Hermann Göring's Special Train - Exclusive New Footage

[Music] reichsmarschall Hermann Goering was easily the most colorful character among the Nazi leadership a literal larger-than-life personality that as well as being a ruthless politician and military leader was a man driven by a quest for luxury and wealth unlike the other nasty leaders who were mostly from the lower middle classes by birth and character Goering was from the periphery of the German aristocracy assured of his social position raised in a succession of fairytale castles he developed a love of luxury from an early age and avidly collected houses that were outfitted in an over-the-top style he looted Europe for art who was hung on the walls of his many houses including his enormous main residence Karen how outside Berlin he wore extravagant uniforms of his own design and his fingers dripped with heavy gold rings encrusted with precious stones and he was fascinated with machines and collected them also with alacrity as outlined in a previous video link at the end during a master collection of World War 1 aircraft now preserved in Poland a fleet of beautiful cars see my video on his famous Blue Goose in the N screen and he had a school voice fascination with trains had Karen how he had huge model trains laid out in the attics and cellars and he would entertain his guests running the trains over brandy and cigars of an evening the main line was 325 feet long but he also had a real full-size train all the Nazi leaders had special armored trains the most famous being Hitler's train codenamed America but whereas Hitler was a fastidious man who detested pomp and show Goering lived for extravagance so it's no surprise that his armored train was the orient-express of totalitarian transport the leaders trains were useful secure travel has luxurious accommodation when visiting the front lines and as temporary mobile headquarters Goering strain was codenamed Asya nor Asia the main carriages were of a Pullman design each having armored ceilings sides and floors that caused them to wait 60 tons inside the carriages were wood paneled carpeted and expensively decorated and furnished with cherry wood tables cabinets and chairs Goering strain normally consisted of 15 carriages due to the carriages great weight Asia was hauled by a pair of powerful creaks lock or war locomotives immediately behind the second engine was Affleck Fagin a special carriage mounting to quad 20 millimeter flak feeling 38 anti-aircraft guns there was another flick Fagin at the other end of the Train the special carriages were designed by the Luftwaffe and was standard on all Nazi leaders trains the guns would be raised up on a special platform to stand off a strafing or bombing attack by Allied aircraft each flak Fagin had five crew compartments for 17 gunners drawn from the ninth regiment general Goering behind the front flak Vardhan was a utility and service carriage then a luggage carriage this carriage contained rooms to store grains many uniforms and civilian suits decorations and medals weapons and other accoutrements next was goings personal Pullman carriage which included two large bedrooms and a full bathroom of an outsize porcelain bathtub it was also a dressing room servants quarters and a sitting room the sitting room was often utilized as a cinema the next carriage along was the Goering family carriage which would be used occasionally if his wife Emmie and daughter Edie were traveling with him plus space for servants and bodyguards next along the train was the communication and Situation Room carriage containing a radio room fitted with a 700 watt shortwave radio transmitter Enigma encryption machines using the Luftwaffe code and a telephone exchange phones could be used when the train was sitting in a station as the train was simply plugged into the German landline telephone network run by the post office in this carriage there was a conference room dominated by a large portrait of Adolf Hitler Goering used this room for meetings with generals and dignitaries and planning conferences Goering loved his food and behind the communication carriage was his special dining car all dining cars on Nazi leaders trains were provided by the Metro / company using their own specially screen waiters and chefs behind the dining cart was a sleeping carriage for close aides staff and more bodyguards Goering was very well protected by two units his clothes protection was provided by a small team of SS officers from the Reich's syke Heights dienst the Reich security service or our SD that also guarded Hitler and all other top leaders they were always armed with 7.65 millimetre valtor PPK semi-automatic pistols and never left his side they were also responsible for threat assessments security aboard the train route planning and investigating potential threats the second protection unit was a heavily armed Luftwaffe bodyguard regiment that protected all of gearing's various castles and houses secured the Train and escorted his vehicles when he was moving around they would not travel on the train but will be ready at the destination to provide visible security the next two cars were Metro / sleeping carriages not quite as luxurious as the Pullman but housing more bodyguards staff and aides and behind these another simpler Metro / dining car for their use finally there was another utility and service wagon and the aforementioned flak Fagin bringing up the rear in total Goering strain had an operational staff including bodyguards of a hundred and seventy one people when Goering strain visited the front another carriage was added that contained a 6 bed mobile hospital with an operating room a dark room for gearing's personal photographer ìtell Langer and a barbershop also as needed special carriages called Auto packs could be added to the Train up to three Auto packs could carry vehicles such as goings several armored limousines and escort cars it is said that after his luxurious Karen how his state Goering loved his train the most of all his myriad possessions and it certainly shows in this description Asia was often accompanied by a second armored train codenamed Robinson this was the special train of the Luftwaffe High Command and was sometimes moving in concert with Goering 'he's asia when Asia was moving between locations in common with Hitler's train and the other leaders specials the route was carefully guarded by troops to prevent sabotage of the tracks all stations were guarded and searched and no unauthorized personnel were permitted near the train which would be carefully checked for bombs before Goering boarded Goering was one of the few Nazi leaders to have his own huge bunker close to Hitler's at the Wolf's Lair the Fuhrer's Eastern Front headquarters when Goering arrived by train Asia would be parked under camouflage netting at Gurlitt station the station equipped with heavy bunkers in case of air raids similarly when Goering took the train to his mountaintop house close to Hitler's on the Obersalzberg outside back to scar Dhin in southern Bavaria Asia would be shunted into a tunnel at back to Scotland station to protect it from air attack at Karen how a special station was enlarged for Asia at Friedreich's Valda similarly he would also travel by train to his Grand State hunting lodge at Rome inton now in Poland which was in fact blown up on Goering x' orders as the Red Army closed in in October 1944 as the war came to an end Karen how was emptied of its treasures which were packed into Asia and a series of special freight trains and shipped to Bavaria in February 1945 with Auto packs crammed with art antique furniture a library of books goings record collection and many other items freight wagons were added with crates of food and drink some of the priceless works of art were dropped off for safekeeping at Goering 's castle schloss Velden Stein and Asia arrived a back discard in station on the 15th of February 1945 the 7th of April Goering ordered the Train commander to move all our treasures into six freight wagons also moved was a large amount of linen soap liquor and gowing's personal baggage there was so much property that Goering eventually amassed Asia and three completely full freight trains had backed us garden if you want to find out what Goering Asia was emptied of its treasures and they were interned in a special bunker between backtest garden and Koenig's a the rest of the treasures and personal belongings remained aboard the three freight trains had pectus Garden Station on the 5th of May low cause looted the trains when Allied troops arrived soon afterwards a huge amount of art disappeared from the Train mostly taken by locals and monuments men officers were still searching for it in the entire area in 1948 the bunker near Koenig se was taken intact by US troops and the artworks publicly displayed for a while in pectus garden so what became of Asia the train was captured by the US Army and the carriages were divided between the Americans and the British for use by allied generals in the immediate post-war period one of Goering saloon carriages was used after the war on the Henschel Legman passenger train this train ran a high-speed service by Deutsche Bundesbank called the blue gentium between Hamburg and Munich the Train ended services in 1959 and thereafter what became of Asia is a mystery perhaps a carriage or two from Goering 'he's famous train still exists somewhere today before they were built to last or
