hey everybody its Ryan welcome back to how farms work so today we are in my truck and we have the flatbed on the back so yesterday we went through the trailer replaced a couple lights on it and what I'm going to be doing today is taking a couple of those square fodder bales that I made earlier earlier last month and I'm going to be taking them to and hate to a hay auction in Monticello so Hannah's family's JCB is ahead of us we're gonna be loading square bales on the flatbed and then I'm gonna be hauling at about 40 miles to Monticello and hoping that they sell if they don't they'll be going somewhere else but we're gonna head to the field and get the bales loaded I gotta stop in and get some fuel real quick so that is in fact not our JCB that is a 260 eco and ours is a telescope so I'm heading out to the field now great the pros of the ground I didn't realize his name was Andy - yeah the three spiteful to bail better just got loaded up with 20 square bales we're gonna head to - ole and go to the auction the trucks handling this road pretty well I haven't had any issues with it the exhaust brake on this thing comes in handy especially when I'm coming down some those deeper hills but otherwise I mean we're doing pretty good those two bills on top keeping a close eye on them but they don't seem to be moving they shouldn't be because they're all strapped down but I just want to make sure that they don't move out of my line of sight you know the auction starts it I think nude and they say to be there on 10:30 we're gonna be there at ten forty four at this pace you know all I need in life is the confidence level of the people who tailgate me with a full load of bales on the back all right we just showed up we've got about an hour and ten minutes until the sale starts there's a lot of hay and fodder here already I got a spot down here on the end of this row now it's time to wait now that JCB 260 eco power boom that they used to load this with I actually drove that the other night and I was driving it between two farms and since with our telescas a second higher gear so I got the feeling around I'm like I wonder if this thing has a higher gear and I hit that button and talk about whiplash that that thing moves like I'm pretty sure it goes about 10 miles an hour or better like it flies whereas with the Telus kid it goes a little bit faster than the Bobcat that we have I'd say about six miles an hour the ads there's a huge difference there between that wheeled skid loader and our Telus Candace far as speed but that's typical at track machines typically track machines are only gonna go up to a certain speed whereas the wheeled ones are gonna go faster but just kind of blew me away cuz I hit that button and I mean we just took off I'm probably gonna go outside and find something mark Jim bill take healty Elinor 261 Dale's 20 bucks avail first fellow right here what's up oh yeah farms all right yep so we're now in Argyle I just dropped the bales off after they sold on the auction the ones I had on sold for 18 and another load that was being set up sold for 20 which isn't super fantastic they can get 25 out of these so they might as well keep selling them for 25 I'm passing through Argyle now I'm heading back to pick up another another load of eight round bales that need to go to Coon Valley I think it's the name of the place that's kind of cool jet there whoa now that's a crane 1100 hours this JSONP isn't so bad kind of like it it's speedy the Telus kid that looks like that the handy tool to have when you're loading a little for beaters yeah I love that thing I think it's gonna be staying but I don't know for sure that help is gonna be staying because if money wasn't nice putting in new tracks on it or what well I'm thinking about it if we keep it but I talked to some people in there like yeah your attraction isn't gonna be much better that's just like a trait of those track machines that have poor traction and snow let's see it's such a bad deal we get to interview him for yeah the OTAs remember us chopping silage on the second thaller farm bending his dad stopped over and said hi so that was cool seeing Ben and his dad again if you guys are interested in seeing the chopping video where I shot on their farm they were running a big chopper but I visited their farm for a day and that was really cool so go over here into the info card check out that video if you're interested so I put a lot of work and time in an editing in that video so I just finished loading up these round bales I have to go pick up a receipt book as well as another package then I was told to pick up two if so what do you say we head that direction I'd see him what are you doing here oh no it's looking hour and a half drive you're the one complaining I got a ride with you being a deer and me do you it's been nice and quiet all day long and here you are no one right there's doing some moving keeping so how school school I gotta go it's Friday at least so I bet you had land your head all day long every time somebody said Friday I singing it come here often we just got here it was 119 point 3 miles that we drove it's a TCB yeah so second day now I don't even know where we're going with this load but we went and hooked up to another heavier trailer we need to fit 34 bales on so this one has eight wheels so it should be able to handle more weight this one's a Mustang but it's like a four-hour drive one way so should be fun it's one of the rare times I'm drinking coffee you never catch me drinking coffee because I don't do it off this is where I would have a like a sponsored ad if I was like oh