Harvesting Straw Bales New Holland H9870 Stack Cruiser

[Music] [Music] hi big tractor power fans this video comes to you from a Western Kentucky winter wheat field ray New Holland h98 70 stack Cruiser is automatically collecting small square bales of straw in this video we're gonna spend time out in the field with this machine talk about its specifications production history and price tag will follow it through the entire collection process picking up the bales of straw heading down the road and emptying out an entire stack of 161 bales at the barn but first let's head out to the field so you can see in here this machine at work this farm is producing 14 by 18 by 36 inch bales of straw that weigh around 45 pounds they're being produced by a pair of John Deere 348 small square Baylor's Kentucky where this field is located is famous for the horse racing industry especially the Kentucky Derby held on the first Saturday in May at Churchill Downs located in Louisville Kentucky the bales of straw from this field will head to Churchill Downs and to horse farms in Lexington Kentucky to provide bedding for the equine industry the Baylor's are traveling at 1.4 miles per hour across the field collecting a window of straw that is comprised of 22 feet of crop material the combine harvest the wheat 22 feet at a time processes the grain and straw putting the wheat seeds up in the grain bin of the combine and then depositing the straw in a windrow back on the field for the Baylor's to pick up and produce into a square Bell in a good day the farm will produced four thousand and twenty five bells with these two john deere 3:48 Baylor's with over four thousand bales of straw laying out in the field the farm needs a way to pick those up and move them back to the farm quickly because this field will be planted into a second crop of soybeans the job goes to the New Holland h98 70 stack Cruiser this automatic Bale wagon will pick up 161 bales at a time and in a good day it will have 25 loads picked up from the field and deposited back at the barn [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I often see people on websites like new AG talk talking about and fondly remembering the red and yellow Sperry New Holland stack cruisers and automatic Bell wagons like the model 10 69 we see here collecting bales of straw in western New York State one of the questions that often comes up from people is just New Holland still make the automatic Bale wagon and the answer is yes the company has been producing stacked cruisers for 57 years the model h98 70 that we see working in this video was introduced in 2007 and was produced at the New Holland Factory in Grand Island Nebraska it's powered by a new holland 6.7 liter engine rated at 173 horsepower this machine is equipped with an allison 2500 rugged duty service five-speed automatic transmission with the capability of traveling up to 10 miles per hour in the field collecting square bells and has a recommended speed of 30 miles per hour on the road it features a 74 gallon diesel fuel tank and is most often set up to collect 14 by 18 bales that are 36 to 41 inches it can pick up 161 bales at a time and weighs in at 16,000 130 pounds from the factory according to new holland comm a model year 2019 stack cruiser capable of picking up 161 14 by 18 bells is two hundred and twenty nine thousand four hundred and one dollars this machine is definitely a big investment for a farm but when you're trying to produce four thousand bales of straw in a day and there's always the risk of a pop-up thunderstorm in the month of June when this straw is being produced it sure is handy to have that machine collecting up the bales and making sure that they're back in the barn by the evening the automatic bow Magon predates New Holland it was first invented in the 1950s in Fowler California by Gordon gray and his brother-in-law Bill Wilson the machine was originally called the Harrow bed named after Gordon's daughter Deborah Harrow bed is simply Deborah spelled backwards the original machine cost about $15,000 back in the 50s and in 1962 Sperry New Holland acquired the Harrow bed and renamed it the stack cruiser Johan has been producing the stack cruiser automatic Bal wegen continuously for 57 years and now we're going to head out to the field to see one of the latest versions the h98 70 collect 161 bales raced back to the farm deposit a
