[Music] welcome to Queen Anne's I'm Julia Harrington headmistress you'll find lots of information about Queen Anne's on our website but I'd like to share with you my thoughts on what makes this school such a special place and the right choice for your daughter senior school education has to encompass both qualifications and growing as an individual and learning to be an important part of a significant part of a growing and global community the world that we're preparing these girls our students for is changing all the time so what we have to do is look at the kind of people that we are preparing these these girls to be and for them it's about being able to face any challenge that comes along so academic qualifications are just their current challenge and their challenges will be different going forward so we teach them how to approach the challenge how to look at it analyze it see what's needed and then take that leap into being the best that they can possibly be whether it's sport music drama arts we like to push girls outside of their comfort zone so if there's forty we want them to take up a musical instrument in drama one of the best moments for me is when I hear a girl who's maybe from Russia play the part of a cockney character so extracurricular is really important to both develop the skills in that area but also to play to imagine to develop a different understanding of how you can be in different circumstances they see excellence they know how to get there they know it's a choice for them and they're able to support and celebrate with each other as we all work towards it one of the things that people always say about our girls is that they're confident in a nice way they're not really me girls and that always makes me very happy they are proud of their school they're proud of themselves they're proud of each other and that's why we have this nice confidence which is not about what I want it's about what I'm doing as part of a community when I walk around the school I know every girl and that's really important to me we're a small school of four hundred and sixty girls and we were boarding in a community about 50/50 and that makes us a really special place to be in terms of where girls go after their time at Queen Anne so we don't just have one version of success yes girls go off to university they will go to study a wide range of subjects they were going to Russell Group universities Oxbridge American universities they'll also go to art college drama college and some will go on to apprenticeships in in a wide variety of different industries we recognize that the academic profile of any girls CV is going to be critical but it's a stepping stone it's the start of the journey the things that will really allow her to shine and thrive and grow and be happy are all of those attributes that she will have developed through the extracurricular work that she will do here with its music drama art sport running a charity doing some enterprise whatever it is those are the places that she will learn where she can be most effective where she can be most fulfilled I always say that the girls enter the school as an individual and I want them to leave that way as well we're not into cloning girls we're about finding the best that they can be [Music] you [Music]
