Here's a timestamp to in-car redline runs: https://youtu.be/lgMoTQLebTs?t=549. One helluva noise.

My LS7 twists 8K... but damn I hate budgeting for the valvetrain rebuild.

Always a winning combo for that high rpm scream and surreal sound.

[Applause] [Music] welcome back to bill biology we have a really awesome car and it's from this is Navy - Eddie 787 it's a third gender so I don't even know let's go check it out sup Dustin hey how are you high-fives going on Oh what's up there was a pound high-five I don't know what's going on he's that's fine so real quick what did you bring brought are 1987 Camaro as we like to refer to it as the D s easy cuz it's owned by Cal Tucker owner of a Detroit speed the S easy for her Detroit speed and engineering you got a third gen here it is beautiful it was actually on our summer shred law at SEMA and Kyle was out ripping areas well now we get to get a little more into it and get a little more details about what has been done to this car all the all the awesome upgrades and the products that your company makes we make a full line for this car for front and rear suspension this is the test car too so we could go out and beat up on the suspension and see if how it performs if we could break it and see how it held up so it's been rode America it's been the road course that Las Vegas there's a lot of autocross and venues across the country I think it's been like a buck 80 at Road America down the front straightaway whoop that's fast [Music] because you just had it at good guys yes we just come from a good guys show in Pleasanton California and we autocross sit there for two days nice so let's talk about the exterior then real quick what color is it it is GM bright blue metallic it's PPG paint it was a color 4/3 jeans back in the day oh so it's a factory color yes you know what's really rad about it this car gets driven it's all chipped up already street-legal driven on the street that's some ultimate street car events this is really cool the fact that you guys actually went ahead and made up your own emblem yeah made our version of the Camaro and we'll put the PSC logo on it that is cool there's not a lot of mods the the nosepiece now is a all fiberglass nose piece and we extended the nose piece to be a little lower okay so the chin gets a little bit longer that's right and we've added the glitter that's serious that's thick that's way we could get some front downforce and a little extra cooling through the radiator the hood is a GM plastic hood for a third gen Camaro pretty rare piece they're getting pretty hard to find Wow so it was actually a GM piece to make these cars a little lighter it's a big hood it is a huge hood this is actually a really good idea never thought about this is actually using the vinyl and then cutting it reversely actually still have your sponsors included but not having to do all the windows right not cover up the windows like my car the back window can't see how the windshield we thought it was a pretty cool contrast that yeah flat over the paint and let the paint come through that's cool and then you got this heat extractor in it there's tracks back hood vent that makes the original one but it's functional that's right then we got for the wheels up in here though these look like c5 wheels sort of but it's forged lines version it's 18 by 11 all the way around it's run on 3 1530 18 BFG rival SS weight all four corners all four corners all four corners big was very little massaging to get that tucked in there that's amazing it really worked out well dad's a big tire oh man even this detail that's really tough that was a cool addition I cannot believe that's the same tire wheel combo front and back yep you would never know I would never know all the way around well I guess you'd know when you look like this those are big boy tires yes boy there's a little it's a factory tap spoiler but we did lengthen it to make it a little taller some more downforce it going 180 little dome more downforce for the 180 and give it a little cooler look - yeah definitely it's more aggressive I'm like you said this car street-legal street-legal actually driven on the street a little bit in Pleasanton this weekend oh it's cool wow so much detail everything's so clean that's kind of our way of doing things we like everything to be detailed but not flashy and just keep it nice clean and simple yeah cuz honestly if you didn't start this up and this was just parked you wouldn't even have any clue what's been done to it you get shocked one that fired it up cuz it looks kind of like a sleeper not completely but it's just subtle yeah totally subtle was this on display maybe two years ago it seemed like it was on display last year's SEMA and off to my alley for that ultimate street cars it was fresh build when it was an optimist booth at SEMA year before nice there's only thing I think exactly probably in these t tops so let's get inside and see what's all about the lights work so cool with the lot this thing is rad I kept it pretty much stock up here in other than the roll cage and the pedals got a full cage in it - is actually out of another Camaro the only thing that's been replaced on the dash is the top - pad oh yeah cause a crack yeah they're subject to cracking like right in the middle there's some based on splits I mean it's a big - just like the hood really big those are cobra seats that have been covered with some material to mimic the original Camaro seats with the Camaro logo in it that's cool