everyone I want to do a little review on the Granberg 12-volt chainsaw sharpener does a very neat tool to have it doesn't matter if you're a professional or a weekend warrior you're going to have to sharpen your chainsaw once in a while your chain so yeah you can do it by hand with a file but you'll never beat the accuracy of one of these here okay and this won't you know break the bank either this this only cost like I paid 68 or 70 dollars for this and I'm not sure where I got this I don't remember now is about a month or so ago but I'll put it down in the link down below alright or I'll put it in the description below anyways I'm going to show you how to mount this how to sharpen the teeth not only that you can also set your depth with this too because you have to have a certain depth from from each tooth from tooth to tooth there's a little depth gauge here so you don't take too much off at once and bite and you know pull you into the tree for this particular chain is 25,000 so I'm going to show you how to do that too alright so let's get started alright now we're going to mount this thing and you put this over the chain like this and these here these are like little clamps that hold the chain down you might want to loosen those a little bit when you first put it on you get this out of the way all right these clamps here what they do is keep the chain from coming up like this okay so what you want to do is put them just past the the links here these little clamps and just snug them up a little bit that's all you want to do and what that will do is keep the chain from coming up in the air you see that it's not coming up over here I can pull it up no problem but here I can't but yet at the same time you can still slide your chain okay alright next what we're going to do is set all the stops and position the good little grinder here now what we want ideally me see if I can get this in the camera real good you want this grinding wheel right inside here like that right in the cutting edge now you have to play with the adjustment here you want to start adjusting this there's this top screw right here you want to start tightening that up or down depending which way you want this to go so I want it to fit right inside here like that right about there and then this here see that that's your stop right here and that you're going to have to play with that to adjust that to cut more as you're cutting you want you that'll adjust your depth of cut or the amount you take off that depth of cut so we are pretty much ready here there's one more thing I forgot to show you on the top here there's the adjustment for the angle okay right on the top of the fixture of the jig here you're going to see these little increments here each increment is five degrees that will adjust this angle here the angle for you or the cutting edge here so right now - set for 30 degrees up here so and to do that underneath here there's a little wingnut you just don't loosen that and this will spin where you want it and then just lock that wingnut back down again okay so that should fit right in there of course you can adjust it with this screw up here the depth up I mean the position up and down with this here this will allow how much to take off okay off your cutting edge so you really won't know until you start grinding so let's start grinding I could probably take a little more you I feels pretty good and on the top of the cutting edge here you turn the petals off on the very top of this cutting edge here I can feel a burr because this is spinning this way here okay so I can feel a burr at the top here and that's telling me that that cutting edge is sharp all the way to the to the very you know cutting edge okay on the cutting edge here right here I run my fingers across there I can feel a burr that tells me that that's sharp all the way to the top and it's pushing a burr up which is a good thing you know it's sharp all the way to the cutting edge we're ready to shoot right at the top all right okay what we need to do is when you do your first one actually or before you do your first one is mark it a little marker for just mark it with some kind of magic marker whatever you have and you know that was the first one you started on okay so now we're just going to keep going here let me get it again now I can see here it cut all the way around here and this is where your chips in a curl once you the would hit says you set this off on the top cutting edge here is where it's going to cut but your your wood chip is going to curl right right in here okay and that's basically the radius of your grinder here which on mine it is 3/16 and again you're going to have to whatever chain you have look at your at your specifications for your chain on my particular chain I have a 3/16 a radius here is our file that I would use if I was filing it but that's the a diameter of this grinding wheel is 3/16 the angle is 30 degrees is where I have the fixture of the jig set and the depth of cut which I'm going to do at the end when I sharpen all the teeth on here it's going to be right here this depth the distance from the cutting edge down to here is going to be 25 thousands all right and I'll show you how to do that after I get everything done here so let's continue on nice for the next one now you're going to skip that one because the 30 degrees is the other way we're going to do that after we do all the 30 degrees that face in the same direction yep just a little bear there that's good you probably I see if I can show this