well hey guys welcome back to the channel it's been a busy week here at willow ridge acres what do you say we go check on the puppies let's go let's go [Music] hey if you're new to the channel make sure you hit like and subscribe so you can follow our big family living the small farm life can you believe that the puppies are already eight weeks old no it's gone by so fast got my really really fastest time it seems that two of the puppies have already went to their new homes and the rest of them were preparing them now to go to their new homes and it's just crazy crazy how fast it goes by it does but we're just enjoying the last moments that we have with them that's right you know we started getting asked quite a bit do great pyrenees make a good indoor family pet a lot of people that don't have small farms like we do you know our great pyrenees are out here on our small farm guarding our our goats and our chickens and our pig but a lot of people want to know like are these dogs okay are they great as indoor family pets and we want to be able to answer that question for you here today yeah what do you think what's your answer to that heck yeah they're amazing family pets and we want to show you why yeah [Music] hi were you playing you're all dirty [Music] in the past few weeks the puppies have received their first round of vaccinations they're also eating all dry dog food and many of them have begun their livestock guardian training although we do have our dogs outside on our farm from time to time we do need to bring them inside so we've had some experience having them in our house and just recently with mabel with her litter of puppies it got too cold for them to be outside when they were first born so we had to bring them inside and it did present some challenges right away we noticed that they bark a lot right mabel uh would hear things outside especially at night and she would bark and she's got a pretty loud booming bark they bark a lot they definitely shed a lot as well they shed a lot and um like about two times a year they'll you know kind of shed out their undercoat which is a good thing especially in the in the heat if you live in a climate like we do down in south texas where it gets hot during the summer that helps them with the hot weather [Music] so they they bark they shed but they also like to dig so they'll find spots out in your yard and they'll dig it up to try to find some cool dirt to lay down and again a way to stay cool and uh you know if you live in a neighborhood with a really nice manicured lawn that might really annoy you that they're out there digging giant holes that they can lay down in but here's the thing if you can tolerate those challenges and those challenges they're not really even unique to the breed of great pyrenees there's so many dogs that shed a lot there's a lot of dogs that bark a lot and there's dogs that dig a lot as well so if you can tolerate and work with those three things we really believe that the great pyrenees is the most amazing family pet absolutely and if we haven't convinced you enough we went ahead and we asked our kids what they thought about our great pyrenees that's right check this out i think my favorite thing is how loyal and gentle and loving that they are probably that they really really like to cuddle and be pet and play around how they protect all of our animals owen and jackson what do you love most about our great pyrenees they're so fluffy and they're super cute what about you [Music] they snuggle with you [Music] and they're super soft although the great pyrenees may bark a lot they might shed a lot and they might dig up your yard if you can tolerate those things they absolutely make the best family pet we've ever owned they're just amazing with the kids they're amazing temperament they're just super chill all the time and they just want to be big old lap dogs we love them we have found some pretty good tools to use to help manage some of the great pyrenees challenges we like to show you those right now some of the tools that we found super handy in dealing with great pyrenees shedding are good quality brushes and a pet wand this one specifically is made by water pick and we bought it because it has a higher gallon per minute ratio i don't know what that's called anyway it really does actually work our dog's coat is super sick and i would be scrubbing and scrubbing and scrubbing and nothing was coming off and then i'm spraying them with a hose and they're running around the yard and i'm chasing a 120 pound dog around so we got this and it works wonderfully it goes right through the coat all the layers and it just cleans all the shampoo dirt and everything off of them and we will link all of these products down below and a good quality brush each of these brushes is a little bit different and we actually have combs that are very similar to these and in true big family style our children lost them and we couldn't find them for this video which is a straight comb and we will link that below too this is wonderful for mats sometimes our great pyrenees get mats behind their ears or kind of in their tail and we use this to gently comb the mat out and it works wonderfully and then this is a rake it really does get all of the loose hair and it just comes right out and then after we use those we use our combs which are similar to this but without the handle and we will link those like i said but high quality brushes the wand and if you're really really really nice to your spouse maybe a robot vacuum we have one and we use it every single day when the pups and mabel were in the house we were using it two times a day so i highly recommend that investment it'll just save your sanity it's just about feeding time can you tell the goats always let us know when they're hungry you hungry bose you hungry is it about time to eat they start getting real vocal when it's time to eat you hungry most say hi mose say hi it's almost time to eat it's almost feeding time mac hey memphis what's up dude what's up dude are you hungry it's about time is it about time to eat all right