yes Folgers coffee to go nuts nuts berries brothers Shh they're not paying for this hey guys it's Hannah welcome back to how far his work we're hauling fodder bales today up north four and a half hours it's gonna be fun real fun at least I have prime entertainment sit next to me feel bad for you cuz all I'm gonna be doing is driving yeah I'm probably gonna be sleeping yeah it's snowing and she gets it fix this one please nope all right we just stopped the gas station Jeremy filled up we are gonna head to northern Wisconsin it's three and a half hour drive it's in the middle Wisconsin technically to me I mean since we're southern Wisconsin basically everything's north all right he's gonna be following us after about 50 miles we're gonna stop and check the straps because I noticed that the bales in the back we're doing some shifting so we put another strap back there just to try to keep everything in place I think this is the biggest workout this truck has ever gotten you know it's pretty great ones to die what the heck what did you see that oh good little shack little shack you have to cut up people's bodies so we're just cruising along and all of a sudden we hit a 90-degree turn and then it turned into this and we were like going downhill us convinced we're about like two seconds away from hitting the ditch luckily this is kind of straight but we're two minutes away if we were traveling speed limit or a mile and a half away literally like it's solid ice well the address took us back there so it's not unreasonable for me to think okay I'm gonna turn in here now you may be asking yourself at this point Brian what is there's seven large square bills in your machine shed well the question guys I just asked myself the same thing I'm gonna go to bed boy we just brought the trailer back it's starting to snow so we're unhooking this year okay all right toe mirrors in because I'm not cool enough to drive with him out when I'm not pulling a trailer I'm not in that Club there you go so we're back home I went and helped out and his family for the weekend to get the square bales moved now unfortunately on the way back we had an issue the other truck that I went up to northern Wisconsin with broke down and the transmission had some issues with it we were coming down the interstate and I got off the exit and I was pulling out after the stop and there was a car coming which he wasn't anywhere near me I wasn't sure what the heck was going on but he blurred his horn and I couldn't figure out why well I didn't realize that the guy who I was traveling up there with was as close to me as he was but he had no power in his truck and he pretty much rolled through the stop sign and got the truck off to the side of the road which luckily I pulled over because after the car honk at me I thought I might be like dragging something so I went out and checked all the straps and as I was checking the straps the other driver got out and checked the opened the hood and he said I don't have any power well there's steam rolling out from underneath the truck and we think the transmission got hot on that dodge and pretty much just blew out the dipstick now I'm not totally sure what the issue could be there hopefully it's not as serious as it could be but I don't know if that truck has a transmission cooler or not I would think it would but it's a no 4 I believe and it's got 350 thousand miles on it and what I'm thinking that might have happened this is just me kind of guessing is that the transmission got hot it blew out that dipstick because I noticed after he popped the hood there was oil transmission oil everywhere it was all over the inside of the hood it was running down the passenger side of the truck and the dipstick was pulled out and asked him did you pull this out and he said no so we're thinking that it got hot they blew that dipstick out and it was the oil out through the dipstick hole and if it's low on transmission fluid then there's a possibility it could have just locked up the transmission he can't he couldn't get it out of Drive so I'm thinking maybe just possibly all it needs is some transmission fluid but since it was pretty late what I told him is just at this point we need to just Park the truck alongside the road lock it up and leave so he rode back with us and we got snow that next day they called the Sheriff's Department let him know that it was up there and the cop said well you got to get it moved tonight because there was snow coming in the morning so they got it towed for like 1600 but tolling insurance should have covered that there's just an unfortunate circumstance all the way around and I didn't record it because well in a situation like that I just didn't really feel comfortable because he was pretty upset and I feel pretty bad for him because I don't really think there's a whole lot he could have done so I'm waiting to hear what the problem is on that but for now this coming week we're going down to the National Farm Machinery Show so if you guys are at NF MS I will be in the Unruh fourth booth from Wednesday through Thursday and Friday 11 to noon in the end for Earth booth in the West Wing and yeah this coming next week my plan to take this and this is part of our payment for hauling so we're we're just gonna sell this on auction and mean the other driver are gonna split it hopefully it comes for a pretty good price so it should cover I would imagine it's going to cover everything that we spent and all the trucking costs to take the stuff up there so anyway that's pretty much it for this video thanks for watching guys be sure to check out all of our
