gonna take like oh it's so bright okay very bright oh i think that was a mistake i think it was a mistake oh my god in heaven hallowed bee oh my god okay absolutely not the face was looking perfectly great until i just did that oh my god why are these so pigmented so if you have deeper complexion 100 if you are my skin tone or lighter um i'm gonna say like take it mix it with some moisturizer then take half of that and then try that because look how dumb this looks now everything was looking so nice and then i just royally it up now you take some extra of that and put it on the other side just the excess on here because i need to like even this out even the excess is too much not too much that looks actually kind of nice damn it all to heck i'm gonna take a little bit of the concealer put it on my hand and like try to tone that down because that looks so dumb all right well we have tested product today okay that's one thing i can say we've tested it and now i know what to tell you okay that's looking better it's toned down shoot it was looking so nice you know that's the curse of makeup you're like just a little bit more and then you're like okay so we're gonna go on to lips now and there are like these matte lip whip kind of products that came like this and then there are also some lip balms see here i'm gonna try one of the lip balms just to see because i think i'd end up going with the other product oh comfortable very very glidy very glidey this is the shade praise oh very light scent but very pleasant scent i can't even put my finger on what that is i like that scent a lot i don't know what it is it oh and these are like magnetic look oh that's nice and it's got like a flat back and a rounded front these are nice i like the shape of these scent wise i cannot place it but it's very pleasant oh baby just moved this is the shade blessed okay so they definitely have pigment but they're not like overly pigmented you can see they're like like a softer color we've got this one here which is thankful this is the shade let me see so they're very like comfortable almost coconut oily feeling i'm not calling them coconut oil i'm just saying like they have a coconut oily like how they glide super easily kind of like that oh and this one's like a clear clearish color so if you're just wanting a balm oh that's nice i will say that these packagings because they are like this color and texture you can see that i had like a little foundation on my fingers and it like messed up the i mean it's easy to clean off but that's something to keep in mind that it could kind of start to looking kind of icky if you have dirty hands for some reason i'm really gearing towards this shade today just because the rest of my face is so muted that i kind of want to try this one this is the shade heroic this isn't the shade that i would typically go for i want to take a little bit there and like pat it out but because the face is so natural you can get away with a little bit more of a bold lip what is that coconut the coconut i can't tell it's really pleasant the smell of this is really really pleasant i also have to say i'll hold this up so i don't have to pull out each individual color but i really love how the tubes are the color inside that makes it so unbelievably easy to grab the color that you want without having to pull it out and open it like mac lipsticks could not be worse because you have to open them to see what they are these you just you know what color you're grabbing i'm kind of doing that like blotted lip look you know because these are like that sort of matte finish it's easy enough to get that they're comfortable though they're not like a liquid lipstick where they feel like drying at all like i would not go that far at all it feels very soft i'm gonna take a little bit of that cleary shade the balm and put it over the top to see how this adds a shine i will say though as nice as this packaging is look how it clicks on it doesn't snap together so this could easily i feel like fall off in your purse because it's just very like loosely on here it's not like a super strong magnet okay now i think i'm gonna use the spray oh this one's made in korea everything's kind of made in different places this is the always an optimist four in one mist says shake well that's kind of a firm sprayer it doesn't feel like super like soft you can see it kind of left some spots it's not like one of those sprays that's like super like like a soft mist it's a little more like spraying yourself and face you know i'm gonna put a little bit of gloss over top of this um because i i'm like not really loving them when my lips look even that not really liking you know i'm just gonna leave it because it is lipstick i'm gonna go run a brush through my hair brb all right this is the full face with rare beauty i'm going to kind of zoom you in turn the lights down and we can see what everything looks like so let's just turn down two notches [Music] i will say on camera it's looking pretty nice in person it looks all right i will say let me look up close at my own face under the light okay so i like the way my skin looks for the most part i will say i've used foundations that i like more i think this looks nice however my nose really isn't reacting that well to it it looks dry and i did exfoliate my face beforehand maybe it's that i didn't moisturize well enough because i just used the rare beauty primer but i feel like it looks only all right my nose doesn't look great and i would never say that this looks awesome on my nose but the rest of my skin looks pretty decent i feel like it looks pretty much like skin uh as far as the primer is concerned i can't tell yet i mean it feels moisturizing but it does have that pearl pigment in it it was something that i typically wouldn't use on the day to day i like just a really really hydrating base and then i like to put my stuff on top i don't know that's something that i would ever personally reach for and it feels almost disconnected from this collection in the way of like everything else is so natural and it feels like it should just be like one of those really creamy gel like like moisturizing primers but then for it to have shimmer in it felt a little too huda to the natural but not really i mean i guess if they want everything to be like super glowy then i feel like it makes sense but yeah it's all it's all