all right we're doing the triglide trike thing today with the Harley triglide and the Raco pure Explorer GT I'm going to tell you everything you need to know about these two motorcycles how they steer How They Ride storage talk about all the things that are important to you if you have gotten to the point where a motorcycle is no longer feasible but you're not ready to commit to a cage just yet hopefully this video will help you out and I'm going to tell you which one I like the best and why at the end of the video so maybe add of necessity or you just like Tripes whatever the reason is hopefully if you like this video you'll consider subscribing and hit your notifications and join the community right here this is all big thanks to American biker in Lon South Carolina if you need a used Tri life or use Raco new Raco new Indian whatever come talk to Rob an American biker big thanks to these guys if you never seen my reviews welcome but what I do is you know maybe different from what you see in other places on the internet right I will take give you my honest opinion on both I'll tell you what I like and what I don't like and that's just the only way I know how to review everything it is that I review from motorcycles to guns and games so I just want to say there is a slight age difference here and I say slight kind of loosely 2022 2016 remember on the 2016's obviously you know things were much different back then the new Tri Glide you have the 114 which is a really strong motor that's what I have in my rad Glide and then electronic differences as well but I don't want to so much focus on what this one doesn't have because it's not as new I really want to focus on what they both have as they sit because while there may be some things and there are some things on the newer ones that the you know Harley's put into these trikes it's not going to change a lot for what we're doing here so I just want to mention that first first thing I want to look at here are the fairings so when you look at the Harley it is that traditional batwing fairing that made these things so popular you have a little bit taller windshield here of course and you have really solid lighting straight from the factory LED day makers both sides here for your auxiliary lamps you do have halogens below that but this lighting right here is fantastic so really nice job there you got these big 49 mm forks and then of course you have a full fender with your reflectors up here or your light up here you have the reflectors on the side dual disc brakes up front and that looks like an enforcer wheel if one of y'all know I'd love to hear what it actually is when you look at the racco much more slim down it's kind of squared off in here and then it starts to round off so you have these really sharp lines on this thing from the little piece that sticks over the LED headlamp by the way that does have a ring too LED ring so it's like a really kind of sharp edges is how this fairing is designed really interesting and then of course you have a big full Fender right here and you have a single disc up here in the front by the way I really like the wheels that they put on the front of this Raco another thing that you have are these lower fairings right here now you'll notice they're not as solid as something like the Harley right it doesn't move at all now one thing this has too are your radiators because it is a twin cooled as well so it has you know coolant that uh circulates around the head and around the exhaust valves to lower some of the heat that you're going to feel and some of obviously the heat in the engine which bumps up the torque and stuff a little bit but it is really more solid here as far as your lower fairings compared to the rakum and then we have some auxiliary lamps on either side of our fairing actually do like how they kind of tucked that design in there and just made for a really Sleek kind of setup we got our turn signals right there we have little mirrors right there and then we got an LED strip under those halogens so you know kind of cool let's look at the inside of the fairings now this is one of the areas that I was talking about that they've kind of changed up mainly with the new boom GTS system this is the older one um and so it's still a pretty usable system you can tell the processor is a little bit slower from the new ones let's see navigation and this is a 6.5 in screen they actually had them with the 4 3 in screens 4.5 in screens uh as well which did not have navigation so you can see that took a little while to get this thing up it is a little bit older system but if we pull up the map it will work with gloves it's just this is the advancement in technology over the past you know 78 years I mean it's it's really come a long way on these motorcycles and so while it's not the best at least you do have navigation on this motorcycle and then we got physical buttons and of course it's a touchcreen as well we also have our auxiliary lamp button right there so we can turn that off and on we got some blanks right here if we want to add additional uh you know Heat gear or lighting or whatever we want to do handlebars come slightly back out to you just like a Street Glide we have reverse on this motorcycle on this trike I mean uh it has the hydraulic clutch uh by the way I really like having a reverse on this trike push to talk you know you have your turn signals high beam low beam cruise control all that kind of stuff and then of course we have our keyless ignition right here security system you have this little Port right here so you can plug this in if you want to talk to your honey if y'all both have headsets or whatnot fuel tank 6 gallon tank on this trike so you can see the inside of the fairing specifically the screen right here you actually have physical buttons on the side which will give you some options here you know like a an analog tachometer spedometer we have a memory button right so we have some things here but it's not touchscreen nor is there any kind of navig a on this one at all which is really surprising these things are made in Germany by the way and so for them not to have Incorporated navigation kind of a bummer now if you have it on your phone or something if you look at the steering head right here you have plenty of space where you can mount your phone and so that won't be so much of a problem you can see how it almost has like this drag bar appearance to it we'll talk more about how it steers on the road of course you do have a