Michael: We got a special watch. Michael: You can call me on your watch. ♫ ♫ (THE BEACH HOUSE THEME 'WHEN ADVENTURE CALLS' BY CODY CRABB) ♫ ♫ Michael: So Becca and I spent the day at the Verizon store. We hung out with her brother Steven who actually works at the Verizon store in Springville. Michael: You guys should go visit him. Corbin: My mom is gonna give me her phone. Michael: We got new phones. Becca and I did. Michael: That's right, so we're thinking we might let the kids use our old phones. Michael: Have you been asking mom for a watch James? James: Yeah. Michael: What kind of watch do you want? James: You know Jared left his watch on the couch. It's all black watch. It's about that big. And the circle's about that big. James: And it's kind of like a clock like that and I was playing with it and it had a button on the bottom and it said James: Light and I pressed it and it turned blue. James: And that's the kind of watch I want and it cost $30 at Walmart. Michael: Okay, do you have $30? James: Yeah. I have $43. Michael: 43 okay. Corbin: And I have $22. Michael: You have 22? Corbin: $22 total. Michael: Interesting. Alright let's talk about this a little bit more. Corbin's got his money out so we're gonna count how much money you've got. Michael: Hey Ellie. I want you to put all your pennies over here baby. And guess what? It's the beginning of March. Michael: So we're gonna pay out for what you guys earned in February. Come on over here James. Sit right here James. Michael: And I want you to count your money. James: Twenty three dollars of cash and twenty dollars of cents. I haven't counted all my pennies just yet. Michael: You already counted it all? Michael: Cool. What if I told you that we got you a special watch, but you have to buy it yourself. James: Yeah. That would be good. Michael: Okay, but this watch is gonna cost all the money that you have. James: Forty three dollars? Michael: Yeah, it's actually a little bit more than that. But it's gonna be a really cool watch. Like the coolest watch ever. Michael: Do you want it? Michael: will you give it to him Rebecca? Becca: I'm playing with it. Michael: Hey! That's not your watch. Michael: James, come here. I want to tell you. So we went to the Verizon store, and we got a special watch. James: Is it waterproof? Michael: It's waterproof. Michael: And you can call me on your watch. Michael: And you can call mom on your watch, and there's a couple of games on your watch. Michael: And it tells time and it tells the date. Michael: And I can call you on your watch, so if you're in your bedroom. Michael: I can be down here, and I can call you on my phone. Michael: And you can answer it I can be like hey James come here, and then you can come down because I just called you on your watch. Michael: And It also has location tracking so if you're at a friend's house, or if you're gone. Michael: I can look on my phone and see exactly where you are. Michael: So if you're gone somewhere I can be like where's James? I can't find him anywhere then I can find you. Michael: Is that cool? It has a voice distortion game. That cool? Michael: Do you want one too? You're gonna have to save up a little bit, but you can get one. Michael: That's right, and you're earning a lot of money doing school, which means really soon you could be able to have your own watch too. Michael: And you can you can have a different color if you want. Michael: We'll have to add it up and see how much money you've got. Michael: Okay keep saving. James you want me to teach you how to use it? Michael: Or do you just kind of want to play with it? You're gonna have to read. It goes on your other hand. James: Thank you so much! Michael: You're welcome. Michael: You have $13? Michael: So you've got a little over $20. Now come here Corbin. You actually..now that it's March. Michael: We're gonna pay out for what you guys earned in February and Corbin actually earned a lot of money in February. Michael: I think you probably learned over $30 in February. Michael: Over $30 in February so we can add that to what you already have and then you'll be able to probably get a watch soon. Michael: Really soon. Michael: Very soon. Are you calling grandma? James: I'm not trying to. I accidentally pressed a button. Michael: Okay, just push this button right here if you want to go back. Michael: But if you want to call dad, like that. You just push that telephone. Now it says calling dad. Now listen my phone's gonna ring. [cellphone ringing] Michael: James? Michael: Can you hear me? Michael: I can hear you too, you can call mom and you can call grandma you can go grandpa. You can call Ryan. Michael: Those are the people you're allowed to call. Becca: I got my glasses yesterday. Becca: Finally went got some new ones cause these...I lost my other ones in the move. Anyways James is having so much fun. Becca: He's seriously giggling and he just called my dad. Becca: Which my dad didn't know that we did this. So my dad is gonna like..what's going on? Becca: But can you imagine? Can you imagine? Becca: Being a kid and having a watch like that and like being able to call people on it and feeling like a spy roger roger. Becca: You know that'll be so cool as a kid. He's spoiled. Just kidding. Michael: Here's the thing, he bought it. Michael: He's paying for it with his own money. It only costs five dollars a month to have it on the plan Michael: Which he can pay to with his own money that he's making from working Michael: So, I don't feel like we're spoiling him with toys that he didn't work for. Like he's paying for it for himself, so. Becca: It does make me feel better thinking about him going to Scouts now. Michael: It just makes me feel good knowing that we'll be able to track his location. And that he can call us or we can call him anytime. Becca: It can send a voice message to anybody. I don't know if it you can actually text on it, but you can receive text. Michael: He can receive text and he's got pre message to texts that he can respond. Michael: Like yes, no or