right the foundation pretty good i'm going to say like out of 10. off a first impression i'm gonna give it like a seven it's not like a full top to me but it's not super low down on the list i would use it again i want to use it with my base routine underneath where i do like the charlotte tilbury magic cream or the milk vegan milk moisturizer i like this one it's really thick or like the tatcha water cream or one of those really moisturizing bases i want to try it with that but i feel like it's pretty good it's not the best thing i've ever tried but the coverage is really nice and i've seen a lot of people really loving it so i'm gonna give it like a seven and a half it's not like the most amazing foundation i've ever used but it's certainly far from the worst so i'd say it's pretty good as far as the blushes are concerned high lee pigmented okay hi hi hi hi highly pigmented i will say that i would get i would gravitate towards that one blush right here even this is super pigmented but this shade for my skin is probably the only one that i would realistically use or i would use the teeny tiniest most minuscule amount of the others because you saw what that did it was like instantaneously way too much blush and that was like a dot on my cheek so that's one thing to keep in mind like it is so so pigmented that you are gonna be like shocked by it and i'm used to blushes especially from brands like this where they are so more naturally geared i'm used to them being half as pigmented as that was or like a quarter is pigmented like the m cosmetics do drop blushes whatever they're called like they're in like the serum blush those are more like what i was picturing this being like where it's just like a wash of color this is like like in your face color so that's something in mind the highlighters are natural and i will say i really like the colors of them but am i like my pants over them not really i mean i think they're pretty but i don't think they're like the most revolutionary thing that i've ever tried in my life but i don't think that the third i don't think they're trying to be um i think that they are pretty and the colors it gives that natural wet looking glow and it does stay tacky so if that's something that bothers you you may want to avoid it my face does slightly feel tacky it's not i mean it sort of dries down but it's not like it doesn't dry dry down like if you were to feel because this is like the excess on my hand it sort of feels like sticky almost not not sticky but like very like if you were to put vaseline on your hand how it has that like greasy oily feel to it but it's not terrible especially if you like that creamy finish but it's not going to dry down to be like dry to the touch by any means it definitely has that like sort of tackiness to it the blotting in stuff i i don't see any positive to that at all for me it the blotting thing i'll show you what i'm talking about when i say this they say that it's infused but like where oh there oh okay i don't know i just i guess but for me i don't know if that'd be worth the money on this it's really really cute i love the way that this looks and i i don't know i'm just i guess i'm more of like one of those lower maintenance people where it's like i'm never gonna pull out blotting sheets i'm gonna use like a piece of paper towel or like a piece of toilet paper or something like i don't know maybe or just like my hand i don't know once i'm out and about like i'm not gonna like pull out a blotting sheet this is not the kind of person that i personally am but maybe you are so maybe that would be something that's really good for you and i do feel like when i just did bash that all over my face like it i feel like it did bring down some of the shininess a little bit so maybe that could be really beneficial for somebody but for me i'm never gonna whip a product like that out maybe i would if i was like on red carpet but i am not um okay nobody's pulling me on the red card the brow product also i'm gonna say not for me but that's because i don't like brow products that have that tip it's nothing against like the quality my brows actually look really nice in the way that they look like the fluffy 20 20 brow that everybody loves i would stick with a different color for myself personally i would go a little bit cooler toned this one to me is a little too warm but i feel like the product itself actually is fine and it performs well i feel too though that the other side the pigmented the gel brow side was a little too dark for me and i had some issues with it and i had to pull out an additional spoolie so it's like it's less foolproof for me than just not using it do you know what i mean because i had to whip out a second product and then i had to pull out the concealer and the little brush but that wouldn't have happened if i had just used a brow product that has like a little bit of a pencil and a spoolie on one end you know so that's kind of how i gravitate but if you like products like the brow definer style where it is that big triangle tip you might really really like this for me i'm going to say it's a pass but that's just because it's the opposite of what i would ever gravitate towards brow wise we are all different you know everybody has different preferences doesn't mean it's bad just means it's different the spray um i don't know that i notice anything with the spray but i also didn't use a ton of it the sprayer on it isn't super fine but keep that in mind if you really like that super fine mist but if you don't care you you can just use it i mean i don't know that it made enough of a difference to purchase setting sprays are something that i typically don't use use that often anyway because i don't use a ton of powder products for me setting sprays are more to bring down the powderiness of my face so when i'm using mostly cream products i wouldn't typically go in with a setting spray because i don't feel like ever in my life i've been like oh that really locked in my makeup i just feel like it sort of do's up my makeup you know what i mean like it doesn't like make it last longer i don't know maybe i'm just somebody that just maybe i don't know i'm gonna say the one thing i would really pass on is this sponge uh you can see now better the type of sponge i'm talking about without me having to turn the lights down see what i'm talking about in