Kenwood Audio System in here here so we can adjust our kinwood right there it almost reminds me of like 2010 technology uh some of this stuff at least the interfering does and then of course we have a little little Port little USB right there if you need that you have a USB port two of them actually right there you have this little leather piece right here here's your gear selector by the way we of course have reverse drive we have sport modes too so if you want to you know get a little crazy with it you can always go into sport mode you have a heated seat button right there so that's pretty cool that's kind of an upgrade that they do on these Trikes and then of course our key right here now if you guys don't know I actually have a gaming channel where I review various types of games and this right here looks like a Nintendo controller I almost wish it was a Nintendo controller cuz that'd be cooler than what they have right here uh if if you're not thinking Nintendo controller maybe apart from AutoZone or something I really hate the way this looks now we have a 10 gallon tank on this one and then you have these sport type of seats right here really nice so as opposed to sitting on the seat like a motorcycle whereas this one feels like a motorcycle this one almost feels like a convertible or something but you're just kind of sitting down in it okay so again I'll talk more about that stuff when we actually get on the road but a really wildly different feel to them and then you have these big grates right here so you have an adjustable uh Peg right here for your passenger we have a handbrake right here and there's also options where you can get like helmet carriers on either side this one actually has the passenger armrest they got a nice comfy chair and a headrest right there down here on the Harley it's set up just like a motorcycle we have big floorboards a brake pedal we of course have our riding pegs out here and then you can obviously see the engine and so this is a really you know attractive thing to a lot of motorcyclists that are forced to switch to a trike you know what I mean so that may be a selling point or the selling point for a lot of people but it's something I definitely want to point out is how wildly different they look the ralo is like 12 feet long okay so there's that you of course have a standard motorcycle seat your passenger has her seat up here okay and you know she has a full back rest so it's really comfortable but you know it just depends on on what you want whereas on the Harley she's going to get a little less room right on the Raco she's going to get her own seat but she's going to be sitting up a little bit taller too it's really wildly different one thing I do like that's not so much of a problem on the trikes as it is the big touring bikes is the fact that you have these big floorboards for your passenger these get in the way when I'm trying to back my bike up but like I said this one has reverse so we ain't too worried about that it's actually a nice option so your passenger is going to be really comfortable and then we have another Port over here everything needs to be Wireless now um which is not necessarily the case on even the newer Harley's but that's just my opinion little handrails right here for your passenger as well we got these big old fenders right here we got our brake lights big street tires right there and then of course we have our tour pack and so this is going to allow us to carry two full-size helmets plus some other stuff that you want it's lockable of course not only that we also have storage down here as well so just for reference my helmet which is on the bigger end may not fit in oh yeah there it goes yeah we could fit two fulls sizee helmets or overnight bags or you know pretty much whatever you want hopefully I can get this thing out yeah there we go so you have a little storage right there and of course your Tor pack as well we got the dual exhaust you know so other than the fact that it has three wheels it still functions and feels and looks like a motorcycle let's check out the Raco so this one of course is controlled with a a button on the key fob we open it up and we got a bunch of space back here so this is going to take the place of your Tor pack and that lower storage compartment one thing about this thing too is the rear end kind of looks like a Porsche to me so one of the cool things that Raco does is that with each model the rear end changes obviously the front will change a little bit so you kind of get this different feel across the lineup depending upon the model you go with you could get one that looks totally different than this so I really do like that aspect they are I say custom but you know you kind of get that custom feel from them and you got a bunch of storage back there which is really nice if you're traveling you have the kind of Cho fenders over the wheel so it's more of an open setup you get to see the full wheel right there and part of the tire I personally like this aesthetic more just because it looks a little bit cleaner to me the back of the triglide looks a little bit like a PT Cruiser I I don't know why I get that that feel from it you got dual exhaust in the rear now one big thing that we're going to talk about on the road are the engines so let me go ahead and get my helmet on and we'll talk about more of the things that really start to differentiate these two trikes I like how this one has the release right there boom you hit it you're done I'm looking for a kickstand I don't have let me go and just start by saying this one feels like a motorcycle cycle right I shocking yeah but it but it really does like my seating position you know my controls I have my clutch I got my brakes you know everything feels like a motorcycle until until you go to steer and you're like okay yeah this is not a motorcycle the steering on this one it's got like a heavy feel to it I don't know if that makes sense but when we get on the Raco I know that one steer's a little bit different it just feels lighter to me on the racco I don't know we'll once we get on that and I'll be able to tell you a little bit more so it's not necessarily a problem for me personally but if somebody is getting into these because of you know Mobility or stability issues accident whatever maybe that's a deterrent to you that's how the 14 was when I did that video way back when it just felt really heavy in the steering so that could be something that they fixed on the 23s too I'm