Grakkus the JACKED Hutt: Full Life Explained (With Luke)

hey guys how's it going i figured a fun series would be to cover the different huts out there seeing as we're probably gonna see more of them in this season and if we don't we will probably see more of them in season two and hopefully go to nalhata so today let's cover grakkus the jedi collecting hut although it's hard to imagine the huts used to be a powerful warring race before the reforms of the buddhilla hester lake amura which transformed the huts into a rule from the shadows type of species the massive slugs used to regularly pitch open battles around the galaxy but by the time of darth sidious's rise and the expansion of the galactic empire the hutts had almost all been relegated to sedentary crime bosses who couldn't be bothered to move but there was at least one exception gracchus the hut was one of the most unique huts during the imperial era he rejected the norms of his people and devoted his life to perfecting his body when he wasn't busy exercising he spent the rest of his time collecting black market jedi relics and for some reason he was obsessed with the now fallen order so who exactly was grakkus the hutt where did his life begin how did it end that's the story that we're going to tell today on the smuggler's moon of narshada drakkus owned a sprawling criminal enterprise by the time luke skywalker visited the planet in the aftermath of the first death star's destruction gracchus was one of the most influential huts around even when compared to the more powerful members of the species on the homeworld of nalhata below there was something unique about him unlike other huts grackis was a massive muscular hulking being and like other members of his group brachus made use of the centipede-like legs that he had that were connected beneath his body so that he could quickly run and climb through any terrain when it comes to grakis's birthplace and birth date we can't be certain it seems that he was born on narshada sometime before the start of the clone wars given the size of his criminal operation he mustn't have been very young huts could live for nearly a thousand years so it was hard for an upstart of the species to strike out on their own and try to compete against more established hut syndicates the sheer scale and success of gracchus gladiatorial operation and spice smuggling cartel were indicators that he might have been much older than luke or han might have guessed although in his adventures around narshad grakkus let slip secrets about his true origins in small fragments only when the hut was trying to entertain or intimidate his guests as we already know there was a time that luke skywalker was desperate enough to travel to the smuggler's moon of narshada you might wonder what could have made the young jedi distressed enough to risk that voyage after all the streets of narshad were lawless unless you were a towering wookie like chewbacca the odds of surviving a night wandering around were very very slim all too often off-worlders would race to the hutt controlled moon hoping to leave all of their worries behind and all too often they would be found in the morning with cheaply crafted rusted blades buried in their necks it was just another poor soul that thought they could survive the smuggler's moon but luke needed to find a way to coruscant he needed a pilot and since han wasn't likely to jump with the chance to fly into the seat of the empire luke decided to hire a proper criminal to do the job but just like every other off-worlder luke found that even he wasn't ready for the treachery of narshada not long after he arrived on the planet news of a boy with a lightsaber made its way back to grakkus the hutt after all this time an actual jedi to add to my collection i assume he said to himself when he was younger grackus had experienced the awe of the jedi he attended underground auctions of ancient relics filled with rakata relics and talt's heirlooms but it was the time el dracaetus a jedi padawan was auctioned that really drew his interest unfortunately grakkus missed his chance to win the padawan fell to the crimson blades of darth maul the very first jedi that he ever killed i've covered a video on that comic as well i implore you to go check it out throughout his life the hutt continued to hoard every statue holocron and lightsaber that he could find and even chatted about the business of collecting jedi artifacts with lors santeka soon after grack has heard that luke was on narshara he captured him and gave the aspiring young jedi a tour of his massive jedi collection what is all this luke once asked as he was being dragged through the dark cavernous hall ah this is my hobby my personal collection this is all that remains of the jedi grakkus couldn't have been prouder to show off what he had amassed in a dungeon as large as a stadium massive statues of ancient jedi masters endless crates of jedi lore and even a yellow jedi starfighter laid under a layer of dust but grakkus wasn't too interested in exchanging pleasantries he had brought skywalker here for a reason grackis wanted to confirm whether or not this boy was a jedi so he quickly withdrew a polygon-shaped holocron and handed it to luke after luke managed to open it and all the other holocrons in the warehouse brackets briefly sighed in relief and congratulated himself for finding another fine item for his massive collection but he had a cruel plan for luke he had his combat specialist a man named game master trained luke in the art of lightsaber combat and a few days later grace forced luke to fight in his massive arena for the entertainment of thousands of fans luke's opponent wasn't a man or even a vaguely humanoid alien it was a massive beast from the magma tunnels of mustafar congo the disemboweller ultimately the beast proved too much for the fledgling jedi to handle and luke was nearly killed but then someone intervened high above the blood-soaked battlegrounds grakis and the gamemaster watched the battle unfold but when the hut wasn't looking the game master snuck away to make contact with his true master vader in truth the game master was an undercover imperial agent sent to narshad to keep an eye on krakus and his jedi collection in short game master's imperial allies invaded the moon and the arena filled with tie fighter pilots now on the opposite side han lei and chewie came to luke's rescue wielding lightsabers that r2 had stolen from drakkus collection in the aftermath of this short battle luke managed to escape but grakkus wasn't so lucky captured by the imperials he was ferried off to a high security prison where he would have stayed if it wasn't for the intervention of the rebellion hoping that they could use grakkus and his massive supply of weapons to their advantage mon mothma ordered a raid on an imperial prison transport once the rebels got grakas into their possession one mothma hoped that one of their best smugglers han solo would transport the crime lord to general draven now draven was an expert interrogator it would only be a matter of time before they extracted the location of grackus's warehouse but it wasn't exactly easy to convince the corellian pilot that it was worth it solo couldn't stand the idea of having a hut aboard his ship least of all krakus i'd sooner have darth vader as a co-pilot with his famous reply when mon mothma first brought up the issue but solo quickly relented during the journey grakkus managed to break free of his stun cuffs and strangled solo it seemed that the smuggler's fears might have been justified but as grakkus often tended to do when he thought he had the upper hand he revealed his full plan to han including the planet that held his warehouse once han heard that he initiated a hidden electric stunner on drakus legs and incapacitated the hut in the aftermath the rebellion raided grakkus's warehouse and collected its resources for the next three decades rakkus would spend his days behind bars at the megalox beta penitentiary there he made himself leader of a local gang and spent his days alongside other cybernetically enhanced huts it wasn't until the arrival of poe dameron who desperately needed to know a comprehensive list of planets that lor san tekka had visited that gracchus would feel freedom santeka was an explorer and a historian deeply concerned with ancient jedi relics in that way he shared a kindred spirit with krakus the hutt at times lor san tekka would even join master luke and a young ben solo on journeys hoping to uncover ancient jedi ruins or long ago abandoned temples when poe tried to get the information from grakkus he found that the hut was just as conniving as ever grakas had offered the same deal to a member of the imperial remnant terex break the hut out of prison and he'd give whatever they wanted after a massive battle po managed to come out on top and in the end grakkus gave him all of the information he needed so when we think of the life and times of grakastahat it's hard not to see something special in the crime lord unlike so many other members of his species grakkus devoted his life to becoming a powerful force not just with his influence but in terms of his physical might as well and you could even make the claim that thanks to his interest in jedi lore grakkus helped save many of the order's relics but by the time the first order's rise came about and grakkus escaped from prison many must have forgotten his name except for a few elderly aliens who looked back fondly on the gladiatorial bouts that grak has organized the galaxy had largely gone on without him hope you enjoyed today's video on grakkus the hutt and his lore and history maybe we'll see him