man a seat adjustment here to be safe this seat track will bolt down into place if you need to adjust the seat just dump in it it's got four pins all the way around the track then you can slide it forward awkward to adjust for different drivers sliders always the weakest link but this is a whole lot safer and it is a product that we make and sell at Detroit's being so just locked right in place also we can take out this Cobra Road brake seat and swap it back easily with just pulling those four pins out you can put the stock top seat back in oh she can go street cruising in it a little easy we can have our street seat and then switch to our roadway seat oh that's good I didn't guys yeah she had the back seat I don't even why they call it the back seat that back seats pretty tricky for insurance of purposes they put a back seat in these cars to get around at the claim not calling a sports car everything's tucked in so well like the Halos tucked in super tight man you barely even tell there's a cage in this car yeah on all of our builds we like to keep the roll cage whether it be a full cage like this or even just a loop bar with a harness bar in it we still like to always tuck them up close to the roof keep them nice neat clean looking where you kind of got a look to notice that it even has roll bars in it yeah these door panels this is cool factory style door panels even with the manual crank ooh style points that is rad so a question is when you lift open does it actually stay up still yes it does okay cuz I I just know of this era oh yeah the shocks bad to go the shocks we just go I'm pretty certain people just had sticks hold em up a problem up we actually kept the released in the factory location behind the tag that is cool honestly you wouldn't even notice he's down bars in the back they blend in nicely with the lines of the interior and he's like I smoked out taillights oh yeah yeah we smoked them a little given with it that little bit more subtle look we have a little bit of clear protective film just to keep it from getting beat he likes to throw rubber yeah he's massive meets I think we're still getting rubber out from seamless that's the home that God you see he sent it pretty hard it was rubber caked up everywhere under it was awesome cuz he literally just came from the show floor when was done went right back to the show floor well let's check out the motor this is this is a cool feature of this car so it has a LS 7 it is a master Motorsports Black Label has the Holley EFI throttle body 105 millimeter throttle body we do drive by cable just for a better feel and a little more response from the foot m/s the intake powered by a Holley Dominator ECU that keeps it all revving and injectors firing and telling it what to do we have the hooker Blackheart from Holley headers they fit real nice in there this motor is ad stroked LS 7 so which goes from 427 to 388 cubic inch and it spins really fast it spins extremely fast it'll gain rpm very quickly I think we're shifting it like 8200 who is screaming on this yeah that's beating up really high this sounds amazing when it's up at those it sounds great you weren't kidding that is a huge throttle body you can put in grapefruit nothing yeah get all the area into that beast you know the specs basically in how much this thing puts out it's 12 to one compression the dyno'd with a different intake at 700 with this intake it's about 6:30 somewhere in that ballpark on horsepower a lot for this car which weighs what 3,300 3400 well that's pretty close it's a dry sump motor with the draft simple pump and the old tank in the old breather it's got a CNR radiator to keep it cool that's some serious stuff right there those fans are this is really cool Howser fabbed in our shop when I was building a car I'm assuming you guys built a strut tower yes yeah that we design and build the strut tower brace we do it in three point eight two point that is Adam is for sale through Detroit speed and you guys make this hood hinges also now these hood hinges are from ring brothers oh yeah very nice to the inch there you go those right there I don't want to get that close to the car I'm afraid of scratching it this is the part of our suspension package that we build for the third gen these are caster camber plates the justice strut and move the caster and camber got these with our lines yeah so we can do some fine adjustments that's cool so nothing underneath the car wrap it's all they gets doing up here those are jri adjustable struts everything Detroit speed builds is super clean it's like functional it performs and it looks factory that's the way we like them that's kind of our style we're running a tilting dual master cylinder for the brakes tilting clutch master cylinders with the dual brakes and masters naturally we can adjust the buys furniture rear so I saw it was actually on the - yeah the brake adjuster is on the - oh man this yeah details gutter you even got your mullet man on our mullet man on our artfully well I think we need to see what you guys really really excel at also it's the suspension underneath the car so let's get up on the lift and check it out then absolutely [Music] that car up on the lift now let's talk about all the goodness underneath but first real quick this is a car that actually gets driven and gets beat on but look how clean it is it's straight off of a weekend of auto girls who haven't even had the chance to clean it up underneath well let's talk about the rear smidgen because this