not really sure but just talking about this one so my controls feel really familiar you know now I got my turn signals one on each bar I got my four gauges like a street glider and Ultra I just kicked my feet out my knees are down where they're not sticking up feels really comfortable if I want to use those riding pegs I can obviously do that too the suspension feels a little rough this one's got 8,000 Mi that's nothing that's a nice looking truck right there I like that color you can feel the torque in this engine but I can also tell you how it definitely has a little more vibration than the 114 we actually have lowers right here we can open I think yeah there we go and let some of that air Escape yeah cool fall is upon us boys it was a long brutal summer but here we are I'm so glad this thing by the way is um 1230 lb 1250 lb something like that but how much does that really matter to you we ain't got to balance nothing yeah we got our little vents right here of course we can open or close that I'm going to keep them closed right there all in all it's a it's a pretty freaking cool machine we can of course cycle through our options with the back button remaining mileage total mileage trip one trip two I've spent a little bit of time with the old twin cams it's interesting how much they have smoothed the 114's out it it is really noticeable uh between the two for sure we can hook up our phone right there if you want to pretty much all your storage is in the back of these things now this would be one reason to upgrade to the newer ones in and of itself the new boom GTS system is Lighty years better especially that navigation it might be an older high output twin cam but she will still get up and go I would be really interested to see if you had like the um the Road Glide fairing how much smoother it would be you know you kind of get that little that that buffing uh because of that fairing design and I do do have this open too by the way yeah if we close that makes a little bit of a difference let's see what happens when we open these and then open this maybe a little less buffing a little more side to side movement it's not bad though I'm really impressed with this uh with the twin cam in this thing it is still strong sounds good needs a set of reinh Hearts but other than that it still sounds strong you know of course it only has 8,000 Miles too this thing is just really easy to drive one thing about it too is the um the torqu of the motor that's that's what Harley's are known for so I can you know hit the throttle in fifth gear going 70 and I'm not going to be winning any land speed records or anything like that but it just pulls you forward man and just gets up to speed really a nice balance think the the horsepower on these things if we were going for horsepower ratings is like 85 it ain't much but it's got a lot of torque does a fairly decent job with the suspension you know it doesn't feel too harsh I think I hit a bump back there on that other road we were on that kind of caught my attention you know for most of the customers that would be into something like this or buying something like this I would think you would want that steering to feel as light as possible in the corners maybe not I don't know and there could be a way to lighten it as well here's our horn all right back in the saddle of the rako so instantly the first thing you notice is it feels nothing like a motorcycle I say that again because if you're transitioning from a motorcycle to something like this that basically feels like I'm in a open convertible car or something that's the way the seat feels anyways I don't want people to think oh yeah this is like a convertible it's not it's not at all but it it has that feeling with the seat you know my back is fully supported and it honestly feels really nice I love the way that turbo sounds when it starts spooling up the steering is much easier on this thing it's it's even much easier than the other Explorer the red one we did you know that one felt like you know kind of like the Harley does this one is like minimal pressure to actually steer this thing I like this a lot yeah now we could go into sport mode and use the little shifters over here but it's not really that fun if I'm being honest with you yeah I'd much rather keep it in automatic it's a seven-speed transmission 10g tank 140 horsepower turbocharged monster I promise you here we're going to be able to go a little bit faster once we get from behind this truck so uh yeah right now I'm just leisurely cruising in this thing and that's something you can do too you can just kind of cruise along and I could I could see myself going hundreds of miles a day on this thing with very little fatigue now we're about to see how it does on the interstate that fairing could deceive me may not as cut through the wind as good as I think it will but from what I see in the design I think it will you know these things started like 40 G you take the Harley triglide I want to say it's about the same you know $ 399 or whatever hey that's pretty cool the uh Skeleton on top of the car I like it but in the cockpit just from looking at the screen and the options Harley winds hands down you know the touch display well the speakers here aren't that bad and they're not that bad here it looks like a boat uh display right here and then this is just not that good so if you're big in electronics I don't know that the Raco is for you just throwing that out there this one steers so much easier brakes don't do that bad of a job I think it would be better with a dual disc but hey it is what it is Tank's got a really Slim feel so even though it's 10g you can see see how they kind of elongate that so you know it feels really comfortable right there if you have a passenger on the back you know on a motorcycle or a trike or anything like that you guys are going to kind of be you know right on top of each other for for the most part something like this you can throw your honey on the back and you guys will never know each other is there oh this one is much firmer than that Harley though yeah you feel every little bump especially right there yeah the Harley has much more of a plush ride to it for sure I will say comes with two fobs right there we can release our trunk with the fob we ain't got to get down there like you do on the Harley press a button and all that kind of junk you know and then have to lock it manually this one as far as your your entry is much better by the way they fix the whole 