His Dream of Flying a Plane Came True - Random Acts

today is the day and we keep hearing that chris is such a good samaritan so in order to meet him jenna and i are gonna have a little bit of car trouble yeah i don't know what's going on in but i push this green button and this happens well that looks very serious but luckily chris's house is just right around the corner and he should be leaving for work anytime well perfect hopefully he'll stop and help us fingers crossed all right heads up everyone chris is leaving the house start the smoke it is started coming at you now get ready [Music] to finish up oh chrissy that doesn't look good hey is your engine off yeah i ah uh i don't even know what's going on yeah the engine i'm assuming is off that would be bad right i don't know what's going on i mean i know hey chris thanks for stopping you're welcome you know i heard you were a really nice person [Music] you're actually on a hidden camera show called random act so there's not actually anything wrong with our cars fine i'm emily this is my friend jenna we have heard so much about all the incredible things that you have done for the youth in your community oh thank you we also know that you love airplanes but you've never had an opportunity to actually fly one yes chris you are always serving other people but today we are doing something for you we are taking you on a flight experience oh wow yes only problem is it's in las vegas yeah your wife is in on it your boss is in on it in fact we're taking the whole family with us that's right so all we got to do now is go you want to go let's go [Music] and now it's time to surprise chris's family they have no idea we're here come on out kids we have a bit of a surprise oh hey road trip do you want to come with [Laughter] [Applause] did you save the best seat for me well i guess i'm gonna have to sit on a lap oh no i am excited to drive to vegas like this yeah this is very comfortable jenna yeah jenna what i think there can only be one person in the front seat all right let's rock paper scissors okay i'll just be you no let me get my hand out i can get my hand out for scissors yeah this is me this one's me i win oh okay oh all right fine all right fine stay in there that was exhausting have fun okay love you bye let's go [Music] this morning we were a little worried you know we saw his car turn the corner and we thought lily help us it turns out he was actually even a little bit late for work and he still stopped the car to help us it was amazing so have you always wanted to work with kids yeah when i was younger my family took foster children and i saw how they did when they were in our home and they did really well and as a social worker we're typically the front line and one of the things that we've seen a huge rise in lately is suicidal ideation or thoughts even as low as elementary that is hard for me because i think of my own children and i think wow if they were hurting like that i just want somebody to reach out to them and so i just hope that i can be one piece in their puzzle to help them so that they don't feel like that's the only choice that they have available to them what a wonderful noble thing that you have devoted your life to one of the things i realize about life is that connections with others are the most important thing and so that's at least something i can be well i think that you succeeded that i hope so [Music] [Applause] well chris you know that you're here for a flight experience but what you don't know is that today you're going to be trained to fly an aerobatic stunt plane buy an f-16 pilot do you think you're ready for that i hope so well in that case we've got to get you into safety training so we can get you up in the sky okay so let's go whoa oh yeah all right welcome everybody welcome scott chris are you one of the pilots today welcome to sky combat we're gonna head upstairs and uh get you guys all briefed up all right awesome follow me all right the airplanes are gonna be flying today it's capable of plus or minus 10 g's now there's two full sets of flight controls they are linked so we're going to be handing you the controls we'll say you have the aircraft when i want the airplane back i'll fly you can let go and that way we can uh both have fun and at least one of us is flying the airplane it's a very very simple airplane to fly if you pull back the airplane's gonna go into a climb if you push forward the airplane's going to go into a dive you push left or right your plane will bank if you hold it in one direction the airplane is going to roll in that direction okay now for the dogfighting portion you've got to maneuver in behind your opponent and shoot them from behind their wings the way that's gonna start as soon as we pass i'm gonna count you down i'll say three two one you have the controls and then you're gonna be taking the controls and flying in a way to try and get behind your opponent and we'll be coaching you from the back seat all right got your eyes on each other that's good chris i presume how are you doing hi welcome let's go downstairs we got you up in the flight suits and uh yeah all right let's head downstairs now all right you guys we have another surprise for chris hey zack someone who chris had a big impact on is here to ride with me in the spectator plane when we land we're gonna have a surprise reunion so the tradition is you should pick each other's call sign you don't pick your own so let the games begin he's chosen okay you're nice to me hey champion tinkerbell tinkerbell you're gonna be with kevlar kevlar all right champ you're flying with one of the best of the best we are going to be wearing parachutes today we've never had to use one so we're trying to keep that going we have an emergency that's what you would call okay okay there's an emergency all right we're gonna step up guys and we're good to go i love you daddy i love you too did you ever think you'd be doing this no i didn't ever i am a little bit nervous but i don't think i've ever seen his biggest smile as he has on right now here we go ready to fly all right what's up can you hear me okay i can hear you all right let's head out here here we go [Music] anderson ground base three flight of three we're coming out of sky combat ace free flight henderson tower cleared four take off up up and away all right let's go have some fun hey here we go i'm flying are you loving it this is the greatest roller coaster in the world it's awesome isn't it and we haven't even done anything yet let's have some fun all right here we go we're going over the top all right oh that's awesome oh that was fun emily i can't wait to do it too all right now we're gonna teach you some hammerheads get your hands on the controls we're gonna pull straight up so keep pulling okay look out to your left wing good stop right there let this weight hold it in very good good now a spoon pull back well done and then here we go wow all right tail slide same thing pull back looking good now stop right there just hold on tight okay we're gonna start to come back [Music] and here we go [Music] crawling backwards out of the sky yeah nice give me a nice smooth pull oh and you can just follow along until we get there and then it's going to be all you again all right aces turning left to left fight don fights down left left right side here we come all right wait till they pass and three two one go get her yeah [Music] let's climb it back up and we'll fight again all right champ let's get some revenge i believe in you and three two one we're coming for [Music] okay everybody let's head back with a few tumbles and spins on the way oh yeah and around the world turned [Music] awful [Music] i watched you guys and it was crazy i don't know if you know but i was in like the smaller plane that was following you around and honestly i actually wasn't alone in the plane we had someone up there with us someone who i think means a lot to you and i know you mean a lot to him and he wants to say hello and uh hey zach how are you oh my gosh bud how are you doing i'm doing good holy cow well thank you for coming out and supporting me in this that's awesome so how long have it been since you've seen each other three years yeah yeah wow he's he's one of the most amazing people i've ever met his story is much better than mine he just overcomes so many trials in his life and to see him overcome those and to be the man who he is and to be where he's at it's just an amazing thing with amazing people like you my life it's just i don't know how else i could have done it you know that that comes from you that comes from your your heart and your determination so thank you for letting me be a part of that proud of you thanks i give you another hug yes today was fun it was a joy to be up on the plane but i think the best part for me has been connecting with zach he just touched my life in a positive uplifting way and i'm grateful for that