is what the Troy speeds really well known for this is our area so the rear suspension here is a rear four bar that we call Quadra links for a third gen means that the brackets on the rear Ian on a Ford nine-inch rear end to fit in here this is our upper quadrant bar it has a what we call a swivel link the bar will actually swivel or is it like a mono ball or heim joint was running out of travel it doesn't run out a travel it'll it'll spin all the way around so the suspension doesn't bind oh that's cool what the third jeans are finished for is the torque arm but we don'twe with the torque arm we felt like you know they're bad to break they don't stand a whole lot of horsepower and torque and add the lower for the Quadra link bar in the same way if the swivel link it makes it a true four link rear end it's a pullover with the clover mount we made a mount in the top to go through the floor mount the top of the cool over full go over and the burier with the jri double adjustable shocks in the remote canister we've also added the track bar to keep the rear end stable along with the anti-roll bar this car lays flat then and cornering yeah it stays pretty flat it's really increased to handling for a third gen from indice lee how low is this Carver stock it's quite a bit lower yeah we barely get on the lift you have trouble getting the lift arms under this runs on Corvette hubs that we adapt to the nine-inch rear end and our rear ends is done it our sister company gear FX they build the rear end housing and they also do the diffs they'll put together a diff they'll rim polish to death for noise level and for efficiency so it's the polished finish on the ring and pinion that Cotton's it down and a lot less drag they have a rear end I know so and breaking in on the dyno check it for the slop and check it decibel levels - to make sure it's not so noisy Hank it is a floater axle ruine what gear ratios running in it we have 355 in here right now it's got plenty of power yes it doesn't need any more gear wow that is tucked all the way up in there yeah we actually had to modify the gas tank a little bit to get yourself spot you can't get any closer than that it's three inches all the way from the header bag stainless steel it has stainless works chambered mufflers 3-inch mufflers that's one of the things that give it its a unique sound I just realized that there's a muffler sure yeah definitely a great sound - it's a new drive shaft from Donna Tech Munem drive shaft here we have the bowler t56 Magnum it's been pair of bowler with upgraded synchros you need to stand of the shifts on the torturer we put it through on the road course bowler performance there's a good job force on the transmission and so those are the blackjack headers hooker Blackheart all righty other guys running for clutching this so it's the Center for eight and a half inch coach double disc with their flywheel unfortunate flywheel it's fancy we're running a tilt and throw out bearing and then here you go so we're talking about here a little bit of curb rash on the k-member he's good though because you drive the car you're actually beating on it and you can see yeah and so we get to the front we have the front sway bar that thing is a massive we got Detroit speed lower control arms that were engineered and built in our shop we use the stop spring pocket to turn it into a white jacker into a what into a white jacker we can control the weight on the corners of the car we also control rod hop to the next car that I call it screw jack so you can control everything and that's all the top then still no we just control it from right here you run a half inch drive up underneath le inverted from like a nice car style and then as far as the hubs of a late-model Corvette or is that something all brand new that you guys design it's that what we've been working all night to shop this is all secret top secret now still in development so Kyle's a former General Motors suspension engineer started this brand being well-known making suspension components and make cars that never meant the handle handle really well that's correct and he has a passion for the hot rods and he wanted to you know upgrade the suspension on the hot rods make them handle like a more modern car he's got started in his backyard and built the business what it is now and also their response revealing suspension on the who knows what size brakes you running their bare six-hour calipers all the way around the car front and rear on 14-inch rotors we run six Pistons in the rear - and you get to see how big this tire really is on all four corners I'm just tripping on your carbon fiber setup up here it's huge let's go go ahead get way back here you can see how big that thing is most people just by going right here now you go the whole way back you've got air on the nose we got the gyms top steering box but it's been converted to a team to one ratio to quicken the steering you need it for Auto crossing road racing you can have a slow one no no blow your turn everything on this I mean I'll get it Troy speed you're known for suspension the build quality the finish on this car is amazing phenomenal this feels like a showroom car I know it's not we got paint chips on it it gets driven it gets beat up like keep them looking good at the same time it is a beautiful car and thank you very much for bringing a bike yes sir thank you for having us cool [Music] it's really hard Wow oh now he knows I got his car Oh Zack I'll just take the choice
