all right so I am here in Hickory Run State Park here in a thicknesses Carbon County Pennsylvania it's a Saturday August 2/10 this place is just packed I had to park alongside the road here just up here's the park office but it was it's packed here it's interesting I was just that nesco peck State Park which is maybe 20 minutes away and it was almost empty and then you come here and it's just like it's packed anyway I've been here before in the past there was a waterfall here Hawk Hawk Falls and I did be a boulder trail there's a boulder feel there but anyway that's not why I'm here today I should not gonna do any hiking today but back up behind me back up that hill let's motorcycles go back up that hill should be a cemetery I believe I've done my research correctly the little-known cemeteries I think I see a little trail going up there and supposedly a cemetery is haunted - so I'm gonna cross this road and uh we'll get up there hopefully look both ways I believe if we head up this way see there is a little path here I think we are at the spot cuz the directions all said that it was kind of across from the park office up on top of the little hill so let's see if we have a cemetery up here let's walk up here together oh yeah I see graves [Applause] yep cool yeah check it out up there [Applause] and we have the place to herself just good looks like I said it is just even down below there's one grave all by itself over there even just pull up down below there's tons of people walk on the road so yeah awesome the only downside is that we we do have the deal some highway traffic down there but you know it's okay all right well I'm gonna in a moment here I'll tell you about that the history of this graveyard highway traffic I'll tell you about the history of this graveyard and then we'll look at some of the tombstones we'll see if we can find some in particular that deal with the story so we are in Hickory run state park and it's named after a village that used to be out here hickory run and of course this village dates back to the 1800s early eighteen hundreds actually when they were doing lumber and you know all kinds of stuff like that there are some dams along the creeks down here for mills and tanneries and stuff like that and October 30th 18-49 there was a flood when the dams burst and waters came rushing down really high washed tons of houses away and killed quite a few people and a number of those people more traffic with music anyway a number of those people are buried in this cemetery I forget I forget how many it is but we will look for those so we will look for death dates of 18-49 October 30th 1849 so some tombstones in particular there was a family called the West family four of their children died in this flood I think the wife did too the father didn't he lived for another 40 years I think so we will look for some of them I think he's buried in here to the west family and also the Gould family geo uld and they lost a daughter Elizabeth or she's often referred to justice Lizzie and she's buried in here their house actually got picked up off of its foundation washed downstream and most of the family survived that Lizzie didn't and she's buried in here somewhere as Elizabeth and supposedly she's one of the people that haunts this grave these people say that you could see her walking around the graveyard where the people have seen her walking along down the road I'm a little girl and supposedly there's other people other figures of people have seen haunting this area so I hope play don't seen any of them here today so if we did I'd probably hang out too much longer so anyway that's the story of this place and there is some tragedy associated with this place I do see one the west people here Jacob West oh I see them yeah I see the I see the whole family buried on the same two stood over here so we'll look at that a moment so all right so that's pretty much the gist of that story and of course after that flooded town his proofs wiped out in a abandoned so this whole area was pretty much abandoned for a while then too because it was just devastated by you know reckless forestry floods forest fires it's kind of a wasteland for a while hey I'm gonna quit yappin let's take a look at some of these tombstones and we'll keep our eye out for any little ghostly girl figures all right let's take a look at the West family here right away okay so here we go we could read this one sons and daughters of Jacob and Elizabeth West who drowned October 30th 18-49 so we have Diana 15 years old Jacob was 6 years old Ursula was 4 years old and Scott only 1 year old so four children and the wife also died because here's her grave so here's Elizabeth wife of Jacob West was drowned October 30th 18-49 40 years old so his wife and four of his kids and over here it's Jacob himself Jacob West can't quite make out everything here so this got broke off so maybe he lived on at the flood I think I read about 40 years after so there are a number of other West people but they didn't died on the flood Alvin West margaret wife of levi west there's a Samuel West down there here's someone else who died oh hey check this out this isn't this is interesting David Myers died September 11th 18-49 21 years old so he died you know like a month and a half before the flood because October 30th 1849 was the flood so he yeah he died just before the flood it's kind of interesting of course once again some of these older graveyards don't really have anything written