monday hey everybody welcome back to the good old southern ia hope you guys are really enjoying these videos make sure you hit the like button and subscribe if you haven't let's get to the video it smells like rain and it's windy we set up the base station real fast we're taking that over to where we're planting today we're gonna go get a box of seed duly then we're gonna plant what's the plan this wind is just my grill is in my yard and i haven't even picked it up like it just keeps blowing into my yard i've given up on it luckily though i don't have one of those 1500 triggers i think you know i don't remember 100 on that but i'm pretty darn close i think when we went to plan it was like 46 or something yeah i think it was like what row was it that was wobbling on this thing second from the hinge point right that looks like a 15 16. uh 15 inches that'll work that'll work come on on your side bud uh you're just getting started playing 20 acres so hunting we got a good gps signal that's good we are going to go here we are that's the right farm today we're planting 64 a15 drought guard only got a few other things that we got to do here make sure i got my gps lines load pattern with pjs north south north south let's be good to go there got all my gps lines pillowed my prescriptions there's a prescription darker blue is a higher population lighter blue lower population okay we're ready to go get seed dad's over there telling stories hey no zeus you're on you guys should take a picture of the information on the tag before he puts it up there [Music] oh you done all your exploring today [Music] we got a little rock to pick up so i should have my prescriptions loaded in here one two both of them are in you can tell right there 64 a15 drought guard uh vt2 that's what we're planting here today put the prescriptions based on soil type that's usually kind of what i would say the majority of the time is the yield zones for our area 64 815 it's a pretty hearty hybrid good on stress dirt it doesn't really respond to pushing the population it's a really flexing year so i wrote a prescription based upon three different zones and three different populations our populations today are going to swing between 30 000 and 32 000 so kind of a narrow range the yield zones of below average average and above average soil types and when we're done i will show you guys what it looks like when you plant a variable rate population the theory behind it is is that the better soils can support more plants per acre increase your yield and the weaker acres less plants per acre so hopefully overall your yield average gets up but we are ready to roll just about done with the end rose here right up there we'll be done which if for some reason you don't know what end rows are intros are the order of the field some people call them headlines my dad's right over there somewhere back up over there going across the road pretty sure the plans to hop across the road once they get done here [Music] hey b-line we better stop here bud because that lovely piece right there would not be good going into anything but since we're out let's take the long walk to the back of the planter make sure everything's going good come on what i have to do throughout the day is adjust the hydraulic flow for my bulk tank pressure i'm at eight pounds i wanted a little higher than that i like to run around 12. the bulk tank pressure in this planter changes because it uses the hydraulics of the actual plant or tractor apply the air pressure to the bulk tanks to the delivery which is something when we went on that kinsey plant tour that was really attractive and i didn't know about the new planters is that it doesn't take that mess of hoses all you need is a pto and i think two remotes and then it's all closed loop system and their new monitor actually controls all of your settings and keeps them consistent for you i like that it's consistent settings means consistent planting consistent planting means consistent emergence and consistent emergency means good yields looks like that's done let's mean that across the roads ready to rock and roll tiny house oh what i'm doing out here today i'm trying to level up this pattern tile we did last fall it wintered pretty good and laid down nice but we're going to take the disc and run over it so there's nothing to it but to do it you ready for the 80 acre stretch bud i am pretty sure that's the one i lost last year looks good we ain't even ate your sandwich [Music] you know you're special when you get a full circle of foot right another good news molly got some yeast so she's gonna go back to making bread for me i like it we got her so here's a population map after we got the planting done the divided there in the middle is the road right here but as you can see there's a darker green here in the middle and along these ridges that's the flat that way and the flat back behind us on those flats is the better dirt like we talked about earlier in the video that's where we put more seeds per acre because supposedly in theory the better dirt can support the more seeds per acre and then when we look here we get towards uh a good one over here in this area here that's a lot lighter dirt that's where you can actually see the different color of the dirt right there it's a whole lot thinner can't support as much seed so we're going to put less seed there and right here you can tell what we averaged out at was 31 100 plants per acre i was going kind of slow today and we did 25.9 acres per hour but that's another 105 acres in the ground 106 acres in the ground still risky corn so we're either going to look like heroes or zeros i guess if we continue to plant more and more acres before the insurance date i i don't know that's going to be dad's call i don't think i'm going to plan on planting any more acres but i think that's going to do it for today's video guys i'm going to fold this thing up take it back home so i can get it fueled up take on whatever tomorrow brings don't forget it thumbs up button on the way out we'll see the next time you