whatever or he can do a voice response to. But it's just really cool. Becca: And call five different numbers, and it has a couple games on it. Little active games like jump fifteen times. Michael: And the thing is I have an app on my phone, a companion app. So where I can track him on my phone on my app. Michael: But I can also see who he's called, what activities he's done like, I can track all of his...stuff. Becca: That is so cool. Michael: Which is really cool. And also there's a feature on my phone where I can force him to pick up the phone like if I call him, Michael: And he doesn't answer for 10 seconds it'll automatically answer. Michael: So I can hear where he's at or what he's doing. Becca: Alright Michael, it's the end of a long day. Becca: And I'm about to interpret James's text messages from his new watch phone. Michael: James made 45 phone calls. Becca: Today. Michael: From his watch. Michael: And he only has five contacts. So he was spamming me and mom and Ryan and grandma, grandpa. Michael: He had a lot of fun with that watch. Becca: I better call somebody. Michael: They might wonder where I am. Becca: I might be in a different room. Michael: So James is also texting me with the watch. Michael: He just kept sending me the weirdest faces and random messages, and I have no idea what they mean. Becca: But I do. Cause he was following me around the house saying I just sent this to dad and this is what I meant by it. Michael: This is the first text he sent me was a little green man holding a heart. Becca: So that one, he said means "aww. I love you" or something like that and then he sent I love you. Michael: He said I love you, and then he said yes, and then he sent this scary face. Michael: And I was just like...Oh cause I think there was some physical like some verbal conversation in between some of these text messages. Becca: He came up to me and said. Becca: Dad just told me that I should stop calling him because I just called him too many times, so I'm gonna send him this angry face. Becca: He said, that's how I feel. Michael: I'm glad he can express himself. Michael: Look! It's literally not even like minutes. Becca: 2:32, 2:33, ,2:33, 2:34 Michael: Then I'd send it 2:35. I was like yep. That's great. I love you too. Becca: And then he said: "Aww. I'm gonna send him a heart. Yes, I love you." Michael: And then i said: "Are you being good?" And then he sent me this little man. Becca: See that little man. That was the one. He sent the I love you and look it was right after that he sent that one. Becca: And he said on his, he's like, look. I just sent this it says I love you. And then it made this face cause that's how I feel. Becca: And he stopped. This is how I feel. Becca: Yeah. That will tell what I mean. Becca: And then he was very excited about how, you know because I can't write very well. Becca: And it takes me some like, too much time this is perfect. So I'll just send all of these pictures, and then he'll know exactly what I'm thinking. Michael: It's probably because he just got done watching the emoji movie. Michael: All they do is send emojis to each other. There's no words. Michael: And then he sent me this. He sent me this sad face later, and then he said yes. Michael: And then sent me this watch, and then he said no and then he did a cheering. And then he said yes. Michael: And this is like, boom boom boom boom boom. Michael: I said what? Michael: I feel like it's good cause it's kind of make him practice reading. Michael: I think that looks like a dab. Michael: Oh. And then he learned soon after this, he learned how to send voice messages. James: "I love you." James: "It's pretty fun. Texting together. I'll keep texting you every once in a while. So, bye." James: "Hi dad. It's been a great day so far. Michael: This is literally three minutes apart. James: "Stop texting you a little and start to text mom a little more. And then I can call Ryan and see when he's getting back. So, bye." Becca: So he sent a picture, and I don't know if he got it to you. I think he tried to send it to you because he brought it up to me and he said. Becca: Okay mom. Here's a picture of a house. Here's a picture of emoji. Here's a picture of this. And yes, that means how do you like this new house we got? Becca: Pretty good, huh? Becca: And he's like, this is what this means, this is what this means... Becca: I have one more really great story that we need to listen to. Becca: Wait. You told it right? Becca: Okay. Grandma is going to tell this story cause it's really good. This is everything that happened today with James's new kid gizmo watch. Becca: Also It's a little cell phone. Becca's mom: We have to go pick up Shinoah every day from high school. We had already gotten her and so he went into my office. Becca's mom: And hid in and around my fabric and everything. And I could hear him in there cause the phone makes little weird sounds and stuff. Becca's mom: But I just wasn't paying attention and all of a sudden dad's phone rings. Becca's mom: And I'm in the kitchen and and dad's like hello, and I could hear James talking right out loud in my office. Becca's mom: He's like, hi. This is Shinoah. You can come get me now. Becca's mom: And your dad goes: Who? Who is this? And he goes, Shinoah. I'm ready. You can come pick me up now. Becca's mom: Your dad goes: Never mind. We're just gonna leave you there. You can stay there overnight. Shinoah: No. It was either that or upstairs. Cause he was doing it to Ryan too. Shinoah: He's like, I'm Jared. Let me in. Becca: It's so funny that that's his natural instinct is to do. Is to do all these prank phone calls to everybody. Michael: And I programmed it. Cause James loves The Polar Express. So whenever he calls me cause he's saved as a contact. Michael: It plays that chocolate song from Polar Express. Becca: Which I'm already like, change it. Michael: He calls me maybe too much I should change it. Becca: It's gonna be stuck in your head for eternity. ♫ ♫ (THE BEACH HOUSE THEME 'PAUSE THE GAME' BY CODY CRABB) ♫ ♫
