welcome to the golden trail world series race number three at the dollar miss run and oh boy is it gonna be a spicy [Music] meatball these are my notes on who is going to win today and they've completely changed the format it's already the shortest race in the season and they've cut the top due to the clouds so the technical terrain has changed and it's so short that we just can't call who's going to win in the men's it's such a stacked field it's more stat than a pancake eating competition we have the winners from the two previous races all here and the dear the local boy is the favorite on the downhill so he is someone to watch but there's also rumors that the orienteering world champions are all here to race and to see how they're going to perform so we just can't call it in the women's julius took six minutes of the down last time against maude and with no more here she has to be the clear favorite but it's the golden trail world series so it's not going to be that easy shayla avarice the sky race world champion is here and she does not turn up unless she can perform with so few other podium runners in the women's anyone can take it out of our top 20 and if they can't perform here they could be out for the season so i'm calling it once again it's the race of the season is the same with you yeah are you sure she's the same with you one for me one for you this one or this one welcome to the chaos family live did they sleep here today sleep what's that this is romeo and julieta my father this is mine not yours [Music] [Music] we've just heard a little bit more about the race and actually the changes aren't as significant as we first thought they've taken the very top off but it's still going to be only about five minutes shorter overall in time that's great for most of the races but we don't actually know where the athletes know all of that so it might be that we see some of the runners go out way too hard thinking that it's significantly less fingers crossed though it won't change the race too much hmm we've just been at the top to see all the race leaders come through it's not quite what i was expecting in the men's yeah remy was there of course he was but elf hussein was on his shoulder and they've built up a reasonable lead over the following pack you've got david day you've got bart you've got steven but two minutes ah you could see any of them coming through from here in the women's marcella is in the lead incredible she came fourth last time she's clearly building in confidence and judith isn't far behind i can't see anyone stopping judith she's just too close she's too strong on the down but in third we've got karina from mexico behind karina there is a pack of about three of them including iris who are chasing them down i don't know enough about her experience and know whether she can hold them on but with three behind who are strong including nuria and iris i'd be surprised if she can see it through for the podium at the end oh man here comes a downhill strap in [Music] people [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] it is going down quite literally and the lead has changed already in the men's and the women's judith has flown by marcella she's looking calm relaxed she's got to be home by now surely but can marcela hold on and in the men's steven's coming he's coming but it's not there yet remy's started to fade and alhassen is looking really strong i reckon it's going to be close 30 seconds at most between them by the time they get to the end so ah come on now has seen steve's knocking on the door baby [Music] hey we knew it was going to be exciting but i didn't know the lead was going to change in both the men's and the women's judith i thought would be leading by the top but marcella has been on form on her uphills and she had about a 45 second lead judith with her descending that's never going to be enough judith stormed past her and won her first race of the season which is going to be incredible for her confidence marcella held on wow she's come fourth three weeks ago second here could she be staying on the podium when we're in switzerland and in third karina from mexico she's not someone we've been paying attention to but she was in third at the top third at the bottom she's clearly an all-round athlete and we've really got to hope that she's going to continue the golden trail series because getting people from abroad into running is exactly what we're about and in the men's ah i mean nothing can stop steering but they truly tried remy went out hard with al hasine on his shoulder but in previous races el histina's really struggled and not been able to keep it up until the finish but he really really flew down that hill he took the lead but you can't stop steering it's his year it seems he was in sixth but he managed to come through for the win alhassen in second and in third joey haddon from switzerland he wasn't even in the top five at the top so he must be an incredible descender and we're heading to switzerland next so he's got a podium already let's hope he's racing again because he could really mix it up this season here comes the swiss we're back in three weeks for sierra now the biggest race in the season it's due this home so she's got to be challenging to try and tie the series with moores steven's not going gonna be here though he's off having a baby so we're gonna have a new winner and based on today's race it's wide open so stay tuned because oh boy it is gonna go off it's time to get ready for the classic of the classics the fast and the furious the mythical sierras in our race is back the age-old history of mountain runners being challenged by roadrunners repeats itself once again in this thrilling race where anything can happen this is the race with the highest density of elite athletes in the world the show is guaranteed see you on the 8th focus in switzerland for the first stage of the golden trail world series
