GREAT tips for beginners (I wish I knew when I started golf!)

hi there Sophie Walker here and this is the how did I do Golf Academy this video is all about what I wish I knew when I started Golf here's seven things to help you [Music] beginners when you're playing partner is hitting be quiet but also be out of their way in the case here right-handed so I stand behind him and to the right so he can always see me if he's looking up and there's no chance of him hitting me if I'm stood behind him number two is golf etiquette the player that's furthest from the hole goes first and make sure you're quiet when they're hitting the golf shop number three as soon as your playing partner is gone make sure you're ready ideally get your Club out before they even finish their shot so you're ready to play Ready golf is key as long as you're staying out with your playing partner's way we can keep this round flowing so try and get your Club your yardage while they're hitting their shot while you're out the way of them and then you're ready to hit yours in terms of what golf clubs you need to hit from the te if it's a par four or five I suggest a fairway wood or driver the closer you get to the hole that's when you start using your irons and your wedges when you get within 100 yards that's quite good to use your wedges when you're on the green you want to put if you're chipping once again use a pitching wedge or a gap wedge if you're in the bunkers it's Sand Wedge in terms of how far these Club goes you'll slowly get used to that the more you practice the more you play you'll get an idea many golf courses have 100 yard markers 50 yard markers so you can start getting your eye in but the rule of thumb is Fairway woods and driver from the tea irons inside 200 yards w wedes inside 100 yards chipping is your pitching wedges and sand wedges and putter when you're on the green number five is where to leave your golf bag I'm looking at this green where's the next tea it's over there I will walk from the hole this way to that te so I'm going to leave my golf bag at the front left of the green out of the way take the clubs that I want to hit wedge and putter move over to take my [Music] shot once you've hit the shot don't just walk after it remember your Club so pick both clubs up and walk onto the green and you can leave this club as long as it's not in anybody's line there's nothing worse than forgetting your wedges out on the golf course beginner golfers do this all the time because they're not used to where do I need to be so put your golf bag on the exit from the green to the next te and try and keep your golf clubs with you at all times number six make sure you're carrying the right equipment in your pocket so I need a ball marker to mark my ball I need T's different sizes of te's depending on if you're hitting a driver or an iron and a pitchfork so you can repair pitch marked the reason you mark your ball is to stay out of pling partner's way now talking about staying out of plain partner's way that moves me on to stay step seven step seven is stay out your playing partner's ey line when putting so don't stand right behind them so you can look at how good the putt is when they're stood over it because that will get on their nerves me standing here equally don't stand the other side either cuz that's just going to put them off golfers are easily distracted at the best of time so make sure you stand out of your playing Partners way out of their ey line so somewh where over here which I mentioned in Step One how if they look up they can see you so they always know where you are because it can be a dangerous sport as well remember so we standing here so we can see each other if need be but I'm out of the way so I'm not distracting him and he can't blame me for missing a pot that's seven things I wish I knew about golf before I started but a quick one to finish you can leave the flag in now you no longer need to take it out so the flag can be in or out but take your golf ball out of the middle of the hole before anybody else PS there's so much to remember I know but this video will just help with those Basics I'm not telling you about how to hit the golf shot it's just how to manage your way around the golf course I've been Sophie Walker this is the how did I do Academy thank you for watching keep subscribing keep liking we love to hear from you [Music]