10-step process that you had to do to be able to start these things you turn the key you hit the starter boom boom you're good to go we of course have reverse on this one there's another aspect to this that I haven't really mentioned and that's heat because I don't have an engine up under me I obviously am not getting all that heat so it's another thing to consider yeah this thing Cuts right through the wind it is a noticeable difference between this and the Harley that's why I'd be interested to see with a Road Glide fairing on that trike how much better it would do at 7 80 M hour each one you're going to get a smoother ride on this you're going to get faster acceleration on this you're going to get an automatic transmission if that's something you even want I mean that's up to you you also have the sport mode of course yeah there's a couple more things I definitely want to mention that can have a big impact on this conversation in this comparison so let's go and get back to the shop and then we'll talk about some of those other things here all right so let me tell you where I'm at prosen cons all this stuff and tell you which one I like the best aesthetically the Harley because it looks more like a Harley everything else really feels like Harley it looks like Harley and I really enjoy that so if I'm thinking about myself older or accidents or whatever that does come into play Man Aesthetics with motorcycles and trikes is obviously a big thing by the way I did see where Raco can customize your trike if you are in a wheelchair which that is pretty freaking cool man so I just wanted to point that out so aesthetically I like the Harley more the rear ends of them I like the racco better it looks cleaner I also like the trunk and the space in the trunk better than the Tor pack and kind of lower trunk area on this one I like the rear fenders better on the Raco honestly with all the grading and stuff on the Raco and all the room you get I'm I would still be just as happy with the big floorboards and the riding pegs so that's kind of a wash there uh probably actually aesthetically I kind of like this better one thing on the lighting I've mentioned the in the past too is you have this nice LED in the front then it's mixture with h Hallens and then LED strips and there's a lot of light which I'm a fan of and I like how they tucked it into the fairing I just wish it was all LED and look the same it' just be a much cleaner look like the wheels better on the Raco like the openness of the rear wheel there seating Rago this thing is comfortable man if you just want to get in the open air and have one of the most comfortable positions you're going to sit lower of course but this is really comfortable gear selector all of that if you just want to go this is good if you want to be more like a motorcycle which you're used to this obviously is the way to go it is a motorcycle and I keep saying that because I'm thinking about people that are forced to kind of switch from motorcycle to trike it's not always the case but this obviously is going to be less comfortable because it is a motorcycle whereas this is more kind of like a a car almost engine and performance here this is a big one man the 103 even the 114 is going to be super tky it's probably going to be everything you ever needed whereas this 140 horsepower Mitsubishi turbocharge 1.5 or 1.6 is awesome dude this thing is a lot of fun to drive and that throttle is responsive and it's quick they just have two totally different feels where you could you know pull a freaking stump out of the ground with this one this one's going to get you up to speed a heck of a lot quicker it's really a cool and you hear the turbo and all that I really like it so as far as the engines you're not going to get the heat on this one you get to see your engine here it's a traditional v twin I don't know man maybe one of the things you need to consider too is service you know now from what I'm told any dealer that deals with Raco they will over night parts to you if you're ever in a situation where you need to do that I really like the way this engine responds I like the sound I like all that this one has so much torque I think I'd almost be happier with this one but it's not as fun to drive like this one is fun to drive this one is nothing like a motorcycle in the way it rides so it makes it less fun you know I'm still thinking about the engines here but also the way they ride is much different too so if you just want to have fun this might be the way to go it's plus it's way easier to steer this Raco than it is this TR you know when it comes to engine I really don't know how to answer that because again there's unforeseen things here yet you know you have dealer support here and like I said they are supposed to be pretty good if you have experience with that I'd love to hear from y'all if you've had a you know unfortunate breakdown you're doing a touring trip those are the unforeseen things that just make me hesitate on the Raco as it stands right now so while I think it's maybe a little more fun to ride I think I would trust the Harley more for sure and uh especially like a 114 version of this technology goes to Harley uh as far as like your electronics I think that a lot of people will be turned off from this simply because of the culture um at least this way you still have a Harley you get the Harley sound you get a lot of the Harley look and by the way these things they start at 40 but this one ain't 40 this one's used but new you know they uh they can go up to 50 that fairing is so ugly it just rides better but it also like some of the Plastics and the lower it just looks cheaper in some areas and the radio guys I I lean towards the Raco but I just trust the Mo and it seems everywhere is more solidly built than this there are some real things I think they need to look at on these rocos like those lowers and the and the screen and all that kind of stuff it just it's a turnoff for me on A40 plus thousand vehicle that's where I'm at with it I think I would go if I had to do it today with the triglide I am interested if the newer ones actually steer a little bit easier cuz that's a significant difference also the suspension is much better on the Harley this one's more firm like a sports car so there's that man love to hear your opinion if you have one of these two what made you go with that one specifically leave those things down below big thanks to you guys see you in the next one and as always hold them down
