Grow pineapples from the store fast and easy

hey you guys you want to know how to grow a pineapple real easy and it's fun before i tell you how i'm gonna do this this is what i want you to do get your kids involved in this and have a contest all right so i'm gonna show you how to do this it's so easy and it's so fun take a little while but that's part of the fun so let's do this together so all i'm gonna do is go in here and grab a pineapple real quick and we're gonna get started you see i'm looking for a good right one like that really yellow yeah that's that's perfect that's perfect let's get that one all right you guys this is what we do we got the pineapple from the store the one we picked out the riper the better if you want a faster result so you want this all yellow if it's not all yellow you can leave this out and just let it get all yellow almost you could smell it from a distance that's how ripe you want it you take the top here and this how simple it is you literally come up on these branches like this because don't go the other way they'll poke you and just twist them just like that see that so all you're doing is this is what we're working with this is for dessert put that off to the side in here we're going to take off all of these petals bring them all the way up to about an inch or so because inside here sometimes you can even see the roots if they start showing good enough but not this one but let's check the more you peel the more you'll start to find let's just start peeling them you literally just peel them like you shucking corn they come right off and i'ma bring that up until i start to see some kind of roots if i don't see no roots i'ma just come up for about an inch let me show you look at what we found as soon as i cut the camera off you see what that is right there that's a root so the pineapple that you end up getting from the store if they're really really really ripe usually you'll see them start to root up here now i'm gonna peel this off so you can really see that see that it got roots already starting look at that the roots are already starting that's how you look for a good pineapple so we won't have to do too much so i'm gonna go up a little higher on this and just to get that away from the roots see if we got any more roots we don't even really need any more but for what we're going to do i want to move some of these leaves out of the way but as you can see that's what you're looking for if you don't have any it's okay it's just gonna take a little longer but if you have roots like that anywhere on that pineapple oh it's gonna go fast okay now i brought these up about an inch as you can see this is what we got left and this is all i pulled off that'll go in the compost but this is what we got now the next thing you're going to need you're going to need a jar and make sure when you get water make sure your water is distilled water do not get tap water the reason for that is all your tap water right out of the faucet has uh like chlorine in it and you can smell it what that does is kind of kill these roots because they're so delicate that water kills roots i'm not saying it won't work but don't you want your chances to be a little better so get you some distilled filtered water it works way better so let's do that right now okay so i'm gonna be getting water out of my berkey you don't need much don't fill it up don't fill it up because we might have to end up getting rid of some of that this is all we need though okay we got our water and all we're gonna do is set this right down in the jar like that like barely touching i just want that water to come up that one inch that we peeled off barely touching i just want those roots to touch so they can start absorbing some of this water that's it all you got to do is put it in a sunny window and leave it alone every now and then your water will get a little murky pour it out and put in some fresh distilled clean water again you don't want your water to get too funky because it'll mess everything up so just keep your water fresh like this and pretty soon this is what you're gonna have that this only takes about 30 days or so maybe a little more just depending on what you got but this is our exact results from doing exactly what i just showed you now let me pull them out here's the one we just did difference is these guys didn't have any roots at all none and this is what happened i'm going to show you exactly what they look like out of the water so what we're going to be doing today with those guys we're going to be planting them so we can end up getting something like this in the future okay so all we're going to do here i got a pot and i got some regular old potting soil with some i mixed a little bit of coco coir in there that's all i'm using nothing special any old potting soil the bag didn't even have a name on it it said potting soil so i'm gonna just fill up my little pot halfway about to there to that line all right now i'm just going to take my pineapple with the roots like this dig a little hole down here and gently just let them go in there and now slowly cover this up i'm gonna bring a little bit more soil over here sort of help it stand up a little bit i don't want to push too hard because i don't want to tear those roots off of the plant now if you want to you could actually plant this directly in the ground and there you have it now you got your very own pineapple plant all we're going to do now is the water that has been sitting in all these months i'm just going to water it in with his own water that is used to now put this somewhere where it won't get knocked over and it stays stable it's going to be a little wobbly for a while but once those roots kick in you won't be able to knock it over so there you go you guys you will go from this to having one of these ain't that beautiful that mug is about ready to come off too look at that it almost looked fake so look at that you'll be growing these right in your own backyard guava i hope this helped you get your kids together your family members and everybody try to do this take a little long but i'm telling you it's worth it all right they're from 7-3 i love you
