Hauling 78 Foot Sticks of Rail in the Snow

[Music] good morning nice morning this [Music] morning 26° and we got depending on somewhere around here we got 3 to 4 Ines of snow last night there we [Music] go nice to have two trucks doing this it's a bit difficult to do it with one truck but it can be [Music] done [Music] you need some help buddy hold on I got to go up there and help this [Music] guy I have to chain these things down on that cart [Music] okay I guess we're going to change some rails somewhere up by the prep plan I'm not exctly sure but uh I got to go up with that grapple truck get them unloaded that rails rolled over trying to get it rolled [Music] [Music] back [Music] oh he got it [Music] wonderful that rail is not that old I don't remember I think it was I think it's 2023 rail by Stilton and obviously all that's snow on here I can't see a mill brand so [Music] TR to get it cleaned up see if I can find a mill brand on [Music] it okay we got them loaded up here going to head up track got them tied down we don't have a tongue between these two TR uh trailers but uh that'll work with them tied down like that very good this guy's going to go down and start uh picking up uh used ties and stuff materials and uh I'm going to head up track with this grapple truck and get them offloaded got big plans change the and curve six on the high side and put a bunch of new ties in there and new tie plates okay great you stay tuned well I guess we'll see how far we make it up the hill h Huh wouldn't be bad if it wasn't all these curvs in here lucky said he couldn't make it up here C Bucky in the in the snow he didn't he didn't even try it but we got the got a professional operator today huh we'll see does all your G greasers work here yes sir they're still on right yes sir doing okay so far no problem at all it's cake can it yes sir we got uh 4 78t sticks how much weight we got back there five pieces of rail and uh 48 I mean8 pieces nine pieces we've only got uh maybe 5 tons plus your whatever your carts weigh yeah carts are about 3500 lb a piece at 7,000 about 8 p [Music] okay I don't think we've slipped at all have we uh-uh nuh we right through here we'll be all right there ain't that much snow on the ra gets slick my my truck gets slick that single axle yeah wants to spin that little highrail truck goes pretty good but don't get stopped on you cuz then you got you got a lot of spinning when you're getting started out you know oh yeah you did wonderful guys out walk dog down there is your buddy going to follow us up he was loading some Ties on yeah I me is he going to follow us all the way up he'll have to come down and get each car I didn't know if you were going to load it up on here or bring it back or what he going to go on he's going to bring his somebody down there walking a dog yeah he said that uh it was a dairy farm over here you knew that yeah they said that guy used to sell goats milk to the hospitals have you ever drank goats milk oh yeah we used to milk goats all the time I have never drank goat mil my son was raised on goat milk yeah I I have never drank it you got it made now it's all downhill ain't it oh yeah we're we're in good shape this is the worst of it steepest of it I don't like this curve here on the other side of the tunnel that um got another little bit of a grade about a 1.75 going up into the mine but that gives me some problems sometimes we had snow on the rail I my big high rail truck it took me 25 minutes to go from bridge one up to the plant just sitting there just spinning trying to get [Music] traction okay wonderful wonderful wonderful wonderful why did they run them water lines alongside the bridges rather than board through the corck try to save [Music] money cost a lot of money to pour yeah it does a lot of money how much they got tied in the electricity they put in here to keep that freezing I don't know it's rled out over a period of time I realize that but they don't come in and put these pole lines up for nothing no I slug like crazy we don't have any ballast in here do we okay I'm spinning a little right here are you once once you get up in here then you then I'm okay it's just this uh right through there gives me a problems got some cribbing done up here too huh yeah they crib from here clear down okay okay looks like the line on the curve stayed pretty decent didn't mess that up he left a few spots in here didn't crib out trying to hold the track operator to watch him you know don't go in Hyer yeah yeah I figured we'd be hauling bot today I don't know if we could have that ballot probably freezing that car coming up here yeah tomorrow supposed to get up to 38 38 I imagine and problem Bal in that pile down there Maple Town's probably Frozen too got some ties in here are these spiked I think these are spiked down there's a the new ties right around this turn here okay I think they Spike down to there and then from there on if there was two ties together Charlie's Spike and he didn't find out that a damn train was coming out last night we was just going to leave it open yeah and called him late in the afternoon well the train wants to run tonight how about that Jerry said he went pretty slow down through there I don't you know at least he didn't mess the track up course he had an empty train unless he had maybe I don't know how many 10 cars on it maybe loaded so we got all these to put in yet yeah they com TI gang's coming back Monday I I don't know what's going to happen I hear that a bunch of ties put in up here I know they're going to put B uh I think every other tie up here in curve six yeah I got them spread okay well we got it up here here what we're going to do they're going to do is uh change every other tie in this curve it's curve six which there's a bunch of bad ties in here and we got a dump truck down there dumping the new tie plates for us we got this thing stuck can't get it out we'll get it try to uh maybe bar this over I don't know anyway this is 2020 rail by Stilton well you think when he Pi that last piece of stick off of there Charlie it'll uh derail the cart we'll [Music] see dog G don't you know he got him loaded the only thing he had to mess around a little bit with him but he got him loaded the only thing bad about doing yourself they was taking a chance of yeah they were uh they got some pretty good Flex in them when he pick them up there find out how good your weld [Laughter] is nice that Richard's good isn't he yeah yeah we didn't time we carrying it had four sticks on there and Rand and unloaded three of them we were coming up curve 8 to unload another one and down there on the other side of bridge to it wasn't tied down yeah real cart flipped but then he he got him he got it to pick the rail carts up and Drug it up all right we'll see what happens can you check the wheel on that car Charlie uh-oh nice that Richard's smart lucky yeah Lucky's a good man yeah okay yeah he's big he's a big star now star of the show yeah him and Richard [Music] yeah okay it's postcard weather out here today postcard weather make a nice postard picture yeah it is pretty cool to ride ride the rails and when the snow Yeah thing is the when the snow's over top of the rail then it's a little uh like there's nothing out there but white yeah I haven't I haven't experienced that yet you got to you got to have some Faith the rail is still there it's really why we've had come up in the locomotive and that's why I say all you can see is white in front of you you don't you you can uh that' be pretty neat too little [Music] scary but you get used to it we haven't had a lot of snow for a lot of years though what's your uh nice track speed for for the train 25 we usually do about 18 15 to 18 in the track equipment oh okay okay we're doing good here it's a nice ride they usually have joining rail ride that's actually halfway smooth well sure it would be nice if we got all welded rail but all these joints we got that's what we got yeah yeah actually most of our ra tracks pretty decent most of it you got some bad spots but we're getting getting them taken care of yeah so always something to do on the railroad all right okay we had two grapple trucks I rode the uh second grapple truck back but I thought you guys would get a kick out of this what he's got in here pretty cool huh yeah so first grapple trucks up there he's picking up used ties and uh this guy here is going to pick up some ties down to our right way down track TI gang was way down here uh think we started at Bridge n and headed towards the harbor so there you
