Welcome Outsiders; for Horizon Zero Dawn,
I will show you three different settings for 1080p. One for the best looks at 30 FPS, another
targeting 60 FPS, and one that is nicely balanced. Here's a quick overview of the GTX 1650 GDDR
6 at various presets; I didn't get these numbers from the benchmark but from my demanding in-game
testing spot. Overall it struggles to hit 60 FPS at eye-candy
settings, but that's expected based on us falling a bit short of the recommended specs. Let's get into it, starting with the pretty
settings. This mix of High and Ultra overdraws the VRAM
slightly, but it's still managing it, and the frame rate stays above 30. You can see the occasional spike on the frame
time graph on the overlay, but it didn't feel bad while playing. Here are the settings. It's Ultra, but Shadows and Reflections are
on the High option, and Ambient Occlusion is on Medium. I didn't cap the framerate in this test, but
it might be a good idea to limit it to 30; maybe that would help eliminate those few
frame pacing issues. To achieve 60 FPS, we need to lower the settings
and use FSR upscaling. I used Ultra Quality upscaling here, but you'd
have to go with the Quality option if you don't want it to drop below 60. Here are the settings; it's the Favor Performance
preset but with increased texture quality. I sometimes saw the framerate drop to the
mid-50s, but combat in the foresty areas tends to be among the most demanding scenarios for
the GPU. And here are the balanced settings; I could
afford Ultra textures without overdrawing the VRAM, so I took that chance. The addition of Ambient Occlusion also makes
a stark difference to the visual quality. Ultra Quality upscaling helps here, and I
was happy with the result; the frame rate was between the low 50s and high 40 while
fighting the machines. Check out this playlist for more GTX 1650
tests.