on the tombstones all right so we found the West family and then we're now we're looking for Elizabeth or Lizzy we're looking for her grave so I see a picture of online I think it's one of the bigger ones here so we'll keep looking see if we can find any others from 1849 as well oh here's John well here's another one of their children here's Jacob and Elizabeth West John but he died in 1847 only follow only five weeks old whoops I'm not showing that only five weeks old so they lost a young child even two years before the flood Wow [Applause] here's a Sarah wife of Roswell died 1847 let's be before the flood Franklin there's a Mary Francis 1863 who were looking for all right well I had turn the camera off for a while look and here I found her Elizabeth daughter of said Isaac and Suzanne Gould born it's a 1820 something here is died October thirtieth 18-49 here's Lizzy this is her grave right here she's what supposedly haunts this cemetery cuz I don't I don't see her nor do I really want to see her you know that would make a great YouTube video if she just Austin showed up and started walking around but as part of you would like that but it was a big part of me though no how about not so I don't really feel any you know anything here though either so feels pretty peaceful here except for the the traffic down there [Applause] Yeah right over there is Elizabeth and right here is her brother Winfield there's a name son of Isaac and Susan gold he died February 16th 1850 now he didn't die in the flood but from what I read anyway for that noise traffic to go away for motorcycles yay thanks for partying on my video anyway Winfield he did not die during the flood but uh my read online he died as a result of the flood because that night you know I guess he he got he was it he got too much exposure that he was pretty young only a couple months or a couple maybe less than two years old he was still an infant he was pretty young and he got too much exposure and he died like that was October 30th so basically Oh November November December you know so in February he died of just I guess he got a cold or something and eventually died from that night of the flood so he really didn't die in the flood he died a result of the flood so that's kind of trysting so still walking around this is just really interesting seeing the family history here see here's another daughter of Isaac and Susan Gould so this would have been Elizabeth's sister Susan she was born 1832 died in 1836 so four years old or less so here's another one of Elizabeth's siblings that died it's interesting you see a lot of family history just by walking around there's when these military graves it has the flag this is a new one for me here if someone wants to tell me I feel I thought it was Civil War but it's not he died he died in 1908 oh no no Oh his wife Oh his wife is Berger - he died in 1922 she died in 1908 so but I don't know so we could tell me what POS stance were something something of America has a number number 341 Pennsylvania over there it's a big one to me so I'll look it up - when I get home see what that stands for it's a lot of times these there's little what do you call them they're usually for the Civil War Revolutionary War stuff like that I've seen one for war of 1812 over wine and stuff like that but that's a new one to me not familiar with it so anyway or you can mention the comments probably look around for just a little bit more kind of really peaceful here except for the traffic I don't dislike motorcycles but when they drive by they do make a lot of noise it's a beautiful day to be out riding your motorcycle - so they can do it I don't I hope just like people on motorcycles let's when I get that make that clear cuz I kind of complained about it earlier they can do their sitting as well not seen any other flood victims here but there's a lot of small tombstones here too that who knows who's all buried here they have no names on or anything there's some up here some more up there just field stones so who knows all right well well look around for just a bit more no take a few pictures and then you'll start heading home well I got some cool pictures I think yeah this is a real easy Cemetery to get you like I said it's kind of sort of right across from the park office off to off the side of it you got across the highway which can be pretty busy so but like always if you do come to place like this just respect the tombstones you don't have to come here and do anything stupid so but you know it's not a terribly well-known location you know there's tons of people there's the shades of death trails right down there's all kinds of people walking on a road cars everywhere but up here it's just me so what's up which I'm okay with we're pretty much okay with you know prefer not to have tons of people up here so just respectfully if you do come here all right I hope you enjoyed this little adventure it's a little haunted graveyard it kind of has it abandoned field but you know at the same time it's right next to Road so but uh I didn't see Lizzie head Hall walking around so if I were her I wouldn't be walking around today either it's two too many people around so all right I'm gonna head back down the hill to my jeep and hopefully I'll be able to pull out of here go home hoping there's some ice cream in the freezer yet we'll see anyway as always thanks for watching these videos and coming along with me all these adventures I'll see you around [Applause] you