comparison to a typical beauty sponge let me see if i can find another beauty sponge okay so this one's super dirty because i was using it the other day but you see how the pore size of it is completely different how this one is like a true kitchen sponge you know versus this one is like a soft nice dense but also really like squishy sponge this one is kind of it doesn't have that like give slowly back it's like the shape is all right but i don't like the uh feel of it or just the i don't know i just feel like i've used better sponges and then the lip products i can see myself reaching for the bombs more often i typically always gear towards clear that's i'm a clear ass that's who i am as a person and i cannot change who i am and i could but i don't want to okay so i always gear towards a clear or a nude today i went with a more pinky toned lip i will say that the comfortability of these is very comfortable they feel very soft cloud like they don't have any dryness to them at all and i really like that the color of the product is the color of the tube so i will say lip product wise if you like that really matte sort of blotted lip look these are sort of that and they are comfortable very very comfortable these again like i was saying i feel that they could have used a way stronger magnet because they're very like you see what i'm saying like you you it takes no effort to be able to just kind of flingy it all around so if you threw this in your purse it's gonna be a mess but it is a nice product and i like the way it smells a lot very very pleasant smell it brings me somewhere i don't know where it is i didn't use the eyeliner because i don't feel like today's look is like more of an eyelinery look is it a brush tip yeah i don't feel like that's felt and the color looks nice and black um let's see if it dries down matte pretty pretty transfer proof oh the concealer too i feel like is fine it's not the most high coverage concealer i've ever used but neither is the foundation i feel like they're a good complement to each other i'm not getting a ton of creasing or anything i'm getting a little bit of creasing on my eyelids where i used it but you know i'm not wearing any eyeshadow i didn't set anything so i'm not surprised that would kind of happen with any concealer that i didn't set all in all what do i think of rare beauty first impressions trying it out i think it is fine i think it's a good addition into the makeup world i like what the packaging looks like i like how the products mostly performed it's a personal preference for each individual person for me i feel like it's a good solid first launch but i will say there are things for me that i would do differently specifically this guy the blushes i love how pigmented they are even though i was like oh my god it's too much for me sure but for somebody else with a deeper complexion i think that it would work great and it would show up i mean these show up the highlighters i do feel like to give that really dewy natural look it depends on what you like in makeup if you're somebody that wants to go full glam this probably isn't for you if you are somebody that wants to look more natural radiant soft minimal i feel like this is more of a brand for you one product they could add in my opinion that i feel like would be good to put into the collection would be a liquid bronzer i feel like that could be really really beneficial because for me is the one product that i couldn't like create the full face with but i think that what they do have are pretty good i'm gonna give it like out of 10 like a seven just the whole line it's more wearable to me than glossier glossier is to the other side of the spectrum way unpigmented way too natural for somebody like me i need sort of that middle of the road so i need that like seven you know what i mean and i feel like it's pretty good i'm not somebody that's their pants over it but mostly it's like seven and a half out of ten which i think is pretty good what i do think is to incorporate it into my makeup routine i will like things about it a little bit more so like maybe i'll use the lip products more often maybe i will use the foundation and concealer and then the rest of my full face of makeup that i like normally you know like my hourglass products or my fenty and you know mixing everything in maybe i would like it more but as a full face of rare i'm gonna give it a solid seven seven and a half so it's pretty good nothing blew me out of the water but nothing is bad you know it's just sort of like pretty good you know so i hope that that is helpful for you i don't know if it is i really expect it a lot and i think it's because when i'm hearing the hype about it online it's like when you're someone who's like you have to watch this movie you will die laughing the entire time i'm not even kidding it's the funniest movie you'll ever see in your entire life you will your pants like you will be crying and if you're not peeing then you don't have a good sense of humor and then when you watch it you're like um you chuckle a few times and you're like am i unfunny or is this was this just way too overhyped the hype was so strong for me i was like expecting dewey goddess of heaven and i'm experiencing like mostly dewey goddess of heaven question mark but it wasn't too overhyped you know what i mean i just feel like you know everybody has different preferences everyone has different skin and everyone has different things that they like and do not like and for me i feel like it's pretty decent i hope this video was helpful for you if i hope it helped you to see what it looks like on somebody like my skin maybe you need to see it on multiple different people watch their videos watch multiple reviews on it before you go maybe try it out i think this is sold at sephora yeah only at sephora it says so you can go into a sephora if you can i don't know how social distancing and all that's working i they have a really good solid large range of things to try so it's one of those that you can kind of pick and choose what kind of looks I have nothing against RBK and no strong attachment to Selena Gomez/Rare Beauty, but this whole video just cements my hatred for the true blue "first impressions" style video. Not necessarily the "trying things on for the first time" video, but the "I have absolutely no idea what's in this box" kind of video.