on camera but the entire radius of this is right inside that tooth right there you know all along the side and up all the way to the cutting edge and that's what you want you see that all right so what I'm going to do now is continue sharpening the 30 degrees all the way until I reach that first one that I marked and then what I'm going to do is get this and flip it the other way 30 degrees that we're going to sharpen it from this side all right okay one side and loosen this bottom wing nut here you just get this here flip it on this side and you set this here to 30 degrees see if I can get two right there we'll just tighten this up kind of hard to do it one-handed see if I got there right yep 30 degrees and we locked it down yeah and now we fold this through you can see here now we're going to do these here we just did these going this way now we're going to do them going this way all right now when you flip it around it should be exactly like the other side but you always want to make sure that the radius here this radius fits into that radius of the tooth the cutting edge there just like that so it works it looks pretty good I may have to adjust a stop a little bit but we'll see cop take it very much job so what I'm going to do this just in here I'm going to screw it in just a little bit so they'll cut a little more they see the tops right there now it's going to cut a little more but a different ad more you want to grind until you could feel that it's not really grinding much of anything anymore and again it should be a little bit of burr on the top there you know it's being right up to the cutting edge okay now I'm back to my first one and I know this one I already did but I'm gonna hit it again he's not even taking anything off so that's good all right that only took a couple minutes to do the whole the whole chain so now I'm going to set the depth right here because a distance between the top of this cutting edge to this here to this depth gauge is supposed to be 25 thousands what this does is the wood hits this and it only allows 25 thousands at a time to be taken off as you're you know cutting the wood so for all of these here there's supposed to be 25 thousands from the cutting edge down to here so I'm going to show you how to set this up to do that next alright now we're going to do the depth gauge so after you're done with sharpening all your teeth on the top here you're going to want to set this at zero we have it at 30 right now because that's the angle we were cutting so you get this out of the way you loosen this wing nut on the very top here you want to set this at zero across this way and you tighten up that wing nut again and we are at zero all right now that adjustment lever over here we want to raise this up you want to bring this up above the tooth you just finish grinding okay now you may have to adjust your stop here so this swings back farther but what you want to do is start lowering your adjustment here to the point where you just skim the top of your tooth that you just finished of course this has to be off so you want to dead wheel it just on top until you can feel it touch okay I can just feel it touch right there okay so now we know where we are right at the very top of that tooth okay now get to settle away here we want to bring that depth gauge right where that tooth used to be okay so now we know we have to lower this adjustment 25 thousandths down for this particular chain the depth from the top here to this here has to be 25,000 now we need to lower this 25,000 and I'll show you how to do that all right on this adjustment here each line represents ten thousands sort of go 25 we need to go two and a half lines alright so we're going to go down so we're going to unscrew this so we're going to go one two and about a half right there okay alright so what we just did is lowered this entire fixture down 25,000 so now when I come over that depth gauge I should feel it hit and it's hitting right now and the next thing we need to do is take the material off that depth gauge all right now we're going to turn it on and start grinding you're going to want to hang on to your chain because I'm not hooked up right now like here we're going to lick this Cup okay also make sure you stop the step or you're not going to hit you the tooth you just ground okay you sharpen you don't want to swing back too far or you're going to hit your tooth you just want to hit that depth gate just a little bit you go to the next step cage so you just taking a little bit off now back here I'm hanging on to the pain a little bit because I don't want to slide forward as I'm grinding and end up hitting the tooth effective you damn back to my starting food here just three hits a little bit okay they went all the way around and that's how you do your depth gauge so yeah we went all the way around and that's how you do your depth gauge and you just so make sure you you don't hit the tooth you just resharpen so set your stop here and this stop here just put your your tooth you just sharpen over a little bit right there and come over and hit your depth gauge there and that's it and with this put your right hand just hang on to the chain so don't slip forward if you're grinding it and that's it now we're going to see all this chain cuts we're going to go this cut enough anyways it cut really well the chips look really really good and yeah that's a nice little grinder so anyways let me know what you guys think please like and subscribe and I greatly appreciate it thank you you
