what are we doing out here taggi we're checking cows this morning we're doing in a health check on the calves to make sure everybody's healthy and I got my best self with me taggi what open it she says open it she thinks she was driving through she's not yeah that snowball way over there and we can go see you on Gaussian okay [Music] when tegi and i are primarily looking for in our health check this morning is scours which is just a fancy term for diarrhea but young calves like these are sometimes prone to scours it's really really important that we find Henry hydrate calves with scours because if you've had diarrhea you know that you can get pretty dehydrated and it's no different in calves except for their dehydration when they have scours is like to an extreme because with calves this young they don't I mean they do drink from the tank water on their own from the tank a little bit but not like an older calf or cow would so they dehydrate really really fast and they can die from it so it's really important that we come out here and do our health check and drench we use this bottle it's called a drenching bottle to help rehydrate the cap so we fill this bottle with water and sometimes we put a little baking soda with the water because it sort of acts like a neutralizer if their stomach's really acidic it's like taking a tums and then we put this tube in their mouth and the calves sometimes chew on it but they'll swallow this and then we can put the water directly into their stomach and help get them hydrated [Music] get into the next pasture watch your fingers good job sister I'll Drive through real quick okay there's our girl Scarface I don't know where cap is I guess it is it's somewhere in the direction that she's looking find Scarface's baby he's got he's black with a little bit of white on his face I don't see him over here but all these calves look good so that's good Billy Scarface she's looking in the wrong direction her cap is over here well it's not that one it's not that one it's this one what's the very little bit of white on his face he's running I found that is a big cast Scarface's calf is being kind of naughty and mom was hollering at him and he's just standing there not going with mom he got distracted by a piece of grass and she got distracted by some green grass there he goes yep yep we're done we can head back home Perry went and got his mom she likes to wear dresses and paint her nails and do her hair do you need help okay I'll help you and I let her because she doesn't have to be like me low maintenance cap shades hoodie insane tan line on my face from wearing my sunglasses that makes me look like I have a beard she can be who she wants to be and she is what I like to call a ranch in ISTA cuz she's a rancher but fashion is important or what my friend Courtenay DeHoff calls a fancy lady cowgirl either way she's pretty dang awesome what do you go out there sis I'll help you get the gate okay you think I can drive through a hole that small oh good job now I can make it through there good job what did you find [Music] snap grasp it is very tall snack grass is it because you eat it it's not all the time well we got done with our health check and we didn't find any cabs with scours which makes for a little bit of a boring YouTube video but it's actually a really really good thing that's we like it when we can't find anything that needs drenched ah why you never leave a loop in the end of your rope when you get off to doctor something the one laying down is the one we doctored or needs doctored and this is the one turn card oh yeah super looper that's your rope mine's on my saddle there get your robe back watch him [Music] I'm gonna be an anchor I don't think I got the LED in my butt to be the anchor [Music] [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] mr. ffb and I found this little guy during our herd move this morning and he looked like he needed some hydration so we roped him and we tied two of his legs together that just helps restrain him for his safety and ours and Here I am drenching him so he swallowed the tube I listened for breath sounds to make sure that it was in his esophagus and not his trachea and now we're rehydrating him with some soda water [Music]