Just from watching a few videos and doing research on this line for myself, it's baffling how so many BGs reviewing this just open the box without even reading the given info or listing off the products, and they just kinda fumble through things they didn't realize were included (i.e. not knowing there were brushes or a liner) or missing bits of info (i.e. knowing there are 2 kinds of blushes here). And I don't want to be really complainy here, because I really don't have a vested interest in this line; it's just really grating to watch several videos trying to get an idea of what a product is like, only to realize you've done more googling the product than the people making the videos.

(Again, nothing against RBK - just one of quite a few in this broader video trend)

No shade to any of the BGs reviewing this product but I’ve not seen them mention the packaging was designed to help those with mobility issues. I’m assuming that’s where the applicator comes in as well. I have arthritis in my hands and while I can still use a pump no worries sometimes it does wreak havoc opening some things. Interesting that she said it was very make up-y. I have to check it out. She didn’t try the lip products??

Every BG I watch who has tried the foundation has received 3 in their PR package and none of the shades have matched that well! It’s so interesting. Kristi looks good though- no shade. Pun intended.

I just can’t figure out the shades of this product in order to determine a match.

I really like RBK and Manny. I do feel though that they aren’t the type of people who appreciate the type of look these products are achieving. I honestly really liked the more natural looks on both of them but they were clearly not thrilled. I ordered some products and will order more most likely because to me the final looks are a more natural but not the barely there look that is more aimed towards teenagers.

I usually enjoy RBK but this review felt so negative it gave me pause but I fully understand why, it’s not her journey. I hope Robert Welsh reviews them. 🤞🏻

i was super disappointed she didn’t like the foundation! i feel like it’s exactly her type of foundation. i ordered it at launch because of the many good reviews but my skin isn’t as finicky as kristi’s is so i’m sure it’ll probably still be good.

I really really love Kristi but I found this frustrating to watch. I know from watching Sam's video that there's a really in-depth book that came with this and Kristi is acting so clueless about every product. And when she said to mix the blush with a moisturizer before applying she lost me. Why wouldn't you just blend it out on the back of your hand and then dip your brush into that and build it up on your face? It was just all super strange and kind of irritating.
